For those who want more time in training mode do the following:
1. In character select, chose the character you want to train on the 2P side or both
2. Press Pause/Start and go to dummy settings
3. Change status to Playback Recording
4. Select Action Recording and select Recording slot 1
Matching making will be paused and you'll get 99 seconds to mess around. Once the 99 seconds are up, just back out and in again to get another 99
Now post qt Chun-Li

Since the game is on PC, is the game going to suffer the same fate as IV where BR's would just give themselves a billion points to be at the top of the rankings?
Who cares about ranking its super easy to exploit by disconnecting and boosting anyway.
Also everyone who plays street fighter knows who all the best players are anyway since they travel to tournaments.
So what do you guys think of the game? I know there is another thread up, but it's just your typical waifufags /vg/ circle jerk styled thread that will probably plague SFV on /v/ for its whole life span.
I'm particularly curious about what think of crush counters.
For me I'm not a fan. The game has an engine that encourages footsies already, but the crush counter system just gives way too much reward to low risk pokes. I think it is making gorilla characters like Karin and Chun Li way too strong.
It feels like characters like Necalli and Zangief and such have to rely on it just to get anything going too. It's like they didn't want to flesh out the footsies enough to make it more than just using a single move so they introduced a random mechanic to tell you to use the other move instead.
Really not sure what they were going for with Chun Li. It's like they regretted how shitty and unfun she was to use in IV so they gave her normals on the same tier as her Third Strike self, but still felt that it was okay to make hyakuretsukyaku a command and also to keep her projectile strong. If they were going to buff her normals so much then why not make her projectile pure shit like with Sakura, basically only useable via the EX on their wakeup?
And don't even get me started on Chun Li's v-trigger. I really don't get it. V-triggers like Chun Li and Ryu that just augment the character probably shouldn't be cancelable. You should have to do it naked. It seems silly to be able to activate them even during a blockstring and then go ham with your new power. It's especially bad with Chun Li. You basically have to reserve your v meter to alpha counter her, but of course it's still punishable.
I used to hate Rashid. I still hate his design (his alt looks great though), but having messed with him a bit I think he's pretty cool. I don't care for his projectile, but he has some neat attacks and probably the coolest v-trigger so far.
My main for the beta is Laura. She's quite fun
Here's some new Info.
>You can unlock the ability to buy an alt costume for a character by clearing their arcade/story mode.
>Colors are unlocked by doing Survival mode with your character
they have a new trailer up for modes/features.
Anyways on topic of the beta: fucking have to play with a pad now thanks capcom, however i decided to go with Ken and i have 0 problem executing his stuff on Pad, however in final release i also want to play Bison and Cammy and those without a stick might be painful.
>The game has an engine that encourages footsies already
No it dosent, SFV has very little footsies in it, walk speed is the slowest its ever been, normal's have no range on them and the game has that stupid priority system.
There is no incentive to jump in or do much of anything in SFV but sit at the edge of your best normals range and keep doing it. It's footsies at the most boring, but definitely footsies. Unfortunately there is nothing else to the game than that.
There's a good reason why even the best Neccalis right now are just ones who do standing HK (I assume that is what the move is) at max range over and over again hoping for a crush counter
Chun's V trigger was very good in the early betas. It allowed medium attacks to be linked with heavy's and vise versa. It created some great combos. Thats all gone now, and the only way to get it is if you get a counter hit in somewhere.
i like being able to lend it to a friend or play at a friends house, i also like having the option to resell games.
also i heard the PC version runs like shit for a lot of people and my pc is a little bit older.
Have you tried setting network status to 5? I was playing BR's with terrible lag before I set that and now I'm playing only US players
Buy the adapter. I don't' have the link but I think it's like $15.
I love what I have played of the game so far, but I'm ready for the actual release. Kinda done with getting matched with teleporting players from another fucking continent.
Put 50 hours into the beta. Can't wait to go to the lab in peace.
Yes, but americans get a 99$ version with a sick ryu statue, i rather would have that to be honest.
