What a shitty thread, this is what happens when Chaosfags make threads.
Well lads i just finished SMT1, now to wait another 10 months so i can start playing SMT2.
See you guys in 10 months.
I'm burned out. I finished P2IS and P2EP before playing SMT1, i need to play something different.
The cathedral didn't help
So what do you do with the useless demons in your stock?
I gained new demons in hopes to be able to fuse them into something more useful but it's either that my level is too low for the better ones or the fusion result isn't that great
>If you're from Europe, you should consider suicide.
Shitposter-kun has a sense of humor at least.
>Have at least 4 useless demons since the first playthrough of SMT IV
>the one that I've had the longest is that green pig Chinese thing
>Haven't fuses him ever
>I already have the possible fusions if I use him
>don't want to set it free because I feel like it would be a waste
>don't want to keep it because I know it's a useless shit
What do I do, /smtg/?
Had the same problem with Mothman, that fucker was with me till I beat the entire thing.
Anyway you can check for extra fusions from the compendium, so check that if you haven't already
>If you're from Europe, you should consider suicide.
I haven't noticed that before, kek. Top class bantz m8.
Fuse them, then fuse them again to full up your Compendium.
Ni No Kuni
>tfw fuck ever getting all familiars
>tfw gachapon coin bullshit buttfuckery
I JUST WANT A NEW MONSTER RANCHER 2 OR DEMON RAISING SIM, KANEKO. GET OUT OF THAT DAMN FLOWER FIELD.
Anybody else mostly ignore demons in SMT1/2/IF?
Can anyone confirm me what Hard mode in P1 actually does? Does it only increase enemy's Max HP?
I finished SMT1 yesterday and i can barely name my party, all i know is that i had Cu Culhaim.
Fuck, this place is too comfy.
>Fuck, this place is too comfy.
It is, too bad sometimes some grumpy Amerifat comes here and spergs out that this thread is shitty and whatnot. At least we discuss games, give out tips and advice and shit.
I don't mind, i tend to ignore shitposters. The worst time was when some grammar faggot started correcting people, eventually he stoped since no one really gives a fuck.
I remember that faggot. I wonder if he's still around.
20% is still a considerable increase if you take only bosses's damage into account. Guess I'll buy it tomorrow for the my Vita and try it out.
Apparently there was rampant EU shitposting either just before or after SMTIV came out, which makes me feel bad. This general doesn't deserve it. Plus there's no excuse for bitching about region locked games now, dat 3DS hacking man.
>tfw your N3DS is American, so even the downgrading is easy
It ain't easy bein' yuropeen
actually a britfag, but it's easier to just say European, my grandad is spinning in his grave kekbut it is getting a lot easier if you actually do some fucking research. Must be harder for the ones who don't read/speak English.
You're not him, he would have insulted me.
>Must be harder for the ones who don't read/speak English
They play Mario, Legend of Zelda and Aniimal Crossing though. Any of those games get released everywhere. Those who play niche games and genres, like the SMT or EO games, are the ones that suffer, and most of the time those that play niche games have to know english anyway and sometimes even JP.
I don't know, I'd rather be able to play games in my first language and it's not English, so there was no way I was going to get an American 3DS. What's actually starting to make me upset about it is the whole "no Dai Gyakuten Saiban for the West" bullshit, which isn't related to SMT. I hope we'll get SMT IV Final soon enough, if at all.
>I'd rather be able to play games in my first language and it's not English
I'm the opposite. I refuse to play games in my language or any yuropean language other than english. Heck, I have everything in english: my PC, laptop, Vita, 3DS, PS3, cellphone, etc.
I think I'm too used to playing things in my language, especially because of Pokémon and Ace Attorney, the names are completely different in each language, except for thing like pikachu, pachirisu. I understand English almost as well as my language but I find it less comfy.
Ah, maybe you're that anon I recommended that English site for ordering games?
I'm pretty much forced to play games in english because nothing gets localized in my country except AAA titles, let alone satanic pokemon from Japan.
Being eastern europoor is suffering.
Different strokes for different folks. In a way, I'm both a westaboo
since I'd rather be born in the USA instead of EUR, because of games and their life styleand a weaboo since I really like Japan and all their shit.
Yeah that's right, he didn't answer me so I forgot about him.
