>What is BDO?
Black Desert Online is an MMO by Pearl Abyss currently in development on an English language port for western audiences, with additional changes. It is a sandbox MMORPG that features action-oriented combat, open world PVP territory control, trading, player housing, and more.
>What is the difference between the KR/JP builds and the NA/EU builds?
The NA/EU builds are using a new, Buy-to-Play model.
The KR/JP builds of the game are free to play.
The NA/EU builds also do not have the blader/plum/kunoichi/ninja classes.
>What are the details of the NA/EU buy-to-play model?
You pay upfront, 30 dollars (minimum) and there is no subscription fee. There will be a cash shop, which allows you to buy cosmetics, pets, and vouchers for things like skill resets. You also get access to the next (and possibly final) beta test (CBT2) by pre-purchasing.

slowly uploading songs here for anyone who's into the bdo soundtrack
Could you upload some of the battle music such as this?
I think there is a calm and then combat version of this, but I really would like both.
I'll look into it tomorrow.
Same melody as the first two here though (Main Theme and Discovery):
There are no green or blue skin colours, just lots of different tones. The character creator is one of the most robust features senpai so unless you're looking for something out of the ordinary you should be happy with what's there.
b-but muh orkz ;_;
Valk Awakening is spear and shield! http://bbs.black.game.daum.net/gaia/do/black/gm/read?bbsId=BDN003&articleId=96
Too busy playing the game.
Sure can, depending on the town you build them in you get different types, and then you can outfit them with upgraded parts.
All I want to do is play around with the char creator till the EU version is out of beta. Since I've read that you can save the created chars and load them up on different versions.
Is the KR version in moon runes?
can a normal englishman play that game until the NA/EU version comes out without having to transcribe using the anciens dwarven tablets of translation to figure out what the fuck im doing
do guilds get to build fuckhuge castles and furnish them like the player housings? can they be raided, burned the fuck down and taken by other guilds?
sounds like good people just make sure you never owe him any favors
I don't see Portugal on this map.
region locking is all about rights, basically they want to sell the rights to the game to those places in the future or never
theres no reason to lock anything on the internet in 2016
I dont want to have to deal with a bunch of br's shitting up the chat like archeage man
Well, cash shop is supposed to be cosmetic and mild convenience items so it shouldn't be p2w like KR to begin with. Will most likely go p2w later, but I won't be too bothered as long as it doesn't get as bad as KR server. No other MMO I want to play since The Repopulation suspended development.
dont be jelly of my framerate
Major disappointment that the valk's AW is a lance I was hoping she would get a great sword like the warrior or some kind of 2h eg. halberd.
Now I have to rethink what class I want for west launch.
I hate you nignogs for not loving the fencing and buckler swashbuckling aspect of the Valkyrie.
>not liking the skinny swords and shields
If you have ever been in a /tg/ wizards guild thread that is what I had in mind.
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/35249277/ for your reference.
I hope y'all make the perfect wizarding icon that both brings an aura of magical power to the game and can fit into a 60x60 pixel frame that's also downscaled considerably in-game (picture for reference).
does this map look off to anyone else? south america looks too far east
I can't say what that guy's after.
But as for keybind mashing gameplay typical to these games, I'll let you in on a little secret: all MMOs are terrible games with terrible gameplay. The 'questing' is repetitive and boring and grindy, raids are buggy and poorly tuned and completely boring on the 20th run, your character story isn't as good as a solo RPG or RTS where you are actually playing the main hero, the rich and deep lore is written by Q-grade writers and is all Mary-Sue characters and retcons, PVP is unbalanced and zergy and a complete joke compared to a dedicated PvP game. You don't play a MMO for its amazing gameplay or 'content', those are just the means not the ends. You play it for the meta-content and the meta-context. The pixel dragon is 'epic' when you are doing it with 30 other comrades, you grind the ten rats because it matters in the context of the world/progression, you shoot the tower at 4AM unopposed because it has impact in a persistent world, and you hate the guy who owns it and want to ruin his internet pixels. That's why people do it, plus basic human nature: groupish thinking, us vs them, being in an e-war since IRL war sucks, and any other subconscious instinctual schemes. Of course you don't understand human nature, and you are trying to discover it by doing equations and reinvent the wheel in your basement, when you could just read "The Righteous Mind" by J. Haidt like I told you... It'll release you from your eternal torment of trying to decode "fun" and "why they do/don't do that".

1.when is cbt 2 happening?
2.will they give out tons of keys since it will be the last? maybe to stress test (haven't been able to play)
3.the game has an amazing character creator yet almost all the characters end up looking the same why is that? also are the tits/ass slider really restricted? characters look pg-13 AF
4.is it pvp endgame only? just recently spent 30$ on albion online and its now dead and it kinda reminding me of this desu.