It's keeping my settings I think. The only time I've seen it reset is when I exit the game. I'm not sure if it's actually working, I'm just telling you what I've experienced. I haven't played any people outside the US since I changed it.
>mfw armored normals
Maybe I'm missing something but the matchup seems HEAVILY in Birdies favor.
>playing Necalli vs chun-le
What can you do?
all her normals beat mine
It's basically a long ass block string. It's still extremely strong. It also lasts really long and can be great to use mid combo to get more damage.
But yeah it used to be even stronger.
They all do except LP SPD. It has stupid huge range. It makes no sense when you compare it to other command throws. The range compared to even the other SPDs will make your eyes grow wide.
If you do pretty much any normal he'll get you half a screen away
It's not even slow down. My opponents literally teleport around the screen and the game takes away hits I land and then refills my opponents HP and lets them grab me out of attacks that already hit them.
This is some JoJoASB tier shit
When you cant beat them at their optimal range you should move into yours.
You definitely wont be able to outpoke her, so either stay at max range and stomp the ground or try to rush her down.
Go full gorilla man with those divekicks and shit.
>last beta was crushing with Zangief
>this wave everyone has him figured out, I have to be absolutely perfect to squeak out wins
>go back to Mika since I was doing well with her in wave 2, find out her midscreen reset is back
My win rate went from 60 to 85, holy shit do I love Mika
She has no universal AA option, its a blessing and a curse because she always has to pick the right one.
But yeah, thats the way. You gotta play her game for a while until you can force her to play your game.
I mean, if you can use your normals and pokes effectively against others you can play like that.
Its just that its not the greatest option against all characters.
>lots of scrub Dhalsims hoping to get wins with fireball and limbs only
>Mika's c.HP beats out Dhalsim limbs every time due to normal priority system
>when they can't use limbs anymore they panic and just start trying to get close to throw
Is a perfectly spaced H. Tatsu as ken punishable on block?/ comboable on hit?
i started using it as a zoning tool and thanks to the weird angle most people won't anti air it and it goes over fireballs / dash in moves.
Neccali isn't a gorilla character. He's too shitty for that. Gorillas can do whatever they want because their moves beat everything out. Karin and Chun Li are gorilla characters
Gorilla chars are based on safety of mash, not on good hitboxes. Nash is SFV's gorilla, and even then he's made of paper and without wakeup options.
I made this hype trailer even though everyone's in the beta
Just reposting for those who haven't seen it. Modes trailer for SFV.
>Finish story mode for that character to unlock their story costume for use in the eShop, purchasable with Fight Money
How about not making a gimmick character then? How about tone down the range on LP SPD and give him back green hand or a non shitty v-skill?
I don't get why they added Zangief in. I didn't see the point in his inclusion when he was announced and I sure don't now. It's like they saw Hugo and T Hawk, realized both were more interesting, but put Gief back in just for nostalgiafags.
Except then they changed him up anyway
Well it better then anything capcom has made
Good job anon-kun
I fucking love his VA, Wakamoto.
>Clear survival mode to unlock new colors according to your level!
This might seem like a pain in the ass on Hardest difficulty when the CPU starts reading your inputs, if it ever gets to that point. I don't think it did in IV. Fuck, I might have liked it better when they just gave you the alt colors by clearing Arcade mode repeatedly. Sounds like they're making everything a grind.
His v-skill is great, it's perfectly suited to a grappler, but it has to work in concert with his LP SPD. You v-skill a limb and then SPD, or you stay back and v-skill projectiles to get v-trigger so you can punish projectiles with a ton of damage
Gief gets changed a bunch in every iteration
What can I do against a jumping zangief? Nash's AAs suck ass.
Maybe my problem is zoning properly, since I'm the rush in type, but from the feedback of you guys it seems I have to be patient and keep my distance at all costs.
>What can I do against a jumping zangief? Nash's AAs suck ass.
Look for jitter, if you have a bunch and you're totally wired your ISP is fucking you
I'm not sure which normal it is since I don't use him, but one of his normals beats pretty much every single thing anyone could ever do when jumping. They might as well get rid of jumping in general in this game. It's completely worthless against pretty much everyone but the one or two characters with absolutely no good AA options.
