Ryu mains do his combos actually work in Smash 4?
Because it appears on top level play that if Ryu attemps to do a combo anyone it will result in them shield grabing or n-air to escape and punish him. Face it the game has no hitstun Ryu is probably designed to play extremely campy just like everyone else. His combos excluding D-throw to X will only work on the most scrubbiest of scrubs.
>the game has no hitstun
If you're going to bait, at least put a bit of effort into it
>he didnt see smash 4 at genesis 3 which had some insane sets,
>he hasnt seen Trela the Ryu master
yeah you want to shitpost smash 4 melee is better yada yada yads google Trela vs Ryu to see some good Ryu action, if you care shitposterkun
Landing F-air -> rising sour N-air -> footstool -> FF sour N-air (lock) -> FA2 -> FADC -> landing sour F-air -> footstool -> FF sour N-air (lock) -> FA2 -> FADC -> landing D-air -> U-tilt -> HU-tilt -> NE Shoryuken
Easy 70%. Fuck this character.
Post some videos of high-level Smash Ryu please. I just did some quick searches for tournament Ryus but I don't think I found the good ones since they seemed to be button mashing here and there or pulling off the wrong special at times.
Why would I try? nobody pulls this shit out of training mode anyway
I also don't like anything that has footstools because they work half the time and sometimes you go flying away
Sm4shfags are contractually obligated to hate other scenes while vying for their attention due to having to live in Melee's shadow.
They mainly do this because they realize that they'll fade out like brawlfags did a few years ago.
He's been out for half a year and your asking that now?
When his trailer specifically shows you can?
>nobody pulls this shit out of training mode anyway
That's the magic of Ryu, though. If he hits you with one focus attack at any percent, he can do whatever memorized combo he wants. Not to mention that he also has like 5 different ways to break your shield.
I'm just happy I don't give a shit about competitive smash and I don't have to pretend it isn't a party game or have to care about game rivalries within the same series.
I still play with my friends with items and everything
I hate the stages in this game. Soccereye just used omega mode as an excuse to give every stage some sort of stupid gimmick. This is really apparent from the list of tournament legal stages; they really went to the bottom of the barrel with those.
I miss the SP honestly.
SmUsh classic mode is garbage, all-stars is EZ modo, the orders are only fun if you know how to cheese the game, and we don't even have adventure mode anymore.
That and smash tour being on Wii U instead of smash run.
No they can't the shitposters will just claim smash 4 has no combos with a stock reaction image
Anyone watching G3 or any major last year knows that's not even close to true, hell one of those Jap Peach mains managed to pull off her footstool infinite on Ryo's Ike and Ryo is a good player
>Look up legal stages from sm4sh only
>Duck Hunt and Town & City
It doesn't help that the most you see in sm4sh tournies is Town & City and Smashville, which look so similar to one another, it makes me question why he even bothered in the first place.
It boggles my mind that they made Final Destination versions of every stage, but not the ability to play the stage as it is, just with the hazards turned off. Or at least give us the option to turn every stage into Battlefield as well if nothing else, for fuck's sake.
I like both of the Animal Crossing stages, but the others like the Fire Emblem stage and Duck Hunt are questionable.
It sucks on stages like the Mega Man one where the only thing keeping it from being fun is the Yellow Devil dropping in every 30 seconds.
Technically you're forgetting Prism Tower and Arena Ferrox from the 3DS version, which are pretty fantastic - it's from the less played version competitively, though.
Here's hoping Umbra Clock Tower will be legal
Come on, you don't just play legal stages with friends. There's a whole lot more fun stages than just the legal ones in the game, even if some of the stages they brought back are super questionable.
I fucking hate how they destroyed a few ones with bosses though, especially Magicant, Pyrosphere and Wiley's Castle
The legal stages are also the only ones that don't have gratuitous amounts of shit flying around.
I mean, yellow devil and Ridley are only fun until they KO you more times than the guy you're fighting.
>Technically you're forgetting Prism Tower and Arena Ferrox from the 3DS version, which are pretty fantastic - it's from the less played version competitively, though.
That's another thing.
Why the fuck the fuck are most of the good stages limited to the 3DS version too?
You can't even use the "platform stages vs. console stages" argument because most of the new stages come from both.
The weird thing is too that some stages on the 3DS are actually pretty great, but kind of get fucked by how tiny the camera gets - Spirit Train especially, but Tortimer Island as well (particularly because it zooms out to show that boat and the shark for some retarded reason).
I also really miss WarioWare Inc. on Wii U (though Gamer is good) and Pictochat was always a really fun casual stage. 3DS just has a better selection of fun stages, it's weird.
Dreamland, BF and FD are also legal
Lylat Cruise, Duck Hunt are counterpicks and Halbert, Castle Siege are very situational but allowed sometimes.
