Are you going to buy Resident Evil 0 HD?
It comes out in a couple days
what exactly is wesker mode? I saw a video of wesker killing enemies with mind powers.
Is that all it is? play the story as wesker with an overpowered infinite ammo weapon?
>tfw digital edition with just RE0 comes out tomorrow
>disc edition with RE1 and RE0 come out four days later
>hating on revelations
I'll cut you.
>not owning a GC
GC games skyrocketed in price, especially first print exclusives like Zero
Revelations 1 and 2 are both great. 6 is honestly a pretty good game and has a lot of content but obviously was not the horror game fans were expecting. Of all the games post-4, 5 is the only one I'd say is bad, since it's just a carbon-copy of 4 with no more thought put into it.
No, it's good, but it's obviously not a game for you if you only want pure survival horror.
I've never played operation raccoon city, I can imagine the game at least has some sort of fan-service that might make it worthwhile
thing is with 4 is that capcom almost became selfaware that they were writing b-movie characters and went too far. thats why i cant play 4 as much as the earlier games.
hate what they did with the characters past and including 4
>stock market crash
Probably. If not I'll pick up REmake HD and after beating that multiple times jump into Zero.
Haven't played it since beating in on the Gamecube years ago so it'll probably be fun to jump back into the blacksheep of the classic RE's.
I dont know how to feel about the revelations games. They are alright. Why'd they take away all gun upgrades/curreny/store. The perk shit is lame as fuck. Same goes for RE6, the 'pick 3 perks' makes it even shitter than it already is.
I really wish revelations werent handheld games too... :'(
Wait, you're telling me my copy of RE0 is actually worth something? I hate RE0 - not that it's that bad, I just find it such a pain in the ass to play compared to the others in the series.
Honestly though, I'm getting tired of these discussions - we always have them.
It is also appearant that everyone who hangs in these threads LOVE Resident Evil - just in different ways.
Let's talk about Resident Evil 0 instead. Been years since I played it. I remember liking it and I remember my friends hating them because they had mostly test-subject-animals as enemies.
Leech Zombies genuinely scared me because of the music that plays when they appear and they always jump out from some place outside of the camera, really effective.
Then I accidently got eaten by a frog (Lurker) which is really hard to do because they are normally shiteasy to avoid, but it happened and the death scene was fucking horrorfying for some reason.
What are your memories from the game?
Even tho revelations 2 was not a handheld game it still felt alot like one. why did it feel and look that way. You know what I mean? it still looked and felt like I was playing a handheld game.
I still haven't finished Resident Evil HD. I'd have to start over because I totally forget where I've been and where everything is I need to look and everything. So I probably will never finish it which means I'll never play 0. I've played through 0 3 times already anyway. It's a great game.
Never played 0 since it was GC exclusive so this will be my first encounter with it. I'm a huge fan of the classic REs, and I hear 0 changes that format slightly, so I'm excited to play it on Tuesday.
(cont) I think I'm gonna have a better time playing this game now since Revelations 2 kinda trained my dual character-wielding abilities. At least I think I'm in a better mindset for it this time.
0 didn't have any safe-boxes did it?
Pre-ordered it digitally for PS4, but the unlock thing is beyond silly. Like, the game actually downloads but you can't play it until the day it launches which is fucking retarded I think.
Might actually get around to finishing it this time.
I agree RE6 is very polished, looks pretty, runs great, characters are pretty good.
But its so incredibly linear, 1000x more focus on cinematic shit, got the dumbass 'pick 3 perks' system, controls pretty awkwardly.
they generally have really good atmospheres meanwhile as it balances the game controls from RE4 with added vulnerability to the characters - it is very easy to get hit once, almost die and immeaditaly need to use a herb.
They make me feel enthusiastic with every new revelations entry because they are furthering the new-and-old-formula and the results are pretty pleasing. I really enjoyed Revelations 2. It even had key-item-scavenging hunting and a few puzzles.
Why dont you like 5? when was the last time you played re4? towards the end of re4, it gets incredibly 're5' (super actiony, protect ashly, zombies on turrets, zombies shooting your shit from everywhere, riot zombies with armour and shields)
I already did. Thanks Greenman Gaming, $16 feels right for an HD Remaster.
