Discuss Dragon's Dogma.
Post pawns, strategies, gear, builds, tips, etc.
Is there anything you should be doing between post game and NG+ other than the actual quests?
>not playing as an unarmed strider/ranger/assassin
Not sure if I want my Arisen to go back to being a loli, being this big it just feels like I'm moving so slow.
>grabbed by another wolf
>hired pawns still can't be arsed to do anything
>Sorc MP flys to the rescue once more
I have no idea where he even picked up this habit but it's hilarious.
No. But i
f you're worried about min/maxing dont be. Play whatever class you want whenever you want because by the end game you'll have a pretty well-rounded character regardless of what classes you played.
You can go to bitterblack island whenever you want m8. I've heard the ideal start is 60. Me I went really early and got my ass kicked but still managed to walk away with some good loot. Now I'm grinding all the fucking time and hoping the gear that's purified is decent.
Head over there. You're missing out.
First time I've seen this nasty shit hanging from the Ur-Dragon's belly. I don't think this happened on consoles.
It's pretty neat desu
post sequel ideas/want to see
I wanna ask people to play with Sophee. Some level 85 sorcerer.
I'm considering just turning her back into a mage, since she seemed less likely to throw herself at an ogre's balls that way.
Rate, pls don't hate.
Sorcerer, Utilitarian, challenger, mitigator.
My arisen is a sorcerer, so she's well trained.
Digital art book for those interested.
This is what I came up with with paladining myself. I don't have it on to tell you what the armor pieces are though.
Quick tip for easy money. You will need the ability Master Thief, but other than that no level or story requirements.
Go to Bitterblack Isle and run or fight your way through to Midnight Helix. There is a cyclops chained on the wall in this room. Run up to him and use Master Thief. You will get 4 items worth slightly under 20,000 gold. Run back and exit the room. Repeat as necessary. There is also a low chance to steal Cursed Novelties and Gear which can turn out to be really useful items.
Pic related, me after farming the cyclops for about 10 minutes. No more need to run after every fallen coin pouch like some starving Indian slum child.
I'll be getting it within the next month, and I just got skyrim awhile ago (late to the party)
I think that Dragon's Dogma will be better, but I guess I'll see, but I hope you're right, I'm hyped to get it
You can get more money faster by doing Everfall and selling the wakestones that drop. FYI.
You shouldn't be using sanctuary anyway. Its a shitty augment.
Also, best way to dragonforge your shit is to bring rancid bait meats to duskmoon tower. Kill the wyvern that spawns there, wait for a few minutes to see if a cursed dragon comes. If it doesn't, drop a meat and kill the dragon, leave area, re-enter area. If the meat is still there dragon might spawn again. If you're too slow, drop another meat.
With zero enhancements theres a 40% chance for dragonforging from a cursed dragon. With 3 star its 75%. Statistically speaking, this means if you do at least three dragons you have a very high chance of dragonforging all your gear. This is post-daimon of course.
If the game was more like BBI, then for sure. I absolutely love the Souls feel BBI has going for, and I enjoy DD's combat over Souls.
Honestly, the open world of DD is the weakest part in my honest opinion family.
looks just like me/10
angry loli 7/10
10/10 she kinda looks like an older and bustier version of my pawn
>The wind was angry that day, my friends! Like an old Arisen trying to send back lolis in the rift. I got about fifty feet out and suddenly, the great beast appeared before me. I tell you he was ten stories high if he was a foot! As if sensing my presence, he let out a great bellow. I said, "STRIKE WHILE IT'S DISTRACTED!" And then, as I watched him struggling, I realized that aught was obstructing our damage. From where I was standing, I could see directly into the eye of the great Ogre.
Well, what did you do next?
>Well then, from out of nowhere, a huge flying beast lifted me, tossed me like Rook, and I found myself right on top of him - face to face with the eye. I could barely see from the lightning bolts crashing down upon me, but I knew something was there. So I reached for my warhammer, struck it with the pommel, and pulled it out!