If you have a character that can link from st MP there isn't even a point doing jump ins on wakeup. Just meaty normals all day
QCF + kick is good against it if I do just before he jumps, but if he doesn't I'm just helping him get close.
QCB + Roundhouse takes too long to go off and has low priority against his jumping HP.
Crouching MP is ok, but it doesn't help keeping Zangief far away.
Maybe I should just pick another character then.
HOLY FUCK ZNAGEIFS AIR GRAB RANGE
what in the fuck are capcom thinking
>crapcom says to set the connection to 3-5 and it'll be better
>still the same stuttery, teleporting garbage
Man, I hate Mika and Karin as it is but this netcode is making me despise them completely.
>tfw this is the worst that Zangief has ever been
You should be using projectiles to keep him pressured for the most part, walking behind them and extending normals past them as they approach
Use s.HK or EX tragedy for anti-air
the netcode is amazing, except when you play someone far away, in wich case no netcode in the world could fix that.
the hardcore lag is just more noticable in 5 because of the crazy teleporting.
Fighter Scrub here. Got beta access from a friend and it's my first real experience with SF. Been doing a few matches with Ryu since I thought that would be the best option, and am currently enjoying getting rekt in every match. Any tips on getting better or is it just a case of more time and practice needed?
stop jumping so much.
wait for them to jump in and respond with a shoryuken/cr. Hard punch
get to know the ranges of your 6 basic attacks
and then get to know some real basic combos for punishing your opponent.
>it's just your typical waifufags /vg/ circle jerk styled thread
Thats a /v/ thing m8
/vg/ Street Fighter threads are kinda like /ic/ drawthreads. A bunch of people that should be quite happy with how great they've gotten spending all day talking about being shit at their hobby and trying to get better
/v/ is where people just talk about armpits, feet and SFM porn, and sometimes that shitposting leaks into the /vg/ threads.
What fags don't get about /vg/ is that every general is like its own little board with its own communities. some threads are awful, while others are top tier.
Almost everything on /v/ is awful these days.
>has no argument so he just does random green text and then posts an epic reaction image
Thanks for proving his point.
It has basically become impossible to discuss anything on /v/ anymore. There is almost nothing that differentiates /v/ from /b/ these days.
Because his range is fucking dogshit and gets beat out by literally everyone but Gief. Not to mention his AA sucks since the only DP that has iframes is the MP one and even that one gets beat out by the meatier air normals.
I've been spending the last 4 days in /fgg/
They spend almost the entire thread talking about just the game and helping each other out, while telling /v/ shitposters to fuck off when they drop in with low quality posts like yours
>My hairdo's perfect! But yours ain't half bad either
Birdie says this to Rashid. I can't tell if this is sarcasm because he's wearing the turban or if he is specifically talking about his beard and they just fucked up the translation
Probably hackers or people with less than 5 on the netcoding. Were you born retarded?
Maybe you should go back there
You are a fucking liar. I went to them with a problem multiple times and they spent the whole thread posting waifus and talking about how one game sucked but theirs was good. Its a fucking useless mess.
Just played the beta for the first time yesterday
>Chun's hyaku is a QCF motion now
I fuck with this. It makes a dramatically huge difference in combos, wow. Didn't really follow changes so that's why I'm late to the party.
I just realized the ends of Birdie's chain are his face
I proclaimed Rashid as total shit El Fuerte tier garbage the second I saw him.
It took until this beta to try him out and he's won me over. The dude is too fun. He feels really well balanced too. Very solid and a blast to use. By far the coolest v-trigger
Is it just me or is Nash kinda retarded?
Everything he does is so safe.
>play a Mika
>player is garbage, mashes buttons and does nothing but cross-up lk
>play a Karin
>does nothing but wait until she gets V-T and proceeds to gimmick me to death
>play a Chun
>mashes sweep and l mk for days
>play a Bison or Rashid
>actually knows how to play, has footsies, and understands how to utilize the character
What the fuck is this? I would never have expected Rashid of all characters to actually be smart. A little surprised at Bisons not wailing on the roundhouse button but I'm pretty sure it's not very good in V.