If you're talking about that one time when I complained about Raidou 1 being super expensive on amazon then yes.
Hey, I remember talking to you about this a while back, kek. I know it's easy for a britfag to say this, but the releases over here are only going to get more scarce and are only ever gonna be in English (maybe French/Italian). With Nintendo being retarded and censoring for the fucking murricans, it's time to pretend we're back in the PSP days and get back to downgrading/pirating/playing fan translations and all that good shit. I don't really want to pirate SMT because I do want to support a game series I love in my country, but there is no way I'm buying NoA's version of Final. I'm already pretty annoyed with the name of the town in Yokai Watch, the game is very Japanese and it's set in fucking "Springdale" which is way too close to "Lunardale" for my fucking liking.
>when I complained about Raidou 1 being super expensive on amazon then yes.
What? Then I think I talked with a different frech anon. I even talked a bit in french with him.
I asked from where I usually ordered and I said Amazon and this one:
Nope, only English for all the SMT games. I didn't know all that about Yokai Watch, it's not always a bad thing to translate some things to make them more "western" but for a game with "Yokai" right in the title it does seem really strange.
Oh, I don't remember talking in French while talking about how the games are expensive so maybe you're right. Thanks for the link.
>Oh, I don't remember talking in French while talking about how the games are expensive so maybe you're right. Thanks for the link.
Then there really another French anon around. And no problem. That site is pretty reliable by the way. Never had any problems with them.
>LOL my health is 15000
>Oh you didn't know? Too bad sucker
>Thanks for healing me m8
Most of his designs are really good, while others are fucking shit.
The man made Jack Frost, he is beyond reproach
>Plus there's no excuse for bitching about region locked games now, dat 3DS hacking man.
But I don't want to hack my system to be able to play a game. I just want to play the game without waiting years for it.
Tough shit, senpai, because that's the only other alternative. It's terrible, but it's the truth.
>try to find decent SMT 3DS themes
>there are none
Doesn't help that the resolution on this thing is fucking terrible.
I vastly prefer his redone/newer artwork over the older stuff, but it's all good. Lots of penises in the older stuff, he seems to have toned it down slightly later on. I still think some of his best stuff is in Maken.
>tfw beat Satan by spamming my 99 Impel Stones
>You can easily get guns in the Makai world
>It's difficult to get guns in Commie states/Europe
C'MON, IT'S THE YEAR 199X
>"no Dai Gyakuten Saiban for the West" bullshit
This, English isn't my first language either but I don't particularly care what language I play stuff in as long as I understand it. Unfortunately Japanese isn't one of them.
>Spot Steven inside the Virtual Battler
>He is going from right to left
>See Steven crossing from right to left again at next intersection
>Reach intersection, turn right
>Another dead end
>Every virtual battler map you encounter Steven in is the same
>Every single time Steven gets lost, wheels into a dead end and has to turn around at least once if not twice
>You are entrusting your life to this man every time you use the DSP
Just trying to protect you from yourself anon
Gideon Zhi has been tweeting about an imposter (probably malware) SMT if patch.
"But damn, you know? Spoofing a translation for malware distro? That's pretty crazy. I feel like I've crossed some notoriety threshold."
Yeah, notorious for something, alright.
There was that one ass that was crying about P4 Dancing All Night "straying away from the serious tones of Persona" and that "dancing had no place in the franchise".
Basically this and pretending Persona started at just 3.
How much time did he get back in the day to draw those classic designs.
It's quite an achievement; not everyone can come up with 200+ decent demon designs, especially when some of them make sense to based with their original lore.
Please disregard- just because 2-3 of us suffered doesn't mean the rest of you have to.
Whereas there are credentials to be gained in beating (K)MT1-2 and SMT1-2, there is nothing rewarding in slogging through what is essentially the rough draft for Persona 1 scribbled on a used napkin.
Is the encounter rate of DDS supposed to be so painstakingly high? I literally take 3 steps and I get an encounter, and this is leaving me to skip some battles. (I am in
Sera's tower by the way, but I took a long break from the game.
Anyone there has a good strat for DDS2 Satan or the battle is luck based no matter what?
I rolled dices for hours trying to make that 3 Turn Kill strat to work but i don't have the luck from that jap.