>*Holds up Misshapen Eye
Bless you for making that Arisen and Pawn, anon
It's a tip directed towards new players or people who haven't progressed very far in the story. Everfall is endgame.
I was able to get that much money and I haven't even started the Wyrm Hunt quests yet.
>tfw nobody rents my pawn anymore after i stopped using the salvation robe
Pawn in the armor
I like being the little princess stats be damned
Okay, I'm doing another restart and, God willing it'll be the last restart for while, I'm making my main pawn right now and I can't decide on making her brown or white. My Arisen is tall and brown, I want them both to be tall and Amazon looking but can't decide on skin color.
So I just beat Grigori and restarted in hard mode after getting my dragonforged equipment and dragon weapons.
I played strider->ranger the whole way through to level 41, and right now I'm just levelling the fighter vocation against goblins to get Sinew and then I plan to rush through NG+ with Assassin for the strength gain
My real objective is to get to the BBI content, but I get the feeling it might have been faster to just grind through the everfall first as pure Ranger before tackling it.
What would you say are the best classes for pawns? I have this paladin pawn that I'd like to do melee but it'd be nice to have a ranged fucker too. Why again can't we have hybrid classes on pawns again? I'd love to have an assassin pawn.
So basically she was a warrior a bit, a fighter mostly, and a mage some but I don't know what to think about it.
Daggers/Shield Assassins is pretty damn fun when you buff yourself with Gale Harness and then rip your ennemy to shreds with Thousand Cuts
>15 hires a day when my amazon was a fighter
>1 a day when she became a warrior
Do people not like warrior pawns or did the player count drop significantly?
Where can I buy a sword that does magic damage instead of phys? Vendor at Gran Soren doesn't have it, Black Hat doesn't sell it, I switched from lvl 18 Sorcerer to Mystic Knight and all my growths have been in magic. If there's no such option, perhaps I should go Warrior for some 20 levels so I can have high enough STR later on. I like to optimize the build somewhat.
I was also thinking of going Ranger for a while to get stamina augment.
>Stats be damned
Queen's clothing has pretty damn good stats if you enhance it. I got lucky and the drake dragonforged it too, something like 60% striking and piercing resist and stagger and knockdown resist too.
>someone rented my warrior against Ur-Dragon
>"Was our finest warrior!"
Guess all that 4 Warrior hit squad runs did the trick.
You do know there is no difference between the difficulty of BBI on Hard or Easy right?
BBI has it's own difficulty setting that you cannot change.
What do you think? Minus hairstyle, I'll change it before finishing.
Use blast arrows to chain stun the bishop once the dragon is back dead. Unless you don't have bow option then get a sorceror pawn with maelstrom, it will fuck the bishop pretty damn fast.
What makes you think this thread is specifically about dragon's dogma PC? Do you see such in the title? It's about the game regardless of what it's on. But yeah the console edition's pretty rough, but I don't want to abandon a 90h save file.
This early in the game go get Almace in Soulflayer.
To reach the underground level you must go down near (4).
Even If you're not far in the main quest, once you fetch Reynard the first and second items he asks for you can buy a fire sword and then a better lightning sword from him.
If you're willing to dungeon-dive in places you shouldn't be yet and savescum chest loot, you can get an even better ice sword.
Mystic Knight build;
>Starting Vocation: Fighter
>Augments: Sinew, Bastion, Awareness, Adamance, Restoration, Sanctuary
Start as a fighter and play until you unlock Sinew then play as a MK for the rest of the game, decent stamina and magic damage also with this build it's really hard to die
I like her, couldn't do much better with the limited face creation
tfw this is the fourth snake ive seen so far
The atmosphere reminds me of fantasy animes from the late 80's and early 90's. I like that, it's not presented often enough in this medium, or maybe its just the difference in east and west design philosophies. At first I thought it was just the pawn system, but I'm loving the armors and weapons. Fuck if I can figure it out.
>yfw pawns pick up wild animals you throw at them and throw them back at you
So i got to Daimon at the skin of my teeth, had a few deaths but nothing seemed impossible when both of my sorceress casted high frigor.