Bandwidth has precisely dick to do with connection quality, games use almost none, a few kb a second at max.
The issue is jitter, variance in the time it takes for packets to be received. Jitter can be caused by lost packets, queuing, QoS, and congestion.
If you are constantly having issues with teleporting in SFV the problem is likely on your end.
Play what you are comfortable with. If you think a stick will make you better, then you better be prepared to stick with it for a while. It's a matter of preference, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. That being said, a DS4 is sufficient. The d-pad is great.
He's a pretty no fun allowed character. They changed him so much from how he was in Alpha yet he's almost just as boring to use or fight
Just make sure you always poke him out of his leaping kicks. Anyone good won't use it for the most part, but to those who use it a lot it has no invincibility of any kind and you can just hit him out of it all day
Rashid is the kind of character only people good with him will use. He's like Viper in that regard. You will probably never see him outside of the occasional guy whose extremely strong with him.
He's unorthodox and doesn't make much sense at first glance. People in a beta where you can't even train without exploiting the system are going to be too afraid to use him unless they know what they are doing.
Im fucking up my execution with Necalli so I'm defintly going to work on that.
Im defiantly getting better at blocking but my predictions and teching throws are trash. How would i get better at this?
tweet it to capcom or ono or something. They love that kind of shit right now - free advertising and community involvement. Though lol at choice of bgm, wonder if they'll notice.
Preorder the game, fuccboi. You'll get a code.
Well, if he's playing it on the PS4, I'd assume that he'd use the DS4 for a pad, unless he buys one of those fightpads from MCZ. That being said, yeah, I agree with you. The DS3's d-pad is better.
If you're used to pad I would stick with that unless you really want to try stick. Remember, buying a stick won't make you magically better than of you were playing on pad, it's really just a matter of preference. Luffy won evo 2014 playing on a ps1 pad and Snakeeyez got 8th in last year's Capcom Cup. People like Wolfkrone and Smug also use pad and are successful in their own right.
>they buffed throws
>now they are back to SFIV and 3 levels of retardation where they just eat your moves completely
>you can see your normal out on the screen
>still get thrown
Whelp it was fun while it lasted
It's official folks
I hate Mika before the game is even out
>stupid good anti-airs
>retardedly fast grab
>normals that are plus on block
Sure why should you wait to press bottuns when everything you have is good and can counter-counterhits
i have never even actually got to hold a stick, just what little i played at arcades.
i feel like it could be fun playing on one, but a gamepad is all i've known so i'll probably stick with that because sticks aint cheap
That's pretty awesome, man.
if some of us send you gameplay, could you make a little montage of it? Like a whole dumb "warriors of /v/" thing just for fun
I heard some rumblings about capcom making PS3 sticks usable, but I can't remember if it had a solid source. I just got the RAP4 myself, and I'm liking it fine compared to the other sticks I've touched.
And for a projectile.
Ending blockstrings with psycho balls actually works. And EX psycho ball can even work as gimicky oki tool.
By the way, how is psycho inferno (vertical fire)? I still only use it in some V-trigger combos. Can I use it as meaty pressure tool?
>stupid good anti-airs
wat? c.MP is ok but it's got shit range and damage, EX wingless is ok but not a great use of meter
On what? s.HK has no armor
>Retardedly fast grab
She has the same grab speed as everyone else and her command grabs are slower than regular throws
That functions terribly as lockdown and is mostly used for damage
>normals that are plus on block
Every character has a blockstring
Maybe instead of mashing buttons and getting counterhit all day you should wait for her to whiff a normal and then punish
My main since SF2
He's shit now ;_;
I honestly feel like a retard. This is my first fighting game and I can't even hadoken. Like I've been trying to make a Z for an hour and shit doesn't work. Can you only do it on the special stick controllers or what?
Bison and Chun.
I started SFIV with Sakura and been dreaming about Karin and R.Mika in SFIV for years.
Now they are in SFV, and I'm not impressed with them. But Chun and Bison feel so awesome to play, I just can't believe it.
