>Doug's voice clips include "Princess"
Everything has been worth it
I'm going to go to pound town on this Witch.
I got a question about the fish cage in SoS.
Seeing as they're super cheap and you can only use one at a time, do they blow up on you often and you lose all your fish or what? What's the catch with them?
Agate's first heart event is pretty damn lewd. I might end up picking her instead of Angela.
>What's the catch with them?
They break up when you harvest fish on it three times.
If you leave a fish while harvesting when it's due to break, you lose that fish.
Someone should confirm what happens when you cultivate king fish on it. Some anon posted that it frequently breaks when you try to do so.
They do have a pretty high failure rate. When they break all the fish inside get away. HOWEVER, that only happens if you take fish out. If you do the "take all but one" option, you still have all the fish you took, but the one gets away. Minor annoyance at worst. But don't take your fish out until you are good and ready.
If only Elise were older like in most of her fan art, the game would be 15/10. I actually managed to delude myself into thinking that the fan art Elise is the real Elise until I got the game.
>win my first field challenge
>it's for the flower field
>realize I can't get any flower seeds yet (summer of year 1)
Also managed to already get to Raeger's second event, which was pretty good. I was planning on waiting it out and see more before I decide on a husband but I think I'll stick with Raeger instead.
May i also ask when do flax seeds become available, im still waiting to make my flax empire. I have all these traders now and shits getting overwhelming to think up everything i need to be buying.
>already made seed maker
>on my way to make sewing hut
>no Flax seed yet
I shouldn't have send my latest batch of onions to Cabin country, that was nearly 50k thanks to raised base price
I like conquest challenges. I can't beat them in festivals, but I sure as hell can beat them in a shipment race. It's also fun that you have only a few days time to prepare your shipment batch, so every minute of the day is used for moneymaking.
Just fertilize everyday, harvest the crop, put it in the seed maker, plant it, rinse and repeat. You've just got to be persistent. It's a gradual process, and one season won't be enough time to get you all the way to 5*.
Or you can whore yourself out on multiplayer. I got 5* flax seeds from a random in exchange for helping him transfer his items between his two save files, and my cousin gave me 5* sweet potato seeds. I think I'm going to try and not take anymore shortcuts though. I feel like a cheat.
I hope the conquests won't get harder the more fields you own in SoS. I'm holding back my precious stone reserves from the shipping challenge for the tall crops field. I can only wish that my half-assed attempt will succeed so I can start my flax empire
Have you ever played any harvest moon game before?
Also it needs a few hours to really get going, there's a lot to the game and without the game explaining you'd be stuck using a guide all the time>>127599670
The beginning is really slow, which is par for course for a Harvest Moon game, but I feel it's especially pronounced in SoS. I was bored when I first started, but now I'm overwhelmed with how much there is to do in a single day.
I personally really love taking my livestock to the safari, furfilling requests from different venders, and conquest field system, but that's all stuff that you'll have to play for an in-game month or two before you unlock.
It all comes down to preference, though, so if the core aspects of the game don't appeal to you, the characters aren't interesting to you, it's not engaging enough, etc, then just put it down for a different game.
>summer 16 year 1
>got Raeger at Blue flower already
>everyone else is still at white
I feel like I shouldn't haste into getting Raeger as a boyfriend but it's so tempting. At least I don't have all the reverse ring shit ready yet
am i only able to grow flax in the Tall crops field or can i also grow it at the farm and are other crops only growable in certain fields? i checked the links in the OP but they only mention the seasons they grow in
also do all year crops like flax die in winter or do they just not produce crops?
Does the shipment challenges get any harder as the years go by?
It's only summer first year for me, I picked "quantity" and shipped ~250 items. Ended up losing to Elise who shipped a whoppin' 560 items, like really nigga? I had to load and cheese her with a few stacks of fodder that I saved up.
If the quantity goes up as the years go by, I'm not sure how much fodder I'll need to stock.
They do get harder the more you win. Make sure to pick other competitions, since each competition seems to be its own advancement path. Variety is a good one, since you have the ability to craft crap, and I'm 95% sure different star levels count as different items (pic related). Also, make sure to renew so you don't have to go through it again.
Coop should be pretty high priority, but not over tools. Having lots of eggs is pretty nice, and they are good for trade requests.