5.can a r9 380x with a i5 4690 run this game at ultra with playable fps?
2. who knows, shekel up for korea
3. it's an annoying customizer to use; most grow frustrated before they manage to turn people into totally unique characters... find some interesting shit here: vk com/presetbd
4. endgame is what you want to be your endgame--the game revolves around money and pvp however, but plenty of lads focus on playing with their cute maids in their player homes
5. easily, just never click the "high end mode" that destroys every PC button
I really wish I knew. Going through nodes that aren't occupied by another guild have lately been giving me a prompt to build a conquest tent so that's probably the first step.
Fuck your rules, anon. I'm gonna sail as much as I want and starve out in the open ocean if I want. And the police can enter you house if they want, too. Ever heard of no-knock raids?
Serious question here - what is up with the draw distance/Pop-in?
This is some seriously broken shit going on. I decided to look into the game since it's getting closer to release and how the fuck am I suppose to enjoy playing a game where players magically appear in-front of me 20 feet away..
It's very comfy and suitable for your waifu needs, you filthy degenerate.
The character creation in BDO is kinda underwhelming.
You can't make a female with small tits, you can't get super thin arms or legs, you can't change the age like making tamer looking older or wiz looking young.
And the hairstyles are boring and generic and while I like that I can actually change the length and shit, it's still to simple to make up for the rather small selection.
Yeah, I'm referring to changes after Korean cbt. Western release might allow for more pvp and other changes, but if the forum opinions are actually influencing their direction we are going to get the same casualized version other regions got or worse.
I'm banking on forum casuals being a vocal minority and everyone actually filling the survey after cbt1. but I guess we'll see when cbt2 rolls out.
But if you're actually worried why not go on official forums and be vocal about the things you want? Isn't it more effective than posting on an anonymous malaysian pottery forum?
Guild leader here.
First you buy a conquest tent from the guild vendor and place it at a certain node, then I believe you have to get your workers and maybe other guild members workers to build it up. After that you can use one of the menus that pops up when you hit ESC to see what other guilds are setting up to contest the node and what time the battle is going to take place. Once that time comes, it's a simple attack and defend teamfight where you have to destroy your enemy's command post with normal attacks and with siege, while preventing them from doing the same to you. Last command post standing at the end of the fight wins. I'm not 100% sure whether the fight ends when there is only one command post left or if the potential victors have to go all-out defense to prevent the fight being called a draw. You can purchase or craft items to help with this like cannons and elephant mounts.
The plan for CBT2 is to have a lot of people powerlevel and focus on testing out these mechanics, as long as sieges are actually enabled. Should be a good time.
How do I git gud at berserker? I want to like it but I kept getting killed by titled bear
You were still in the tutorial, it usually takes till around 20+ to get good skills, plus some skills suck fucking dick on low lvl.
I don't know too much about giant, but just go through your skills and check out what helps you to survive and do aoe dmg and you should be fine when it comes to pve.

fucking a man! there's literally no way to try this game out to see if I'll like it? no trial? maybe CBT2 will accept everyone who applied for CBT so we can try it?
>defeats the purpose of trying the game before spending money
where's the RU guide? or are there just as many stupid hoops to jump through as the last two which is why I posted in the first place?
Just play return of reckoning instead of this trash.
>implying spending $5 is too much
I don't throw away money just because I have it and can throw it away. don't be a hipster anon who buys macbooks just because he can afford them.

I asked for alternatives that don't involve jumping hoops or spending money and you idiots decided to ignore those requests. it's your own fault you're getting literal rectal trauma over this conversation anon.
talking to anons with sticks up their asses because they felt the need to say the same thing and start bleeding out of their assholes when I basically say "that's not what I asked for".

The only thing in conq that is in any way exclusive is the white knight costume and weapon, as well as the 4 day headstart.
You can get a better horse through gameplay. You can get a whistle and pets from the cash shop for much cheaper. Beyond that, you need to get like 3 pets if you really want autoloot running full speed and that package only gets you one.
Animal friends that follow you around, autoloot a corpse once every 10 seconds which is why you need 3 to have any impact on the number of bodies you drop while farming, and they also have a unique thing like the dog will bark if a pvp flagged player is close, the cat detects harvestable resources somehow, and the bird one locates "elite mobs"
Dog one could be pretty bullshit depending on the range on it, but seems like you could play around it by being in stealth and not flagging until right before you attack.
You fucking idiot, germany is full of turks, thats the joke.
Arians really are a subhuman race desu
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WHAT FUCKING SKILLS SHOULD I USE FOR PVE AS SORC
SORC SUCKS SO MUCH AT LVLING HOLY SHIT
No really, what's wrong?
