>there are more ROTK postings on /fgog/ than eagg
Considering they have areblasters and ballistas and floating swords, they've already gone that route. Hell, I'm waiting for the obligatory C-Pop idol character if Bao Shittiang doesn't already fit that criteria.
Vertical split option when? With most modern screens being wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide you should end up with two square halfs which isn't bad. Right now it's just significantly harder to see ahead compared to fullscreen and 2P gets fucked in the butt by the textbox
>tfw me and my roommate fucked around in Char Customization mode for 4 hours striaght just making characters
>Our first playthrough was basically summed up as Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee fighting their way towards absolute rule of all of China with nothing but a bench and a pair of nunchaku
>Also our best friend we met along the way, a man named Dong Tuna
Our first playthrough of 8 Empires was far more entertaining than it ever should have been.
You've met Dong Tuna as well.
He's also in 8XL and pic related.
For the former, Toukiden is already getting a sequel and if anything they should just put some of the characters into WO4.
And I don't think we need another new franchise in the same genre, especially considering how many tries they usually need until they produce something of worth.
>Buy Samurai warriors 4-II
>Expect to see a story similar of the dynasty warrior games
>hoping to get to learn a bit about the sengoku period of japan
>mfw the story is a fucking disordered mess
Considering it turns into Game of Thrones and their last Emperor was basically Joffrey yeah definitely internal
Too opportunist to be the heroes of the story and China is in love with the Riverlands due to various reasons..
History-wise Wu and Wei are the main contenders and Shu is just a side thing.
The novel puts the blame for the failing of the northern campaigns and the fall of Shu on Liu Shan's retardation and corrupted officers, so that's not really the reason.
>that Xiang Yu's last stand in The Story of Han Dynasty
Holy shit, why the fuck he isn't an Orochi character again?
Also, is the guy who have see Legend of Chu and Han still here?
I would like to know how does it compare to it, I've found the old one a bit lacking once the real conflict started, too many things completely skipped.
amputated officers when ?
is that what they're planning to do from now on? since there's only one "historical" interpretation i wouldn't expect them to do it every single game though
and on the topic of 4-II, i gave it a go just now and it actually feels pretty fucking good. i know it's a revamp more than an expansion but there's no gay shit like DW's weapon affinity and the characters are nowhere nearly as clunky as they were in 3Z/O3U. the AI seems to be more aggressive too
>learning about Sengoku Japan from vidya
I mean if you wanna do that, get Samurai Warriors 4 vanilla or Nobunaga's Ambition: SoI,
Personally I prefer the stories not being too historical because I've gotten a bit tired of the same ol' unification story with the Samurai Warriors characters. Tired of it with Dynasty Warriors too, to be honest. Don't mind reading about it or seeing alternate character interpretations going through the motions but with same ol' SW Nobs and same ol' DW Liu Bei and stuff, it just gets dull.
Personally the way I would do it if you want a change to the system is have the story play out through your in-game actions.
Like if you're Wu/Shu side. You have to make sure the Chi Bi battle is won to keep the historical path. But if you lose and retreat (but not killed), then the story branches off to a what if path.
Finally. Now starts the long grind for Twilight and Termina maps.
Master Quest is at least on par with the original map for difficulty (ignoring the "rules"). TP and Termina were basically designed with the logic that you were level 100 to start with.
All I know is when a Candle card didn't work on a bush, that was the moment I decided to stop playing. Your level means jack when your defense and A-Rank requirements stay the same.
These people in Nobunagas ambition think they are a match for my age old tactics, do they not know I have experience dating from AD 180
That's Zelda 1, not Hyrule Warrior's fault, though. The Master Quest map's item cards are and difficulty is based on the second quest. So yes, there are a few weird squares where playing the flute is what you want to do.
I hated the Quest maps in this game. I especilly didn't like the long, accumulative tasks you had to do in order to unlock characters you wanted.
>Want to unlock Ruto
>Have to get a raft to go that
>Raft is on the other side of the map
>Have to unlock Zant to get there
>Have to find a magnifying glass to unlock the fight to get Zant
>Have to find a power bracelet to unlock the battle to get a magnifying glass
I hated it.
Don't get me started on what I had to do to unlock her 2nd and 3rd weapons, either.