But now i really don't know how to beat this guy he's flying all over the place and taking little damage.
I'm a 72 assassin with ascalon and that lava bow.
>Couldn't do better
Then how come there's tons of great faces people use?
Don't blame the CC, it's one of the better ones out there and one of the easiest to get good looking people on.
>with a wide nose
>huge fucking neck
>and male hairline
Just admit you're gay and remove the titties, that tranny mutant is unsettling.
I'm not sure I should be fighting this guy yet... I'm doing fuck all damage to him and his tentacles
I'm level 61
>Just beat the game
>This terrible, ugly, dark as fuck sky that makes it hard as shit to see
Does it ever fucking go away? I don't like this.
>tfw you're strong enough to kill 2 wyverns and 3 eliminators at the same time
Assuming you are on Daimon 1.0...
Climb up to his face and whack him.
You will probably get fucking pummeled when he decides to fly up and crash into the floor. Stay on his back. When he lights himself on fire jump up right before it flares then grab him again on the way down.
Given you're level 72...you will probably do chip damage for the entirety of the fight. Assuming you get 3 hearts down, his vortex will fuck all your pawns and probably you. Use liquid vim, climb to his head and hope you can stagger him out of it before all three of your pawns are banished. This is also where you should use conqueror periapts.
If you don't have liquid vim or peraipts on you...then you should just die, retry, and ferrystone out because you ain't gonna kill him.
Just beat the final main quest, and while I know it's not the end of the game, it was a lot of fun.
I'm not sure what exactly a magic archer would look like, but I think my guy fits it.
Shit is selling well niggas. 200k copies. We gotta get that sequel going
I propose two new base classes
Support spells and holy missiles, support summons like wards and turrets
>Priest + Fighter = Paladin
Make Mystic Knight more elements based, give this the holy enhancement spells, shields attacks etc.
>Priest + Mage = Wizard
Bigger holy missiles, a2g shit, mines, etc., immunity barriers
>Priest + Strider = Monk
Unarmed shit you already know
>Priest + Priest = Saint
Godly summons angels and demons and shit to hit hard and protect you
>Priest + Tribal = Pagan
Demonic tinged evil shadow magics
Spears- enough said
>Tribal + Fighter = Champion
Dual wielding one handed weapons
>Tribal + Mage = Shaman
Elemental magics but with a rougher usage
>Tribal + Strider = Scout
Slingshots daggers blowguns and stealth
>Tribal + Tribal = Beast Master
You can go through the game solo, in fact one of the classes gets buffs for playing solo (Assassin)
But it'll be somewhat difficult as certain enemies have grabs that need allies to break you free, and it'll be harder to take advantage of elemental weaknesses, also you'll have less overall carrying capacity.
Overall nothing you can't deal with in some way, just keep those in mind.
Eliminators are piss easy when you learn they are super weak to lightning, and semi-weak to frost. Especially as an MK who came with a lightning trance.
Getting them to charge over a cliff to their death is hilarious. I feel like a bullfighter every time
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for where to get some good armor post game?
I've been using this armor set (minus 1 or 2 pieces that I found right before the fight with The Dragon) since level 40 or so, and I am level ~55 now.
Here's my pawn's face. I don't think it's that bad and it wasn't that hard to make. I think I also just used face shape 1.
Wow dude no need to get so mad just because you have an ugly pawn. It's only 10k RC to change her face at any point as many times as you like, although with her appearance as is, it may be hard to get enough rents to make 10k RC.
I've been playing Magic Archer for most of the game, but I kind of want to switch it up.
Is MK any fun?
Keep running through BBI getting levels and hope tier 2 or 3 weapon/armor drops and that it isn't useless shit like the fucking gransys greatsword.
If you're strong enough, go smack around the gorecyclops in the big tower room. Alternatively, farm cursed dragons in duskmoon tower with rancid bait meat.
Or just run through the hardest areas you can repeatedly (rest 3 days in between trips to get chests to respawn).
BBI isn't something that you can just run through and beat in one go.