No mana and no fucking dmg, not to mention the lack of a heal.
S + LMB I think is your main damage dealing skill, that and the rage burst aoe. I was out damaging most of the other classes my level in CBT1 so I'm not sure where you've specced poorly.
Ehh, it was decent, servers are West Coast which gives good ping for me on the East Coast. PvP was pretty laggy and spammy, but it was also low level shit and will hopefully be ironed out by release.
That sounds pretty cool. I just thought they were vanity, but they turned out to be useful. Liking the game more I hear about it. How jewness is the cash shop for me to have to fork over these pets?
hair cust is pretty cool, if a bit clunky
you can do some crazy shit
How long will you spend making your perfect waifu or husbando /vg/?
I'll probably spend some time learning what does what but actually creating won't take long cause I'm not a waifufag

ok what in the flying fuck does this say
i cant get a new character into game
How is this MMO compared to every other MMO?
As in: why would I play this over say WoW, FF or arche age and so on?
Not intending for this to be complaining about the game I literally know nothing about this game other than that the character creator is great.
It isn't a WoW style quest grind. It has action combat unlike all of those titles. It has better graphics. It has some unique systems that I've never seen in an MMO. Its endgame is entirely focused around PvP, though they seem to be trying to add more PvE content.
its pretty much the exact same as every other korean "its got a couple action elements so well call it an action mmo" waifu grinder. Honestly most people are hyped about it because they still think its a sandbox game like UO or Mortal.
How responsive is the combat? I mean wow has a lot of faults but whenver you hit a button something happens. Movement is smooth (sometimes causing some thigns to look weird but gameplay > visuals IMO) which was an issue in some other MMO:s I played.
thats wrong though. Thats not even money entering the economy, thats money being transferred between people, its a good start to stop inflation but it does nothing to stop money from flooding in from multiple different sources.
thats not money ENTERING the economy, thats simply a transfer of funds between people.
Money entering the economy would be things like guild missions, selling stuff to npcs, completing quests, trade goods. Money entering the economy is money that appears out of thin air.
Maybe because the amount of money a player has directly influences what they are able to buy? And a locked pricing on the AH means that no prices will effectively scale with the amount of money currently available to players.
Shut up I probably will do that too I don't want to know.
That's the entire point of a dynamically adjusting fixed point system. Low-end items remain acquirable while high-end items scale up appropriately (albeit the 500 hour items are insane, but that has no bearing when it would be the same in any market based on these acquirement probabilities).
Well, ok, not the entire point. The entire point is to eradicate real money trading and spam, but creating a highly varying list of items that see use in every trade and craft across all levels and is acquirable by all is the secondary benefit.
What's bad is the gameplay it removes. No market manipulation. But I suppose this topic is about the supposed "inflation" rather than "why are Koreans so anal about RMT and why are they keen on removing muh freedom?"
The point is that you can't just raise prices. It's capped on your end, but it does very slowly adjust based on demand.
Which is why you see green axes going higher than blue axes here. If it were a 'free market' the green axes (worse and available to low skilled gatherers, whereas blue requires a higher skill) would probably be selling for a lot more, based on the supply you see in purple.
The price difference does seem pretty considerable already when factoring in the demand.
Can these tools not be bought at a vendor or made yourself?
whats the point of going to the Auction house for them at that price?
They can only be crafted yourself or awarded from random quests that generally aren't repeatable.
You skip the process of gathering the materials, processing the materials, setting up workers in that specific town, and buying out the buildings required to send your workers by going to the AH, like any other specialty you don't do.
but the items hardly scale at all, and the even when they do it doesnt change anything since everyones fucking rich. Its just a race of who can click the button the fastest to get their items.
I don't understand. There are several high-end items available now (200mil to 2bil).
There are few rich players. Having hundreds of millions is not rich. It only means you grinded for a few days and can now purchase an minimum-wage equivalent of cash shop goods or whatever else.
I wouldn't really say that. It's up to how you're using your contribution points (building and node management) and what you need for what you do... which may not be very much at all.
There's no experience gains involved in that sort of crafting, either, so it's not like you're progressing your character by making those tools (aside from the slight worker levels)
that's processing and is just converting raw shit into unraw shit
I need some bread in my mouth pronto.
>captcha is tick the boxes with bread
What market manipulation? This is simple basic shit about being able to set your own prices relative to the market's pricing at the moment, instead I somehow am forced to undercut by 25% even though there's only ONE on the market
late this year evidently, but i suspect delays like in every bullshit kickstarted project
they did a bunch of shit for their engine that supports thousands of players in a single area with VERY FAR VIEW DISTANCE so now they should be rocketing forth gameplay systems to fit whatever new animations they have in store
I don't see why anyone is hyped for this game. I've been playing for 2 weeks on KR now and the game already feels like a boring grind shitfest with nothing to do. Literally just a pointless gear upgrade fest.