>Wei - Wants to establish an empire based on strength and reason
>Wu - Just wants a land where its people can be safe
>Shu - Wants to restore a corrupt government that fell apart in the first place due to said corruption...because muh benevolence.
Why is Shu the worst kingdom?
>Liu Bei wanted to create a land for the people and stability and he initally thought that was what the Han was but he later realized this would not work nor be the case and died before being able to do anything constructive other than saying this land is Shu
>Wei did nothing but murder there way through China buthering people and exterminating families in his bid for power and greed wich would later be Weis downfall
>Wu was dropped on it's head the moment it was created filled with 'great' minds that created 'great' plans and then died before anyone could understand the plans leaving Wu in a continous state of I think this will work or lets Weaken the Weakest Kingdom of Shu so that we will be safe from Wei
>Lu Bu who fuckinf cares about anything lets create a land ruled by strength
>Ma Chao I really really want to kill Cao Cao and Han Sui keeps complaining his feet hurt
>Meng Huo yeah but have you seen Xu Rongs abs
>Zhang Lu I really like to get high and believe that a higher being will guide me
>Dong Zhou im so fat I need to rule so I actually have a chair that can contain my ass
Everyone and every kingdom was fucked in the three kingdoms hence why non of them emerged victorious or survived aside from people born later
>Liu Bei wanted to create a land for the people and stability
>Reminder that if Pang Tong lived, Shu would have won
>Reminder that if wasn't for Meng Da and Fu Shiren, Guan Yu would of lived and Shu would have won
>Reminder that if Liu Bei didn't loose his head Shu would have won
Reminder that had Guan Yu stayed with Cao Cao then Liu Bei probably would have give up on standing in Cao Cao's way of total dominion, and thus a lot less lives would have been lost.
Reminder that had Guan Yu been less of a cunt, Fan Castle probably wouldn't have happened and a lot of stupid deaths would have been avoided.
Guan Yu a shit.
If you mean Motochika and his whole Jrock theme in SW...
The real Motochika wasn't a pirate. That was something the SB team made up because one of the Chosokabe's alternate clan crests was a sailing ship. The real Chosokabe was kinda boring and really only of note as they were the big dogs on Shikoku. I mean, they did innovate a new type of farming, but... c'mon, which would you rather make, a clan of pirates or a clan of farmers?
No idea where Motochika's visual kei theme came from in SW though. I guess maybe to match the fact he was a prettyboy in his youth (his father called him "princess" mockingly)? But idk. A lot of Samurai Warriors's artistic licences are less history based than Basara's ironically enough, if more believable.
If you mean Gan Ning, not sure where you got guitar playing from with him.
It's good to know that this place is still as dead as usual.
I know the deal, bud. Lana's Summoning Gate is the worst weapon, and I'm not bothering with the 3rd tier weapon, either. It doesn't help that Ruto is one of the more 'unique' characters to use. Even Fi and Agitha are more tolerable to use.
Either way, it's too tedious for me to even attempt, and that says something when a musou is tedious for reasons not relating to its usual flaws.
Reminder that if Ma Teng wasn't such an imbecile Tong Pass would have been a resounding success and his clan would be safe
Reminder that had the Xi Liang coalition not been so brittle and fall apart Ma Chao could have killed Cao Cao and his clan would be safe
Reminder that if Wang Yi had not been a traitor then Ma Chao could have taken Xi Liang back and the second part of his clan would be safe
Had Zhang Lu not been such a traitor and coward then the last part of the Ma clan would be safe
Ma Chao the general and warlord constantly betrayed and let down by the people around him
Would be great if the game details more on the other factions that the main three had to deal with during this time. More battles with Shanyue, the Ma clan, Zhang Li, the rebellions Wu faced with Vietnam etc
>Nobunaga's Ambition SoI
Intense and cool gameplay up until you become big, then either you just hit the "I win button" or send your dudes to conquer other dudes and sit waiting for it.
I miss Iron Trinagle's kessen system. It allowed you to end the game with a bang.
so what is this general about? games where you kill chinks? or just any dynasty warriors-style game or something? The genocide in the title keeps grabbing my attention whenever I go to /vg/
pic probably not related
>so what is this general about? games where you kill chinks? or just any dynasty warriors-style game or something?
