When choosing armour in Dark Souls I always based my desiscion on

Rolling Type>Fashion>Defensive Stats.

I spent 90% of the game in Elite Helm, Hard Leather Armour and the best Gauntlets and Boots I could still fastroll with.

Havels Ring, FAP ring and an assload of endurance meant I was using Havels Gauntlets and Boots by the end of the game.