I changed some points from that standard "gamefaqs" build and added Repel Death because Satan accepts it and i changed Avoid Ring for Pass Ring so i can Charge 3 times and use a Repel Death on one Turn during the starting and Temptation phase but my problem is that a single Mamudoon wipe my party even with maxed stats.
This fucker is giving more trouble than Hitoshura and any SMT Superboss by far.
this was my first exposure to anything megaten related
Sera tower? That Coordinate dungeon?
And yep some areas from DDS1 have insane encounter rate but at least the dungeons non Karma Temple are short.
Well as you will always be broke for the entire main and post game, be positive and think that the game is saving you from buying riberamas.
I am in the last dungeon, I think, since I've beaten all the factions, and I just reached the 4000th floor of the tower.
I just want to know what's going to happen next in the story. Maybe I will get disappointed, but the late story of DDS1 really managed to intrigue me.
>Can't have hot demon sex for siding with Chiaki
Who is responsible for this shitty """""video game"""""?
You're gonna live in a world of STR, you can have sex with anyone you want.
And it's not like Chiaki is that hot to mourn for her anyway.
My first SMT game was Digital Devil, im at the last part of the game with serph, heat and the blonde chick on level 50, without grinding, but now im getting my ass handed on the mobs and bosses on the tower to nirvana, what the fuck do i do?
I'm guessing to grind and get all mantras?
Are all the games like this? (obligating you to grind)
You should just especialize your characters in certain areas.
DDS is very different to all the other games in its mechanics (like hunting or the mantras).
You could try Nocturne next if you want a similar battle system, but without the hasle of the mantra system. I could also recommend you IV, DeSu and Soul Hackers.
>Strange Journey spin-off/sequel you can date all the demon girls never ever
So still no SMT if? I haven't been here for about a year. I know Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei was 99% done and only had a few lines needed to be added last time I checked.
Also, I remember someone improving SMT2's translation(the same guy that fixed SMT1's translation) but they weren't finished yet. Any news on that?
Kyuuyaku is done, as is Orden's patch for SMT2 (the latter of which is prepatched in the pastebin I think?).
The If... patch is going nowhere, but it's terrible so that's okay. There's a really good translation guide of Gamefaqs by Re-Miel if you must. The areas are so small that you can use the third section "by location" and get translations for the few NPCs without being walked through the game.
It was cancelled due to "too many questions about the translation", and "subs deleted, asshole." Sorry, anon.
Jk. The actual reasoning as to why it's taking so long is a fucking mystery to us.
How? I tried to turn it off through the title screen, but that doesn't do anything. I just got into Paradigm X, and so far it seems like I'm not even able to bring up a Menu for stuff like this.
Orden's SMT1 prepatched link is broken. Also, is there a prepatched version for SMT2? I want to emulate SMT2 on my psp and don't want to go through the trouble of applying via the psp.
Also, what about that team that was inserting the snes translation of SMT1 onto the PS1 version? Any update on that? I remember him being a fag.
I could have sworn there was an untranslated game for this series where you romance demons., but google just gives me Persona.
Did I dream it up?
I had to give up on DeSu. I just don't like the SRPG aspect.
On the brightside I finally picked up a new copy of SMTIV so I can finally finish it. Got plenty of time before Final comes out in English
>Died more times in the first 5 or so hours of SMTIV than the entirety of SJ and Nocturne
You said it'd end after Medusa, but there's not much you can do about a horde ambushing you, smirking, and getting multiple crits wiping you without being able to do shit.
Never give up until you find the True Demon Love?
>tfw got everything set up on my N3DS to downgrade
>tfw too much of a pussy to do it
Guess I'll wait until it's safer, although I do have an old 3DS with a broken R1 button. Fuck it, I'm gonna continue with SMTIV neutral.
I hate being wishy washy for the neutral route, I know that's the best the game can relay a neutral playthrough in gameplay terms, but fuck. I wish there was an option on NG+ or something to ignore all reasons and gods and just blast ahead on your own or something
ALSO THE CAPTCHA WAS FLOWERS, HOLY FUCK
There is the obvious difference of swords doing slash damage while guns do shooting(?) damage.