Both of these and sometimes other games made by Koei. Toukiden, for example, doesn't have the players kill chinks and techniquely isn't a Musou, but is also welcomed here.
It's largely a general Koei thread with discussion of Musou-esque games as well. There was never much room to come up with a thread title that was more descriptive, so we just accepted the one that was the catchiest.
>There are actually people out there that like Yukimura more then his clearly superior brother.
not sure if the anon who wanted this is still here
what is this meme? she has a shit weapon, looks like shit, acts like shit, is basically a shit version of her sister who is superior in EVERY way objectively and subjectively speaking
i didn't play as her, whoever made the image did
besides i think it was either guan yinping or bao as the playable choices
what you mean like a complete cockbag to everyone that isn't liu bei/zhang fei
>what you mean like a complete cockbag to everyone that isn't liu bei/zhang fei
don't be mean guan yu was autistic
Man if I had a dollar for each time someone made a joke with He Man or Dong Tuna, I'd buy us our own website.
I just beat Wei's campaign. Cao Cao was actually based, and I didn't find myself hating him one bit. Best officer dying got me, though.
Wu, or Shu next?
Wu, Shu then go back and beat Wei's alt ending for the true ending experience
if you're playing dynasty warriors 8 that is
This is the order I played it in for XLCE:
>Lu Bu hypothetical
>Currently going through Jin hypothetical to finish it off
Oh yeah, can anyone help out? In the stage select screen there's the canon and the hypothetical routes. Then there are a bunch of hidden stages at the bottom. Anyone know how to unlock each of them? Or link to a guide that explains it for each stage?
I've played a little in Ambition mode, and when I went to finish up Wei, it told me I had more hypothetical scenarios added. Just play more of the game, maybe? Or perhaps you have to do something specific in one of the levels.
Can someone direct me to a torrent for Story of the Han Dynasty? I found this
but I don't see a download link anywhere
> "This river shall be the end of Liu Bei and Sun Quan! Go forth my elite troops, and seize me victory!"
can't find it so here? i forget which site i used so here you go
production values are decent, if you don't know much about the history it's a bit confusing because they throw a bunch of stuff at you
ps liu bang is a complete dickhead
two words anyone should never want to see together
Chunhua fans get angry when they realise the truth.
Is it bad that I like they gave her Chun's hair so now it's impeccably easy to just shoop more Kasuga fanart into existence with some color editing?
>hate the fuck out of lu bu
>fucking edgelord tough kid nothin personnel asshole
>laugh when he gets executed
>watch the show
>lu bu is actually an endearingly simple manchild who loves his diaochan more than anything else and having fun
>i sob like a bitch for half an hour when he's executed
why couldn't they have just made him a dick? christ, that was heartbreaking
You should play Legend of Lu Bu, the fanmod of Legend of Cao Cao. That one has a really well done story despite being just a fanmod and has a very sympathetic Lu Bu.
>is it bad
Chun costume without the hairstyle is fucking stupid anyway, they should always come as a package.
Pic related is an atrocity and this is coming from a dude who loves short hair so much.
Why are the heroes subject Demonization in this timeframe while the villains are given a fairy tale story?
>Possibly a mistake.
No mistake, an English SubID on SteamDB just means that the English version is planned, not that it's going to be released on the same day as the Japanese one.
Yukimura is a stupid mongoloid who couldn't quit and the fact that several different and unrelated characters fellatio him through the game is mind numbing.
How did this secondary character from SW1 became at the same time, the main protagonist of the series AND the main antagonist? Shit doesn't make sense and he sucks in both roles.
At least when HE does something stupid or morally questionable his character sells and reacts to said actions as such.
The anime was even somehow worse than SW4-II for both characters.
Where did you even get the impression that he was a secondary character? The dude is the series poster boy since day one you mongrel.
>shit doesn't make sense
The only thing that doesn't make sense is the gay brother rivalry/bond shit. Yukimura was the last resistance against Tokugawa and naturally he'd be the main antagonist and protagonist, depending on which side are you on.
>mfw just won SW4-2
Suck my dick, Koei, I would've never paid money for that.
I don't have a Twitter account, so I guess I'll wait for it to go on sale...
And Xiahou Ba's Siege Spear, what the shit? I like it, but holy fuck, ancient China was not THIS advanced.
