Physical (Dex/Guns) or Magic build for first time SMTIV playthrough? I know magic is great in DeSu, and I vaguely remember struggling with a physical build in Nocturne but that was years ago.
Ah so one doesn't really stand out compared to the other? Seems like other SMT games there's always one build that outclasses the others.
Probably going to go Dex then since I like using Demons for magic.
>yfw this song comes on
>tfw you named Raidou Raidou in Raidou1 and now get confused when people talk to him
what the h*ck
Those are areas to do a boss rush, if you can't do anything with them, it means that you still haven't faced the boss of that specific chamber.
If by the end of the game you beat every boss from those chambers in "X" number of turns or less, you earn a very neat bonus for your NG+
It takes a shit ton, but of course, you don' have to tackle it all at once.
You can refight all bosses in some kind of Time Trial that counts turns. If you beat all of them in a certain turn limit you can get an extra turn in NG+.
Don't bother with it until you want full completion.
Also Labyrinth takes quite a bit without guides. I'd say at least 6 hours.
Always willing to help out if you can't find the way
Yes, since you can still use physical skills.
But if you want to survive Naraku, you should focus on agility and luck first. And once you get the gun, you can begin dumping most of your points into DEX.
How much time do you take to finish these games?
Which is the game that took you the least time to complete?
For me, these games usually last me from 4 to 8 months in average.
And the game that took me the least time to complete was P4, which I finished in a month because it was my first megaten and that game absorbed me completely.
It's not even my favorite one anymore, and I don't know how would it hold up now that I have played many other megatens.
Does the game note you on the required turns for each boss? The text changed for the bosses I defeated, but I don't know if I did well or not.
6 hours is actually short in my book, but I assume it'll take me much longer because I'm already fucking confused by it.
If you beat the Turnlimit the Text on the Tombstone becomes red.
You probably need to hunt for all the fiends too. On what floor are you and how much time have you spent in there yet?
I just started it, on the second kalpa. There's a soul on the first that tells you if there are fiends around, she says there aren't any I should be looking for so I assume I'm fine for now
guys I just read the tips and tricks for devil survivor overclocked after my first playthrough and physical isn't really all that hard!
Surely annoying at times, because of murmur and its stupid phys reflect but those were barely ever the leading demon so you could defeat the squad anyways
I just went full glass cannon 40 Str and maxed out AG after that as far as I could until I beat day8
there was nothing but the final boss that Multi-Strike (PhysAmp + Pierce + Drain Hit) didn't oneshot and left me at full HP for the next fight
With that magnetide thing every single Demon in my team had Samarecarm and they just kept reviving eachother, while they spammed shield alls and some Megidolaons. I feel like I unlocked half of all possible titles on my first playthrough and I'm missing only the story ones now
That's fucking great.
My endgame Atsuro also had the same set-up, but of course your MC must be way more powerful.
I think the main issue from going physical is that many demons reflect or null those attacks, all while Holy Dance gets the job done without a single risk.
What party member did you use for ocasions like that one?
For example, I just came back from beating Bishamon, and I decided to bench my physical users because all the minions of the map had physical repel.
Haru is second best girl.
Nice Amane. Don't have that one saved.
But now I do. Thanks.
well I spotted first megido and then Megidolaeon and cracked both of those to give to my healers in case something has reflect
nullify and drain are both ignored with pierce and more often than not its very possible to just ignore reflect (In some cases I was extra bold and just replaced drain-hit with phys drain and healed myself on the phys reflect users)
While Metatron couldn't be oneshot I still beat him in a single turn because of based double up. In chapters prior to that fight I even had animal leg + double up and just zoomed around the map with only the Hero deployed to steal all the exp.
the best party member after Hero was ~950hp Kaido with Final strike.
The game is tough until you get through Ginza and Ikebukuro. After, it gets easy since you get so powerful. The only hard bosses are the two null physical ones.
The difficulty comes more from the sheer numbers of enemies you face and the lengths of the dungeons. It's a game of attrition of sorts.
>fenrir's 8 bit render is better designed than his soul hacker render
It's like he's a sleeping beast you musn't wake up!
The SH one is just "AYYYYY I'm an electric dog!"
I played Nocturne for the first time a year ago while deliriously ill and have had a hard time believing any of that was real since.
I just started playing it again for a second run through while lucid, and... huh. The art direction is fucking outstanding, better than I remember save for Chiaki's knee pads that make her legs look like giant misshapen fingers stuffed into boots but this gameplay...