God help you when you get to Daimon 2.0. I'm level 100 with multiple tier 3 and 2 pieces and I'm still farming to try and beat his dumb ass.
Its mostly because I have yet to find a mace or one handed sword BBI weapon and I'm a MK. Fucking god damnit.
I might if the game had more to explore. Post game seems to be revisiting the same 6 areas with slightly different layouts and it's disppointing as fuck since the rest of the game largely avoids it. Even the dlc seems to be largely doing the same bullshit, it's just also everything is unkillable.
Have your pick, any you like!
What will it be today?
Wait people are struggling on Diamon 1.0?
Beat him on level 60 just stabbing him in the face and he never knocked me off, never really got to doing much because he was pretty much stunlocked by maelstrom.
In fact he hit me once the entire fight, knocking me off him when he had literally a single hit left on his health.
Mystic Knight with barbed nails and Ruinous Sigil rapes BBI bad. Spamming it in corridors can literally juggle enemies to the point where they'll never touch you. It doesn't help that it casts so damn fast. Way more damage then GC spam, IMO.
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Yes but since you were a magick archer you have absolutely fucking zero strength so you'll be relegated to great cannon spamming. Also since you were magick archer you have no defense so you'll die the instant something looks at you. If you already have at least BBI tier 2 gears for your MK then ignore those warnings.
>cross river and get ambushed by a buch of invisible lizards
>running through catacombs with about 70 status ailments I don't understand
>jugging random potions in hopes it will fix it
>lost my lantern so I'm blind as fuck
>Doing that Sumone page quest
>Her fucking walk speed
Should have just skipped this like every other time
Actually I just did, planning on going to farm gold to buy those weapons since I'm short.
Depends largely on what class you are. If you're a melee class then yes you can have trouble with him at lower levels. If you're assassin or a magic class then no.
Also greatly depends on your pawns. If they are good pawns then you'll curbstomp daimon 1.0. If they are just mediocre or bad (as the vast vast majority of pawns are) they'll do fuck all and not stagger him at all.
What's a good munchkin sorceror pawn build? I'm going full autism with the stat planning this time around and I'm trying to make a sorceror who can nuke with the best of them but that I won't have to babysit the whole time.
I've started him off as Fighter for 1-10 because Mage stat growths seem weak to me, and now I've changed him to a Sorceror immediately. My plan was 10 Fighter/40 Strider/50 Sorceror.
Also, what inclinations will help out most? I was thinking Utilitarian/Challenger/Mitigator.
Reminder that any class with any kind of bow or daggers is immediately more fun than anything else.
>no one has rented my pawn since the whole time ive been playing
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT I THOUGHT I MADE A QT BROWN ELF WHY WONT YOU FAGGOTS RENT MY PAWN
Pretty sure I had a pawn from a hacker at some point, was a level 60 pawn with dragonforged highest tier best random upgrade armor and weapon and when I refreshed her at level 80 less two days later she was level 200.
Mage pawn with only healing spells and shit at combat in general though.
Only around Cassardis and Gran Soren. A couple bosses got changed to bigger ones. You can still find brown wolves all over the place.
Make her head bigger, or make her body smaller.
>Returning from running into Soulflayer Canyon and getting lost then ambushed by fucking ghosts everywhere
>Making a mad dash down the mountain past the man-hating bitches
>Make it to the river with Sulfer Saurians
>Pawns keep fucking fighting them when trying to run
>Main pawn falls
>Never had pawn fall before so I forgot they just respawn at the next time you try to visit the Rift
>Grab her and haul ass
>IT'S A CHIMERA ARISEN!
>Chimera spawn in the forest rapes my poor ass overburdened ass with no healing items and only 200 HP
>run around like some fairy until he spawns the 4 tentacles or starts shooting them out of the ground
>if the former, kill them and hit the thing
>latter, get under him, hit him after he pokes hit own eye out
or just climb onto the huge obvious weak point and hit it until he dies
Smack the heart.
