SUNDAY NIGHT FOR ANSWER
SATURDAY AFTERNOON VERDICT DAY
>Now I need a place to hide away
Official Strategy guide PDFs for 2, 3, and Nexus :
Leaving those there for now in case somebody wants to grab them.
And remember, even when you're playing video games, you still need to make sure the thread is doing fine.
>And remember, even when you're playing video games, you still need to make sure the thread is doing fine.
I have failed you all....
Oh, almost forgot.
Real talk about For Answer night.
I don't really have a good idea on when that's going to start because there's a Gatewatch prerelease that day and I have every intention on attending that. So I'll probably do that, get dinner, drive back, and then make a post kicking things off. Or y'all can get started early.
>There will never be a Chromehounds 2
Thought you guys would like to see this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdG6bzX2y54
W-we're not a dead community anymore.
>I want to talk about it so badly
We are not alone in that feeling.
I too splurge at my friends about how much i love Armored Core like a total geek.
Jesus, is AC2 supposed to be hard, or am I just awful? I'm new to the series, by the way.
If easy is left and hard is right, then I'd say 2 is just to the right of dead center.
I couldn't find anything too specific or reliable, but from what I'm seeing, 2 is apparently compatible with a mouse and any standard USB mouse or trackball should work on a PS2. Give it a shot with whatever mouse you have laying around.
last one, survive until morning.
It was the 2nd hardest. hardest would be AC2: Another Age. Dont worry, itll toughen you up for AC3: silent line and make IBIS your bitch. And Im pretty sure you will have good time with nexus and last raven.
to be fucking honest, that part of the video really hit me like a fucking truck.
I just want to talk about armored core man. The corporation. The arena. The build.
why cant I have no one to talk about it. Why normies insists on gendums being the only japanese mecha thing ever came out. Why nobody cared about the AI behavior of each pilots and its backstory. The arena effects when you kill them on missions. Fucking why.
Well the gendum games were fun back in the PS1/2 era. G Generation F were the peak of that series and that char's counter attack game was really good. Feds versus zeon dx and gundam versus zeta were the masterpieces of the versus games. TOO BAD that my normie friends all decide to stop playing them and jumped ship to the flashy seed versus games. What I am trying to say is AC games lacks the pickup and play availability when compared to the gendum games. Give my normie friends any versus games they'll be able to understand the game in a few minutes. Show them any AC games all they'll notice that why are we reading so many numbers, is this a math game or a mech game. So yeah AC games are like those 600 page long encyclopedias without a gimmicky cover and something you can recognize but if you do sit down and read it you might just learn a thing or two.
In all seriousness, there was a trick to learning the controls, which made it pretty easy to manage without the analogs.
>franchise which continued 8-10 installments after nexus
>"le controls killed it"
>counting the PSP rereleases
>game is niche as fuck and probably was always made at a loss
And the point was that the horrendous control scheme scared new people off, which is true.
It's a fucking launch title, people buy those regardless of their quality. There's also the fact that people that see that the controls are shit in one game usually won't bother with the sequels.
>There's also the fact that people that see that the controls are shit in one game usually won't bother with the sequels.
If that's true, then why did a SEQUEL sell more than the original ACs? Even being a launch title shouldn't have canceled that out.
> And Im pretty sure you will have good time with nexus and last raven.
Nobody have a great time with LR at first, NOBODY.
At least your normies friends know about gundam, my friends don't even care for anything that resembles a mecha. The only piece of sci-fi they like is star wars. At least I have the general.
Well, the control scheme of all Armored Core games put people off of them just like Monster Hunter. When you also consider how niche the series is, and how little marketing they get...
I mean, Armored Core for Answer got internet ads on gaming forums, for christ's sake. I almost didn't even know it was coming out.
And there weren't regular threads until after its release. This was before /vg/, if I remember right.
So, a lack of marketing, poor UI for normies, and controls with a sharp curve to 'get good' with, means that people just aren't going to pick it up and stick with it.
"Who doesn't like big robots" might be a rhetorical question, but if you can't pick it up and play, it's not going obe widely received.
Contrast this to how Demon's Souls was a sleeper hit. Tight controls, UI wasn't much better, but it was understandable, and Dark Souls, which got tighter, easier to control, meant that it was easier to blame yourself for mistakes than the game.