I know, but at least the ballistae, rams and catapults are logical. That spear just stood out to me more than the swords or any of the other weapons. I love Ba and that weapon overall, it just took me by surprise.
>no magic fan lasers
I don't believe you
I realize what I hate most about Ambition mode: I time out more than I get defeated. Those maps and your character being slow as molasses does not help at all, even with a horse.
>ieyasu fuck off REEEEEEE
>tfw have been waiting for Osaka campaign since forever
Wrong. What >>127935575 said, there's someone for everyone, and it's why I like the main series to all the other spin-offs that tend to overlook their characters for oddballs and flavors of the month. It's funny when the main series has the main faces, the lesser knowns and the oddballs all in one. I'm serious, I'll be more mad if they cut someone at this point.
Cai Wenji, and I use her, too.
>I'm serious, I'll be more mad if they cut someone at this point.
Yeah me too. There's some that'd make me stop buying the games if they got cut because I got attached to them and then the rest is just a case of "don't cut these fuckers because at least ONE guy will get mad".
Well and if anything I'll be the one to get mad because they really don't need to cut anyone.
Agreed. As much as I shit on Bao, I'm not wishing for her to get cut. Again, I can't fathom how a main series gets its roster right, but the spin-offs don't even attempt to do that half-right.
Then if we're at least 1/4 as tough, we can make it!
I had been looking into it, but goddamn there's so many versions. I just grabbed them all, I'll test which one is the best. I'm not expecting Sengoku 3, but ROTK setting is good enough.
Bow with trick arrows like Hawkeye
Metal knuckles for a non grappling pure beatdown moveset
BECAUSE he was the poster boy on a Koei game actually, up until that point, beign a poster boy means you get a couple missions dedicated to you and that's it. Hell it's still true to Zhao Yun. Do you even Koei, bro?
>Last Resistance against Tokugawa
>Naturally he'd be the main antagonist and protagonist
SW1: Focus on Oda
SW2: Focus on Sekigahara
SW3: Focus on Yukimura in the Hideyoshi/Mitsunari Ishida Army
SW4: Spread out focus on several clans, still a heavy Hideyoshi bias just by shear character numbers
SW4-II: Fucking Kojuro Katakura reaching a platitude where he praises Yukimura as an example of dumb fellatio to a character that has nothing to do with him.
By the way, all game had an Osaka campaign stage. In SW1/2, Yukimura is seen as a more tragic figure. He "sells" his lost at Nagashino, has a second wind with his Kanetsugo/Ishida friendship (And Shigen/Kunoichi on the first game). When he goes on his Osaka mission, he pretty much knows it's a lost cause. There is more weight to it.
In SW3, he doesn't really give a fuck about any of his constant loses and is compared to fucking Honda Tadakatsu in a couple SW Chronicles stages.
In SW4-II there is a voice clip where he pretty much shrugs the death of Hideyori and keeps fighting anyway, perpetuating the age of chaos and killing a bunch of people in the process because "muh samurai spirit".
Do you get it, the point I am trying to make?
They removed all the complexity of the character andhaving him as the main protagonist in one story and the main antagonist in another sucks because the character sucks now.
Don't even have to go that far, just watch the horrible anime and try to defend neo-Yukimura. You can't, bro.
This guy gets it. Though hopefully this is just a stupid thing in 4 and Koei will drop it to have a different approach in future installments, or at least go with the anime approach where Yukimura participated in Osaka because he was riled up to do so by many factors, and in the end accepted that he is a relic of old and went to face his death honorably to pretty much put an end to the Sengoku.
Lots of its content is repeated though and if you take a careful look at it, the content sucks a lot. I'd go for a more detail post for why, but it's midnight where I am, so maybe later.
i tried watching the new one. peter ho is no hu jun
it's like the new shui hu zhuan vs the 80 or 90s version. why.jpg
if you want more hu jun check out the great revival.
some other good ones are
>han wu da di
>dan han tian zi
>shui hu zhuan 1983
>shui hu zhuan 1998
>da qin di guo
>jing zhong yue fei
>Jackie's name, Sing Lung, means Already a Dragon
Jackie is Zhao Yun's descendant
Yeah the actor for Lu Bu is an incredibly endearing manchild and I love him so much.
He never comes across as actively malevolent, just a poor judge of character and impulsive as hell.