Also, guns will always have long reach and you can equip different ailment bullets on the fly, even during a battle, you can have different kinds of bullets in your two characters, and of course: you can run out of bullets, so make sure that you always have enough and that you never run out of cash to buy them.
Meanwhile, swords may or may not have long reach, and you will need to go out of your way to have swords that inflict ailments, and still, you can only carry one of those and you need fuse demons in order to keep upgrading it.
Pro tip: guns are good for boss battles and exploiting weaknesses; swords are good for random encounters.
The atmosphere stays pretty consistent in DDS and the OST has been almost unanimously voted as one of the very best in the series
if you like Meguro's cheesy cock-rock.
Definitely suggesting it if you've got any interest in hindu mythology or reincarnation in general, though.
Huh, still my PS2 died a long time ago, I'll consider picking them up new when I buy a new system then. The prices they're going for aren't unreasonable but I'm broke as fuck.
I can not beat this guy. Without spoiling how to beat him is there a way to turn off his healing shit or do I just have to out damage it?
What's this I heard about the general moving to a skype group? What is this cancer? Why are we letting a small minority of vocal faggots do this? Let the circlejerkers leave if they want.
There hasn't been any talk of it since that one time. Just ignore it and people will forget about it.
Turns out I was thinking of Giten Megami Tensei.
>Just ignore it and people will forget about it.
Mate, he's the same shitposter who keeps trying to push the circlejerk and exodus shit by asking about what happened while he was "gone". He's not gonna ignore it because he's desperate to make sure people don't forget about it.
She's going to be voiced by Burch, isn't she?
Wait a second... could it be?
Will you fags shut up about the Skype group already? It's NOT happening, get over it circlejerkers.
>he doesn't know about the skype group
There are 6 males and 3 females
as in actual dicks and vaginas, not what they think they are in their headin there anon. We group video call every week.
Every time i look at the Burch's i see brainwashed people. Fucking disgusting.
Yeah, and it wouldn't be uncalled for a VA to become too popular and leave behind those silly "anime" games that they used to work for.
The only Atlus VA who I can tell for sure that likes what they do, is Yukiko's. To elaborate about that just take a look at her twitter's profile pic.
Any tips for recruiting demons in SMT4? It's my first mainline title where I have to actually recruit demons, only ever played Persona 3, DeSu, and the Raidou games before. I've had Nocturne for awhile but travel so much I've not had time to actually play it.
But yeah, I'm struggling through the start of SMTIV because I keep screwing up recruiting and getting my ass handed to me. Is it just luck for what works or does each demon type have a general personality and specific methods that work?
Are you sure you played Raidou Games?
The most popular (Raidou 2) has negotiations very similar to the other SMTs...
Anyway negotiations on SMTs can only be a problem at the beginning after that you will loot tons of Bead, Chakra drops and Life Stones.
Btw i don't know if it is still possible on SMT4 but on majority of SMTs if you talk with the demon that you have on your party (summoned or not) they will leave immediately and even give you items.
Lol how this saved my ass against Momonofus on Nocturne Hard Mode.
Try to end demon negotiations as soon as possible. If you can, just give up life stones constantly and press end negotiations as soon as it comes up. And yeah, each demon has general personalities that make certain responses more effective than others, but it isn't set in stone
You'll 'get' it soon, the negotiation tactics in IV are much more intuitive and make more sense than in the earlier mainline titles
>I chose ice Nemissa
>shemyaza nulls ice
>can't skip cutscenes
I don't get why Atlus USA feels the need to remove Japanese cultural references, yet feels the need to spice their shit up with crap like honorifics sometimes not even there in Japanese. RB was a ridiculous recent example of this, completely botching certain events and making some shit nonsensical and OOC.
It's mostly identical. There's a new 'Guardian' feature which assigns you a proto-Persona that modifies your stats and teaches magic to your secondary human character like a Magatama. But unlike Magatama, they can lower your stats if you have higher stats than your Guardian and you need to grind for Guardian points so that when you die, yours will get stronger instead of weaker. It's obnoxious and grindy, and like Charon in SMTIV, the threat of failing quickly becomes a stupid waste of time because why not just reset if you die at the wrong time? Poorly thought out overall.
The only other feature is the ability to choose your companion, which will give you 1-2 different dungeons depending on who you choose. You'd think this would create lots of interesting branching storylines with plenty of friend murder but you'd be completely wrong.