Pixiv under the 牧場物語 tag.
You can grow them on your farm. It's an all-year round crop so you can grow them on winter.
Old tools are a stamina waster. You should upgrade them whenever possible. Give priority to the Watering Can, then the Axe and Hammer, Brush, Milker and Clippers, and the Sickle and Hoe last.
It gets harder the more Trade Countries you unlock.
It's really slow in the beginning. Later on it picks up and before you know it, you're scheduling timetables on your head for the numerous things you have to do.
I won the tall crop field challenge. 35k, 30k, 30k. This time, though, my opponents doubled their profits compared to the previous challenge. Well, none of it matters anymore since I can finally start my flax empire, and in the future none will have the ability to oppose me and my wealth!
>trying to make next level of longsword
>need devils blood
>tfw you don't have any because every time you get it you throw it at the doctor
So how do you fags prepare for Act III? Because Sharance are suicide at 120-150
I've been gathering materials from LK but despite getting Orichalcum there isn't really anything I can do besides upgrading my equipment and making the final level of farming tools
Do the small cutscenes that show a character having a crush on you ruin random events happening? I was resetting for over half an hour trying to get act III to trigger to notice the scene happen with Forte
when going to throw birds at Dylas for being a cunt
I won the Summer harvest, and the best thing was that I took the victory from Fritz. About 30 more days and I will steal his grain field which he somehow managed to obtain from Elise. I will not relax until I've made his life extremely miserable.
Lots of character events/development and a more detailed daily routine instead of (mostly) teleporting around. Things advances with time instead of having everyone stop changing within the first spring. Risks like people leaving unless you do stuff within some years
>giving Dylas cookies on Valentine's Day as Lest
I knew what was gonna happen but I couldn't resist
I'm broke in SoS until my first batch of flax is read. I'm going to hoard two batches of golden thread or whatever it was and then acquire conquest victory by shipping them all at once! Bastard Fritz, prepare to lose your final rental field!
That fucking general store gift.
It's just sitting there, taunting me.
I thought I had the imaginary money for everything I could possibly want until that motherfucker came along.
It's goddamn winter and I'm planning ways to squirrel money away into summer.
I wish they used more lines for the daily dialogue instead of the TV in SoS
It would be nice to see the lines change a bit or have more variation, especially with higher flower levels.
Or did RF4 really spoil me too much
That would be nice, I'd be happy with just some more variation in lines though.
SoS is really great otherwise, I like that to need to think about what I ship and what I hoard to get the right fields and the best prices etc.
The above is also the reason I don't get why this game wasn't made with an older audience in mind, I can't imagine a kid really understanding all of it.
If they're living on their own, if I remember correctly(since it's this way in the other RF games too), you get their FP high enough and you can visit them early in the morning and late at night when their place would usually be locked up
>start using Raccoon Leaves and Ten-Fold Steels in forging
>now I can straight punch across the map
>still nowhere near as broken as it can get
Was there a emulator bug in the older dolphin regarding Frontier? Because when i played some years ago, relationship increases took forever. Like a single friendship point during the entire spring, and half a love point despite giving favorite gifts daily.
Now, with the same iso as then but the new dolphin, things actually progress, already two love points on Selphy despite not really trying etc within the first spring.
>how do you use rare cans to get better drops exactly
I figured I might as well try. I'm almost done with Sharance Maze and every item I need for forging/crafting are rare as fuck. I haven't even seen a Light Ore in all my playthrough.
which outfits restore stamina?
There certainly is alot to do when you get later.
>all these fucking animals
>push there fat asses outside
>some need to be something to get an item from them
Is there even a way to get someone to do it all for you? I aint even got to the part of making a massive fucking field and god knows how much more id be on suicide watch by then, then theres talking to some people, giving shit to your main hoe, TRADERS, SAFARI OGOD.
There's a ton to do and it's hard to shrink the game down.
All I want is to be a fancy farm baron who sits on my fat ass telling my workers what to do and occasionally making fantastical dishes and dominating festivals.
I'm childish, but I still find this funny.
>Fritz enters with some ugly dog suit
>his dialogue after is "did the judge notice how worn in the seat that outfit was"
So I have 3 public fields including the flax empire one.
