Later on the red gets backstabbed by the host. I'd say the game decides which animation is played purely based on time and distance.

Like, if you stay right behind them AND they don't move away when you attempt a backstab, you will land a BS. If they're moving away from you, you get the failed BS animation which still does normal damage if it hits but won't initiate a BS.

Were you only looking at your AR on the infusion panel? This is why you saw raw as higher as this panel does not add any bonus AR from scaling.

Blue flame has a C in scaling uninfused, I would be very suprised if raw did actually give it better AR than magic.

If you are casting spells with that blue flame, infuse it magic, if you are using it as a weapon and casting with a staff from the other hand, infuse with either enchanted or magic.

However, the one on the left is REALLY important to unpetrify. He drops 2 bonfires ascetics and he respawns when you ascetic the area (so, infinite ascetics for you).

To be more precise, the guy on the right drops an elizabeth mushroom and a petrified something. Again, if you ascetic the area over and over, you can farm petrified somethings and elizabeth mushrooms.

You can also use a bonfire ascetic in the next area right before the boss to respawn a mimic that drops fragrant branches of yore, so you never have to worry about using them or not.

I'd actually drop the life and chloranthy ring. Third dragon is basically a combined life and chloranthy ring (bonus hp and equip weight) with added stamina and you're not using flynn's so there's no need to worry about a large equip load

Provided your STR is high enough (40 range), you can use pretty much any STR weapon and simply slap Sunlight Blade on top of it and you'll be dishing out damage. Don't even need to infuse it with lightning.

If you really like straight swords, you can try the Drakekeeper's sword. If you want something kind of purpose-made for a STR/FAI build, there's always the Defender's Greatsword. Got nerfed pretty hard, but it's still strong as hell.

If I have a dex build, is ps4 save-scum farming for the old mirrah greatsword worth it?

Walk slightly onto the stairs to agro the spear knight, he takes some time to get up don't worry if it's not instant kill the spear guy go all the way up the stairs while sticking to the right side.

Well, PS3 and X360 versions are basically that. Vanilla DaS2 + DLC. That's the DX9 version. If you want the "changes" you need the DX11 version (PS4, XB1, PC)

Just got DS2, haven't played DS1 since a few years ago.

Only SM matters
You can check it in your character tab, every soul earned goes into it and the counter goes up, for a casual playthrough this just translates to "SPEND YOUR SOULS FUCKER"
There is no reason for leaving a bonfire with more souls than it takes to level up/buy/upgrade gear.
Summoning, invading everything works based on SM tiers, they start out as really small (tier 1-2 takes 10k souls) but get REALLY large lategame (tier 32-33 is 250k SM, tier 40->41 is 3 000 000 souls). Everything works off of these tiers and how many tiers up or down you reach, but its mostly backend stuff that you don't need to concern yourself with. There are orange outlines around the areas that are most active in your SM tier meaning highest chance of getting invaded/summoned

There's an item called the Agape Ring that blocks all incoming soul. You can use that to maintain your SM.

You can also respec in the game using an item called Soul Vessel. You get around 10 of them per NG cycle.

And even if you do decide to only PvP the meta reanges mean that you would have to win nearly a thousand matches to actually start moving too far apart from everyone, because of all the softcaps and shit it really doesn't matter that much.
The final tier in which you might actually find level 800's is at 45+ mil SM, a single playthrough of killing all the bosses and doing all the areas will net you around 5 mil SM.

Levels don't get as absurdly expensive as fast either, so feel free to level shit up, respeccing is a thing so don't worry about wasting stats or whatever

As of SotFS there's a ring that lets you block the ability to gain souls, hence locking your SM. People will usually settle into a point in the meta they're comfortable with and stay there for PvP.

Playing through the vanilla game won't give much indication that Nashandra is the last boss, you have to admit. In hindsight, it makes enough sense that the reaper-like figure at the throne was her, but to say "oh look here comes nashandra" as she enters the throne is taking it a bit far.

Even if enough information is presented to you, look at where the information is presented. It's slipped in right at the middle point of the game. I doubt that it's commonplace for people to recall how that one chick in the painting cursed them as some unknown figure enters the room.

I'll give it to those saying that the 3 crowns DLC explains everything (since scholar makes it one game now), but the standard game did jack shit in that department.

It does encourage twinking but it also means that it's a little different, you're now locked into an exact amount of souls if you want to twink, which means you can't go into say, FoFG with super endgame gear, since you'll have had to pick up souls to upgrade anything you want to upgrade.

You can't see the miracle lady without going to Heide's Tower of Flames. Also, you're gonna want to continue into No Man's Wharf since there's a fragrant branch of yore there.

When you come out from things betwixed (the place where the old ladies were), you head down the path to the fire at majula, if you turn left off that path there will be another cave, going through that will bring you to a little area with a pertified person pulling on a switch and a bunch of door (that have enemies behind), unpetrify that person and then you can open the door they were tying to open (also try not to kill her).
