I don't know how long I have waited to make a proper log cabin in minecraft.
Though I think I should have looked at some pics of actual log cabins before I started though, this doesn't look right.

The taiga problem is most likely vanilla's fault, you know well how ucked up 1.7 generation is. At least the upcoming RTG version will have compatibility with Climate Control so you'll be able to tweak climate zones so they aren't as huge as they are by default.
Vanilla swamps do generate as well, I know because I have one right by where I set a base up and I'm tired of those endless Naga/Siren assaults. Maybe BoP is the one who fucks swampland generation up?

Hey guys, I've figured out the origin of the wierd map from earlier: it's from an old dungeon map generator thingamagig that I had at one point a couple computers ago and somehow the map managed to survive. Unfortunately, upon digging through the magical city, a creeper ambushed poor Dai and blew her into Sei, but that's okay because now I can churn these maps out ad-infinum! How many fairies does it take to conqure the dungeon challange, you reckon?

Lets find out! Alloting some 146 bullets to her after the previous dozen attempts of just rushing in with nothing led in tradgedy (not like they'll help: most of the deaths have been lava-related.)

And off to a good start: this part of the dungeon contains an iron boomerand and wing set from one of my ill-fated cohorts who perished to the spiders. Since the save is backed up after this point, it's become something of a side-objective to get the boomerang for a reusable weapon, though I've lost about five Dais getting stuck in the webs.

Note that it took a gorillaton of bullets just to kill a silverfish getting in here: think I'll just save them for actually scary things. Like spiders.

They appear with or without BoP. That's a swampland north of the village. Only mushroom islands are disabled by default.

I think it's because there are about 50 million different taiga biomes in vanilla, and all of them have a mutation. I don't think RTG bothers differentiating the mutations because of how fucking retarded the whole base biome ID + 127 thing vanilla uses is, so it just picks the mutations as if they're their own unique biomes.

But yeah, the whole thing could be fixed by them just making the default biome weights more sensible in the config.

While the spider rooms are always bad news, I've lost most of my saves trying to pass through these infernal lava rooms: when Daiyousei hits the ceiling, she rebounds down a bit, which can lead to her hitting her head and falling into a pit of lava. This is most prominent in the sand rooms full of triggers that cause all the sand to fall to reveal lava when stepped on.

Dang it, a stupid maid detonated that lava-sand room! Since it leads to the next area, I'll need to find the nearby sand-room and fill it in to pass.

On an aside, the axe I have is found in a specific quarter of the dungeon behind a landmine room and a smaller lava-sand room: if I had to guess it's the best weapon this place has to offer, and it'll be handy in setting up a base assuming I manage to make it out of this place while carrying it with my current life.

Doing so is a workaround for some bugs. For example, large minetweaker scripts will take a while to run, and when starting the game normally (where the server and client threads are in the same process), minetweaker will run on both threads, blah blah blah, and then any mod crafting tables like auto workbenches, LP auto crafting tables or forestry worktables will lose all of their recipes.

BC is still alive. Get Railcraft and Forestry too if you like BC.
IC2 died and spawned an infinite amount of "industrial" mods. Some of which I like are EnderIO, Immersive Engineering and Rotarycraft.
RP is dead too, but there's Redlogic to replace circuitry and logic parts of it.

If you want some more flavor, I could recommend Matter Overdrive and RFTools.

the full stone slabs recipe is actually added by gregtech. I know of several mods that add that convenience recipe.
I don't use minetweak because once you start you never stop. I end up changing every single recipe to fit in with gregtech.

the emblem is a raden charm from AMT2, used for fast travel. you can use them as items or embed them in blocks to make static teleporters.

I figured out how I killed the serb. I put an EIO Item Buffer next to an Agricraft Seed Storage, and EIO crashes when it tries to check for items to pull. Deleting the buffer or the storage should fix the crashes.

Not sure how you are going to delete it though. Maybe the server's crash reports have the coordinates of the item buffer, and you can delete it with MCEdit?

To try to answer it myself, the only one that's been recommended to me is railcraft & and a small mod that makes railcraft compatible with TFC. Apparently railcraft is the mod that adds trains, so I'm looking into how that works now. Archimedes updated? That's wonderful news, though I recalled older versions had optional (a bit VERY glitchy) mobility on-vessel. Not sure if I'm refering to the same mod, but I think at one point it had functional redstone as well, which was a godsend for my tank models. Do Mystcraft worlds run like shit for anyone else. I have loaded up about 8 ages and my game lags the fuck out everytime I try to go into them. I thought it might have just been the chunks loading in the new age. But the lag doesn't go away until I restart minecraft.