I can't take care of all of them, should I give one of them up? Thinking of just giving up on my root crops field and keeping the flower one
No reason not to keep them all. Just be like me and be the detriment of the town's well being by having every field and using none of them and only selling the towns unrenewable resources to traders for money.
That'll teach those bastards for not appreciating my cooking.
Ignore the placeholder graphics. How does my town generator look?
Questions comments complaints welcome
I'm trying to make it comfy
A little strange how the house on the right has two doors while the house on the left is made out of two squares rather than one rectangle.
Put some snow on the bushes and add fireplaces in the house if you want to make it comfy.
Something off about the house on the left is how the only entrance that it has is kinda awkward to get to cause of the path. Maybe have multiple sets of rooms that make up the houses?
That house IS made up of rooms. Those aren't two houses.
You can tell because it only has one bed. The game only adds as many beds as the NPC needs.
That said, why do you think its one house and how can I make it more clear that it's not?
It's like this right? But yeah like >>127676670
said it's important where you place furniture and which room is where. I'd make more sense for House 1's entrance to be the dining room than the bedroom.
Ohhhhh, is wine worth bothering with? If it is, then thanks for pointing that out to me. Actually might be better than flax in some ways, because you don't have to water trees.
I've got the winery built but I haven't done much with it so far, because none of the villagers I like like wine as a gift. But I've got lemons to 5 stars and peaches to 4.5, and once I wrangle that orchard off of Elise, I plan on actually planting all the different saplings I have sitting in my toolbox + upgrading them, so I'll look into selling wine for some variety. Growing all flax just feels cheap and boring.
Sweet potatoes are also really good, because if you plant them in the root crop field they harvest every day. I cook them up and use them for stamina-replenishing, so I can actually finish watering all my fields and and take care of all my lifestock without being screwed on Wednesday when Raeger closes up shop. I imagine when I actually decide to work on ice/tropical country, I'll be cooking up the stacks and stacks of sweet potatoes I have sitting in my fridge.
I disagree on the bed thing. That sounds more like how you guys would personally do it.
If you look at it, the bed is actually by the TV. So maybe the guy watches TV before going to sleep
No idea of length of production,, but it sells for a lot so if you had an orchard of a particular seasons fruit and you were able to get a load i bet you could make alot of money.
>is wine worth bothering with
As a Frenchman, I spit on you.
Personally, I would put the bed behind the door by the second room so that if there's a burglar, he can't see me when entering the room.
And I dunno, but if that guy has guests, they have to walk in front of his bed to reach the table.
mfw I didn't think of any of this when I programmed it
I'm glad I was able to fake complexity atleast
I'll keep working on it and get back with you guys later
Just set a few predefined positions for the furnitures depending on a personality. Paranoid would have the bed in a corner, confident would have the bed in the middle of the room, retarded would have the bed in the entrance, stuff like that.
Stop smoking it.
The Orchard's more useful for growing lumber trees than fruit trees. 16 days growth time from 20 days is a lot of growth time shedded off. All of my fruit trees are grown on greenhouses, and my very prized Cherry Trees get a greenhouse full of it. It really helps that wine production from your prized fruit is year-round rather than once a month.
Wine is on the products category, so it definitely helps with the 10k products requirement (7k for Seedling).
Stop blazeing it.
Some animal temperaments will have them either churn out HQ products, produce one more than the maximum, or high star rank products. There's a chart somewhere where it explains all of it. Just Google it.
The most straightforward solution is to have that animal spend 100 hours in the Safari. It will produce HQ producta all the time of you do that.
Just fertilize everyday just like how you water everyday. When you harvest them, they'll have more star points, even if the star rank hasn't visibly increased. Turn the resulting crops into seeds, and fertilize some more until you hit rank 5.
After that, you just have to make sure you never forget to set aside crops to make the next harvest's seeds.
Since I don't have a seed maker yet, I guess I shouldn't bother with fertilizers yet.
Another question : there's apparently a conquest system. Can I play without having to bother about it, or is it mandatory to unlock new stuff?
>fuss with fertilizing and how much stock you have of fertilizer and weeds
>fuss about stocks of items and items you need for different things
>fuss with animals that just keep getting to be more and more, feeding them, petting them, treat giving, pushing them outside, collecting there materials, brush them
>fussing with stamina
>fussing with people
>making sure you have something for your partner
>watering plants a second time
>checking your items some more
>if vendors there maybe fuss with what blueprints are more important
>fuss with what to sell
>fuss with not getting back to late so the animals arent out too late
The list goes on.