There are. It's just that the game's quick getup system completely kills the way the game works. It's just constant meaty normals into combo ender into run up into more meaty normals.
Something akin to Millia's top or specifically Leo's projectile would be Laura's projectile, but there are virtually no actual setups for it on oki. It's only useful in resets, for combo damage on a stunned opponent, and in the rare situation where you crush counter with a sweep
In the past 3 hours of playing I've seen
2 or so Birdies
2 or so Necallis
Is this more or less similar to everyone else's experiences?
>actually asking for shit like this in any game
Keep that anime garbage out of my proper fighters.
I FUCKING LOVE INFERNO HOLY SHIT IT'S THE MOST SATISFYING MOVE IN THE WHOLE FUCKING GAME
AND IT'S NOT EVEN A CHARGE MOVE
I like the move, it's a good pressure tool. I always go s.mp > c.mp > m.inferno
Along with his atomic suplex, second lariat, walk speed, massive HP, stun resistance, range on his normals, and all we got in return was an AA grab that gets beat out by everyone elses AA anyway
I lol'd but on the off chance you're serious just make a smooth motion from down to forward and press a punch button AFTER you hit forward. Take it slow, speed it up as necessary, etc.
You could always just play Necalli, though. I think he's the only charge character in the game at the moment.
It says a Z in the training thing? I can't find z pic but the icon is a "Z" and a fist, which I assume meant "top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right" for the analog stick and then square or triangle?
Started with Ryu in beta 1 to get a hang of the game
Rocked people with Mika when she was broken in wave 2
In wave 3 Mika got nerfed and Gief was introduced so I rocked people with him
Now Mika's got her midscreen reset back and Gief's been figured out so I'm back to Mika. I'll miss her corner reset mixup shenanigans but she's still great.
if someone else wants to tweet feel free. I usually get ignored when I tweet my trailers.
sure I guess, you can send info through my youtube account.. I'll have to see how much footage you guys give me to work with.
I FOUND IT!
sorry I mixed up I actually meant "shoryuken" which is the Z + fist. Yeah I can't get it how do I do the Z?
I can't tell if it will break or not after 3 moths because I only got mine on the beta 3, but it works right now, I really don't have to complain about it so go for it, it's just 80$ anyway
>Vega is no longer charge
>despite this he is encouraged even more than before to just sit around doing nothing but an occasional poke
>except now he doesn't have to hold charges and can immediately do huge damage off any poke
Fuck Vega in this game. Any time I get matched up against one I pull out a pillow and some melatonin
That's not a Z at all what the fuck
why didn't they just write what you wrote
You're an idiot. Changing Vega to a motion-based stance character is the best thing they've ever done for him.
Feel free to take that pillow and put it over your mouth until you stop breathing
Use claw if you feel like you can effectively footsie with your opponent.
Go clawless if you're getting rushed down or you want to be more aggressive and do the rushing down yourself
I really want to assume that the input lag isn't as big of a deal, but I ABSOLUTELY hate input lag, but I don't have a lot of money. Hell, my tax returns might be fucked because I haven't applied for health insurance.
Apparently, Capcom might be using the driver software that Skullgirls uses so you can use PS3 sticks, but I'm not sure.
It makes sense if you picture the motion you do with an arcade stick. You're pushing it forward from neutral position, then diagonally to down, then from down straight to down-forward.
But yeah, they really could have just used directional notations like in training mode.
What do you mean? People not going easy on you should be a blessing. That is, if they're actually good and know what they're doing. If they're doing the same stuff you are, then chances are you're doing something wrong.
Besides, expecting yourself to get easy wins all the time is a horrible mindset. You should always play to your level, not down to someone else's.
but there's no indication that the Z needs to be done in the bottom right of the stick space. I thought what they wanted was this
Right now i'm using a regular DS4 and winning a lot of matches, would using a stick make me that much better?
>I think there was also a thing where you could just slap down forward twice, but I might be imagining things.
You can. It's really for AAing jumpins and for auto corrects with dp since you doing it without standing,
This is my first Street fighter game and I seem to be doing consistently well with Cammy. Just simple pokes with mK and c.mK into spiral arrow, mixups and oki with hooligan combination, and tick throws.