The less convoluted ways of getting my hands on the stuff are digging in the same direction for ages in hope of a natural y=11 cave or collecting the handful of lava sources that generate in Twilight Forest Minotaur Labyrinths.

When you're underground, keep checking JourneyMap for nearby lightsources, especially ravines. It's cheaty, but it's an option.

If you've already found a number of villages, you can find two lava blocks in a Blacksmith villager house.

Otherwise, digging at y=11 or just going caving until you get down to that level is your best option.

its easy. toolbar at the top has everything you need to make instances and shit.
when you select an instance you get a bunch of bullshit on the right; to actually install forge you Edit Instance -> Version -> Install Forge button.
adding mods is in the Loader Mods section.
'Settings' is where you set your memory allocations, make sure you actually set those if you use Java 7. and make sure your permgen is at least 256mb

everything else is either somewhat intuitive or stuff you can figure out by tinkering.

I used to have an issue where as I kept playing MC, the game got more and more laggy, and I was forced to close the game and reopen it whenever it got to that point. Depends what kind of toaster you're running. 512mb is a good minimum, but your max should be roughly half of your total physical RAM. So, if you've only got 2gb in your machine, then that's fine, yeah. 4gb you'd be better off with 2048mb, etc.

Nope, FastCraft is working just fine. The console spits out a lot of garbage while booting up, but you can safely ignore all of it unless you're getting severe lag or crashes.

I'm afraid that won't work out, unless you're planning to host one on your own. A client and server need to have (more or less) all the same mods in order for it to work right. A premade pack would probably be your best bet if your aim is multiplayer; /mcg/ has a few servers up that you can get to by downloading their pack. Generally, /mcg/'s custom packs are uploaded as MultiMC instances; you just extract the contents of the .zip into MMC's Instances folder and it should appear in your list.

Why does this modpack still exist? Minecraft got slower with every version, but this pack gets bigger all the time. It's not even playable on an I7, and takes an eternity to load.

there's 4 kinds of blocks, solid, glass, glowing solid, and glowing glass

You can paint an object a normal color, but also apply a dye type to it, you have 8 options. Once an item is done, it will look as it does when you made it, but you can put it inside of a dye table with up to 8 different jars of dye to recolor it.

The mod just has special slot, you can wear the things with normal armor on still (so you can, say, have the goggles I made there paired with a fortress helm, and it will work and look pretty good, you will have z-fighting issues with normal helmets due to the goggles only being 1 "block" thick)

If your instance is configured for the item in question, you can use the skinning table for single item remodeling

It's all pretty easy, the hardest part, aside from building the item, is doing the shading tricks (the mod has dodge and burn/noise/value shifting tools)

In my experience, BC pipes have been easiest to use. Most of the stuff don't even have GUIs. I find it easier and more fun to play with different types of pipes rather than sitting in front of a GUI all day.

I also have EnderIO, but I only use it if I need to have multiple pipes in onee block.

My god, the magic side of things is so shit compared to the tech. Tech progression makes sense and the things that you get out of it are actually powerful. Magic requires all the schools, but everything that you can make from it is so shit from the effort you need to put into it.

TE Piping is insanely easy. Usually if the liquid can go into something, it'll go.

Pumping things OUT, that requires either a Servo or a Retriever; A servo pushes things out from itself, while a retriever will suck things towards it from any available inventory/tanks.

Feel free to ask away, EIO piping is probably the strongest as far as function and cost, but are the most tedious to do in a mass input/output setting. Thermal Dynamics piping is great for doing mass things, though can be slow with its flow and such, but when you're doing things in mass production it can actually be easier to set up.

You don't need both, just one!

If you want to filter what things go into something along the way, you use a Filter (much cheaper than the retriever) but you don't need both to make a piping system work. Usually a Servo is enough to work a simple system (pulling Creosote out of a Coke oven, Moving things from a chest to a furnace, etc.) though keep in mind that some systems auto-push into pipes. Themal Dynamics auto-output as long as you have the included upgrade in them, meaning you don't need a servo on a machine unless you're going to be running redstone conduit to manipulate outputs while not wanting to stop the machine, of which you could use EIO conduit (Redstone+Item/Fluid) to further compact and uncomplicate it.

I'd say the Sojurnor's sash is still worth it, not too much effort for it's value and as it barely uses any mana, you don't need a whole lot of it to keep going and I don't think there is anything on the tech side that gives the speed boost or the step up.

Still, most of this stuff needs better balance. I'm just glad they changed the magic side on how to get the Tinker's Forge. Originally it was all of the Terra Steel tools. Now it's 4 Terrasteel Ingots, but Terrasteel now costs a full mana pool instead of half of one and Mana is a bitch to generate at the start of the game.

