I haven't paid much attention to this gdq, but the guy playing through Lagoon was pretty good and informatively entertaining. The game is very slowly paced when he's just making his way around, but he's mostly playing high risk against random chance and with low level health.

Also a good portion of the Awful Games block was entertaining. Hell, it wasn't just because of the shitty games, but the runs in said games were really good.

Watched trihex's after event stream last night.

He seems pretty disenchanted with speedrunning overall thanks to his new girlfriend. He also echos the sentiments here that the event seems to be losing its charm and fun.

This marathon was distinctly less fun for me as well, likely because TASbot sucked dick, and there were no amazing displays of skill like tetris last summer.

Mario Maker was pretty good, some of the awful games especially Lagoon and Escape from Atlantis were OK.
The Stepmania run was pretty incredible, although it didn't quite reach the level of Tetris because it's difficult to get a sense for how difficult Stepmania really is without playing it.
The Secret of Mana / Goof Troop 1p2c runs were pretty fun to watch, as was the Super Metroid 2p1c run.
The Kaizo Mario 3 run was my favorite.

The Star Fox 64 race was kind-of a letdown because it was basically just constant boosting and little else, plus one of the runners was a bit snobbish, not enough to be Crash 2 entertaining, just off-putting.
Quite a few of the runs had serious chokes and back-up saves had to be used, like Zelda 1, Half-Life 2, Castlevania SOTN and Super Metroid RBO, it's understandable that this is difficult stuff but it's still disappointing.
I was looking forward to the Talos Principle run and it was mostly just a straightforward break of nearly every level, kind-of boring. Same with DKC2 102%, it's just not the same without the crazy wrong-warps.
