There's only one choice. Josie here I come again.
Was this fair? Why not let people who refuse to take the test fight elsewhere and remain useful to the overall cause? It's a pointless test to force on someone and especially to kill them when they refuse
>solas is surprisingly good at flirting too
So that they don't reveal the secrets of the Grey Wardens I guess? Or so that people won't just turn back at the last second, which I'm sure many would do when they see someone dying.
I think there was some reason, but I can't remember.
my goal in dragon age is to found a school for all mages
You can't play pro-qunari, the option literally does not exist. You may as well pretend your Inquisitor is a transethnically Tevinter high functioning autistic alcoholic with one leg.
Not him, but that is something that bothers me with the game.
No matter which race you pick, your story won't differ in any way, the only thing you will see is that people might sometimes react to you slightly differently, and you might have a few dialogue choices that you can use.
But other than that, it makes no difference at all. I wish you could have more interaction with your race.
> People I dont like aren't allowed here!!
It's so they can't tell anyone about the ritual, there are people who know the secret to the joining who aren't grey wardens, but I imagine they were told by necessity and were never actually grey warden candidates.
Someone who backs out at the last second because "holy shit this ritual can kill people!!" likely have a high probability of telling someone else, even if its just loved ones, they really just can't take the risk.
> only contribute to this general negatively
Any contribution to this dying general is better than it just sitting dead in the water, even if it's by the horrible people who romance a character you don't like.
Hey /bwg/, do you have any KOTOR tips? I'm thinking about playing it. Stuff like good builds, best/most useful companions, benefits of light vs dark, and general tips. Whatever you've got.
If you want to play light side - go with soldier/guardian, two weapons/flurry build and focus on your str points and lightsaber feats. A major drawback is not having persuade as your class skill until you leave the prologue area (which means it takes 2 points to increase a skill), but you can withhold leveling your skills until Dantooine.
If you want to play dark side - play a scoundrel/consular and use your force powers. Gets very OP in late game. I wouldn't recommend picking a female in that case because dark side female ending is missing, but it is restored by http://www.nexusmods.com/kotor/mods/54. You can kill Carth if you're a dark side female, which is a huge plus best appreciated if you play light side first.
Just google guides for leveling both of these, there are a lot of them on the internet. Scout and Sentinel are considered to be pretty shit in 1, but they get better in 2
Ranged weapons generally suck unless you use stealth, but using it can get pretty tedious. Mission is optimal for that.
Generally, Kotor doesn't have that many skill checks compared to Kotor 2 - persuade is obviously the most important skill, but repair has some checks as well so it's worth putting points in if it's your class skill.
As for companions, Jolee is probably the best caster in the game and also a pretty good character. He's found in Kashyyyk. Tatooine has HK if you decide to go dark side. He's pretty hilarious but needs to be repaired to be useful. The rest just depends on your preferences, I like using Canderous and HK on my dark side runs and Bastila/Mission and Jolee or Juhani on light side.
Optimal planet order is Tattooine or Kashyyk - Manaan - Korriban.
Make sure you speak with everyone in between planets and exhaust every dialog option
There's also a save game editor if you absolutely get stuck on some skill check or just feel like cheating: http://www.nexusmods.com/kotor/mods/57/?
I remember almost nothing about the mechanics but Bastila, Canderous, Jolee, Mission, and Gaider's self-insert are the best companions. And things get really dark if you go dark side.
I bought Inquisition but have a pirated copy of another EA game that requires origin.
I've never used Origin before and ideally I just want Origin to not do anything about what I may or may not have on my computer. Anyone else been in a similar situation?
No problem, I guess kotor can take a while to get into but I think it's still worth playing because the story and characters still hold up compared to bioware's recent games and the twist is pretty well done
I wish Bioware would focus more on supporting their released games. I just cant imagine that it would cost them much compared to their earnings if their just put a few programmers or heck a few interns to fix those bugs.
During my fight against the Frostback my party members kept freezing up all the time and I needed to press jump so they could move. The fight was fucking terryfying.
Also Im still getting T-poses during jugdements.
Is it really that hart to just work down your fucking bugtracker (assuming they have one).
anders - isis/twilight combo
cullen - monetized fap material
alistair - mary sue writers pet
tallis - tallis
sera - obnoxious gollum
krem - muh forced diversity
iron bull - man tits and the worst voice actor
I've got trials turned on but never get any shipments.
I'm in skyhold and its been over a dozen hours as I am doing one final completion run, but no shipments.
Is this a bug or something?