>Suicide espionage run boss to discover moveset and weakness
>Redo entire party into something that resists boss while exploiting weakness
>BUFF BUFF BUFF BUFF DEBUFF DEBUFF DEBUFF DEBUFF
>Repeat for every boss
SMT 1-2's gameplay is nowhere near as deep and has its own issues, but I really liked not running into brick walls at every boss that required me to have a specific party layout in order to proceed. Also this story sucks shit when I'm not blasted out of my mind on cold medicine. Any tips to make this more fun?
Started getting sick again the same day I picked this up again. Game is fucking cursed.
Where are you right now? It sounds like you have garbage demons, get better at fusing, your Demi-fiend should do most of the work in boss battles anyway.
Chiaki a cute.
Yes. It's a giant Yoma. Heres another one
found a bigger version of this
name a game with a better ost
>save for Chiaki's knee pads that make her legs look like giant misshapen fingers stuffed into boots
Fuck you, now I see it too.
And yeah, Nocturne kinda has that issue, that it is very easy to get completely blasted during your first attempt at a boss. I guess you only need to be very careful at fusing to prevent such things.
The story is totally minimalistic, it's only good enough to let you know that you are progressing through the game.
Keep playing to see if the game grows on you, or get sick again.
I'm still on my first(SMT IV) and I started beginning of last month, I'm about 75 hours in and in Blasted Tokyo right now, I probably would've finished by now but fusing demons and doing challenge quests is a lot of fun.
Will STR be useful this time around?
Is there a reason why I shouldn't buy DeSu2 for DS instead of 3DS? The graphics don't look to have had made a major leap, and the gameplay is pretty much the same. I can also live without voice acting since dubs are a shit.
While it has more content, pretty much everyone shits on it. So maybe wait for a discount, unless you have money to burn? Or emulate the DS version to decide if you like it enough to pay for more.
Let's track down Kaneko and see what he thinks of feminine dicks and whether it's gay to suck them.
>tfw you went a str build and didn't have any trouble throughout the whole game
Which one? I don't remember anything difficult but I haven't finished it yet
I'm a dungeon or two away from completion
>tfw want to play
>won't have much time today, who knows what'll happen tonorrow
>still post here instead of playing
I should get back to the game
Usually a month for a game (40-60 hours).
SMT2 lasts 20-25 hours.
I don't know how people can play more time than that i was almost max stats by that time i was just getting lost on the dungeons.
Lol i stumbled over Satan and killed it without problem.
Random thought I had while bored at work:
Is Final going to be the first game where someone actually says YHVH's name out loud in a voiced scene?
I just beat Mishaguji in Raidou1 and god damn this must be one of the worst fights across Megaten games.
>Hitbox of Tailswipe attack is about 20times larger than it is visually
>Heals are based on max HP so if he charms a demon with heal spells he's immediately at full HP again
>absolutely awful camera
>stupid demon AI can't dodge the charm attack
Spent 30 min looking for it through my yt history and search terms. I have no idea what to look for in order to find it again.
high five anon, I got my first one on new years eve of all times
Thanks for the vid anon. And as far as I know YHVH doesn't have a defined pronunciation. "The lord" is usually used as a subtstitute as far as I know. Might be wrong tho.
>as far as I know... as far as I know
>he doesn't know that Mastema, Mastema, Mastema is trustworthy!
The 3D games usually take you a week or less to complete.
I know SMT1 is supposed to take a month to finish if you weren't so overleveled. The dungeons also are giant if you are trying to complete the map.
Finished it a few days ago lad.
It's really easy, the game is not dificult at all. The random encounter rate is fucked up so every time you take a step you fight 3 hordes of enemies, you end up overleveled. The bosses aren't dificult if you have certain party members with you. I beat almost every single boss in SMT1 by using Zio/Charm bullets, stunning them and taking away their turn.
Fusing demons is terrible, the menus are really slow. Also, at least to me, it felt like every single demon fusion resulted in a fucking slime.
The dungeons are big and i suggest you use a map if you don't want to spend a lot of time in them. By Ginza i gave up on exploring everything because i already had a high level.
Alignments are important, Neutral makes everything easier since you can summon both Law and Chaos demons.
Inventory space is ridiculous and makes buying new armor and weapons a chore.
>mfw the PS version gives you way more inventory space, the ability to easily sort items and puts gems in an extra item area, and view type/stats/sexes for equipment
Maybe I'm just slow, but this 'Hijiri is Aleph' thing is complete shit right?
