Boney is the item user. Because of his speed he'll always be your first character to move, which makes him perfect for emergency heals, using offensive items, or removing enemy shields. Each character in Mother 3 has a role and they're all useful in their own way aside from some of the one-off characters.

Frog's MT heal is better than Robo's for a long time because his magic stat is way higher. When you pump Robo's magic stat, then yeah, he heals better.

But early game, you need Frog's heals more, and if you have Ayla in your party, you're taking advantage of Slurp Kiss to heal HP as well as status effects. But yeah, by the end of the game, Robo is better than Frog.

It's not that inconsistent, Aika will move first 99% of the time.
Items being better than magic is what i meant. Her stats don't mean shit when she can through out a sacrum crystal first.
There are barely any enemies immune to magic in SoA, which doesnt even matter as Aikas skills aren't even magic.
She's a buff/heal character as most fast ones are. Curing exhaust is barely a set back

Not really. He has the best STR rating in the game, so keep raising that with espers and when you get the illumina, give him that by using the merit award + black belt + back row. In 2/3 party dungeons, have Terra/Celes/Cyan as your Illumina users, Edgar/Mog = dragoon, Locke/Setzer = offering setups.

By doing this you can leave behind Gau and Umaro. Gau can be okay but takes an absurd amount of time to build up late-game and isn't controllable, and Umaro is just uncontrollable garbage.

That is unless you are a faggot who just gives ultima to everyone, then your party doesn't matter.

He's good enough to still be overpowered. A lot of the other cast is just better though. He's a good character stuck in a game filled with overpowered characters. If you really want a crappy character in a game filled with overpowered party members look at Garr from BoF 4. He's utterly useless. The only thing that's decent about him is that he gets his most powerful weapon a lot earlier than anyone else. But it drains your life and Momo will still hit harder with a regular attack, not to mention with with shadowwalk which makes her attacks hit 100% of the time.

Nina's more like the Frog of BoF 3 though. She's an average party member stuck in a game filled with OP party members. Although even then, the contrast between her and every other party member besides Garr is still more jarring than comparing Frog to Crono or Robo.

I am such an RP fag that I was constantly swapping my party members around so they all got an equal share of the action...in theory.

In reality, It was close, but I never used Jacob, he was just too overshadowed by the rest. He should have been able to use rifles and shotguns, as he is a defensive biotic and could have held a position very well.

I also never used Kasumi and Liara in 2 because I caught onto the Mass Effect train two years after 3 came out.

Edward is my favourite character in the GBA version. He goes so fast that in the time Cecil takes to get one turn, he'll get 2 and a bit. It's ridiculous. His Hide is great, because it he's fast enough to quickly duck out of an incoming attack if you time it right. He does ludicrous damage to most enemies in the Moon, because he gets multipliers on them. He'll probably deal more than Cecil in there. It's pretty fun. Also he can get 99 in all stats.

He's a bit less fun in After Years unfortunately, but who isn't?

I played with Crono, Robo, and Frog. They had good healing and they are the only characters I noticed who gave me triple tech. Though later the triple tech wasn't very useful as frenzy+rapid punch took off more damage in a turn. While Frog took decent damage though considerably less with aerial strike. Also frog was my favorite character.

Angelo has Multiheal and Twin Falcon Slash, he's great. If you go Bows he gets an All Enemy attack. Yangus is actually the weakest overall party member in the game, Hero beats his strength at later levels and Angelo and Jessica are both better in boss fights, and his healing and attack options are both worse than them. He's still the best character in the game though, and he's one of the two characters who get critical hit moves for Metal Slime hunting.

naoto was far from useless though. In the original she handled trashmobs like nothing and the dungeon right after you get her is riddled with dark/light weak mobs that are immune to everything else, give her the sp half accessory and she made dungeons obsolete. She was a bit mediocre in boss fights but MC could more than make up for that and she could still spam megido spells while having no weakness. In golden she was by far the best party member hands down and in PersonaQ she was even more broken.

She's not useless, but overrated indeed.

She has average stats before level 50, and the game usually ends at levels 35-45 of your party. She's good because she starts at 35 while your party is 20 so her stats are automatically better than anyone's and that there are Death, Might, Exit and Warp among her spells. But it won't take long until other characters reach her experience. Either, not every time you will wipe entire groups with offensive magic, you will have to buff your teammates. Let alone she can't do shit against bosses but buff and heal. Her damage to bosses with spells isn't comparable to what Ryu does with dragons/physicals and Katt with physicals while buffed. She falls apart once shaman Katt, shaman Sten and shaman Jean are available, who can rush through the last dungeon without any casualties if used correctly.

Bosses are really the only thing you have to worry about in Persona anyway, the dungeons are easy no matter who use. I played the original however, if I ever play Golden I will give her another try, as well as when I play q, as the dungeons probably will be more difficult in that game than in the Personas.

Sure but trashmobs make up a much much much larger part of the game and naotos instakill moves sped up that part considerably in the original, so much that her somewhat lower boss DPS was an ok tradeoff (you only needed good MC personas for that anyway)

In golden naoto is strong because she can learn elemental dyne spells, gets heat riser, mind charge and invigorate 3 while still no weakness in sight.

PersonaQ in general makes instakill moves stupid good and naoto has both high speed and high luck making her the best character in the game by a good amount.