Debating whether I should play Resident Evil 0 as Chris first though
I've only played as Jill because Jill is a QT and has exchange inventory.
Fuck yeah I am. Cheerleader Rebecca all the way.
Hard to say, but what it comes down to is RE4 is fun to play, I played it several times. RE5 was not fun, I only played it once. And as dumb as the stroy in 4 was, it didn't really impact the main story. Whereas everything story-related in 5 was just shit.
But admittedly when I think of RE4, I'm not thinking of the last section.
I agree. Don't listen to these idiots trying to convince you otherwise. RE4 has perfect pacing which overshadows all other game criteria (excluding mechanics of course). Even if the story is utter shit, the art design is horrible and all the characters suck, perfect pacing makes up for everything.
I think I will, playing as a cute girl is always a big plus for me and I've only played Resident Evil 1 -3 and 5 so I think I should probably at least try it. It's one of those games that I wish I hadn't missed out on getting a console that gen for
nah RE:0 sucked. there were some people who really liked it but I felt it moved too far away from the classic RE survival horror formula, but (in retrospect since 4 came out three years later) it didn't move far enough away from the original formula to stand on its own.
its a middle child in a transition period. its ALRIGHT if you're really desperate for resident evil. Despite being a massive RE fan (before 5 came out..) I was never desperate enough. It was just another forgettable misstep. It was more popular than the usual fuck ups but it was still uninteresting for me.
I keep hearing people say it's one of the worst classic ones. Before RE 4 came out and they went full TPS.
I'm interested in trying it, but my casual ass had trouble making it through RE 1
I hope your right. ALTHOUGH, didnt they personally put a stop to a fanmade over the shoulder RE2 game? and hired the people who were making it?
Thats a bit worrying. (If it was true?)
The only thing I don't like about it is the item management. Maybe they made it more bearable in the remaster, probably not.
Rest of the game was pretty fun though, really enjoyed it.
If they made it over the shoulder but made enemies squishier and harder whilst retaining all the classic elements like the inventory and such then I'd be alright with the camera angle change. However they'd have to re-do lots of areas to retain the scare factor and atmosphere otherwise the'll lose a lot of the memorable stuff like the police station.
As a fellow macfag, I'd recommend just saving up for a dedicated gaming pc. I love my mac and the taste of Steve Job's dick in my mouth, but I don't pretend it's a gaming machine.
It's not that bad once you realize you can leave your items on safe areas like the mansion's hall, but i agree that it only added unnecessary extra backtracking which is no good.
Ive heard that the enemy designs + bosses arent very good either (just animals/ big animals)
Is the lack of item box really that bad? why'd they remove it anyways?
Is it improved in anyway at all? or is it a complete mystery why they took it out?
Common enemies are not bad, just more varied than in the first game.
Where the game falls short is the bosses department: they're extremely forgettable and most of them seem very out of place, as if they were put in just to fill a quota. And the main villain is lame.
>Is the lack of item box really that bad?
Not really, but it's an annoyance despite being more realistic than having item boxes connected with magic.
>why'd they remove it anyways?
Beats me. Probably to add some tension to compensate the lack of it due there being two characters on screen, and make the game longer with a bunch of extra backtracking.
>Is it improved in anyway at all?
The only thing that improves is that it's more realistic, and that you can drop an item and it'll remain there forever instead of disappearing.
The truth's RE0 is loved because Rebecca is cute and she's the protagonist so she's the center of the game. To praise the game for anything else would be a lie.
Good answer. Appreciate it.
I do like me some resident evil and some Rebecca. Hope I enjoy the game.
i've never seen a single person mention helena in a RE thread. seriously i have not seen one person who cares about her at all
i finished RE6 and i'm still not really sure why she was there in the first place.
Anon. You're alright. Jill would be acceptable too
I don't like the idea of having an AI partner. Resources in RE games are scarce and I always try to save as much as possible and not use ammo where I don't need to, and I can already see the bot partner being a stupid shit shooting at zombie even if they're on the ground, using too much herbs, etc.