>The fake YHVH that the archangels create is the one that promises to smite Aleph over and over again
>The actual YHVH just says he's going to come back to life whenever people pray for salvation
>Nocturne introduces multiple universe theory, so why is it necessarily Aleph that commits the ultimate sin?
>Why not pic related?
>Cerberus shows you his 'master's tomb' which turns out to be Izanagi's tomb suggesting it is far closer to the Megami Tensei universe anyway
Also, what the fuck is up with the infinite universe thing in SMT? Are there multiple YHVHs? If so, how/why do they tolerate each other since smiting 'false' gods is his whole schtick? Or is there just one that preys on multiple worlds at random? Does the universe thing serve any purpose other than to canonize spin-offs (and utterly trivialize the events of each individual game by making the demon apocalypse a mundane, regular occurrence)?
Like what >>127819981 says, it's an easy game for people who know how SMT works because, well, we know how it works. This is true for a lot of games, but I feel it's especially true for SMT since a lot of the challenge of the games is understanding the intricacies of the battle system and the demon/fusion system
for example, >>127887750 perfectly illustrates this since he knows to abuse Zio/charm spam to cheese the shit out of demons. Charm shit is only readily available for demons at around the low-20s (Heroine gets Marin Karin, but that's single target) until you get access to Charm bullets like halfway through the game and Zio spam is impossible unless you expressly go out of your way to retain zio spamming demons who are also fast or build the heroine in a specific manner (MAG/AGI points all the way) which already implies a level of foreknowledge about the game. Arguably Law Hero's bufu spam also works but that implies you build the Law Hero a certain way as well.
Personally I'd argue that the game is more 'tedious' than difficult once you know how it works (basically by figuring out the fusion system and the spell proficiency shit to allow your human partners to learn their good spells asap). Most of the challenge is in dungeon crawling and surviving the insane encounter rate, because let's face it bosses are pretty much just there to clean up your party after particularly difficult dungeon crawls. It's old-school that way
actual YHVH curses the shit out of Aleph and Hiroko too, anon. Go back to their final fight, before you fight YHVH he bitches at Aleph for being an artificial messiah and Hiroko for giving birth to him, promises he'l torture the shit out of them in hell, then when he gets bored he'll reincarnate the two and then repeat the process all over again
Whoops, I did the Chaos ending where he and Lucifer just get catty with each other and ignore you for the most part.
The rest of my points still stand though. This only makes my questions more complicated.
Wait, is this true?
That's pretty good news. All those faggots who came here because "only place on the internet where one can discuss SMT without Persona" and didn't even know about the glorious traditional shit of 4chan can leave and never ever come here again.
I'm moved to tears. All these threads without tumblr, it will be great.
"Hey! Shut up about pancakes! Like! GOD, CANT YOU GUYS TALK ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE" -u
This meme is stale. There was one faggot saying to make a skpe group and like 3 guys explaining how that'd go to shit.
That's a BS thing that modern Christians arbitrarily decided. The whole idea of YHVH is that it is an unpronouncable substitiute for the unspeakable name of God.
Fuck yourself, this whole series takes tons of lore from Judaism and that poster is 100% correct.
>Finally convince wife to play SMT1
>Makes it back to nuked Shinjuku at around lvl16
>Gets jumped by level 99 Fiend David
>Hero becomes immediately smitten with David's melodies
>Law and Chaos Hero get fucking wrecked
>I remember that bosses are easily charmed in SMT1
>Give shitty advice to charm him back
>All surviving demons begin Sexy Dancing to no avail
>David plays his fiddle for multiple turns before tiring of their dancing and one-shots them each in turn
>Charmed Hero on constant life support, consuming all healing items including Soma from the Diamond Realm
>Everyone is dead, except for the transfixed Hero
>In between bouts of lovesickness, Hero manages occasional chip damage
>She manages to survive Mr. Bones' Wild Hoedown for upwards of 30 minutes until suddenly-
>HERO GAINED FIVE BILLION EXP
>PLEASE DISTRIBUTE F POINTS because the points counter can't count above 9
>Breezes through the game with overleveled as fuck demons until just after the Ikebukuro prison break
>Gets bored and drops it for Bloodborne
>One year later
>Finally convince wife to play Strange Journey
>Gets to scripted Fiend David event in Bootes
>Disappointed by the ensuing pisseasy curbstomp
>Gets bored shortly thereafter and drops it for the Old Hunters DLC
What the fuck is wrong with the encounter rate in DDS
There's a battle every three fucking steps
What the fuck
> Most of the challenge is in dungeon crawling and surviving the insane encounter rate.