I gotta admit, I like the bromance that Sun Ce formed with Tai, Ci and Yu. A shame he ended up dying. And something tells me based boat user isn't going to make it, either.
So, the other guy will die then. And I picked him, too. It's Dian Wei all over again.
SoI before the PUK (US version comes with PUK pre-installed). Battles were a lot less intuitive, just press those buttons in the corner of the screen.
I kinda miss how the battlefields ended up looking along with the little camps on either side but I guess that's what comes with making the combat deeper.
Hell yes. Also
>posting best characters
Kasuga and Kenshin have pretty neat stories in Sumeragi, imo, even if you can't understand Japanese that well.
Huh I see.
Also, how come the crest colors are different in the PK version compared to the original? I saw some screenshots where the Oda crest is yellow+black, isn't that the correct one?
I figured it was poisoned, but I had some hope he'd make it with just a bum leg. Almost every fight ends in a damn death. Wu niggas got it bad.
Wu usually dies via arrow.
The Shu-Han obviously
Just kidding it was Jin
>tfw my Wu brothers failed to unite the land
/eagg/, Katsuyori has decided to hire you as his top strategic adviser. Nobunaga's homosexual son has created coalition against Hideoyoshi together with Shibata, Tokugawa, Ukita, Chokosabe and Mori. So far we decided to postpone joining the coalition so we could destroy the Tokugawa. The Oda and Shibata have been fighting Hideoyshi for a while but have reached a stalemate. Meanwhile, Hideyoshi is being pushed back in the east by the Mori and Chokosabe. The Hashiba, Oda and Shibata are all weak from the fighting, and we could strike one of them while we still have an advantage. We're at a critical point for the redemption of our clan, should we:
1) Join the anti-Hashiba coalition and try to defeat Hideyoshi while he's under pressure and can become too powerful
2) Turn around and engage the Hojo with the Uesugi
3) Attack the Shibata or Oda from behind while they're busy with Hideyoshi and engage him later on
Don't remind me. Wu is for the children.
Clash of the Sixteen Kingdoms when? Implying Koei will attempt to go that route with many characters we already have
Nobunaga sold 17,363 copies and over half of that got bough full price.
Do the math. And most Koei games already come with english translations for Asia and Nobunaga has PC releases in Japan so selling that on Steam is like a no-effort method to make money.
>Why aren't you hunting yourself some merch.
I'll just leave this here.
Got this from Greg. Pretty cool guy to sit down and talk to. :3
I don't watch anime much nor do I watch them dubbed so I have no idea what I am supposed to be surprised at
Jin's story, especially on Historical path, is basically "Fuck off Jiang Wei, the videogame".
They should really introduce some Late Wu characters, but beyond Lu Kang, I can't think of anyone who's (a) notable, and (b) not a complete asswipe who KT would have to whitewash to make an acceptable playable character.
They did put Xiang Yu in Strikeforce 2. He dual wields greatswords, and has a few battles against Lu Bu.
IIRC, there's a gimmick with how you use his charge attacks that maximises their range.
She stopped being worst girl when Bao became playable.
I thought Liu Bei was too busy raging and coughing up blood at Baidi Castle to write a letter? Unless it was that smartass Zhuge Liang faking Liu Bei's signature.
the game seems to imply it's to stop further bloodshed
>(b) not a complete asswipe who KT would have to whitewash to make an acceptable playable character.
I don't see why that's an issue. What's wrong with having a bad guy? I'd fill Late Wu with bad guys, make out Lu Kang as the last real hero within Wu like he was.
>What's wrong with having a bad guy?
Nothing. And if we lack a good number of them, I'm all for having more storylines where a division is suddenly corrupt and filled with bloodshed.
No worries. Xiaobros are like family to me.
And then they're going to make them found a j-pop band or some shit?
Go away, I'd rather have them actually add the last remaining family member of the faction focused on being a family instead of another fucking Guan kiddy.
C'mon, it's genius. She can be the imouto to everyone else and cheer them on with her spunky and energetic personality! Even the enemies will find her adorable and she'll have the whole battlefield dazzled by her charm.
Seriously, you know they'll probably add someone like that, with a broken moveset. Bao was only the beginning.
