This is a problem I have also

I like playing Heavy but everything he does is so slow, from moving to shooting. If his gun spun up faster I can see the class having more survivability and I think thats why Heavy was originally given a shotgun. Shotgun for quick one on ones and Minigun for when you need to hunker down and kill a group or lead a push.

However, since nearly everyone would rather have a full, recharging health pack than a shotgun, theres not much a Heavy can do to defend himself outside of commiting to going even slower. This leads to him being headshot and backstabbed a lot easier than every other class. Even spinning around and catching a spy or spotting a sniper doesnt help when you cant shoot at them.

How do you survive as heavy?

Valve said November and the stream this month showed it didn't even work at a basic level (they had to add 4v4 because they couldn't get 6v6 running).

It's not going to fix anything, and in fact might make it worse, because what we saw was a system where you didn't queue by class, but rather it dumped you in a lobby and expected to fight over who has to play Medic.

you can get at least 3 free ones per class by reaching achievement milestones. and you can swap ones from the weekly drops for weapons that you want at scrap.tf

cosmetics are a bit harder to get, but just play a couple of weeks and you should have enough weapons to craft into enough metal to trade for a hat

id recommend just dropping 2.49 on a key, and sell that key for metal, and youll have enough to get some hats if you want

but overall, just read the wiki to learn what guns do, and dont buy hats/taunts/guns from the in game store