Stand directly under the heart and you're immune to every attack except when they jump up and slam down again, which is easy to predict and avoid.
When he rears up to do super breath run behind him.
When he jumps in the air and stays there, determine if he is focusing on you. If so, stay still until he starts casting his breath then run directly underneath him and bash his tail. If he's focusing on a pawn then do the same but without waiting.
Alternatively, git gud and learn to perfect block.
Cursed dragons and death are things you save until after level 100s anon, same with condemned gorecyclopses, even with dragonforged dragon weapons you'll not do more than 1 damage/hit to those fuckers.
Nah man,I started BBI around level 15 .You just have to be patient and play smart. Got a sweet ass weapon and shield and killed Gazer at lvl 35. That was the most fun fight in any game ever, probably because I only used melee.
Get rid of scather and replace it with mendicant.
Equip her with Legions Might (buy from black cat). This makes her constantly revive herself.
Equip her only with support spells. Anodyne, weapon enchantments, spellscreen, Halidom, ect.
Train her to jump out of the way of attacks
Give her BBI gear (besides legions might).
Bingo, one good mage pawn.
Hire my Scather / mitigator pawn. She'll do ya good.
Well fuck, I have no one to blame but myself. I only ever hire Mages and sorcs.
>mfw I'm part of the problem
I did. Did I make my Arisens head big enough?
>pawn has 4 secret softeners
>Am to become a living statue?
>Do we have a remedy for petrification?
How exactly does one train a pawn to jump out of the way of things?
More importantly how do I make my pawn stop. She keeps interrupting her own spellcasts to dodge attacks that aren't even about to hit her and it fucking sucks.
>mfw all I ever hire are Fighters and Warriors.
Magick Archer and Ranger pawn reporting in.
>need to change pawns
>looking for a ranger and a support mage
>pick ranger right away
>30 minutes to 1 hr of diving through the rift to find a mage with a perfect spell combination
You switch to the same vocation as the pawn and when something attacks you, you fucking dodge it.
If you're a mage or sorc, this is usually via jumping.
You can train fighters to block and strider/rangers to dodge too.
>hire someone's mage pawn
>run across goblin
>"It's weak to fire!"
>gives me holy weapon enchant
Why does this keep happening?
What level of Sorc do you start getting some of the cooler spells? Im only level 3 in the vocation but im just kinda wondering how long till im no longer just spamming the basic spells i got as a mage.
>mfw hiring fighters and warriors mostly because I feel bad for them
I have a fighter pawn, and it sucks not ever having rents. I have like 20 hours in this game and 2 hires.
>Loli sorc gets trampled by a manticore
>Demon dog drags her away to have his way with her while the lich casts an instant death spell on her
>Camera zooms in to let me know to save her
>I've learned of beasts!
I mean I'm just kind of dubious here, I've never been the same vocation as my sorc pawn and while I don't get hit much she's just been jumping away from shit like they have cooties at the worst possible times only to get hit square in the face by attacks that are actually aimed at her.
>I swear to fuck i'm going to throw her off a ledge
>HOW ABOUT A RACE PAGE?
>she starts running like a retard
>i'm just standing back with my blades in my face
to her it might have looked like a blur.
Did one of you faggots hire this pawn?
I got 30k+ RC, 5 star rating in everything, a fuckload of pawn knowledge on EVERYTHING, as well as tier 2 knowledge on The Dragon (Grigori), and my gift was a fucking pumpkin.
I know it was one of you cunts.
Also, if somebody with the Steam ID of Lucifronsun is here, fuck you. I lost my shit when I saw your pawn you piece of shit.
>Fight drake for literally an hour as a level 15 arisen
>Mage has frost enchantment
>Never casts it despite my spamming the "help" command
>Just runs around using staff attacks
The rage was real.
>Make pawn based on me
>In love with my Arisen
>Fear I'm gonna get cucked
>In the end I cuck my arisen as herself
>find perfect spells on mage
>tfw my pawn's a utilitarian and uses curatives like it's going out of style
>82 hours played
>time to restart and minmax the fuck out of myself and my waifu
Are these inclinations good for a warrior? All I know is guardian is bad
Speaking of Magic Archer. Ive been thinking of trying that vocation out. But ive been a Mage/Sorcerer the whole game. Am i gonna be a shitty one if i swap to it now?
