It is the weakest class in the game, both in terms of average player performance and what unicums can do with it. If they ever manage to rebalance it and make it properly skill based the amount of butthurt will be insane, which is probably why they're dragging their feet on the changes.

KV-13 is more of a low-tier bully tank, if you ask me, but it's okay.
If you want fun Tier 7 mediums then your best bets are T20 for mobility and alpha and T-34-1 if you like high alpha.
If you prefer overpowered gun depression the British comet is lovely, many consider it to be the best Tier 7 medium (Although the T20 will always remain the best to me).

It's a great tank, it really is.

However I've never actually been in a game within my own tier and maybe one above and one below.

Every time I use the T20 I get into matches where there's only a couple Tier 7's and everyone else is an 8 or a 9.

Really puts me off playing it because I know it's great, but it can't compete at that level.

The KV-13 is decent and leads to the T-43 towards the T-62/Object 140 for the meds and leads to the IS line for the heavies.

Give it a try and if you dont like it then, you can allways use it as a good start point towards the med/heavy lines.

I actually made the T20 work in Tier 8s, really good tank and it's funny when tier 8 mediums underestimate you, but yes, tier 9 is incredibly difficult for the thing. Then again, is there a tier 7 medium that has it easy in tier 9 matches? I have encountered tier 7 matches in my T20 though, and god fucking damn does it murder everything in it's way.

Once you get top gun, it's a blast. Shreds other mediums of its tier, can bounce shots others wouldn't, it's basically a mini IS-2. Against Teir 6 tanks, it's a monster. Against higher teirs though, don't expect to be doing too much - armor is kind of pathetic against even T7 heavies.

Slow, no camo, a low enough ammo capacity to be an actual problem, decent AP pen but no HEAT/APCR when you want it, enemies can shoot you for several seconds before you can shoot them when you crest hills, tiny gun arc.

The alpha on the gun is nice but you give up so much for it, I'd rather play my SU-152 with HEAT instead. The only thing I lose is gun depression, which the Emil isn't great at using anyway.

No it doesn't, the camo is a huge problem. In every other t7 TD I can load a high pen APCR/HEAT shell when I want it for a t9 heavy. I can't do that in the Sturer Emil.

Also I forgot to mention the horrible armour that makes autocannons and HE an actual threat.

I've got 2750 in it and I played it back when I was light blue overall, which was about the same as the rest of my recent stats. A good player doing well, or even better than their average, in the tank they've played most recently isn't surprising or notable.

The tank is incapable of carrying games, and falls apart whenever it has to do anything proactive.

One of the things wrong with the tank is the lack of a higher pen shell. 231 pen is good for AP but falls short of what you want to deal with an E-75, 4502B frontally, even unangled. Every other tech tree t7 TD, except the Challenger, which is worse, and the 100m1, which is fast and has good camo, can load a shell that will deal with an unangled E-75 reliably.


The low speed, low armour, non-existent camo, and lack of gun arc are bigger problems, especially combined. You're focusing on pen because it's easier to pretend like it's not a problem.

Carrying is different from just winning though? I have a 66% WR in mine, mostly solo but not completely, and that doesn't make it not shit. I have some of my highest stats for the for t9 mediums in the Type 61 and that's probably the second worst one.

Trying to deal with, say, three enemy tanks when you're the only tank left is much harder in a huge, unarmoured, slow, shitbox with no camo, and below average accuracy and gun handling than it is in any of its peers.

In a higher camo or faster tank you can sit in a bush and run way after dealing with one.

Also the thing is utterly worthless on any city map. The Sturer Emil is the worst possible platform for a decent gun, and the good points of the gun don't make up for the bad points of the platform. Not as bad as the challenger though, which isn't much better but has extremely low alpha.

Over 140 games every individual battle is worth 0.71% of your total. I wouldn't read too much into your exact win percentage.

Also you're doing it wrong. A 60% player getting 60% in a tank means the tank is probably average, but a 64-65% player getting 60% in a tank (let's assume over enough battles to get the standard deviation down) means the tank is utter trash. Likewise a 55% player getting 60% would mean the tank is laughably OP.

The Sturer Emil only has two good points, and those are alpha and gun depression. Gun depression is one of the best things to have, but it's not great at making use of it and it is situational. In exchange the Emil gives up everything else, and it comes out very far behind in the trade.

I've played mediums for too long and just want the biggest fattest shit available to fuck around in, preferably with a strong gun as well. But not something that feels broken like Jap heavies. I've heard British tanks fall off in later tiers, should I just go for the Russian heavies everyone and their mother has played?

Good tanks:
T20 if you like well rounded vehicles
T-34-1 if you want a bigger gun and socialist troll turrets (and don't mind randomly exploding or bursting into flame)
Comet if you like high rof and good gun handling.

Niche but workable tanks:
KV-13 is good for bullying lower tiers but struggles against t8 heavies and anything in t9 due to low pen.
Panther is good at long range DPM but you have to play like a total bitch due to bad camo, big profile and weak armor
VK 30.02D is another good bully tank but you have to choose between low pen with the 88 or low alpha with the 75
Czech T-34 is similar to the Chinese, but you trade higher gold pen for lower rof, higher top speed for worse handling

Garbage tanks:
A-44 has a good gun but the platform is miserable to drive
Chi-Ri has the same issue, I like the gun but it's attached to a sluggish tank that gets penned by arty
T-43 pretty much a slightly faster but overall way shittier KV-13 that catches on fire from frontal pens like a chink tank

Blasted him in the face for 400, rammed him for quite a bit (and took no ramming damage because >T-71), he bounced like 4 shots off my frontal before I hit him again down to 8hp and tapped him to finish him off.
It was a genuine "Fuck out of here nigger" moment, it was so beautiful. Also flanked the Czech T7 and he literally just fucked off. Just drove away. I ignored him and went for a T26E4 expecting him to shoot me in the ass but he didn't, just fucking kept going in the opposite direction until my team brazzered him.

ground resistances were nerfed to shit when it got the HD remodel and now it's as sluggish as a heavy tank, and its 100mm armor was finally outclassed when the 54mod1 was introduced

gun is pretty shit with long aim time, bad accuracy, and low pen, plus the reload time is on the low side for tier eight meds

literally the only good thing about the type is the -7 gun depression and the pref matchmaking
