My guess was the same as the Star Driver stuff disabling it on Xillia,and why screen shots are also disabled in both Super Robot Wars Z3 games.

The copy rights. At the start of the games, there's like 2-3 balck screens of nothing buy copy right info for every series in the game and their studios. They can't just use a single copyright watermark for them all, so they just disable it.

They COULD technically program it so that it inserts the appropriate watermark depending on what units were on screen, but that wouldn't work since the units and characters on screen are constantly changing.

Easy modo? Disable the stupid watermark copyright entirey, which is what IF/CH did with the Re;birth games.

Recently Sega did the same with Miracle Girls Festival. Instead of having to go through that shit or disable the screen shot function, they just said fuck it and didn't add a watermark.

On paper it's a standard JRPG but it's not about saving the world or anything like that - you're just an up and coming alchemist who has forcibly inherited your master's shop and you're trying to keep it afloat by fulfilling requests. The main claim to fame is the alchemy system, where you can synthesize items for personal use or to fulfill requests. The base idea is simple but applicable traits and quality of the items you use for synthesis gives it considerable depth in the long run. These games also usually employ time management in some form or fashion - in Rorona's case you have 3 months to complete story missions and you have to use that time wisely to explore new areas, attain whatever materials you need, and fulfill requests, all while trying to build up friendships with other characters. There's a good deal of "how should I best use the time I have?" going on with these games.

I Paralyzed a boss and after it wore off, I was able to Paralyze it again pretty easily.

That said, there's a shitton of games prior to the Arland series but I don't think any of them are localized except the Iris trilogy on PS2, and apparently that one's a bit of a dark horse series. Basically, start with Arland or Dusk, either's fine on their own but start with Arland if the time management sounds any sort of interesting.

Some people suggest Arland since all 3 of the games are already out and localized for Vita.
Other people like the art, music, characters, alchemy, and tone of the Arland games more and recommend them over Dusk for that reason and vice versa.

I try to post that Atelier Guide image and suggest whichever one is currently on sale to try first.
I personally like Dusk a whole lot more too but it mostly comes down to personal preference for which one one would like most.

It was pretty good. It has some very different mechanics but they're all pretty fun.
The biggest gripe is that the old characters are DLC instead of postgame stages, so you have to pay for them if you want them (but you can activate them any time you want, not just postgame). If you don't mind that, it's easily worth it if you enjoyed the other games.
