So I've just been freeballing it thus far. Beat the sinner and giant, and have been kind of running all over, putting down my summoning sign, and guess I've overleveled because of it. Would appreciate any advice for my build. I don't know any of the meta stuff about SOTFS, but I remember "max level" in DaS1 was around 120-130, and I'm already almost there.

I am ranting. Please offer advice for my build, I'm attempting a strength/poise build. Is poise still as good as it was in DaS1? Its worked okay for me so far.

10 hours was an exaggeration, but if you had to use herbs and pure casts to kill them, it probably did take 10 hours.

Meta for DS2 is anywhere from 100 to 200, doesn't matter for you anyway since you won't be PvPing much with your first build
Leveling costs don't go up nearly as fast, you will be around 200 after beating everything in the game, maybe more depending on how much you die/redo areas while getting bloodstains
If you want a STR build just keep getting STR till 40/50 and have at least half of that for VGR END and VIT
Also physical defense is pretty shitty, try to keep your equip load around 50% so you wouldn't take a year and a half to regen stamina and that your rolls actually move you.

Elana took around 50 dark orbs to kill, that was spending some of them to to clear her summons, pure casting works just fine, you just have to actually get spells with casts rather than spend all your slots on 3 slot costs spells that have 2 casts. They take way less damage from magic than base game bosses sure, but in the base hexes are so strong its not even funny.

Poise isn't as good, but the amount you have is enough to tank one or two attacks from most PvE enemies.
I really wouldn't recommend having anything close to that stat spread, or that equip load %, that really hurts your stamina regen.
At least you have some ADP.

The meta level in this is 150. A small but notable portion of the playerbase goes to 200 and beyond.


Poise in this game is amplified by your weapons - ultra weapons like great hammers, ultra greatswords, halberds all double your poise while swinging.

No, sorry. I guess It came through that way. Those are the two major bosses I've beaten. I've also done Dragonrider, Ornstein 2.0, Ruin Sentinels, Gargoyles, Pursuer (and his clones(?) multiple times), Flexile Sentry, and just finished up the Chariot. (Probably forgot a boss or two) I've been summoned for about 40 bosses in other players worlds though.

Do I really need that much Adaptability? Its the new stat right, and affects how many i-frames you get? Also, with Dex that low I don't feel like I can wield most of the strength weapons I've been finding.

I'll try to aim for these. I'm a little worried about overleveling, and not being able to find anyone to summon/be summoned by. Its the part I'm enjoying most so far. Overall the game feels like a pretty major step down from DaS1, but I got it gifted to me, so I'm not really complaining, its still fun enough.

I'm all about the cosplay but you know what I am about even more then the cosplay is having actual damage on the weapon. According to wiki darksword+15 just has 205 physical, while lightning+5 has 205 physical AND 205 lightning, and chaos will have almost as much phys/fire damage as well as the scaling from the humanity

GRS still does mondo damage.
Dark Fog is pretty fucking great in PvE and at high cast speed in PvP. No one expects it, two casts is enough to poison people any time, and mossing allows a free nuke spell.

Just because he's a generic facless knight doesn't mean he can't represent his king and country through a coat of arms on his shield. That and the Knight shield with its shape, size, and bright colors is a fantastic contrast to the rather mundane and utilitarian mixed Knight/EK set. I'm entirely disappointed that the more colorful kite shields are completely shit in DaS2 nor do they look as good as the Knight Shield.

Only hope that DaS3 will have the Knight Shield return, or at least something similar and not made of glass.

Longsword with magic, fire or dark (dark or magic obviously being easier to get) do insane damage like 400 per light swing, when people only have about 1.2k hp you're doing very well