So, yeah, normies get turned off because normies don't like to 'get gud' if they can't even scratch 'mediocre' at first.
So once again, the normals ruin everything. It's so easy figuring out that no skill lynx up wih bratty kids. It's enough to drive a guy stark raven mad.
That really depends on what they do with it. We'd first have to know that a new Armored Core is coming. A lot of the UI can be kept, but some of the graphic design really needs to be fixed. The controls need to be c hanged a bit -- obviously they can't be changed too much without losing the feel. The emphasis on 3D movement is a big one -- something that the Souls series just doesn't have to consider, and that adds more complexity, too. Really, focusing on it playing well, actually getting some proper marketing, and some UI tweaks would go a very long way before you'd ever need to work on the controls.
It might be a good idea to just make 'Normal' mode easy enough for beginners to get into with a STABLE difficulty curve, with hard mode being as hard as the colloquial normal mode, and a Raven mode that would be like the older Hard modes. There are plenty of things that can be done to change up the game without sacrificing anything WE like from it...it just requires that effort. Considering where From Software comes from, its niche, how it has sustained a grown, they might not be ready to put in that effort...
Malapropisms like that are a diamond dozen. It's a doggy dog world out here, so you'll have to try better than that.
Downloading Verdict Day right now. What should I expect from the multiplayer
So, if FromSoftware does make another AC game, what is the most likely direction the game will go? They seemed pretty determined on making it squad based. Maybe they'll slow it down to try to force an even harder Chromehounds vibe. They could also polish their current idea, go back to 4's designs, or go back to standard AC designs. Which would most people prefer?
>why cant I have no one to talk about it. Why normies insists on gendums being the only japanese mecha thing ever came out. Why nobody cared about the AI behavior of each pilots and its backstory. The arena effects when you kill them on missions. Fucking why.
yeah it sucks having no one to talk about it
everyone i know is a total normie
but the thing that REALLY sucks is that what you said no longer applies to just armored core, it's basically ALL good games now
nuanced game design like that has all but vanished these days and i feel like those of us that appreciate that kind of stuff are also disappearing
point is we have to keep the love alive
thanks kzm good morale booster
even in hopelessness
>no longer applies to just armored core, it's basically ALL good games now
The sad fucking true, and normies are happy to take anything that have a huge publicty campaing, it doens't matter if the game is actually good and it doesn't matter if the 60% of the content is DLC or you have to get everthing by microtransaction.
But we are still here, to show some of that love those forgotten but good games deserve. Survive until the end /acg/.
This is probably my favorite Ayy Pool character imagination i've seen so far.
I call dibs on her and i'll make her wear glasses and thigh high socks.
glad you like it.
This is tied to how From Software cut ties with Sega. Sega, during its localization process, cut a lot from AC4. Rayleonard's Closed Plan, O'Brian's attack on Anatolia, and the reason behind it. They broke contract to do so, and From Software had a fit. Eventually, this led to cutting ties with Sega, and within the week, the Chromehounds server was shut down.
Chromehounds' design required a persistent world, like Planetside. Where AC4 and fA used a peer to peer system, Chromehounds used that, plus the persistent server, to link them all together. That's why it was possible to play Chromehounds through a work around -- the persistent server acted as the gateway the to peer to peer connection. Notably, AC4 and fA don't have that.
This is why they switched to Atlus, Ubisoft, and Namco for later games. This culminated in a number of fallouts for Sega, leading to a collapse of their contracts for other games, too.
Simply put, you don't break contracts, chucklefuck.
Not enough demand, maybe, or lack of the source code because Microsoft, perhaps. I couldn't tell you, honestly.
I can tell you I'd be first in line to buy Chromehounds 2, though.
...Just as long as chickenwalkergrenadelaunchers don't become a thing, again.
Fucking spacershields, man.
The persistent world is one that we really need to have for it to function correctly, or at all. It must just be, then, that the lack of that persistent world, which acted as a gateway to multiplayer, made it too difficult to work.
Teams are all dead. Some anons still play regularly but a lot of us just wait for gamenights that happen every now and then, generally on a monthly basis.
