Getting my shit wrecked with foglets, downers, etc. I am barely at level 6 but I am just not "getting it"...

Against humans it seems fairly straight forward and I am able to deflect/parry most attacks and counter attack nicely, but there still seems like there is some sort of latency to the counter/parry system. On screen with more than 3 enemys i'm just rolling around and quick attacks.

In comparison to other major releases in the past 5-10 years, I appreciate that TW3 doesnt treat the player like a dipshit console babby with cliche' story lines/fetchquests etc. The lore is pretty deep and the game itself is very meticulous in nature, there are some minor flaws imo, none that make the game unplayable.

all this hype and overpraising just kind of sets you up for kind of a letdown, i'd give it a solid 8/10

First time I played The Witcher 2, I was so paranoid about the dangers of the forests surrounding Flotsam (even though there were elven watchposts and watchways) that I felt I needed to help defend it, especially since nekkers and endregas spawn so close to the town borders.

I initially disarmed and stole a bunch of traps that were laying about en masse, but I eventually re-armed and replanted them all over each path leading to town from the forest side... fearing an imminent attack from monsters.

It was comfy and spooky as fuck, straddling the border of the town at night keeping watch with whatever few nightwatch guards there were.

Just one of the things that make me love this game.

I loved carrying a torch and just staying near the lit areas/nightguardsmen patrols at night, maybe venturing out from one scattered settlement to another if I felt well prepared to make the journey.

I wouldn't even know what it would feel like to be an NPC who lived in that village being in constant fear of monster attacks at night.

If you are going light then go cat but what >>324297653 says is true. Cat is godlike when you have full red mutagens/bleeds/crits. You just kill everything in like one or two shots which might not be fun.

Is it actually possible to play the game without putting any points into the combat tree?
Like on my playthrough I went 80% in combat, 20% in signs, nothing in alchemy.

I wonder what a 100% alchemy build looks like and how you fight with that sort of thing.

You can't imagine my delight when that tavern master in Skellige actually answered to the effect of "fuck yeah, I'm always down for Gwent". Really wouldn't have hurt if they had mixed in a few responses to Geralt's question for a round of cards.