I don't want another Guan, I was just fucking about. That won't stop the devs from forcing their shit taste onto everyone else. Give me some more veterans and leave the idolshit where it belongs.
They died before they could savor it.
DW should remove every female in the game because women shouldn't fight and it would cut the bloated roster. They should also redesign all of the fags and gays and make them awesome and cool badasses. The games were so much better back when there werent gayboys and dumb women. Everything was downhill after 5.
Come tell old uncle liu bei why you're so dead
The official suffering rankings
>1) Ma Chao
>2) Yu Jin
>3) Ding Feng
>Cheng Pu because he's still not a character
>The people of Shu
Feel free to add more
>Anyone but Liao Hua
Dude first picked up a sword to fight for freedom yet got oppressed mercilessly, wandering aimlessly around the land for 20 years or so, then lived to the rise and fall of Shu, while seeing all of his friends and loved ones died after one and another.
Yeah but Ma Chao had that three tmes with one of them being while he was outside his castle walls while his clan had their throats slit and where then thrown over the walls at him. Ma Chao also lost his him lands and anyone else he came across he was straight up cursed with people dying he couldn't take a shit without it somehow causing someone to die.
there needs to be a tv show where it houses the saddest warriors in all the three kingdoms
everyone is on the verge of suicide but they never go through with it
Is it okay to call this post sexist as fuck or does that make me an SJW?
Can I at least call it retarded?
Seriously some of the most interesting characters in Dynasty Warriors are women (Wang Yi, Lianshi, Yinping, Yueying), and the blandest, least inspired characters are all "awesome and cool badasses" like Zhang Liao, Pang De, Guan Yu, and Taishi Ci.
Like shit, even the blandest most boring woman (Cai Wenji) is more interesting than at least ~15 of the dudes.
Waifufag plz leave.
I thought the consensus is that literally no one likes that annoying little shit, why are you being a contrarian anon?
You're a faggot. Not only are the most interesting not women since they hardly did shit historically, the guys aren't bad. Not before you try to shit on me. Xiao Qiao is my favorite, but realistically she shouldn't be playable.
I do like some of the female characters, but so many of them are just bland attachments to their husbands. SW handles the female characters much better, to be honest.
Also ROTK XIII is looking pretty great. I'm so excited to play a ROTK where you get to be an officer again. VIII and X were my favorites up till now. I still remember this crazy ass playthrough of VIII where I played as the legendary loser Pan Feng and after several defections and rebellions later, basically had my own kingdom in the Wu areas along with Lü Bu tier stats.
>Cao Pi issued an imperial decree: "During the Battle of Hefei, Zhang Liao and Li Dian defeated an enemy force of 100,000 with only 800 foot soldiers.
>defeated an enemy force of 100,000 with only 800 foot soldiers
You dare talk shit about the legendary War God himself?
He didn't. That's how.
Still an impressive feat. Zhang Liao was a great general. he also commanded Cao Cao's vanguard against the Wuhuan at White Wolf Mountain and defeated Xiahou Dun/Liu Bei alongside Gao Shun while working for Lü Bu.
The funny thing is that I stole Lü Bu's weapon in that playthrough and that Pan Feng's war cap was actually 100, so by the end of the game I was literally the strongest warrior in the land.
Guan Yu would literally use his beard as a weapon. It would turn itself into a blade, hurl things or strangle things.
Taishi Ci would also have an epic beard and the two would compete over beards, though Taishi Ci would use a weapon that's a gatling gun crossed with a bow.
Zhuge Ke would be a character from the start and could turn into a demonic monster (see: his death in the novel)
Cao Cao and Sima Yi would be dicks like in Destiny of an Emperor.
Yuan Shu would be a joke character who seals enemies up using imperial talismans or some shit.
Xiahou Dun would freak out every time he saw somebody eating a shish kebab because it reminds him of how he lost his eye.
Lü Bu would be a literal god and could make people explode just by staring at them.
They'd throw Dong Tuna in there just for the English word pun and he would literally be a walking, muscular fish man.
Liu Bei would be some kind of beastman and this would explain his long ass ear lobes.
Ma Chao would be an alien.
Meng Da would be in the game and notably have a fat horse.
Probably you could expect other really bogus characters like Hua Tuo, Zhang Lu, Ma Jun and that Vietnamese chick who rebelled against Wu.