Also if you get online and get bodies hardcore don't be afraid to ask how to get good. We've all had that learning experience and can pretty swiftly point out what you might need to be doing that the game won't have told you about.
Ok. Thanks for the info. Currently trying to see if I can play with anyone but honestly everything feels ded despite the world map showing activity. Is this what Verdict Day truly is like?
>People either living underground for the next cycle or living on Mars
>NDW and Lynx War irradiated much of the surface
>Skirmishes between Zodiacs and then Reaper squads under fascist regime
Of course it's dead. But it will be reborn, again and again, as the cycle continues into perpetuity.
Or did you just think it was a coincidence for another series, titled with the same initials, to bear this?
Remember what Menno-Ruh said?
It's all a lie, Raven. All of it.
>Namco Bandai publishing Armored Core
>developing Ace Combat
IT'S HAPPENING. LEASATH DID EXAVIL
But AC isn't dead, didn't you read?
AC is a cycle that continues in perpetuity. We only await day when the sleeping Old King awakes.
Besides, AC7 exists. The next Armored Core can't be too far behind.
Crazy theories are good bumping material
Been stuck on the last mission of AC4A for months, send help
Already own a PS4....for Bloodborne. No regrets on that one. Ys 8 is gonna be on that, but I might go full onsokumaru and get it on Vita instead.
Better than getting the x bone.
You guys dead yet?
If it's Occupation of Arteria Carpals abuse the wall trick.
Well crap. No idea what to tell you, then. Have fun with the d-pad.
Yeah. I can do it in a heavy tank with only hi laser weapons.
Just a couple teams, mostly new players with junk UNACs, who are all on at different times of the day and do those boring vs. AI missions.
>point is we have to keep the love alive
So what you're saying is
So I take it no Saturday scrimm.
Guess it's back to working on these UNACs.
>I hate 5th Gen AC
You know, I find it hard to HATE it, I think maybe it's because it came after 4 and fA. You can't really top some of that, see. It felt slower, it played worse than fA on PS3, and its signature armor-type system had glaring flaws in both games.
If you went from Last Raven to V, you'd be blown away like we all were when we went to 4, then fA. Got too much hype. Otherwise, they're fairly decent.
>I hate 5th gen
>likes crappy not!gundam 4th gen
I'm a fan but i'm also critical about each game, i just do not enjoy the mechanics in 5th gen or the designs of 5th gen.
I like 3rd gen the best.
Oh, you mean the one in the pastebin?
Oh, and you're going to be there on the 17th, yes?
Getting an X-Box is on my to do list. Eventually. It'll also give me a reason to get the Steel Battalion setup.
Maybe after I graduate and make some sweet engineering dosh.
I'm already mad.
Is not like that, I like the car door, but I simple love those guns barrel.
Dude just gave up and released it as a 14 minute OVA. It's...ok.
Makes we wonder if I can find my old Armored Core compilation from 9 or 10 years ago.
From the description.
>A sequel is in the works, but it is going incredibly slow if you want to help speed it up please PM me! I will get back to you as soon as I can :)
I guess there is another version coming out unless the description is outdated.
Finally beat the last mission of 4A
Regulation 1.0 missles OP
They are working on something, is more you can vote for how the MC will look right now, check their facebook if interested.
Anyone interested on online games of Last Raven PSP version?
It looks you just need to get the LR-PSP ISO and use hamachi.
Thank mang, I was just about to bump
How do y'all build your sniper support ACs for Verdict Day? Trying to figure out how to build mine when I have to deal with the fact that Ready Position weapons can't be switched until they're purged.
lotta art floating around here. Requesting anything featuring the TYPE-HOGIRE or Noblesse Oblige from AC4A.
I'll follow that with another awkward comment. Because Char can only get it up with little girls.
which I have no problem with and Quess is love
>this general is still alive
Is there a more dedicated general on /vg/? This place has been here years and I keep forgetting it exists.
I find it hard to forget about Armored Core at all, that's why I come back. Something about the allure of the battlefield and the AMS.
I won't quit being a Lynx any time soon.
That title would be a honor and a curse at the same time
The Last Raven, the Raven that manage to survive until the end, the one standing at the top, he is the only one that Remember us, surviving the Fall of the serie, standing among the ashes of a forgotten fanbase, surrended by the ghost of thousands pilots, after thinking about his situation he would say.... nothing, since there's little need for words at that point.