It's not that much different from Melee when you look at what stages are played on it, FD,BF, Dreamland, Fountain of Dreams, Yoshis and Pokemon Stadium
Dtilt (crouching short) can be mashed and can be chained into strong downtilt (low forward) as a true combo.
Same with uptilt and strong uptilt.
All of these moves can be cancelled into any of his specials.
The trick is that uptilt, strong uptilt and strong downtilt all have scaled knockback. So at different percents, you may not be able to hit with other specials.
I.e. at 40 percent on the enemy, uptilt->strong uptilt -> shoryu won't connect because they are too far away after the strong uptilt.
Most attacks in smash 4 are unsafe on shields unless spaced very well.
Is that seriously the only two considered playable in competition? Off the top of my head there's the Galaxy stage, Wii Fit Studio, Coliseum, the boxing ring and Windy Hill Zone as relatively stable stages.
Check your reading comprehension mate.
I was talking about stages from sm4sh only, as in, stages that were introduced in sm4sh.
Of course there are more legal stages aside from those two but then again, it raises the question of what sm4sh really added to the series where only 2 stages out of 30 or so are actually legal to play.
I want Wily Castle without Yellow Devil SO BAD. All those cool platforms, all that amazing music, all for nothing.
>Walkoff with a stage hazard
>Has copyrighted material on it so it can't be used on stream
That's mainly why they aren't legal in tournament play.
>Walkoff stages banned.
Springs are random.
Fuck, I thought this was satire.
You are an idiot who has no idea what competitive smash is you aren't even worth explaining to.
Because they are hard to do, but that doesn't mean they don't exist and aren't used when they can be. It's been a year people will get better at them your already seeing way more jab locks something else hard to do at G3 than in other majors
I think it has a little to do with the stages actually looking different on the 3DS game. In the WiiU game, there are a lot of levels with green ground and blue sky (Mushroom Kingdom U, both Mario Circuits, Jungle Hijinxs, Onett, Skyloft, Temple, Pilotwings, Wuhu Island, Woolly World, Smashville, Town and City, and Wrecking Crew) which sort of tricks the brain into thinking it's seeing the same thing over and over.
I play games to have fun.
What's the point in spending countless hours to become the best at a video game if it takes away from playing more of them?
Striving to be the best at a video game in tournaments is childish. "Oh man, I'm the #1 Super Smash Bros player in the world! I'm no good at anything else!"
Stop arguing about competitively viable stages if you don't know what that entails, retard. No-one is denying you access to those stages in casual play or denying that they can be fun there.
>Stop arguing about competitively viable stages if you don't know what that entails, retard
That wasn't me anon.
I only made that Bowser grab comment because of those silly rules >>324263986 posted.
They choose not to play on those stages because they find that it is not fun. Their idea of fun in that context does not run parallel to yours.
That does not mean that they don't enjoy those stages in other contexts, nor that they are childish for enjoying things you don't and vice versa.
>Striving to be the best at a video game in tournaments is childish.
Spoken like a true shitter.
For the record, it's not just to see whose the best, it's also for the opportunity to play people that are at your skill level while learning how to play the game better.
It's not all serious business unless the community itself is garbage and has no interest in helping the community or are only in it for the money, like moba communities in general.
Wuhu was banned after being a counterpick though. Skyloft won't become legal because it has hit boxes off that show up off stage while its scrolling same with Mario Circut.
I play them for fun too you idiot but we were talking about tournament legal stages and I pointed out why those stages you listed aren't good for tournament play you think those tournament players don't have fun? Fuck off you dribbling retard
I know why they're not legal, just saying they're closer to being so than those stages.
Really sucks that Mario Circuit has those hitboxes, though - I think it's definitely the best transforming stage with the least offensive transformations and stable blastboxes.
Mainly because Nintendo are involved in sponsoring certain tournies, and they request certain stages purely for song right issues. Out of the stages considered tournament legal, only a select few fall into the list that Nintendo can allow. Since you can't turn songs off completely, they can't guarantee a song they don't have the full licensing rights too wont get streamed. So they just unleash the ban-hammer on full stages instead.
Agreed lose that one section with the ceiling and the karts driving by and it's a decent counterpick for sure. I'd like to see Halberd back personally.
What the fuck are you talking about? Nintendo doesn't decide what stages can be used holy shit what is with /v/ and spewing shit out their mouths?
Halberd is a fucking awful stage, and much more so in Smash 4 than Brawl. Some characters just get free wins on it, I'm glad it's gone.
D1 is a passive-aggressive dipshit who likes everything to be as conservative as possible.
They actually do. Mr. Wizard talked about it to an extent - TOs that want official Nintendo backing need to talk to them about licensing. DLC chars were not allowed at Evo specifically because their stream license did not allow it.
>What the fuck are you talking about? Nintendo doesn't decide what stages can be used holy shit what is with /v/ and spewing shit out their mouths?
Shut the fuck up.