>Vivi is ridiculously black, especially for muh grounded fantasy not-mmorpg
>she's actually a really entertaining character, if you're into politics
>Sera is a literal goblin that talks gibberish most of the time
>still makes a surprising amount of sense and has top-tier banter, also fun to have around
It just keeps happening.
Sera is the only one I'd disagree with. She's not completely terrible.
>cullen - monetized fap material
This is on point desu. I like Cullen in DAI, but he literally still exists just because of the raging fangirls.
>krem - muh forced diversity
That too, it's so obvious it's not even funny. At least the rest of the diversity squad is kind of charming.
are you some butthurt andersfag or what
I don't like solas but his lines and delivery aren't remotely as twilight-esque as they are with anders. "EVERY NIGHT I LIE AWAKE ACHING FOR YOU", "I love you but we can't be together but I love you but you must stay away" blah blah. it's quite obvious hepler was inspired by twilight as it was popular at the time.
Solas is not twilight at all. He actually has a goal and he just said he was sleeping for centuries. Nothing actually states he's immortal. How can he be immortal when he already made it impossible to be immortal for elves
We fluctuate a lot anyway, but it has been pretty dead. Everyone is probably playing new games or forgetting this place exists.
I still don't know how anyone would feel inspired by characters from that shitshow. That's like basing your entire theory of magic in a high fantasy setting off of Harry Potter.
I have friends that still play, but mother of god. Sometimes you have to kill a thing off for its own good.
And I'm so tired of seeing Star Wars shit everywhere.
But they already did.
>Just starting to get in to the game again, about to arrive at Skyhold
>Game freezes after the cringy song segment
>Have to disable mods and go through it all again

I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE GODDAMN GAME. FUCK YOU.
Watch the original trilogy again and then watch the prequels that lead to the original trilogy happening so watch them afterwards and then watch the prequels because they explain things and lead to the original trilogy so watch them again afterwards and then to get some things explained watch the prequels and then follow up with the original trilogy after which you watch the prequels because they expand Vader's backstory and then watch the original trilogy where Vader is now the main character given what information the prequels give and then watch the prequels since they lead up to the original trilogy and then since the prequels were made after the original trilogy and you want to watch all the movies in release order you watch the prequels that lead up to the events of the original trilogy so watch that again.
I tried to play it, but gave up because mmo, but I loved how they are profit now and virgins still scream tortanic as if it is relevant anymore. It just amuses me, their lack of understanding.
Character song. The lyrics make it pretty obvious as well
Somewhat on topic?
Playing through KOTOR 2 trying to mod it, I installed this High Level Force Powers mod and everything seems to have installed correctly but none of the force powers are showing up in the menu. I know it's a long shot but is anyone here familiar with this?
Why are all of the same people involved in the same fandoms? You can expect someone that plays FO4 to be really interested in all the new Star Wars, all those same people will be obsessed with Andromeda once it releases.
Because FO4 used BW as inspo, and BW creates simple themes for their games, with party adventure being a central part of all of them, which is the same with SW; a simple space opera.
It's fucking star wars you autist. Everyone has at least a slight interest in it since it's so popular that you'd be alienated by any normal people for knowing nothing about it. Also:
>Fans that like one sci-fi rpg also like another sci-fi rpg
It's not rocket surgery
I thought we were talking about Solas, not Morrigan
He is though. Dude is smooth and assertive.
You tell him he's flattering you, he responds that he's just telling the truth without missing a beat. He's got the PUA game down pat.
I just want to thank the person who said they hope my package gets lost because it did. Fuck you man.
You can't deny that he's a good talker. He lashes out then turns and says something unexpected. Morrigan was pretty popular for the same reason.
That's usually a common quality with people that are good at picking people up.
that's my point dingus
I should also mention that since Solas is a fucking loser he probably believes the whole "you are a unique and special snowflake" thing since nobody else gave him the time of day since he'd awoken
>Solas is a fucking loser he probably believes the whole "you are a unique and special snowflake" thing since nobody else gave him the time of day since he'd awoken
So you think your inquisitor is a retard like everyone else? NICE.
>so you think your inquisitor is a retard like everyone else?
given that you can call him out on it at every stage of the romance, it's beyond my call to say why you're rustled
I don't like Alistair as a character but I like his romance
Would you rather be raped by the giant wolf or the giant spider, /dag/?
I personally would prefer High Dragon, too bad they're girls.
Thank you dump anon. Are there any concept sketches of the PCs?
There's only this one, the rest are renders. They didn't even include that protagonist with the miniskirt in the artbook, geez...
>tfw I always played Radiant Jen Zi
she and ming were the qtest
her colors also looked best with Princess Sun Li and Sky
>Radiant Jen's legs
>Wu's fit belly and slutty boots
Jade Empire was so lewd...