I normally play anime air-dash fighters, but I'm actually having a great time now that I understand what I'm doing.
Bad matchmaking. Fighting games are notoriously bad at figuring out a way to match people of near equal skill with each other.
Once I broke 1000lp it meant that no matter who I use I'll be up against people placed in the top 1000 even in casuals. It's pretty shitty and it punishes you for using other characters
how do i into street fighter alpha 3?
how do you find moves without guides?
>normal, classic, this, that
>v ism, x ism , a ism, waifuism
what do i choose there is no explanation?
i can tell it is a good game though.
Get everything on a gaming PC.
Once you have a job just saveup when needed. These investments really are nothing even compared to getting some new clothes or eating out regularly.
I always laugh when /v/ complains about things like ps+. It shows how underage the general userbase is if they can't afford fifty a year to an extent to which it is nothing and clearly worth having if it means being able to play games online and shit.
I'll probably pick up an xbone in a year or two. They already go for three hundred now so it'll be worth it for the handful of exclusives just like the Wii U is.
That being said if you have any interest in Japanese games then no shit you fucked up getting an xbone.
I figured. I really want to get the stick and the game at the same time, but that's pretty much over $200. I might just say fuck it and buy one of those Hori Fighting Commander pads for $30. I'd rather have a stick, though.
Ah fair point anon, fair point. I didn't pick up on that.
if you're still learning the game, just go with A-ism or X-ism since it is the basic "double motion input for super art"
V-ism is completely broken though, enabling you to get into infinites and such.
If you can solder, you can pick sheap stick (any stick with Sanwa parts) AND get cheap pad with low input lag, and replace PCB of stick. Look up srk tech talk forums and "padhacking".
I've replaced PCBs in my last-gen sticks, one uses PS360+ (it's shit for PS4 though, only works for 8 minutes, but there is replacement coming soon called "Brook fightboard"). Another stick uses GG Xrd gamepad PCB and works great as well.
It's easy to do but you need at least some technical knowledge.
>Day One Steelbook
Do you automatically get this if you already pre-ordered or do I have to go back and change my purchase details?
>win 10 in a row
>lose to a laggy mashing ken
I dont mind losing to the better player but god damn if im not salty
But Laura is V's Dan according to UltraDavid.
Xbox has all the games I want to play though, I really want the Ps4 for SFV and maybe bloodborne, but other than that all the games I like (exclusives) are on the Xbone
How broke is Capcom? Graphics are such a letdown. Some character models look good but backgrounds are a mess. All those low-poly models cluttering it all up making it even worse. While it's true that graphics aren't that important, it would've still been nice to see an actual leap from SF4.
I'll be very surprised if Capcom really does implement the drivers with all of this new Madcatz gear rolling out. The announcement of older stick support would cut into sales. Shitty, but money is money.
Not as bad as some of the hate for Mika players. Just git gud and you'll take many people by surprise when they think you're a scrubby waifu player. Gonna be sticking with Mika until
At ease, loo-suh!hits.
>Zhenniao (Chinese: 鴆鳥; pinyin: zhènniǎo) or sometimes translated as Zhen or Poisonfeather Birds, is a name given to poisonous birds that is said to have existed in what is now present-day Southern China during ancient times and is referenced in many Chinese myths, annals and poetry. The Shanhaijing Chapter 5: Classic of the Mountains: Central describes the Zhen as resembling an eagle living in Girl's Tabletop Mountain, Lutemute Mountain and Jade Mountain in Southern China.
>As described in the Piya, from its very veins to the tips of its feathers, the Zhen's body is said to be tainted with an unparalleled poison referred to as Zhendu (Chinese: 鴆毒; pinyin: zhèndú) or Zhen poison. The Zhen's feathers were often dipped into liquor to create a poisonous draught that that was often used to carry out assassinations. Its meat however was said to be overtly toxic and gave off a gamy odor that rendered it inadequate for surreptitious use, and the Zhen's excrement could dissolve stone. The Zhen's poison was said to be so deadly that it needed only to pass through one's throat to kill a person. In the Baopuzi (Chinese: 抱朴子; pinyin: Bàopǔzǐ) by Taoist adept Ge Hong, the only thing that was said to be able to neutralize the Zhen's poison was the horn of Xiniu (犀牛) - or the rhinoceros. Xiniu horns would be made into hairpins and when used to stir poisonous concoctions would foam and neutralize the poison.
