I don't know if VR will succeed or not but of the three alternatives I think PSVR has the best chance.

They can sell the hardware at a loss and recoup with license fees.
No doubt will Oculus store and Steam also make money from license fees but on PC there is no guarantee that people who buy your hardware will use your store. Sony has shown in the past that they're willing to take significant losses on hardware, are Valve and Oculus willing to do the same?

VR will also need a novel killer VR-only game to succeed. I don't think VR-mode in games/genres that already work fine on a normal screen will cut it.
There is no way a 3rd party will put their full weight behind a VR-only game, low to mid budget VR stuff and VR-mode in their established games sure but no more.
Which leaves the 1st parties.
In the last 8 years how many NOT online-only games have Valve made? Portal 2 and...?
A VR online-only game might be good but working within that microtransaction based formula puts big restrictions on what kind of game it can be.

Facebook funding a AAA game? I can't see it, maybe they'll make something like VR Second Life.

Sony has shown that they're willing to fund a variety of games, they own a lot of studios, they're close with a lot of studios.
If VR gets a killer game then I think it is most likely to be paid for with Sony's shekels.

The remaster added a Brutal difficulty that unlocks after you beat a game on Crushing, but I'm not touching that shit.

Trophies also consist of killing enemies with every weapon, with melee, while hanging, and so on. I think each game has about two trophies for speed running two certain levels, in the speed run mode. The most annoying trophies for me were always the ones that require you to kill ten enemies in a row with a melee attack after weakening them with gunfire. Important to note however that you can get all these trophies with cheats that unlock after beating the game--fast motion, kill enemies with one bullet, etc.

I thought the general consensus was that there were to many open world games, what do people expect games to be if they aren't open world if not linear games?

I could understand if a person had a general dislike of third person shooters, but I really like what Uncharted does.
PEopel say its gunplay is boring but I love it, other games I feel like you usually duck behind a wall and just peak out to kill people, there can be a little of that in Uncharted but when I play I feel like I am always on the move so much more then other cover based shooters.

I'm climbing a wall to get a better vantage point of rolling out of the way of a grenade just to get close to someone and melee them, and while this is going on there is usually some form of calamity happening like the building falling down around me or the plane I'm in exploding, there is so much happening on screen.

I'm not gonna claim Uncharted is the be all end all shooter, or that anyone who doesn't like it has shit taste or anything like that, but I do enjoy them a lot.

I like both too but I think I'm finding now that with linear games, I sort of have a hard time justifying paying full price for them considering they can be finished rather quickly. There is a middle ground between Linear and Open World though, whether it's just making the game a bit more open or having little hubs ala Deus Ex. So PS4 gen, my New Year's resolution is to limit myself to one new game a month this year since I managed to splurge and get a backlog this year. I'm hoping that by sticking to this plan I'll whittle it down this year.

But Digimon, I've heard, is pretty short and easy so if it won't last I'm not too sure about it.

There's way too much stuff I want this year.