It was made before the dark femnazgûl ages, back when waifus still were made to appeal to men. Back before to cultural war, such a game would never have been able to get made today.
>kotor 1 had an okay villan
>kotor 2 had great bad guys that were original, interesting and intimidating
>the farce awakens had Snoke the terrible emperor ripoff and a Vader fanboy dweeb that was never really a threat to anyone
How did this happen? Kotor 2 was written by a guy that dislike Star Wars yet it has the best written characters and story of anything SW. A guy that can extinguish all life on a planet by eating all life on it with the force alone? He's not even a man anymore but a lingering hunger, that's a good antagonist.
I also didn't like how much the dork side dweeb looked like Revan. Revan was way more interesting than that guy.
I just wish there were cuter male NPCs. At least Cyberpunk is within our lifetime.
also at least several of the major male NPCs in Witcher are fucking gorgeous god damn
Doesn't TORtanic have a bad guy who eats entire planets like Nihilus without the drawbacks?
>He's not even a man anymore but a lingering hunger, that's a good antagonist.
Avellone must really like this premise considering that's the plot of MotB
>Doesn't TORtanic have a bad guy who eats entire planets like Nihilus without the drawbacks?
I have no idea, never played it. I heard that Drew Krapshyn made an ebil Mary Sue in his book, is that the guy you're talking about? Also heard that Drew really hated kotor 2 and spent the entire book sitting on it in a very butthurt manner.
That was George Ziets' brainchild, I also think it's sort of different.
>kotor 3 will never get made
>Exile canonically dies like a bitch instead of tracing Revan's steps and saving the galaxy from a yet unknown threat
Thanks for reminding me....
I wish I knew how to make elf ears on non aliens. TS4 has such flop cas decisions
>being that desperate
Star Wars is a simplistic story for children and teens, with sufficient writing for what it was. Only the prequels try to elevate it to something above its standing, them and K2. Both superfluous, completely shallow messes, with the difference that video game nerds think their vidyia is actually something good. Laughable.
Do you have ants' eyes or something? Go get your eyes checked.
>Star Wars is a simplistic story for children and teens, with sufficient writing for what it was.
>Only the prequels try to elevate it to something above its standing
>Both superfluous, completely shallow messes
You don't even know what you're saying, do you? Try to obfuscate how little you know about the subject you're talking about better next time and you might ruse someone.
Hey /dag/ + /bwg/, looking for input from longtime fans.
tl;dr KOTOR, ME2, or DA:I?
I've been a Bioware fan for a while, and I've played many of their games, but for various reasons I've stopped halfway through some of the series. I got about halfway through KOTOR, partially into ME2, and only into the very beginning of DA:I.
Dragon Age: Origins is my favorite Bioware game, but I feel like the later games don't capture the same magic; I barely beat DA2. KOTOR seems a little dated to get into, and ME2 I know is supposed to be good, but of all the series it's probably my least favorite.
I guess my question is, which of these games do you think is most worth "getting into?"
DA literally has nothing left going for it, how do you rape your own franchise so hard?
ME2 is great all around.
DAI is a bit mixed. I like the main quests and companions, but that's about it. Exploration is mostly fucked, 90% of sidequests are fetch nonsense, combat swings wildly between terrible and alright, and Inquisitor's VAs are crappy compared to
based Jo Wyatt.
KOTOR is unremarkable in every way.
I'd say ME2 desu.
Kotor is probably the shortest of those and also the most plot dense, it wraps up everything in one game and has fun sidequests. There's a sequel too if you get hooked on it but it's quite unfinished and leads nowhere thanks to TOR. As for being dated, I only played it for the first time last year and the gameplay and graphics were a bit jarring at first but you get used to it.
ME2 is quite different from ME1 in that it puts a lot more focus on the whole waifu simulator aspect. Depends on what you liked and disliked about the first game I guess. The characters are pretty good in general
DAI is the worst of those in my opinion, it looks like a well made game on the surface but it's actually some sort of unholy mix of boring, casualized MMO gameplay and mind numblingly bad "cinematic experience".
Thanks for responses, definitely either ME2 or KOTOR. Will have to think on it.
We are on a new year and people are already aggressive for no good reason.
You need to chill, dag.
No idea who you're talking about, anon. Played KOTOR 3 years ago and yeah, it wasn't anything fantastic.
When did Josephineposting start triggering /dag/?
But she's not even a companion desu.
