Can we agree that this was best game in entire series?
yes it was.
if only H4 was as good.
H5 sucks donkey shit and that map generator sucks so much, you can't even adjust water segments and the graphics are shit.
H6 is okay but I could do without DRM from Ubisoft
excited about H7.
everything is a meme nowadays, anon and people like significant and outstandig sujets in video games.
isthe best game of all time
>have a favourite game
2016 /v/ everyone
Heroes of M&M battlefield always looked like up to 15 creatures with numbers below them, with those numbers "representing" the number of actual creatures.
Would it be possible to mod some Total War game into Heroes, so that I can see how that battlefield would actually look like?
Whats your fav faction /v/? Fortress is muh nigga
It's about playing skeletons, what can be better than that.
>III is the best!
>while V is shit
>also actually complementing VI and VII
Enjoy your III because there never be any game after VII.
Even when there would be an VIII, you fags will never like it if there will be at least a pixel of difference from III.
V was the series best last try to actually sell the game to its fans.
>Can we agree that this was best game in entire series?
I think thats one of the only things /v/ can actually agree upon
Who /Grindan/ here
Are there any other games like this I can play?
I actually loathe the combat part of it, exploring, getting items and treasure in itself is so much more rewarding.
The aesthetics of this game is god-tier too.
Necro is obviously the most fun (and best, besides maybe Conflux).
Other than that, Castle is a really bruiser town that can really smash enemy armies. Stronghold can rush behemoths and has a generally strong army all around IMO.
I've heard people say dungeon is really good too, but i've basically only really played Necro, Castle, Rampart, and Stronghold.
4. Yes, I am aware that it has very little in common with other games but I think if they pushed in that direction even further, we could have gotten something cool. It's still good - but it isn't really here or there and it's understandable why people who love 3 would hate it.
Holy christ that image is hilarious, Zydar's face really sums it up perfectly.
Even if playing a not-worthless town (Christ inferno is so shit), that start would be cause for a restart day one. Are those cyclopses guarding the spell power tower? Probably a horde of master gremlins in front of the ore pit and lumber mill too.
Heroes 4 had good ideas, like the whole class system and actually usable heroes, but also just as many bad ones.
4 IMO has fundamentally broken mechanics that literally ruin the game.
For example, retaliations are concurrent. Meaning, the enemy retaliates as a full-strength unit before it loses units from your attack. Completely negates the attackers advantage and therefore the incentive to take the offensive, and therefore takes out a huge part of what made Heroes 3 combat interesting. If you have played any amount of heroes 3 you are already balking at how dumb of a change that is.
This is not the only example of major fuck-ups, but a shining example of how little thought or care went into it. The combat map is fucking weird, the units are ugly and don't fit with the towns, it's ugly.
4 is really fucked up, not worth playing at all.
To me it's V. I just really liked that game. The city view, the units, story, everything.
Plus that patch that made you play the basegame and the first add-on in TotE, was great.
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Also little stuff like fluff text about artifacts and stuff you find, details and bits of worldbuilding.
Shame they screwed up the core of the game.
I could never really get into III, even though I first played it when it came out. Playing through the campaign the maps felt too large, you ran around for 3 hours before you even met the computer.
V dragged me in more, and it's my favorite entry in the series.
if there's one problem with 3 it's that the campaigns are too strenuous, long, and unengaging for new players.
it's more fun to load up some random small scenarios and duke it out with the computer, or play hotseat with a friend.
If only that were true for when I play the game. In Birth of a Barbarian those fuckers invade during the first week with hordes of units and a proficiency in meteor shower that decimates my entire "army"
Start with V, it has the typical strategy game campaign where you get one or two new units a map, early maps are fairly small and you get most of the important things spoonfed for you.
Once you know the basics you can try III. Stay away from 6 and 7, while they are newbie friendly they are also really shit.
Why do you think HoMM3 was so popular here?
Is it because of our
I've been playing Heroes 3 since it came out and just now (literally these days) I'm playing the campaigns seriously.
And they're a shitload of fun once you know how to exploit the game, but yeah, pretty hardcore unless you do so.
How can you guys not play the campaign first? Or at all?
I don't think I've ever started playing a strategy game and jumped straight into skirmish first. It just feels wrong.