>all these cunts with shit taste not rolling for Rebecca
>you never did take out umbrella
Rebecca is cute but comparing her to a perfect human specimen like Sherry is just unfair.
Sherry is literally perfect, she's got those blue-eye blond Aryan genes, and her mutation makes her heal instantly from every injury or sickness.
Which I guess means every time she has sex her hymen would grow back
You can tell your AI partner in Zero to not attack so they won't waste anything or you can just tell them to stay put in a room and go off alone. However there are certain things that require both characters to be present. It's kind of annoying though when you have to do mandatory split ups during certain segments because you have to divide supplies somehow without knowing what's to come.
Cuter than Rebecca?
I played this on my friends home a very long time ago on GC, didn't make it past the train level, so I might get this on steam in the future; Does anything intimate happen between rebecca and the ex-con?
>You anons are alright take a vacation from Raccoon city next week.
I don't think they make it significantly harder. Several zombies are pretty easy to dodge. For the ones that aren't, just make sure you either blow their heads off or burn their bodies if they're in an area you'll be coming back to a lot, such as stairways and certain corridors.
RE 6, upon reflecting on the experience, was a lot of good and interesting mechanics in a genre and series where it didn't belong.
It also incorporated (I remember seeing a dev say they wanted the COD audience before release and anticipating the game being bad) a lot of dumb set pieces you'd find in COD, QTEs that were fucking awfully implemented. Stupid story and writing can be forgiven I guess as they're series staples practically.
The game's mechanics were just all over the place, some even worked against each other. The whole machine felt dysfunctional.
But for all that being said, it was a great looking game, animations were top notch. The amount of control you had over characters (the diving, shooting from prone, etc.) was great, but combined with low FOV (for some, I think you can crank it up on PC) it was nauseating at times. And while there's a lot of content, a lot of it just goes on and on, for much too long.
I've been trying to get back into old capom games and I just finished my playthroughs off all the Silent Hill games, so Resident Evil is next. But there are so fucking many games and remakes.
Which games are worth playing?
What are the best versions of them?
I've only played RE4 and i used to speedrun RE5.
PC is the definitive home of RE now. Gamecube versions of Resi 2, 3 and CV can all be emulated easily
Optional but worth a look
>Outbreak 1 & 2
>Revelations 1 & 2
Only if you absolutely have to and with a friend
First of all, you fucking newfag, that's not the same artist you're thinking of.
Second of all, you fucking newfag, who the fuck on 4chan cares about gore?
Third of all, you fucking newfag, how fucking old are you? /v/ hates Western art but they sucked this guy's dick for all of his Jade Raymond and what'sherfuckingnamefrom IGN smut
Resi 2's remake probably won't be finished until like 2018 at the earliest.
Regarding release order, sort of. Resi 1 can be completely skipped in favour of REmake and Zero can be played after it, but after that it's advisable to play in release order.
Yeah it is but we have no idea when it is coming out or what kind of remake it's going to be.
Just go ahead and play them in release order. It will make you less confused in the long run.
I have good news. That bum you like is going to come back in style.
I hope this is accurate, I've never played 6 or the Outbreaks or Revelations and have always wondered if I've been missing out.
By the way, I wouldn't count out the original RE1, it's at least nice to see where the series got its start.
Not gonna roll, but my top choices are 2, 3, 6, 7, 11, and
Fuck man, I would absolutely love to get a RE2 remake using similar graphics and assets used in REmake HD / RE0 HD
Please for the love of god that's all I want.
RE3 is my favorite, that choice mechanic fucking rocked
Give me adult Sherry, I don't want to got to jail
Revelations is pretty good, imo. Outbreak is amazing, but I don't know if you can still play online. Think you can emulate it and set something up, but I'm not sure.
6 is trash. I played through it completely and enjoyed it, but it's not only a bad RE game, it's hands-down a bad game. It has decent gunplay mechanics and raid mode is kinda neat, but other than that there's no point in playing it unless you've got time to kill with a friend
There's a cutscene where they fuck. It goes on for like 10 minutes or so. It's kind of annoying, though, because it's unskippable, and it's right before a tough boss fight, so you'll probably have to sit through it a few times.