I would hate to switch and try out a vocation and not really get to enjoy it fully cause my stats are poor.
I'm planning on doing a NG+ because I missed a bunch of quests early on and completely missed out on getting good gear from the weapon vendor because I didn't play nice with the stupid brat from that babysitting quest.
>nexus (the fuck is nexus)
Scather is never good.
If there's adds, you want your pawns to kill them while you distract the boss, if there's no adds the pawns will go for them anyway so Scather isn't needed. Also pretty sure it makes them more prone to climbing which is bad for a tank, as they won't be distracting the boss meaning they tend to go stomp on sorcs instead.
She's as pure as the driven snow. Except that one time she fucked the dukes wife in prison.
>fighting an armored ogre
>wizard keeps stunning it so I can't get the helm off and hit it in the eye
>trolls keep running off ledges so I can't upgrade my armor
>manticore always roars to interrupt my spellcasts when 1 second from finishing
>pheonix keeps freezing my pawns
>jack the reaper keeps killing my pawns
>fighting the thing, archer won't target his weak points
>the centaurs keep launching me off ledges
>soldier has no ranged attacks to hit the leech when he's not in his pet lizard
>mage refuses to use fire buffs when fighting the eagle
i made aged my loli pawn to a respectable age.
My Arisen, leveling my way through all the vocations, Assassin is next.
I'm not sure anyone's done extensive testing of it, but it's definitely heavily based on STR if not entirely. It also deals physical damage that still counts as fire.
A pure strength MA using immolation and thousand cuts is probably the most damage an MA can output.
You get more magic power with each level being sorc, and magic archer benefits a lot from it but it's not really important, you can swap to whatever you want so don't worry too much unless you want to min/max full autism.
I was mage until lvl 20, sorc until 60 and magic archer until 200, had no problems until the strongest boss of the game (paying on hard).
>Difference between having 800str/ 200mag and having retarded stats for your class
No anon, you're just so shit at it that you can't have it make a difference, differences can be fucking huge.
Yeah, but a couple things.
-Elixers only increase the pawns tendency towards those attributes, it doesn't replace them. So if they're at 50 points of medicant and the elixer increases challenger by 20 points, medicant will still be on top. Just buy one, check, buy another, etc etc.
-You drink the elixer, not the pawn, took me so long to realize.
Nexus means she'll focus on reviving other pawns, so she'll stop whatever she's doing the moment a pawn dies to attempt and bring it over to you so you can revive it.
This can be useful because you won't need to stop what you're doing do go revive a pawn, but only if it's on something like a mage or a ranger, though it's still one of the bad inclinations.
Looks like my arisen but grown up
Get the elixir that neutralizes all the inclinations, then give them the one you want as your tertiary, the one you want as you secondary, and two that you want as your primary in that order
>tfw been wearing nearly the same armor since level 25 and it's better than stuff I've come across after passing through Stage 6
Where can I get better looking / better stat armor (for yellow classes)?
That is fucking awesome I have to say.
I just want her to max out Mage and then I was going to try Sorc, you say Fighter is a good thing for a while? ~How many levels?
It IS pointless. There is no content in the game that needs minmax. everything is easily killed with normal stat growth.
I guess some autists like this kind of shit instead of, you know, having fun with the vocations you like
What's a good pawn for a M-Archer? I'm thinking Fighter or Warrior but I'm wondering if I should get an easier to train Mage instead.
honestly I just dont know what to do for its appearance
Neutralizing elixirs also wipe out any non-inclination behaviors they've learned. So if they're not fucking up in that department, it's very bad. It's usually easier to just purge other inclinations by alternating between potions for ones you want.
Warrior pawns can be great tanks if they're trained to fuck shit up on sight, keeps heat off of the whole party
Warrior is a correct choice.
