I just beat it.
Can someone explain why /v/ hates this game?
Mostly just the casuals who couldn't deal with the increased difficulty in LA.
I enjoyed it a lot. Only major complaint is that shotguns are mostly useless unless you're 5 feet away from your target, at which point brawling can do just as much damage or more.
>Can someone explain why /v/ hates this game?
>Hurr durr we hate vydia
>hurr durr spiritual successor
and other memes
I though it was pretty good. Not perfect, but i enjoyed it
Custom operator waifus is why I picked up this game.
It did not disappoint.
A bunch of people made meme teams and then got their asses handed to them when they're Wreslemania Post-Apoc-the-Rock Showdown teams made of all melee builds got fucked in the ass, complaniend "Well, it's not like Fallout 1+2" and then ragequit
I don't actually think /v/ hated the game on release. It was just crowded out by a lot of other releases.
When the Directors Cut came out that really made a good game great; most people who cared had already moved on.
At this point it's just fading into obscurity, which is a shame because its the closest we'll get to a sequel to the gameplay in Fallout 1+2.
I know wasteland was the inspiration for fallout, sue me.
To be fair, the game does have the tendency to fuck you over if you don't build your squad just right, and the dump stats aren't all that clear at the start.
Of course, once you get the hang of it, it's satisfying as fuck.
I don't get this, because I enjoyed WL2 for the combat. That was prevalent throughout the whole game. Other than
honey badgers, enemies scaled pretty well with you early game.
It might be an issue that this game offers natural barriers through difficulty. Yes you CAN walk to the other side of the Arizona desert, but if you've just started you probably won't survive the trip.
Just asign every person two or three skills to focus on. It helps to know what companions you'll pick up later in game, but if not that's okay. Just don't make four people with lockpick skill, you know? You should be fine.
Here are a few more tips:
Also one thing about skills. You want at least two people to have one level in Surgeon. Medic is used to heal, but Surgeon is used to revive in combat. You may have a companion focus on that skill, but you should have a second one put a point into it in case your Surgeon goes down, you can have a second person with the ability to revive people.
Also there's a few more operator waifus in the link here >>324324220 if you need more portraits.
>Yes you CAN walk to the other side of the Arizona desert
But you can't because of all the radiation.
I found the game too long (it seems designed for replayability, and I feel like I could do half a dozen runs of both the desert and LA, but having to do the whole lot each time round is too much), the main story too boring, and each location too self-contained. The Red Skorpions, religious group, and cyborgs sort of show up as antagonists then disappear. The train tribals I can't remember at all, and there's a bunch of zealots with a nuclear payload that nobody seems to care about.
To top it off, combat was boring because each random encounter had one of three map layouts and you had to reach the other side of the map to flee (Fallout 1 and 2 had the same issue but you could leg it and take minimal damage), and the animations and sound design made the combat aesthetically flat.
Once I hit LA I just rushed the main story to finish it. It had some stellar writing and it's cool to see stats being used for world exploration (although it's mostly just for extra loot), but that wasn't enough to carry the game.
Pepe Silvia for that mysterious stranger thing
>why are people posting pics of WL2 and not WL2 DC?
Because the vast majority of people who made screencaps did it before DC came out and never bothered to do shots of the update.
If you're gonna be an anime at least do it right
It's just boring, it's all been done before more or less. I was extremely disappointed by the size of the maps too, it was 2015 when they released it, they should be capable of making areas much, much, much bigger than their 90s counterpart. It didn't feel new or unique, more or less just a sum of it's counterparts
waifus with raifus make for best ranger teams.
Kongou nails almost every shot I swear to god