Actually, rewatching this, almost everything he called Counterpick or Neutral actually ended up getting banned (although in some cases like Pyrosphere he couldn't have known it'd be fucked up by fucking Ridley)
I like it because it helps some lower tier characters out with ceiling kills. And the stage hazards arent intrusive at all
>Character gets hit by an attack and then hit by another attack without any way to escape the second attack
> this is not a combo
You don't know what this was about - they already gave them a list of stages they wanted to play, but that got locked in super early and because of music issues (I mean, come the fuck on) they couldn't ADD anything (or play Omegas).
What the fuck are you talking about? Most normal people just have multitwitch running at Genesis and such, it's just a few shitposters reacting like crazy to Smash 4 or Melee posts. Don't worry about it.
Oh, sucks. Previous tourneys have had DLC characters (and stages) allowed as long as they hadn't been out for a super short while (like the patch hitting the day before) from the getgo, though.
Smash 4's biggest problems:
1. 3DS version fucked up everything just like Subspace Emissary fucked up Brawl
2. Classic Mode being raped
3. Smash Run and Smash Tour
4. Still no momentum from ground to air
5. Blast Zones too big
6. Wolf was cut
Care to point out how I'm a retard? What points do you disagree with?
>hurr le furrie
It's funny how you're so obsessed with the idea of furries you think people only like non-humans as sex objects.
>Everyone wants Mewtwo back in Smash
>Soccer eye hates Mewtwo because he's a pain in the ass to make
>This is the reason why Mewtwo was cut from brawl
>Since fans want Mewtwo back, they do a rush job
>Make Mewtwo the weakest fighter in the game, with all his moves being useless
I can see why Mewtwo can be a hard job, but they could atless fix him right.
They increased shieldstun, not hitstun. Smash 4 has the same hitstun formula as Melee anyway but it has less true combos because of it being a floatier game, moves across the board have high base knockback making low percent combos harder, no ground to air momentum, moves having lots of cooldown, bad auto cancel windows, lots of landing lag, and being able to airdodge out of tumble.
Mewtwo got buffed in the last patch. He's honestly not that bad anymore, they fixed his hitboxes for the most part. His only real problem now is that he's the second lightest character in the game for no reason.
I wonder if Sakurai doesn't take his floatiness into account balance-wise and just makes him like that because he thinks M2 "looks" like he should be floaty, because of how he jumps and stuff.
He probably just had some dumbass reasoning like "Mewtwo uses psychic powers to float, so we'll make him super light" even though Ness and Lucas do the same thing and they're mid-weight.
Weight and fall speed are two separate things so it's possible to be heavy and floaty, like Samus for example.
>Soccer eye hates Mewtwo because he's a pain in the ass to make
How the hell was he a pain in the ass to make? It's amazing the things Sakurai says about characters that he either doesn't put in, cuts, or intentionally makes shit.
A glass cannon is fast and powerful. Mewtwo is neither. If Sakurai knew what he was doing then Mewtwo would have overall the most knockback-heavy moves in the game and move at a speed more befitting his speed stat in Pokemon while still being very light.
So remember how Sakurai said that Samus was the best in the game and then it got released, we found out Samus was shit?
>There are already people saying that Bowser is the strongest character, but as is usually the case the character that’s the strongest at the beginning usually ends up pretty weak in the end.
They'd have to do a lot more than that to make it closer to Melee. If you wanted it to be as close to Melee as possible then you'd need PM 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Honestly, Brawl was closer to Melee in terms of knockback than Smash 4. If they kept Brawl's low base knockback, great auto cancel windows, and low landing lag then they game might have had more combos than it does. Even with low base knockback if the moves are too laggy then you won't be able to follow up. Also once again, not having the ability to airdodge out of tumble would help with combos as well.
He does rack up damage extremely quickly though, and his moves are strong. Sure, maybe not able to kill consistently at 80%, but he is powerful.
A throw that does 15 damage isn't exactly weak.
In my opinion the swordsmen are the most fun characters to play because generally their hitboxes actually match the length of their blades, nothing super wonky or common to whiffs, so being able to rely on the sword length as my hitbox makes timing easier
then I played Cloud and I was like "oh swords are just OP in this game because of reach"
You don't really want to rack damage up that much in Smash 4 because of rage, you really want a way to get the kill off quickly. You can rack up the damage and get Ryu to 100%, but now he'll just kill Mewtwo at 50% with a true shoryu
Cloud and Ike are really the only two good swordsmen. The way you're thinking is likely similar to the way Sakurai thinks.
Swordsmen in this game typically have bad auto cancels and not so good landing lag. Likely cause Sakurai thinks having those swords disjoints would make them super hard to fight.
Nice tournament results.
Cloud is yet to prove himself too, but Roy has been around for a long time already.
>citing tourneys which have been almost globally conquered by a single person
i don't care about tourney results since playing the game at "pro level" was clearly not intended hence why the top tier characters are all boring as fuck to actually play with/against at that level.
>Cloud is yet to prove himself too