This, SMT1 is tedious because you'll be hitting the AUTO button most of the game.
You also can buy Nerve Bullets, that makes enemies sleep, before the
nuke. You can cheese the game from start to finish.
> Get killed by David
> 1/256 chance to encounter him again
> Can't get revenge
> Some anon's wife who has no knowledge of SMT beats him.
And that's supposed to modify shit stories. There's no way it couldn't because even though DeSu and Persona characters tend to be poorly written as well, they still do more than just act as a vehicle for an alignment.
I did the Law route on SMT1 recently out of curiosity and holy shit. Watching Law Hero spiral into fanatical madness was way more depressing and horrible than I was expecting.
Law/Chaos Hero, Lilith, the Psychodiver, Red/Black Baron, Lucifer, Hiroko, Cerberus, Zayin, and tons more I'm forgetting- the initial storyline of 1-2 was supermassive in scope and had tons of great characters, hampered only by memory limitations. Even the random encounters you talk to, despite not being particularly deep, are often more unique and charming than most scripted NPCs in your average game.
Realizing that you meet and talk with almost everyone in the Hall of Champions over the course of SMT2 was a trip. A++ world building.
3DS is just about kill and FINAL was meant to be the last milking of the system they could do, so it probably is a console game. P5's engine and assets must be far enough long to make a console game out of it.
With more bad endings,
gay sex, guro and cannibalism.
I'd play it and buy all the merchandises of the game.
No, Superman has laser attacks.
Fine, I was needlessly rude. You do get your answer by the end of the game. Hope you're having fun.
Because if they don't then they really will never see games get localized. You don't actually believe Atlus is smart enough to realize their shit sells bad because they're terrible about bringing things over right?
FRIDAY NIGHT MOTHERFUCKERS
WHAT SMT ARE YOU PLAYAN/STREAMAN/EATIN
A shitty calzone. Shame because I remember this place used to serve good ones but this garbage has almost no cheese in it. Also had to wait an extra 25 minutes on it. Fuckers.
Gale and Argilla in DDS1, Gale and Cielo in DDS2.
You can justify using Heat instead of Gale in DDS1 if your Serph is very magic oriented.
Of course any party can work, but Cielo is pretty trash in DDS1.
Magic is perfectly doable in Nocturne, just like Strength imo. Vit based skills are an afterthought sadly.
I'm gonna try to fight Satan with phys only, maybe using Gale's Severe fire spell too. Still need to get it back from my friend however.
TDE is TDE, that doesn't make the game biased against magic. If you're going for TDE, you know what you're in for. You can still do him in with magic only, it just takes longer.
It runs like shit and has audio sync issues in cutscenes and gameplay. It was so awful I dropped it eight hours into the first game, downloaded an emulator for the first time and played the games on PC.
I'm in the middle of a Nocturne replay. By the end I want to superpower a mid-game demon but I haven't done it before and I don't know how much time and macca that would take.
Oh I don't care about spoilers, no worries.
As far as I know in DDS I've selected both choices to enable Heat in DDS2, I just wasn't sure if having one meant I couldn't have the other. Thanks for the information.
Answer naturally and see what you get. If you aren't a dick, it will probably be law or neutral.
Neutral has the most post-lock content. Law has the least NG+ content, so do that if you're a completionist.
the most fun part about replaying overclocked is
fighting the first Wendigo and having the game tell you that you should back off because he is far too dangerous. Then you just *teleport behind him* with a cap stats Lucifer Lv100 and hit him with 7 multi-strike attacks all doing 30k+ damage, he lives with 1hp
and then the absolute madman will tell you that this is not over
Racial profile the fuck out of each type of demon until you can accurately predict what they're going to want to hear.
10 Mag 10 Int ASAP
You'll hate yourself and everything else if you don't.
You don't have to hit A. You can hold L and R to skip (might need to enable it in the options). The tedious parts are the easy battles that consist of using multi-strike 5 times.
Fuck Midori and her unskippable animations, though. Worst character.
Soul Hackers on my 3D's
Law gets a lot of points for social niceties, which is why non-dicks are likely to lean towards it. Like the beginning of the game with its
>Extend arm (law)
>Don't extend arm (Chaos)
SMT 4 really could have used some Neutral dialog or at least it could have not tied alignment points to everything.