>she's not even a companion to be honest
>plot carried by forced melodrama that doesn't work if you aren't crazy about Garrus, Wrex, Mordin, Tali, the Virmire survivor and Liara
>somehow looks worse than 2
>already full of fetch quests that plague DAI
It just feels like a huge waste of time if you're not one of those super obsessed fans like Garrus hambeasts, Tali sweat guys, or /meg/
You can say that about pretty much every character ever. But yeah, you're not wrong.
I just mean that the other characters look gorgeous even in screenshots. But I thought Keira was much older than she was from the screenshots alone, like (in appearance) in her 40s. Definitely not the case when you see her in game
Hopefully, not Dorian now that Gaider is gone. Maybe nobody will return this time.
>using Deathblow in a crowd of deepstalkers over and over again
How do I get Coles approval up. The faggot gets mad everytime I dont want to kill everybody who he considers evil. I just got a great disapproval only from him for Halamshiral despite everybody being alive. Also if Gaspard and/or Briala get executed he still gets mad.
What the fuck.
>generic blonde white pretty boy has zero votes
If only KOTOR had a character as good as Solas.
Did everyone else know about this already? This revelation has severely dampened my mood.
What is better for Solas?
Bloodwake or Fade-Knocker? I have to choose between these two staffs.
There's no problem about how am I built, I have both fire and electricity spells.
Give him whatever matches his main damaging ability and rings
It fits her character I guess, I think it's nice how they started hiring non-VA's that fit their characters instead of reusing the same voices over and over again (Hale, Ellis, female inquisitor VA's, etc) or hiring their friends (Josephine's VA, Freddie Jr). Same with Dorian really
Yeah, I agree. Dorian and Sera kind of stand out, but in a good way - they wouldn't be the same without their current voices. Still, nothing will stop Bioware from reusing Hale, Meer, both Hawkes, Zevran and all the others. Not that it really matters, as long as they stick to minor characters (Meer voicing that one elf slut comes to mind).
And I thought Josephine's VA did a fine job desu.
No terrorists pls
>But what is the point of it if /meg/ still exists?
Dragon Age has been over for almost half a year now and some faggots used to start going "ummm it's not DA... you better leave...." whenever someone posted something off-topic, Bioware general better reflects this general's purpose of being an assortment of random shit I guess
Back from the dead again. After roughly half a year I have finally bought all DLC's and am ready for one ultimate playthrough.
Who has some neat ideas what to play, who to romance and what build to try.
Play female mage elf and romance Solas, I feel as though that's who you're supposed to romance in Inquisition. It seems like every other companion can give or take romancing the Inquisitor. They don't need you in that way. It wasn't like in Origins or DA2 where I felt like most of them wanted or desired your character. I'm gonna go all in and say the canon for Inquistion is dalish elf female with Solas. His romance just feels so real, and meaningful, compared to the others.
> I'm gonna go all in and say the canon for Inquistion is dalish elf female with Solas. His romance just feels so real, and meaningful, compared to the others.
Please tell me this is sarcasm...
Don't even consider playing as a filthy knife-ear or a qunari. You're better than that, anon.
Rogues are most OP. Mages are fun, but only after lvl 10. Warriors are for losers that talk about canon choices.
Check out the trials, they're based.
Sera is the most underrated companion.
Fraudwallor Josie if you're into girls.
I romanced everyone but Blackwall so I can't comment on him, but Sera's was pretty nice because she had a lot of content. Dorian and Cass were good too until they dumped you. Bull is the worst and Solas is a waste of 30-50 hours imho
I wish they would just drop the romance shit or keep it very minimal because it's obvious that none of the writers are into writing them at this point and romances just lock you out of character arcs if you aren't willing to pork them
Worst game but DA:I still has the shittiest romances.
DA:I kinda felt like that yeah, the game is long as fuck if you count the sidequests and the romance content is extremely weak in comparsion. They are expected to implement romances in their games though. I mean what else makes BW games stand out?
>I mean what else makes BW games stand out?
They used to provide decent roleplaying experiences in earlier games but somehow started making shit dating sims first and RPGs second after ME2
I mean come on, DAI as a game doesn't even work that well with their half-assed semi-DnD gameplay and borked tactics and would possibly be more fun to play as a single player action adventure game, but no, you have to include 6 romances and a party so that you can hear banter about said romances
Don't listen to this guy
Make an elf and romance Cullen or Solas the only real romance options.
Don't listen to him.
Make an elf and romance Solas or Sera, the only interesting romances in DAI.
If that isn't your goal, then Cullen/Cass/Dorian/Josie are the normal options.
Blackwall and Iron Bull are both failures, so just watch on yt if you are curious.
You need a trip called "Get a trip already" so we know who keeps spamming it then I can filter you.