Literally like just build your own stick stop falling for the MCZ jewery
Street Fighter V beta 3
Zangief can body scrubs, but so can any character in the hands of someone that isn't mentally challenged.
As soon as Gief goes up against someone that knows how to play, its painfully obvious he has zero fucking options
What do you mean what setups.
Just jumping fierce and crossing-up just after he lands is a setup.
Laura has one of her over head that can in reset if used with a specific combo, i didn't play laura yet but I saw it somewhere on youtube.
Helping out the community.
Her f.HP isn't an overhead if I remember correctly. In other words it is almost useless since it's extremely punishable and there is no way to combo into it without having them stunned or somehow eating the first hit of her projectile and giving her enough time to do it
>playing without a stick
>im dropping everything
THE FUCK! WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
>Getting 1500 points playing nothing but Necalli
Granted almost everyone sucks, but it feels good to hit a decent amount of points with a shitty character.
His V-Trigger makes him do more damage (arguably he should do the same amount of damage without the V-Trigger) and it makes his dashes faster. You basically need to lose half your life before he turns into a good character.
>You basically need to lose half your life before he turns into a good character.
And you also lose V-reversal in V-trigger, this can fuck your shit up sometimes against chip super from blockstrings.
Yeah I'm starting to wonder if losing your V-Reversal is worth it. The increased dash speed doesn't really matter since his normals suck so you can't really put pressure on.
I'm also not too sure what his divekick is for.
>play against Rashid
>litteraly no posible, not conceivable way of punishing or passing through his fireball
>get timed out trying to figure out this puzzle
FUCK YOU RASHID!!!!!
yeah but you really have to predict his fireball in order to not get punished. Even Gief's v-trigger has to predict like a second before rashid does the fireball, otherwise your just whiffing the move, and wasting the bar.
From what I can tell all that matters in this game is if you have good MP/MK that can link into another meaty normal. Meaty normals are the best thing to do on opponent's wakeup and if you have strong pokes that are good for hitconfirms then you get huge damage constantly without much risk. All of those characters can do that, especially Karin.
>stuck at 1000pp with him
every time i think im doing good some faggot that knows what he is doing lets me kill myself
FOR THE LOVE OF DIO GIVE THE AZTEC MANLET SOME I-FRAMES ON HIS EX COMAND GRAB
Seriously, I've only found one use for his EX Command Grab. I'm trying to upload a Webm of it because I think it's actually pretty useful info for fellow Necalli players, but I'm new to this stuff.
>somebody at Capcom thought wasting an EX bar to do an 8 frame, 168 damage command grab with shit reach was sensible
Got two invites, but they're exclusive to third world monkeys such as myself. Reply with steam ID and
It's easier to cancel into CA because you're allowed to mash and not get a whiffed normal or something since you're buffering into another move.
Since practice mode is ass right now you should probably wait until the 16th and go practice getting specials down with input display on, I'd bet you're pressing too much shit.
Protip: To get longer training modes without having to do the record thing just set connections to 5 only and your platform only. That should significantly reduce the amount of matches you get and should give a more optimal experience when trying out your combos on a live person.
Help me I can't stop slamming fools. Might pick up Karin or Birdie in future, they look pretty fun.
>what am I supposed to bo against a zangief
>playing chun btw
But more seriously, as a Gief main, just fucking jump. Neutral jumps fuck over Gief pretty hard still
How is everyone enjoying having no lobbies and waiting 10 minutes to search for an opponer before losing to some laggy as fuck Nash?
>Use Booty Mika after playing my regulars
>Learn sum shit, think Wingless Airplane is a useless move
>First match with her against a Ryu
>Figure he'll throw a hado so why not try it out?
IT'S NOT USELESS AT ALL, HOLYSHITTHATWASAWESOME.