It's all because of the dungeons. Really, Strange Journey is weaker than IV in a lot of ways. Combat is worse. Story is arguably worse, at least until the end of the game. Fusion is less deep than Nocturne's or SMT IV's. Boss fights mostly boil down to just fusing demons of the same alignment with the boss' weakness, except for a few great and a few bullshit fights in the late game. Soundtrack is definitely worse. Side quests are far worse.
But Strange Journey has great dungeons whereas IV arguably doesn't have dungeons at all.
I wouldn't go that far. I don't like how SMT IV completely freedom'd up the fusion system. I'd prefer something like Nocturne's with all the restrictions but without having to shuffle the fusion over and over until you get the skills you want. I hear P4G works that way.
And then of course you have the MP for physical attacks they kept in IV, and gave physical demons low MP as well.
Lack of VIT made the game really odd. Demon health and MP was just a ratio so you just favored demons with balanced HP/MP ratio on casters and maybe a little more HP for physical attackers.
I don't see anything wrong with the fusion system other than that luster candy and debilitate are way too easy to get. What changes did you have in mind there?
>I'd love to see an SMT with the dungeons of SJ and everything else of IV
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one.
In a game like Nocturne, a fused demon has starting skills and those are non-negotiable. You can overwrite them once the demon levels up and has their skill slots filled out, but not during fusion. You also cannot carry over as many skills as you want - it depends on how much you've leveled up the demons that are to be fused together. This rewards planning and ensures that no matter how well you fuse your demon it will still have inherent skills that set it apart.
In SMT IV you can fuse two demons you just acquired together, carrying over 8 skills from one demon and 0 from the other, basically just transplanting the demon into another skin. There's no sense of loss.
And then you have the ability to transplant all sorts of ice skills onto extremely fire oriented demons that in previous entries wouldn't be able to inherit them.
I'd just prefer the Nocturne system without having to spend half an hour shuffling my fusion.
I agree with this mostly. My ideal game would also tune up Smirk and add restrictions to what skills can be passed to demons. That, and/or the affinity system and nerfs to how Resist/Null/Reflect/Drain element stacks against being weak. Might be alone on that last one though. And definitely make phys skills use HP again and bring back VIT. Overall IV did a lot of stuff right though.
>I don't like how SMT IV completely freedom'd up the fusion system
Considering how Atlus has messed around with the fusion system with other games (Persona Q comes to mind), you could say that this issue is already getting fixed.
I also consider that the old system of shuffling through menus until you get a decent, let alone the exact combination that you want is far from ideal.
For example, in PQ, mage demons cannot learn physical skills, and Jack Frost cannot learn agi skills. The only thing it lacked was the advanced searching system of IV or the DeSu remakes.
>nerfs to how Resist/Null/Reflect/Drain element stacks against being weak.
What do you mean by this? Something like a demon being weak to ice not becoming totally immune to ice simply because you fused a null Ice onto it, instead simply losing its weakness?
Not yet. I got distracted with
Bloodborne, but I'll finish sometime in the next few days. Thanks for asking.
>Grind the shit out of Raksha's in the Heavenly King temple south of Shinjuku
>Remember that the Renki no Ken is not the Kusanagi Tsurugi and therefore is useless to me
Well, time for bed then
Yeah, and resist still leaves you weak, but instead of taking say 2x damage it takes 1.5x. The problem is I have a hard time imagining how they'd make a difference between Null, Drain, and Reflect in such cases. It just seems silly to me that a demon that's weak to an element can become able to null the damage from it, or shit even heal from it. Bugs me even more than them being able to learn attacking skills of those elements really.
Adachi fig review
I know some dude wanted one, I still think it looks shit.
That video is just what I needed to watch.
I tried playing SMT 1, And when does antiques guy sell guns.
I'm unsure how the patch works because it's in same folder as game copy yet I still can't get guns oddly enough. Going through echo building atm
Pic related always.
Asherah would be my second choice.
It's 7 in the morning.
I wasted my whole night playing Soul Hackers
Uh guys, Bunny got a little too deep in all that pussy and he hooked a certain someone that dosent want to be shared
Lets just say alice might want him to "die for her"
s-should I warn him?
or does he deserve this
Only true answer
Well I got everything Sorted except using the save state from my unpatched to patched.
that and using anything other than purify to play patched.
How do I move BST files to different roms?
dont die faggets.
Is there a list of damage and what each shell does online?
Is it worth it buying everyone shotgun shells at this point?
