It had attacked me earlier. It seems like if they see you once, they'll tend to hover around wherever you are. Thankfully the game is pretty lenient if you do get attacked; you take damage and black out for a bit, but you wake up in the same spot and the monster is moved away from you. And there are healing sphincters everywhere. Still really unpleasant, especially the music and visual distortions if they're actively chasing you.

I guess they were trying to make it as pure and mystical as possible. They didn't paint a picture of Solas to ravish the quizzy's body. It's only as the game gets further and further in you start to see a little bad boy in Solas, until he's a villain.

I'm not great at "dealing" with horror games (especially first person, stealth horror) but I'm really enjoying it. The world and narrative are very interesting, and getting through a monster sequence and being rewarded with some small scale environment exploration and new pieces of information to dissect is satisfying. Let me know how you ended up liking it. I would recommend Daylight, but it wasn't really the best. I think I need to play more of it to see if it gains ground because the story was slow going as fuck. I also managed to scream out loud during game play because of one of those surprise oogies, except she attacked. I think I quit right after that actually.