>Run into the 2 characters I didn't pick halfway through the game
>"Oh anon, you're here."
>"We're here too, looking after each other."
>"Well bye then."
Never heard from them again.
>tfw whenever I play Overclocked my stupid asian roommate came into my room and began dancing whenever he heard the music that plays when you're looking at events
>this music is always playing
>eventually it starts to get annoying
>just 10 minutes ago he came in, did a kick flip and sent my 3DS flying into a wall
>both it and DeSU are now broken
Fucking cunt. Please post some Jacks.
>SMTIVF will be $50 at launch
>most people will pirate it and will sell like shit
>SMTIVF will be $50 at launch
>You can pirate it
>You'll buy it at launch anyway like a good goy
it's niche, atlus kinda needs the sales to show that this is something they should continue making rather than them deciding to broaden their horizons by casualizing the series
like what Bethesda did to fallout, i mean look at the difference between 1 to 4 from an RPG standpoint, all the mechanics got ripped out to make it easier for people that only own consoles for crap like FIFA and COD
Bethesda just sucks.
New Vegas was a step up from Fallout 3 because Obsidian made it, and then Bethesda decided to just disregard all of the positive changes in NV when they made 4.
Y'know, if Nintendo Europe doesn't announce it shortly after NoA does I'll be tempted to try the region free shit.
You'd encounter nothing but well meaning Law demons for the first 5 hours, the first encounter with Chaos demons would show them to be awful monsters.
The companions would be Michael, Gabriel, Metatron, Mastema, Eric the Power, and a Zombie
There would be ten times as much Law content as Chaos content or Neutral content.
All as it should be
Hello, I am Atlus Man. I have leaks of SHEEN MEGUMI TENSAY. I leak info of SHEEN MEGUMI TENSAY NINE a while ago. Here is leal of SHEEN MEGUMI TENSAY 5IVE (Official tittle)
>you are man
>you go to tokyo (tokyo, japan)
>you are become the demon
>Furin (Flynn in the Scottish localized version) is main enemy
>You are regular tokyo man
>you walk around tokyo
>first demon you get is Pixie
>you get cool tattoos
That is the basiscs of 5IVE. Any questions from fans of SHEEN MEGUMI TENSAY?
You get three tattos that affect your stats in 5IVE
>STR is red tatertots
>MAG is blue
>VIT is green
>does Mara still look like a dick?
We have considered to make Mara look more...approachable for newcomers, so we have desgiend Mara to look more feminine because lots of people liked Persona 4 THE GOLDEN.
>can i kill my friends :DDD
Mochiron. You will (Not) escape your hunger.
>Implying we will get to SMT IX
>implying something (WWIII, ATLUS giving up on mainline, SMT becomes well known and is banned because really religious people, etc) won't happen to stop that
So why did Gideon translate the SNES version, anyway?
>spent way too many hours on first playthrough
>playing like a shit
>just want to knock IV off the backlog already
>Rebirth of the Great Overlord
>mudoon spam like no other
>If I survive that Beelzebub just megidolaon's me into next week
>"lol just go grind for debilitate and salvation"
Woah our resident Hacker is pretty hot don'tcha think?
The Sun is pretty
I'm at least 1/3 through, right? I know I have to face
Bat and Beck, is there anyone else after those two?
Also, I can fight Shiva, Satan, and another extra boss here, right? Where can I find them and any tips, besides null death for Satan?
Did Cozy have any input into the story changes to the Maniax/Chronicle version of Nocturne (or Kaneko for that matter)? I thought Cozy was gone by then. Is the infinite universes thing even in the original version? I feel like most of the Kalpa content tried really hard to link it to the first two games, but I have no clue about the original's intent in regards to continuity.
I'm just curious if that was their original aim or if a bunch of fanfiction was just thrown in there by other devs later on.
Just beat Nocturne, working on Digital Devil Saga now. So far I've really enjoyed them both.
I've been meaning to get into the handheld games, but so far I'm really not enjoying Devil Survivor 2. Are they all so different? Would I enjoy SMT:IV more?
It must be its second form that I'm remembering then, because it had repel against every kind of attack through those nodule things that were floating around. It was a much more interesting fight than the crazy train.