He is the Last Raven, the last to person to know our story.
>Tfw you get to the final boss, then he kills you in one hit after a long battle where you were sure that he had like 0.0001 armor points left
Nineball, Zinaida, LiV. You name it.
I had that dream again guys. Where From released AC6, and it was the best thing ever, and it was on the PC too. I was so excited to play it, but when I tried to access the shortcut, my mouse broke. So I figured "i have it bound to the m key, which stands for mech". So I press that, but the key breaks off my keyboard entirely. So I'm trying to staple it back on and then my teeth fall out.
>Direct sequel of last raven.
>Many years after the events of LR the raven's nest is rebuilt, and a new generation of ravens appear.
You play as a Pulverizer that wasn't launched during LR due to malfunctions.
Your main objective is to hunt down ravens. Ambushing them while they are on a mission.
As far as we know
>pulverizers can't be customized
>forced orange/blue paint
>you will be so powerful that we will get ACFA levels of dificulty
>no operator for you
Unless is somekind of side-story the game is ruined.
Destroy Military Base > Escort Allied MT > Eliminate The Enemy AC > Battle Challenge > Destroy Raging Torrent IV > Eliminate Enemy Patrols > Destroy The ECM Devices > Prevent Reactor Meltdown > Destroy Air Assault Force > Eliminate Sorcerer > Intercept Enemy AC > Safeguard Industrial Area > Stop Last Assault Attempt. Eliminate The Enemy AC took me like forty tries to finish and it was enjoyable to say the least that i can experience such difficulty and still be a veteran of the series.
I still peek in here every now and then. Months apart?
Just to see who else still plays and remembers.
I rarely post though, cause nothing to say. But I hope there are many more like me.
Don't give up hope, everyone.
Cheesy as fuck starting AC from Silent Line, after grinding the first available arena battles.
Oh you cheeky little faggot.
I can't see why it would be something other than Karasawa + Moonlight.
>Collared ranking -0-
Kharak is burning
Didn't someone post a huge mega link last year with many of the soundtracks?
a ocasional bump is apreciated.
>Soul games hardest game ever
I laugh in the face of that, each time I replay LR.
because it's an iconic, insanely cool albeit traditional (when compared to other 4A frames) thing of beauty
does anybody have this image or any other like it in high res?
I'm on my second play through on AC4A, I'm foight'n the Noblesse Oblige. He's fucken tough! I'm also tied up on the base's defensive network. Anyone got any hints on how to beat this fuck'n guy?
we are hitting page 10 fast today.
Maybe after Hard Souls 3: A Hard Game for Tough Gamers comes out we'll get a AC game that isn't shit.
Hah, just kidding.
>Setting is on Mars
Seriously, I think Mars as a setting is so fucking under-explored in the AC franchise.
>ACs return to a larger, AC2-AC3 era Kawamori aesthetic
>Hover Legs return
>Transforming Leg Parts are introduced, which can transform between two types of Leg Types. (Tank to Biped, Quadroped to Hover, just to provide some examples.)
>Transformation times differ between individual leg parts, and weight, AP, and other factors determine how long it takes to change.
>Tuning is no longer limited to weaponry like it was in V and VD
>Customizing your hangar is no longer just aesthetic; what you buy to decorate your hangar can affect several factors, like repair/ammo costs in missions, shop discounts, performance of tuned parts, etc.
Disorder Units, and by extension, bio-radar make a return.
As you progress through the story/Beat the game the first time, you can unlock parts that allow you to make an AC out of a hybrid of Earth AC tech and Mars biotech, which renders it invisible to normal radar and untrackable to normal FCS.
Some bastard was crazy enough to take Nineball Seraph's/some Nineball expy's wreckage to Mars and fix the damn thing with Mars biotech, and now you have to face the resulting monster as a bonus boss. Good fucking luck.
>In the next game Nineball Seraph Supreme stays glued to you in melee form like the bipedal pulverizer from Last Raven.
I just need to make some credits so I can be a fairy queen soon and she's level 14 now. Also I have no interest in Galm's second emblem, besides I have more fun with the idols. Now with over 2k tickets yeah I bought a bunch of the messages because there's no other use for it right now.