You're really annoying, and obvious, practically an avatarfagg.
I'm not the one doing it, but it's harmless. You need to calm down.
Dag is getting easily trigged lately, just to be contrarian.
It's a free thread, don't like don't post anything sweetheart :^)
Dorian will definitely return, probably as an NPC a la Hawke and Loghain. I don't think it's possible to avoid including him if Tevinter is one of the locations of DA4. And it better be!
Yes, it really would. And flags.
He'll have at least an npc role and most likely a major one. I'm pretty sure that Leliana will return as a major plot device with all of her lyrium shenanigans. Where was she supposed to have been contacted by the maker again or died/near death?
>someone get ass blasted by a random post
>'everyone' gets butthurt about it for at least 30 minutes
I'm seriously starting to think it's just one schizo because it always happens at around the same time, never during euro daytime, and it just seems bizarre that all these random posters keep getting involved in arguments that should have nothing to do with them.
I'm just waiting for it to be ded and comfy again.
I want to get into KOTOR.
Should I play KOTOR or skip it and play KOTOR 2 with Resto mod?
The thing is, Kotor 1 seems just a little.. bland.
I'm a huge ME and DA 1 fan, and I'm currently striving to deal with KOTOR 1's beginning. The dark/light side choices are just so.. childish.
Does it get better or do you really have to be an edgemaster to go dark side? I don't feel any shades of grey and dunno if it's worth pushing on into KOTOR1. 2 seems more intriguing.
KOTOR 2 is probably the bleakest game Obsidian has done, but it mostly deals with a plot point from 1 so I think it would be confusing without knowing about Revan because you need to pay attention to what's being said and read between the lines to get the full picture of what's going on. I also think that it's fun to play them in sequence because KOTOR 1 is goofy and KOTOR 2 is grimdark and they nicely complement one another, but maybe that's just me
The audio quality of the dialogue in KOTOR1 isn't all that good but it is old so it isn't as big a problem as it is in FO4 where more than half of the dialogue sounds like it was recorded with a cheap microphone in a Skype call.
>BM > BF
Really? BF sounds too commanding and formal all the time, but I still thought she did better than BM, who has nothing going for him.
Haven't tried Zevran's VA, so I wouldn't know how he did.
Why are you assuming he wasn't sacked?
I think, it probably didn't work out with him and the rest of the team or with BW/EA; and that ME:A is in trouble. They'd be showing it off - like they done with DAI - if the game was in a decent shape.
4)love for cats
That's all he's good for.
>replying to jokes seriously
. . ..
It wasn't very funny, so I decided to point out Anders true qualities while giving OP a (You) he so desperately wanted. Here's another, btw. You don't need to thank me.
Now i think i it should be (AM ? BM) ? FB because I never did a complete m-inquisitor playthrough (last one was promising but then i spilled vodka on my laptop and everything went to shit) but after playing through multiple female inquisitors guys VAs seemed better
That's the best you can do, anon? Pathetic. I'm feeling sorry for you right now. I bet you were so friendless growing up you never indulged in the art of insulting. What's next, something about my mother?
>They'd be showing it off if the game was in a decent shape
By that logic, XCOM 2 is a confirmed clusterfuck, since we've barely seen anything of it and it's coming out in a month.
Not that I'm implying that ME:A is in a decent shape, mind you. It's just too early to show anything yet.
Best part of DA2, along with Marian and executing Anders.
1) Greg Ellis is a pretty cool guy. Eh voices blonde men and doesn't afraid of anything.
2) He has pretty good banter with Redhead dwarf Steve Blum.
3) He ends up being a pretty good Grey Warden or takes hundreds of darkspawn down with him.
That seems a bit too far, anon. You know how fun and games stop when you suck off your friend? Kind of like that.
Besides, you'd be missing out on the best girl.
Isn't easier to talk to the mirror, if you just want to talk to yourself? You don't need to wait any time for that, anon.
I don't know anything about XCOM 2, but ME3 had a shitstorm with the fanbase due to the endings. BioWare needs to hype the game all the way, the game is coming this december and we have seem very, very little of it.
Happy new year, /dag/! Hope you had a fun winter holiday. If not, have a cute Alexius!
It's so cute seeing dag get trigged.
I meant rivalmancing but I agree (I don't remember if I ever killed him off like that even if that was my plan)
My pre-dai canon playthrough was one where i dumped Anders for rivalmanced Sebastian because i really wanted that allaiance and marriage after becoming a viscount.
Too bad that in DAI Marian either dies or does some stupid shit with filthy Grey Wardens and Varric takes her place.
but they are cute and in trend and they are warm
