The guy who invaded me was loaded for bear. Hail GL, Grade 7 battle dress and all. I responded and got to defend against him when he hadn't passed the starting platform. He managed to kill me once because I couldn't snipe him effectively from the first platform (fucking camper) and he caught me off guard with his hail/battle dress after I got close. I switched to a hail on respawn and went nuclear on him, he still took ages to die.

To be honest, Kaz saying "be a little more careful next time" makes me wonder if I killed any of my KIA soldiers.

Disregard my empty first post. I meant to say that using a tranq pistol and mags sparingly is generally better than blasting everyone. I normally don't touch anyone until I get to the final platform. When I'm invading a base dev strut, I'm there for the resources. Resources are hard to take when a defender is there, so I don't like sending him an alert message until it's too late.

When I get to the last platform, I bust out a series of decoys, sniper tranqs, sleep grenades and tranq pistol to put everyone to sleep. If I do it right, no soft alert is raised. Then I can shoot out the UAVs over the ocean, or extract the containers while avoiding them. Someone usually wakes up before I'm done, and if I take too long, I can quickly lose control of the situation, but overall this strategy gets me the cheddar.

I really hoped that a full-sized Metal Gear unit would have been one of the summonable buddies. It would have cost a ludicrous amount of GMP to deploy, but would have been virtually indestructible and would have (proverbially) nuked every enemy outpost in sight from long range with its railgun and missiles.