PAID DLC WEAPSON WHEN!?
today I learned how to 3dsmax
and scaling in music
I still think that VD will connect to AC1 eventually.
In the ORCA ending of 4A (and probably destruction ending too since the anti-satellite cannon wasn't destroyed) the path to space is open, and the corporations will most likely seize the opportunity to colonize mars. There is also the possibility that the "Great Destruction" of AC1, the war that forced the people to live underground is the one The Foundation guy wanted to create after VD.
AC6 could easily connect them.
holy shit kayzedem
these are pretty good
man i want to know the backstory of these companies now
maybe depending on how each company operates, it can be reflected in their name
like what i mean is maybe viking weapon systems is a no nonsense GUN company (for example), but what if other arms manufacturers want to be seen in a better light so their company would have something like "defense solutions" or something more "business-friendly". use a thesaurus and pick words that reflect that particular corp's business philosophy
man my imagination is running wild
another thing is maybe get some more "icons" or imagery cause most of what you have is just text/colour. like the symbol before katyusha. fucking sick.
of course, everything can work with just text as well. but i mean thinking back to 4A, omer had the globe, technocrat had the rocket, etc. simple, effective shapes - simple is key though
man the top 3 are my favourites by far, so sick
No, the great Destruction is AC3.
In actuality, it goes AC3>AC1>AC4>ACFA>AC2>AC5>ACVD
The "Great Destruction" is Last Raven's true ending. Eventually, mankind breaches the surface, builds cities, flies, discovers the Kojima Particle...then destroys everything in their own lust for power and greed. Fascist dictatorships spring up, isolated patches of resistance. Life, a constant struggle...Only to eventually find the secrets from long ago, and use them once again.
Life, destroyed. But wait -- the destruction of the weapons platforms in low orbit allowed people to leave the atmosphere, to settle, and grow, upon Mars.
And so they return to a destroyed landscape, isolated patches of life. They recolonize -- SEED THE BARREN EARTH. Life underground until the halflife of the Kojima particle fades into nothing.
Only for the Pulverizers to find them again.
The Great Destruction is Past, Present, and Future.
Armored Core is a mobius strip -- a time loop.
And behind this time loop...The creators. 'Always watching, just beneath the surface.' Over and over again, since time immemorial. For time infinite.
Feel it in the will.
This is such a paradox, my brain can't handle this processing. It reminds me of the Bioshock Infinite ending.
Disregard that. It wasn't a prom. It was called something else. I think proms are a middle school thing, and the last thing I need is a perma ban if the mod thinks I'm underaged.
Look, you don't have to try to hide the fact that you played 'pretend' with your friend for money from us. We've all done things for mechs that we aren't proud of.
Favorite mission in Last Raven?
My favorite is probably when you fight Zuben El Genubi for the first time and get excited when you defeat him then all of sudden Rim Fire comes out of the AC garage and kicks your face in with his OP fingerbangers.
My answer to beating AC4A is Technocrat rockets! Took me awhile to get used to them, now I do not enter the battle without them, sometimes that's all I wear
I have to admit, I've only ever played Ac1 and Ac4A. I enjoyed the rocket pods in each.
If you can't appreciate flat, then you don't deserve the rockets as your waifu.
That mission where you break into the power plant, break some crap, kill Panzer Faust on the way out, and then have to deal with the tank Pulverizer.
That's, like, almost 50 orders of french toast, depending on your sales tax.
Or almost 100 pancakes.
Or almost 150 pancake puppies with ice cream.
Or all you can eat pancakes almost 25 times.
Leave Bokurano out of this.
I was more thinking of the weapon unlock DLC.
>Ahab Private Limited
Beautiful, though I imagine you're going to catch a lot of crap for spelling it Sheild.
>Setting is on Mars
Seriously, I think Mars as a setting is so fucking under-explored in the AC franchise.
Amen to that, brother.
>ACs return to a larger, AC2-AC3 era Kawamori aesthetic
>Hover Legs return
>Transforming Leg Parts are introduced, which can transform between two types of Leg Types.
There's nothing about this that doesn't have me erect.
Kinda ambivalent on that, but hey, whatever works.
Okay, this is pretty fucking cool on paper.