Not to mention that if you have four pieces of Terrasteel, why would you try to get a Forge when you could just make the Terrashatter?

I think they should just leave the Forge on the tech side of things. I am happy though with the way those tools have worked out. My set of Enderium tools are so powerful that it makes anything else worthless.

The only thing better is an Efficiency 5 Advanced Diamond Drill, or an S level Terrashatter with Efficiency 5

One of the biggest reasons why I hate ChromatiCraft is how fucking long it takes to actually progress into it. It requires you to explore EVERYWHERE in order to do shit with it. And I'm not joking, you have to see everything in order to "research" shit, like seeing bedrock, going to the nether/end, seeing UP CLOSE all 16 colors of those super deadly beacons that kill you in 3 hits and ignore armor, locating every type of dungeon that's vanilla or what ChromatiCraft adds. EC3 makes TC easy. you will have WAY more elemental gems than shards. Plus, when you get to hoanna, you basically get free voidmetal in any quantity you want, and magical metal can be used as thaumium most of the time, and all you have to do for that is throw iron in a radiating chamber

I'm Namkob; and last I checked, I've only started playing this game again in the past few days. Now, I don't 100% remember sharing my account with anyone, but that fact that a 2hu fag apparently has access to it telling me that I might have in fact given that person in particular access.

now I'm at the iron age in the tfc serb because of that unending persistence

Lesson one about fighting skeletons
Don't fight skeletons, it means they win

if they come at you, just move away, there's always a direction that you can move to avoid, and if you're decently far away, sprinting will dodge nearly all shots they send

I already have Chisel installed. Marble does a very good job at being the white colored stone and provides plenty of different textures. Shame limestone is just ugly as fuck, though.
Heck, I've even thought about using Modtweaker to change Limestone's name to something else and completely replace its textures... if only there were actual textures to replace it with.

I'm not touching Botania, especially not for aesthetics.

And that's too far. In order for hostile mobs to spawn, you need to be more than 28 blocks away, but if you are more than 128 blocks away the mobs will despawn. So I'm guessing that platform at 150 will spawn them, but when they go for the killing chamber they despawn before they get there.

Find center of the spawn box. Go 30 blocks away. Tell me the rates then.

Case in point, this is my Hyperspawner design, which relies on Thaumic Tinkerer's Corporeal Attractor (which goes under the orange wood) to bring all the spawned mobs into killing range of MFR Grinders (Where the Stone would be). I stand in the middle of the entire system (Red glass, the green glass is used to show center of the system) of which I am 25 blocks from the nearest wall. This system, at full gear, churns out roughly 12,000 drops per hour.

i stood 30 blocks away and the spawns improved definitely maybe to 15 or 20 per minute but it's still not as fast as on my SP world, and it still has the problem where like 30 will spawn at once and then nothing for a couple of minutes

I did some digging i think its a problem with one of the plugins the admin is running, i think he installed some kind of mob limiter that fucks with hostile spawns because i ported the same design into a singleplayer world and they were spawning just fine

I'm going to assume the best of you and say you have it installed just for debugging purposes because if I made a build that big I'd want to take measures to make sure it was working optimally, too. But I'd never install x-rays because caving is one of my favorite parts of Minecraft, even in modded when I need to dive into caves all the fucking time to keep up with resource demands. Quarries and xrays and magic ore generators (looking at you, IE) just aren't my thing.

This triggers levels of my autism that I didn't even know I had. Luckily there's that 16x texture pack for them to amend this issue.

Also, you may want to install UBC Ore Registrar or whatever it is. The ores will be put right into the new stones rather than spawning the regular kinds. I dunno if you need to configure it specially, but if you do you can steal the shit from Blightfall.

Ocean biomes have to have the same general distribution per chunk of ore. And since a good third of that is water, it makes the ore a LOT more dense. One of the reasons why I love strip mining and quarrying oceans.

Yeah, I played on a server like that. Since the hostile mob cap is supposed to be 70*(C/289), and in Single player worlds there's usually only a 17x17 square loaded at any time. Server admins can fuss with these numbers as to not have entities bog down the server to a slideshow.

as for the ores, that's all gregtech so I doubt ubc ore registrar would help. there's zero vanilla ores in my worlds, except for the stray iron ore blocks I find inside BetterStorage backpacks dropped by enemies.

It's IC2. Reactors are fun if you like to automate the fuel processing/recycling, otherwise just go for a BR or a steam engine or something.

There are 36 reactors behind me. There's no way I'm crafting that much fuel by hand. The only reason I could build so many is from finding a couple uranium veins for the IE excavator. Normally you can only build 4-5 even with quarries.

The radiation effect must be bugged. It's not hurting me even after taking off my hazmat suit.
