A lot. There's quite a few new mechanics and overhauls, and the game was even rewritten quite a bit. Though that also means there's not a huge amount of new content like new areas and monsters (there is some of that though) it's mostly the layout and base gameplay that changed quite a bit.

Nigga you can mix and match, and also layer multiple articles of clothing. Each piece of armor actually physically covers the parts of your body its on. There's no bullshit armor bonus for your health.

So, you can be in a full suit of armor and basically be untouchable from things like cutting/stabbing. Then a skeleton brains you with a flanged mace and you're dead.

The latest beta sharpened the movement up more. It's stiffer and less drunken but still requires management of momentum. You can still look like a drunken idiot if you get off balance and don't bother to get your feet under you again.

I wish audio was allowed on boards other than gif. It really helps as a cue to show when contact was made, some of the swings in this look like they missed (like the last one) but they really just hit him fucking fast in the head.

You need to work your way carefully to having a few fighters to swap between. If you let your main character 'die' I'm pretty sure the whole thing is game over.

Fighters regain HP between arena battles, so if you want someone with low HP to heal up, you can't use them for a while.

This is something I don't think either of us could stress enough.

Audio plays a huge part in this game and it's actually really satisfying as well. The sound of armor plates clashing when you get into that kind of 'boxers hug' is great.

Also you fuckers need to feint your attacks more. You can trick the AI pretty well into attacking and giving you a nice opening for a clean strike.

I don't really like feinting because it only seems useful with small, light weapons. With large weapons, it takes time to reset before you can strike and doesn't make it as useful. I guess there's skills for that though.

I trick the AI by purposefully missing the first swing so they'll close in for a counter, then catching them with the backhand. It's also beast as fuck when you miss the first, then crouch as you swing the second, letting their counter whiff right over your head as you chop their legs out from under them. Bad times if they go for an overhead though.

Kinda hard to describe, but I'll try.

Think tank controls (relative to the character) and the character looks in the direction of the cursor. It can get disorienting when the camera isn't directly behind the player (which is why the other guy making webms has it snap behind him by pressing space) but allowing the camera to stay fixed and learning how to use gestures to enhance strikes really opens up what you can do in the game.

Striking is basic, left click to swing from your right, left click with the cursor on your left shoulder to swing with the left. Double left click to overhead, ALT+click to stab. It's basic, but meant to be enhanced with gestures. You can see my cursor go all over the place in some of my webms, lets you do crazy shit the basic strikes.

The game is all about footwork though. You character is subject to physics, so for example, if you're leaning right and want to sidestep left, there's going to be a delay before you can actually get moving left. Keeping your opponent off balance and unable to put their mass into swings is paramount.