>use guide in OP
>Marian uses the same outfit, just without the hat
Start a new game.
You can. It's not really detrimental to gameplay, but you can unlock seeds early if you win a field. i.e. getting the Spice field lets you unlock Chili Pepper seeds early, unlocking the paddies unlock paddy crops, etc.
I was talking about these.
But you're right, they aren't really good anyway.
alright so I just played slime rancher and now I want to play a real rancher game.
I'm a poorfag so I can't buy the 3DS versions and there's like four different harvest moon DS games. What do you guys recommend?
There aren't that many pics of her without her hat so I'm just going to say I disagree with that because I think that she always looks cute.
>several dates in
>Doug suggests the location for next date
>leave game on overnight without saving and lose 10 days
>selling Cabbage Cakes
>ship for 6600
>can sell for 10000
Yeah it really lacks, same goes for bachelor and bachelorette dialogue, even at higher flower levels it's the same so far.
Why did they give all the lines to the fucking tv instead of more daily lines?
I'm upset about it, since I have the EU version, but I'm guessing it was because translating it into 5 more languages was too much work, they said fuck it, and just released it earlier without the channel.
>Selling gold juice
>ships for 1.6m
>can be jacked up and sold for 2.3m+
Always sell your expensive items. Although by the time you start cranking out high lv gold juice you probably drowning in money already. I hate being rich, selling things loses all the fun.
There's also buying the overpriced cabin.
Pic related: the interior.
I really would have liked to live in the town itself but hearing that I think I'll stick to the castle.
wow, now I can see why people didn't like Magna.
>No crafting weapons or armors
>shit sponge monsters
>Unbalanced girls atk, boring training
>You can't explore the city
many other shit is happening, I didn't finish yet but I can see why some people were disappointed
Hey guys I got Rune Factory 4 a while back.
I got to some point and everything just stopped...
I was told investigate a weird spot or something but I never find anything.
Why? Is my game defective? I just gave up after a while and haven't played since.
Holy hell my flax dreams have come true! I got 350k from my first cloth batch which is double the value of my shipments thus far. I'm going to turn every single possible field I have into flax fields and become even richer!
Eat shit and die Fritz.
Oh I see. That explains the obsession here. lel
It's been a long time since I played. I remember I dropped the game because I couldn't sell my shit.
Are vendors only around on certain days?
Nooo! What's the point of cheongsams and magical girl costumes if you can't make others wear them!?
Then I guess I'll just become a perverted cross-dressing guy who collects girls' clothes
Read the pastebins. Never played a Rune Factory/Harvest Moon game before.
I'm interested in playing one, but first I kinda want to know.
Which game do I play if I want to romance a qt loli.
whats the weather that makes runies float all around do/for? does it come when a ton of crops are ready for harvesting? or does it cause it? i had almost two fields worth of an assortment of different crops "bloom" that morning.
also. margaret. shes at 7 hearts and hasnt accepted my invitation to go somewhere in at least a couple weeks. and says im joking when I tell her I love her. pls help me woo her back
i don't want to marry tao pi pi but I will if this bitch isnt putting out
Does leveling a dungeon seed increase the levels of the monsters of value of the treasures inside?
I only ask because the boss level hasn't changed.
How can you manage to fuck up getting Meg?
Just get an apple from a fucking monster, bake it, then huck it at her face every morning.
Does she lean easier towards /u/ shenanigans or something?
I don't want to get the events out of the way. I just want them to happen sooner than later.
>date after date no new events from him
>others events go on unfettered
>choices are always either acceptance or violent rejection that will make them hate you
>Kiel has started making passive aggressive comments at the end of former romantic statements
How long did you say it took? 6 years?
So you're looking for the third dungeon?
The first two are in the little plains area below town.
You'll find the the new area by going south of where that little garden full of wood and stone is. On the leftmost side of the screen.
Of course you'll have to loop around through that central spot because of the rock blocking your way. If you hit mushrooms you've gone too far south.
When in doubt go speak to Ventuswill. It might be that Volcanon or someone else needs to clear blockages or build a bridge for you.