Granted, I haven't engaged in PvP yet, nor has the guild. So maybe there's something to do there eventually.
Sure it has some comfy features, like houses and massive enemy genocide combat, but it feels like if you're not 55-60 with endgame gear nothing you do really matters. As soon as you hit 50 you get hit with these ridiculous quests that require you to kill 200 to 500 mobs and all form of progression is kind of lost on you.
Trading, fishing, gathering and processing are gimmicks that are fun for a bit but then all interest is basically lost since it's pointless and there's no profit to be made until you're endgame with that too and the money you make is literally peanuts compared to what you could be making.
Because I can't wait to do fuck tons of trading, horse breeding/racing, gathering/cratfting. to create my perfect waifu, to enjoy the grindfest combat & to have fun making new friends or shilling to my current ones.
>enjoy the grindfest combat & to have fun making new friends or shilling to my current ones.
Whole lots of buzzwording there. Doing what? Killing 5000 mobs? Is that really something you enjoy?
>fuck tons of trading
Granted, in the NA/EU the economy will be fresh and we wont have 50+ content yet so it's still salvageable and could be enjoyable, but trading is literally
>AFK for 5 minutes to the next stop, sell items, buy items, go to next stop
You clearly haven't done either or you would know it's pointless bullshit, especially with the NA/EU requiring energy for them you won't be doing it much.
>he isn't excited for a thousand folds of steel
>Doing what? Killing 5000 mobs? Is that really something you enjoy?
Not him, but I like grindy games. I also like camping bosses and trying to get rare gear/item drops. Don't know if it has that, but I'm a fan. I think too much time playing Endless Online as a kid melted my brain.
>I also like camping bosses and trying to get rare gear/item drops.
None of that in KR at least, all bosses are a summon instanced-but-everyone-can-see-them-fight-you and a joke, I literally haven't died to a single one yet.
Housing is entirely instanced and very strict, a shitton of things locked behind premium in KR, cash shop shit will probably be different in NA/EU so that probably wont apply.
Trading is a huge timesink, both that and horse races are really just gimmick minigames, housing really isn't what you think it is, they're functional crafting spaces at best and glorified automated crafting tables at worst. Sure you can play dress-up with your house and maybe do something slightly entertaining but you could do this in literally a bunch of other games, better.
>None of that in KR at least, all bosses are a summon instanced-but-everyone-can-see-them-fight-you and a joke, I literally haven't died to a single one yet.
Well, I heard they were going to start adding open world bosses so I hope we actually get those eventually. It's fun camping a boss spawn with a dozen other people hoping I'm the one to get the rare gear drop this time.
Yeah I think you might actually have slush for a brain. Maybe I'm just growing old or jaded. I just want something slightly meaningful, but black deserts gameplay doesn't require any thought any basically just requires you to waste your free time to get something.
Like I said though, maybe PvP will change that, throw out some meaningful goals.
If not for PvP, what is the point of having that rare gear drop
I want something different too. I may enjoy this kind of gameplay, but what I really want are open world sandboxes more in the vein of SWG and Ultima. If I'm gonna play a grindy themepark I prefer stuff like this over WoW style quest/gear grind. PvP is, of course, the main draw for me. I'm just discussing a few of the PvE aspects I like.
>oh no I have no arguments other than I think it is fun and was told it is not fun so now I'm going to call him out because I'm still in denial that this game is not what I hyped it up to be
Better at what exactly? Camping a spot for longer than them? Getting lucky with the drops?
You could do this in literally millions of other games so what makes this one special?
>>oh no I have no arguments other than I think it is fun and was told it is not fun so now I'm going to call him out because I'm still in denial that this game is not what I hyped it up to be, and now I'm going to repeat myself with shitposts until the other guy gives up giving me the same hollow "joy" I would get grinding in MMOs
I didn't pvp but the game functions well enough. Movement feels just a little bit laggy, jumping is delayed by like 1/4th of a second but you can still do things like maximum distance platforming if you time it well enough. The actual combat is fine, hit detection seems to be serverside as far as using i-frame dodges through an NPC attack.
There's actually kind of little margin for skill in pvp in BDO, any fight is going to come down to how good your gear is and/or how many friends you or your enemy has. GvG is going to be a chaotic clusterfuck at any latency.
I've heard people say that it improves the ping to the server from 250 down to about 200 but if there were internet cables between australia and america that were somehow better and provided lower latency, wouldn't they be the ones we're already using? How would some tiny ass VPN company have private internet cables spanning the planet? Why would they not go into business as an ISP themselves? That seems ridiculous.