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. You destroy a core with a single target attack, and then you use the corresponding core's element's madyne spell.
For example, destroy the ice core with a physical attack and then use mabufudyne. Every core is now dead, and the boss can only restore one per turn. You win from the first turn even if you need a dozen turns to make it fact.
I suppose if you don't go into the first game's final boss with a multi-target attack (which makes sense, since Lupa is the only one that might require it) it would be challenging.
Most Megaten games have disappointing final bosses though, it's nothing unique to DDS.
I love you too, anon
Meganada on hard mode was a legitimate nightmare of a boss. It's basically Null/Drain Elec or bust during the final phase of the battle.
I wonder if developers deliberately make the final boss easy so you don't get frustrated and it loses the magic, and instead make the penultimate boss the hardest in the game on purpose to still give you that endgame challenge.
I don't think it's a conscious design decision to make the final bosses of SMT games easy, more than a simple by-product of the nature of progression in SMT games. In most SMT games, you reach the finale with a group of super-powerful demons with world-ender spells and skills that can pretty much blitz through anything with little effort.
Out of all of the SMT games I've played, I think Meganada is the only penultimate boss to actually give me issues. Usually it's the final boss or a mid-way boss.
Is Vick the Chaos hero or just a boss in the Law path?
>Did Cozy have any input into the story changes to the Maniax/Chronicle version of Nocturne (or Kaneko for that matter)?
I don't know if they had any off-side input mentioned in interviews and such. But, no, they aren't credited for any of the Maniax extra content.
Does the SMTIV DLC really add to the backstory like I've heard?
Hey, smtg, throw to the airlock these hoi-doi, soejima-smt4tatoononame painters, I brought you best and the most shinmegamitenseish artist in the times when Kaneko is still unavailable - Peter Mohrbacher!
totally not adv
I can tell this is fake. In Japanese you reverse names so it would be (Japan, Tokyo).
Man, I ought to import those PS1 versions of 1, 2, and if. Are those considered the best ones?
I never thought about that. I'll have to pick up that version eventually to see how the story plays out without all the added stuff. After that I'll try to get my hands on the Raidou version to see how he is as a Dante replacement.
I thought Persona 3, Strange Journey, Nocturne, DeSu, and
Dancing All Nighthad pretty good final bosses.
I wish I could remember the final boss of DDS2 better but I completely wrecked it cause I only fought it after beating Satan and grinding every single character to having full Mantra grids.
What would that be? A war against God and Lucifer happening while a bunch of nerds sit in a pitch black room complaining that it's not dark enough?
Doesn't Giten Megami Tensei have some sexual content? Do you get to fuck the demons or is it just demons raping people?
>Doesn't Giten Megami Tensei have some sexual content? Do you get to fuck the demons or is it just demons raping people?
There's a sex scene for both the Chaos and Law Heroines.
Hey, /smtg/. I had a dream last night about SMT IV FINAL
>For whatever reason, I decided to watch Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back in theatres
>The English trailer for IVF comes on
>I'm really hyped to finally see it announced for America
>I see an overhead view of Tokyo, but it looks like blasted Tokyo, barely any buildings in sight
>Suddenly the protagonist has a Madmax styled car that flys throughout Tokyo
>The game looks amazing, like it's in HD
>Think to myself "Did IVF get ported to actual consoles and PC??
>Protagonist is now on foot in a tunnel, and he is shootint robots.
>What the fuck? Where are the demons?
>No demons, just robots
>The game turns into a FPS
>The beautiful visuals turn to 240p when you aim down your sights and shoot
Quality goes back up when you down aim and shoot
I don't know how to feel.
You get to fuck them. You can only pick one though. Since when you pick one you have to kill the other.
The Law heroine is the one that gets maimed by the demons in the beginning
If you want to get TDE you need to do the entire Lavyrinth of Amala, yes.
Also Megaten games don't really have "best" endings. They are all alternate takes on a potential end to the story.
>Also Megaten games don't really have "best" endings. They are all alternate takes on a potential end to the story.
I know, I already finished three. Nocturne will be my fourth. It's the first time I find myself not wanting to side with any of these fucktards. I don't know what happens in TDE, but am assuming they all of fuck off and die, heh.