Right now I'm alternating dates with going to sleep with him and Dolce in my party because they're my usual party for dungeons. By the time I hit the end of this year or the next I'll probably be impatient enough to start using the trick in it's full form.
Seven is minimum, and just minimum. Eight is when you actually have a decent chance of success. Also, don't confess to them every day, since the more you do your chances go down. I'd say wait four days before trying again. Or, just savescum, since it's RNG anyways, like everything else.
Most characters have their FP growth balanced so that they gain points relatively quickly until they hit ten or so, after which growth drops off severely. For some reason, possibly just developer oversight, Raven and Barrett don't have this cap. They gain FP from points 0 to 99 at the same rate that everybody else gains for just the first 10.
I'm also pretty sure your spouse and child gain FP at the accelerated rate regardless of how many they have, but I could be wrong.
Spouse and kid just get a huge LP/FP boost for being spouse and kid, but I think they grow normally otherwise. So Raven and Barrett can get more FP than your wife and kids with you.
They're garbage as far as I know.
Why are there so many fucking topaz in this river?
I need some iron for the pitchfork but I can only get garbage and Topaz. Occasional bottles and copper.
Isle of Happiness, basically a crop needs a certain amount of sun and a certain amount of water to reach maturity at each stage. Too much water or too much sunlight kills the plant. I actually enjoy the system and they made it happen at least a week in advance so you can't save scum the results you want.
>can't do shit because shit stamina
>can't even harvest hay
>can't upgrade tools because can't get materials
>can't get material because safari is locked
>have hay ready for harvest, can't fucking harvest it without falling asleep
>watering the raditz takes half my stamina
Sunshine is a completely different game set on the same islands with the same characters, not just an update. And it is the best HM in my opinion, far better than Island of Happiness. The "difficulty" makes it one of the more rewarding HM's, though sometimes it goes a bit far like not being able to give gifts to anyone unless you've already been talking to that person for at least 3 days in a row prior.
The shop doesn't do anything other than an avenue for selling stuff in the offchance that a trade country is not available.
It might be a game feature that was added and wasn't expanded maybe due to time constraints. It's still kind of nice though.
Meh. Haven't really done anything except doing her rival events and attending festivals and I still got her to red flower.
>Have R4 card
>Love HM but never tried RF
>Pirate all 3 RF games because I heard its basically RPG+HM lovechild
>Play all 3 and fall in love with the series
>Also pirate Frontier and Tides later on when I got a wii
>Finally get a 3ds years later when they're cheaper
>Find out there's a RF game for it, love it to death even bought a copy
>Look up news to see if a new one has been announced yet
>Find out developers got closed down
I just built the seed maker.
Now, what's better?
High quality crops or high quality seeds?
When shipping them.
Also, does Angela like anything easy to get? I've been giving her turnips because I read she "likes" vegetables.
"Fences help protect your crops during typhoons and helps prevent them from losing star values". Is this shit true? Or more importantly, is it possible to lose star values during typhoons in SoS?
Eventually you can build larger versions of containers, but you'll most certainly need more space before those become available, especially with the fridge.
Craft yourself an extra or two. and plop them down wherever they'll fit. It'll look awkward as fuck, interior design wise, but you'll just have to prioritize function over fashion, until you get the resources to build larger containers and a huge ass house with enough space for four fridges without it looking too weird.
Depends on the animal in question, and their temperament.
Active ones stress out faster if left in the barn, but it's usually remedied by brushing, caressing, or giving them treats. The ones you have to watch out for are different breeds from the regular ones with active temperaments. Doing the above is not enough.
Pottery. Wine. Cooking. Crafting things from the crafting table. Sewing clothing.
Or doing the old-fashioned way: selling crops.
Crops. They actually lose value when you convert them to seeds.
Angela likes tea leaves.
That's the guardrail combo I think. Fifteen(15) of those for the basic combo. You get the blueprint from Ice Country.
Angela is easy to get. Turnips are fine at the beginning, but once you unlock request rewards at the end of spring, save all the milk teas you get from fulfilling those, and give them all to her. I'm at the beginning of winter and she's got the highest love level at a yellow flower. (Now if only I could make up my mind between her and Agate)
Once you get the kitchen, I'd take those turnips and turn them into a turnip salad. The little old lady next door likes those, and you'll want to have her friendship high so that you can see her rival farmer cut scenes. They're pretty plot-important.
