I just started EOU2 on classic expect and made a rookie mistake which caused my team's exp to not be even anymore.

With that, I figured this would be a good time to decide if I want to keep my team or restart.

I'm currently using a,
War Magus/Protector/Dark Hunter
Hexer/Gunner


Mainly I'm wondering how well a Beast does in tanking compared to a Protector and should I replace my Dark Hunter and Gunner with something else (perhaps a Medic or Landy and Alchemist, respectively). The Hexer and War Magus must stay for personal reasons, but should I mainly go heals with the War Magus first?

Lands do great damage, but under the right circumstances, a Dark Hunter is going to outdamage them handily, on top of having access to Rose Prison. Alchemists are also great, but a Gunner is going to be more versatile and not need to worry about enemies who resist elemental skills, since their shots are stab+elemental instead of pure element. My only worry until you get some grimoires is that your hexer is going to be is a little over-burdened needing to apply ailments and binds. War Magi are great damage dealers and support classes once they have a ailment to exploit, but their Random Disease skill sucks for getting it to stick. You'll want to give them hexer ailment grimoires ASAP. Focus on some healing at first to start the magi off, then move onto their other attack/support skills (namely Ailing Slash and Barrier).

Story mode isn't spectacular. You can't build your party, but you get a bonus dungeon. It's also a good way to learn the ropes if you're new to the series.

Classic lets you build your party and is minimalistic in the story department. Personally, I'd recommend classic.

EOU1 also has 2 story mode classes that you "Unlock" if you star a NG+ after you beat story to classic (You don't actually get new classes, just Ricky and Highlander)

Something I'm somewhat concerned about is whether the designated PCs of Story mode will make things more tedious by virtue of restricting my option pool of classes. Of course, that's probably not the case if most of them are overpowered compared to your typical class. Is this meaningful at all, or do you get one character of each class anyway, so it doesn't really matter?

You get five party members: an alchemist, protector, and medic based on the EO1 classes, a gunner based on the EO2 class, and a brand new highlander class. It all works pretty well together. The highlander is pretty physical-oriented, but he gets a great physical attack buff, a good binding skill (though it also binds you and only really shines at max level), and has a skill that synergizes well with the alchemist's elemental attacks and/or the gunner's elemental shots. They're a little situational and niche, but they work with the other specific party members you have.

the easier way to spam a dinogator is to go throught the first teleporter and instead of going to the normal way, you take the teleport n°1 to go back to the first room.

Teleport zero should throw you to a secret area where the Dinogator spawn. You need to repeat the process everytime after you kill one of them

The order changes from game to game and I don't often bother remembering them all. Some of the more notable ones, also one "month" each year lasts only for one day.

EOIV's months according to some thread on GameFAQs:

The first four sets are "seasons" with Light Blue, Green, Brown, and Dark Blue, and the year's end day(Summoner in this case) is in Purple.

Most of the other games use many(if not all) of the same months divided into similar sets, but a different order.

Each full month is 28 days to denote weekly divisions accurately, with the year's end day left over to add up to 365 days in a year from them all. So you get 13 months and New Year's Eve listed as its own month.

One big advantage Classic has over story is that you can make use of more than 5 people in order to more easily adapt to various situations, such as the creation of a gathering team or a conditional hunting team without swapping out grimoire stones as often. I'm playing EO4 for the first time and I'm stuck - I made it into the Scarlet Pillars but I can't figure out where to go. I found a Miasma place but I passed out and can't make it into there because of some 10 step restriction. Is that where I'm supposed to go?

The 10 steps thing resets after you enter a door, so you need to work your way around the room to open the shortcut that >>126562670 mentioned. You're looking for the mining node with the super special rocks that will let your ship raise in altitude.