I can't figure out this webm shit so I just uploaded it to youtube. This is the only use I've found for his EX Command Grab and I don't even know if it's worth doing. It could be something that was already "discovered" too and found out to be shit, but I've never seen anyone else do it.
first japanese person i ever fought was a charlie
hehwho taunted me even though we had an alright connection and i wasn't doing too badly against
i wouldve beaten him too if i had known EX somersault had a second kick to it
> Hundreds of hours in SF4
> Sakura specialist
> No Sakura in SFV
> Everyone feels boring in comparison
I want to like SFV but I can't. I need Sakura. I need tatsu loops and combos that go on forever as long as you can hit 1/2f links ;_;
>175 hours just in Ultra alone
>played Gief exclusively with a little Dan and Blanka on the side for my entire SF 'career'
>Gief is boring as fuck in V and can't close the gap without the other person fucking up
That's what I'm also wondering. I've been doing it pretty consistently and the only time I get jabbed out of it is when I fuck up the timing. I tested it out a lot in training mode and it seems like it will always work if you get the timing right.
>trying to outfootsie Chun Lis with absurd lag as they throw constant fireballs
>only one lariat and they always dash forwards and sweep you down then dash back and go right back to fireballs
>Gief has no range on his normals and all of his attacks are slow as fuck
Just kill me now
I know how you feel.
Seems like people have figured this out and I can't do shit anymore, I've gone from 700 down to just under 400 since last night
Its not hard if you have shitty internet
>turn on some torrents
>become a god at SFV
>don't really use her overhead
>start fighting higher ranked Lauras
>they throw it out left and right
Am I missing something about it? I feel like it's easily reactable and really is only viable if you're right in their face... And then I feel like if it hits it leaves you at 0 and doesn't lead into anything, and if it's blocked you're negative 10000.
Seriously. Some angry internet diety keeps rolling me back. I'll hear the hit confirm sound effects but nope! Turns out they blocked it after all. Go to throw out a poke? JK, they had a roundhouse out the whole time!
Nash is really bad for this for some reason, I have never fought a Nash that didn't spend the whole match doing this all over the stage
God damn it why cant i just be bad at the game in peace instead of getting matched with people way better than I am. I just wanna learn with people as bad as I am, not get bodied by people way better than me constantly.
And then your rank updates and you start playing actual players.
That's what happened to me. I win streaked up to like 1000 and it had me as unranked the entire way. Then I quit and came back with an actual rank 8 hours later and now I'm losing more than I'm winning and hovering around 800.
overheads always feel reactable but in the heat of the moment they're just fast enough that they'll catch you while you're holding down back thinking you're safe. The telegraphy on overheads is much faster than a special and there's no real audio cue.
>playing agains some laura
>not a bad player
>actually pretty fun fight
>im in the cornor and he grabs me
>can see he is about to charege her firebal >wanna do EX shoryu
>it hits me
>i try again
>he is seriusly gonna do it again
>i try for the 3 time
IM SO MAD RIGHT NOW I COULD PUCH A HOLE IN THE WALL
Even when getting my shit pushed in by them I managed to block most of the overheads, especially the ones from outside sweep range. I just couldn't punish properly because I'm ass.
Maybe the only thing I'm good at is reactions and that's it.
This shit has been making me all sorts of salty. When I play people IRL, I can get my ass handed to me but I'm still ok with it. Hand shakes all around. But online? I don't know what it is but losing online makes me the saltiest fucker in the world.
I really struggle with how it only seems to display if a button hits, or is blocked. It just skips the animations entirely. It makes the whole game a guessing game, not to mention the dropped inputs. I am really not feeling this netcode.
You can jab then do a cross under afterwards. you can follow up with an overhead, a low hit, a grab or a command grab. I think it is a neat reset. A lot of characters seem to have ex moves that serve only to do resets.
>Blowing people up past ~1500 BP
>approach 2000 BP
>Suddenly everyone either DCs or is a regular at EVO
>Shot back down to ~1300
>Game decides I'm shit and sends me against other shitters.
>Back to square 1