Angela is really qt but so Licorice, I haven't seen her yet though.
Also I'm starting to like Emillie a bit. What does she like? I've given her a couple moondrops and she seemed like she liked it.
I'm assuming you mean Elise. At any rate, Elise and Licorice are both wiafus that you can't get as early on as the others. For Elise, you have to see all of her rival farm events before you can begin viewing her heart events. This happens sometime in year 2, which is also the year that Licorice moves in.
Personally, I give Elise bread and pudding. I like to use cooked dishes that I can as request rewards for villager-befriending, if you can't tell. Anyways though, there's much less of a rush to get Elise's LP up, because your relationship with her will move so slowly no matter what. In general just talk to everyday and don't ignore her, and her heart level should do up on it's own.
Elise and Licorice both good wiafus, just keep in mind that you'll have to be patient to get hitched with them.
>"I don't consider a gentleman who values a woman's attention less than a fish's to be a real catch. That relationship didn't last long."
>"to be a real catch"
Cool pun. Iris confirmed as a Redditor!
I have a question about cows and chicken in SoS.
Is there any point in having jersy/zebu cows and silkie/ara chickens other than their produce sells for more? Basically are there any recipes that require their specific milk/egg?
Veronica loves Zebu Cheese+.
If you want to make Cheese and Mayo that sell more, then yeah.
Oh, and if you use milk/egg of different breeds when you cook, it gives more star points on the cooked dish.
Take them to the safari for 100+ hours. Although some people say you need more way more than 100.
I want to try to keep the animals at a minimum, they take too long to take care of.
So in the end, I just only need 1 zebu, 1 araucana, and 2 of each type of goat/rabbit/camel (one for normal and one for +) right?
Because it's a game aimed at younger audiences as well as older ones, and the motion looks fun and lightheaded.
If you need a canonical explanation for it then just say he gets pent up energy and that leads to fidgety ticks. Lots of people do odd stuff like that.
The cheapest/easiest gift to give Lillie is the yellow butterflies.
Talk to Veronica about bringing your animals to the safari. The more time they spend in there, the more likely it is that they will produce plus products. This caps at 100 hours spent in the safari, after which they will ONLY produce + products.
Just beware that that you can cause yourself some trouble if you get all of your livestock to 100+ hours, and lock yourself out of getting the normal version of the product for recipes and requests and such.
You should be able to at least see two of the events, if not all three.
She loves turnip salads and several other simple, one vegetable ingrident dishes(+500FP). If you're concerned about not raising it in time, go through your wardrobe and see if you own any outfits that she makes a comment on. If she comments on your outfit, this will net you an extra 100FP per day.
Use the links here to view what times to enter her house to trigger the events.
» Walk into Eda's house
» 13:00 to 15:00
» Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday
» Sunny weather
That's her first event's requirements
(Oh, and it seems like that event gives 1000FP)
>Year 1 fall 19
>only 2 hearts since rabbits just became available 19 days ago
>enter anyways thinking I'll at least get 3rd
>judge examines fritz's rabbit and makes the scribbles expression
>laugh at fritz for being bad
I get 4th place
Fuuuuuuck! I am so mad.
Anyone know which festival I can enter wines in to have it increase brand? Do I have to enter fruits into the harvest festivals?
Also, does only one type of wine gets boosted or does it affect all wines?
Harvest Festival. Enter a fruit. If it gets a brand, the wine you process it into will get the brand as well.
It only affects one type of wine, though (the fruit with the brand).
It must be the 150 reputation requirement that you're lacking then.
You can earn Reputation by participating in a rivalry field competition (+10), winning a rivalry field competition (+100), losing a competition or negotiation (+60), or by give up a rivalry field when asked to by a rival (+100). You'll earn Reputation with the rivals involved in the field contests.
You can also earn Reputation with all of the rivals by shipping at the trade station once per day (+10), increasing your brand by winning festivals (+10), or unlocking a new vendor at the Trade Depot (+100).
Did you visit her house with her being inside?
>creepy old guy
Do I lose friendship points if I ignore someone for a long period of time in SoS? I remember in some of the older games you had like a 20% chance to lose 100 rep if you didn't talk to people or something.
I cannot stop save scumming and it is killing me with this mine shit.
After we get Monstergirl Factory and free monster MILF dlc.