Only 15 hours? I thought it would be just a bit less than 40 hours because it's written that it's 40 hour long on the game's box. I don't think I need to wait until the next break to play it then.
I just played it to see if it works and completed the first dungeon, I agree with you on the encounter rate. Though I've gotten used to P2's encounter rate and the battles are faster so I think it'll be fine.
You are welcome anon.
Someone tell me to stop hunting monsters and start hunting demons instead.
>I'm unsure how the patch works because it's in same folder as game copy yet I still can't get guns oddly enough.
Honestly I still think this is still broken in the Orden patch, as sometimes he sells them right away, sometimes not at all. In the PS version, he starts selling them right after you get out of the hospital.
Ronaldo is an enormous faggot because he's the DeSu2 equivalent of Law. Yamato is an enormous faggot because he wants nothing more than to get bent over his desk and receive some gratituous bunny dicking.
>tfw I own a Vita for Persona and 3DS for every other SMT game
Handhelds are great.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm having a blast with the game. Sure, the gameplay is a bit dated and it sucks that you have no choice in party composition until day 7, but I'm loving the story and atmosphere.
>What do you think of having a quest list in SMT games?
I love getting lost without keeping track of my shit in the game. It's incentive to keep yourself invested with what's going on constantly.
I always use graph paper for maps and write down missions in a notepad for the older SMT games. Feels pretty good.
This general hates Strange Journey now, are you surprised? If you ever enter a DeSu thread on /v/ it's all Overclocked circlejerking, waifuposting, and complaining about other SMT games being for hipsters.
I go full defense force if anyone talks shit about Soul Hackers.
It's only natural to get upset over a game you like being criticized when you clearly think otherwise.
They definitely reworked the later versions for the better. I recall not being able to charm or easily stunlock bosses in the iOS version, although I may be remembering incorrectly.
The only way the PS version is easier is that you have unlimited inventory. A nice convenience, but only lets you carry more of the shitty useless healing items, and the only real benefit is not having to toss magic stones for incenses or armors. Other than that, the PS version is actually moderately challenging and has required me to actually use demons.
Nah, most of Kichijoji is blown out, I'm not sure if there's anything left in that area of Tokyo.
anyone engaging in this kind of discussion is childish
it doesn't matter how old you are it could be a 80 year old man trashtalking
but arguing with someone over opinions is immature at all ages.
If someone enjoys DSO let him and if someone doesn't enjoy hit let him do that as well
I like DSO because it has a non forced 3 stage lucifer battle that is actually enjoyable
+ the original game was created for the NDS a horrible machine itself. I'm surprised its playable at all.
That man was dedicated to his cause.
>the PS version is actually moderately challenging and has required me to actually use demons.
Well shit, I'm going to have to play that now too.
>WAAAH WAAAH! He doesn't like my favorite shin megoomi tensei game!! He's obivously way too young to post here! Only reason he could dislike MY favorite game is because he's an edgy 12 year old!!
If you remember where to go, the PS version's not that tough to play. The items/spells have tooltips to remind you what they do, and if you can read katakana you can battle well enough. Hell, I got through Devil Summoner off the same basic knowledge.
Haven't jumped into that one yet, I started IF.. and SMT1 and ended up just playing 1/2 through SMT1 because it's so good.
Yeah, people love to hate on Yamato but he's better than that edgelord hands down. DeSu got some great characters but Naoya ain't one of them. The super deep voice isn't helping either.
Also, what the fuck is Honda's deal? He shows up as a desperate office worker, then the next moment he's suddenly Kaidou's stone cold sidekick. Though at least he got a good voice actor.
That's great to hear, been meaning to check out Devil Summoner but was hesitant for related reasons. Just have to learn kanji faster so I can negotiate properly.
I haven't played it but the petty thing that keeps bugging me is how literally they handled the new background art. In the SFC version Millennium battle backgrounds, you get weird fairy lights over bodies water and it overall has a surreal/comfy Monkey Island 2 pixel art vibe to it. In the PSX version they're just like "they're fucking streetlights, now piss off". Minor complaint that has nothing to do with gameplay but it gets under my skin.
Fuck Atlus USA. I need my goddamn Visionary Item scenes already,
especially *THAT* one.
>see the cutscene with the riders in Nocturne
>they say they're gonna show up in the vortex world
>assume it means they're gonna show up in Amala for some reason
>waste my time looking at nearly every fucking room
>turn off the game
>get back to playing today
>turns out they're waiting in towns after checking with the NPC
I'm already getting tired of this
