>hyped af for this game
>had it on PS3 but never finished it because of the horrible framerate and sluggish visuals.
>think its going to be the ultimate edition with everything fixed
>especiffically the terrible designed fights
>more especiffically the bandit warriors on the way to witchwoods
>the fucking bandits are still there and theyre exactly the same.
Why the fuck didnt capcom fixed this? If they didnt then I'm sure it means the world is still filled with terribly misplaced opponents.
Nope, sorry, this has nothing to do with getting good. They throw in level 30 bandits right between a group of level 10 bandits, in a starting zone, and they have no distinctive quality like a glowing sword or super armor. Theyre literally just level 30 mops in the most basic armor in the game.
I don't get why you are so mad about these fucking bandits. Go away, do something else, then get back and kill them.
Everyone new it was going to be a 1:1 porting the moment the price tag was revealed.
Its extremely hard to knock them off the cliff unless youre a mage (which would make the whole fight harder because starting mages are shit) and even if you do, it wont kill them. In fact it will break the fight and the guy will ignore you until he reaches his spawn zone, which will make him regen all his hp.
I know you can evade them but thats still no excuse for the horrible design decision. Why would you throw in 2-3 enemies that are 20 levels above the rest of the group and who have no distinctive quality?
I dont have any staggering skills yet.
Their combo is a 1 shot and my combo doesnt finishes before theirs begins.
And they take like 1 damage, literally 1 damage. My warrior pawn held one and I hit him with scarlet kiss for a whole minute and I didnt even managed to take 10% of his hp away
If an enemy is staggered, you can just pick them up and throw them.
Or as I said, run past them. There's no penalty to running past things. You just save time and don't gain a little experience.
> They throw in level 30 bandits right between a group of level 10 bandits
kek you fucking wish they where level 30. It's just the amount + position that fucks up shitters like you.
they wanted some prettier texture and particles, but exactly zero assets have been touched in the making of this porting.
Their charge attack 1 shots you
Their combo stunlocks you on 1 hit and a full combo kills you regardless of your hp (hits for over a 1000 hp, you dont have that much hp until you're like level 25)
Your hits inflict 1-5 damage.
If they fall off the cliff, the fight resets.
they constantly kill your pawns and you have to waste time reviving them so that they're not forfeit.
Its possible but its VERY tough without the proper set of skills, dont try to brag about how good you're at this.
No dumbass they're literally level 30, a single one of them is a huge issue because they FUCKING ONE SHOT YOU.
and they take almost no damage.
its not about the numbers, dumbass, go play the game first, the striders are balanced and you can easily kill them, its the warriors in the group that give huge trouble. and theres only a total of 3 and one of them is isolated, so no, numbers are not an issue
Not op but have you played this?
Its literally like the only area in the game where this happens, you encounter the same enemy type if you follow another route and they're not even half as tough as these ones
I don't remember all these anons mad at the skellies near the beginning in DaS, it's not like a skeleton was a big threat indicator and they definitely wrecked your shit. What's up with that?
>No dumbass they're literally level 30
I've played this game on the PS3 dozens of times, restarting my character no less. And the bandits in this game are NOT higher then lvl 15 at most. You are just dumbass that doesn't know how to dodge or block and when to attack. Cry more and refund the game cause if you can't figure out how to fight some bandits you are going to get murdered by literally everything else.
What was up with thpse shitty god rays which make it where you cant even see grigori during the opening cutscene? I played on 360 and plan to pick it up on pc, but is there an option to revert to the less obtrusive lighting the console version had?
>Is this tentacle monster boss under the capital meant to be immortal?
No, you have to kill like 50 tentacles and it stops
The difference is that the Skeletons existed specifically to indicate "Don't got this way" so that you instead went toward the Undead Burg.
In this case, there is a quest past those bandits that, if not done early, can't be done that playthrough. I dunno if it's intended to be done by players on NG+ but as it is, it looks like shoddy game design.
Don't listen to this anon, The only indicators you "shouldn't go this way yet" are things like the chimera, or the dragon or the undead skeleton knight.
The chimera and undead skele are pretty easy to kill of tho
>being this dense
OP is talking about the bandit warriors on the way to witchwood, which are noticeably stronger than every other bandit in the game, the problem is that they're a group of low level bandits with 3-4 high level ones mixed between them, it makes no sense for them to be there. The other bandits are super easy but these ones are an exception
You're exaggerating on both counts. I was a sorc, and while they certainly destroyed me, the rest of my group didn't die half as easily as you imply. My damage against them wasn't that terrible either. Miasma for aoe, and ingle for knockback served me well though. I'm not bragging about anything, I just didn't have the issues you seem to be having.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who had problems. I'm level 12 now, and I managed to kill all of them eventually, but it is by far the hardest part of the game so far.
>OP is talking about the bandit warriors on the way to witchwood
I know that spot he's talking about, and they are seriously not that much stronger then the other bandits if you use your head instead of rushing and then complaining you lost on /v/.
Fuck that. Real men climb up the ledge near Cassardis to sneak in the back of Witchwood!
I beat them before reaching gran soren on hard mode. You just haven to time your strikes and watch when they wind up an attack.
Regardless, you can come back later.
I mean I'm doing a blind playthrough and just killed them all, no cheesing, with lvl 10 pawns.
Maybe you're just not good at video games? Reminds me of how some plebs couldn't kill the asylum demon. It's like a casul filter.
It doesnt changes the fact that you deal 1-5 damage to them.
So yeah, obviously you can kill them (I killed them on PS3) but it can take hours because of the amount of shots you need.
This game is different from other games that someone like you might normally play. Unlike League of Legends or Farmville, this actually takes some form of skill. I realise that your are used to having victory handed to you just because you bought the game, but sometimes, this thing called "difficulty" is used to enhance the challenge a game can bring. Try not to throw a tantrum when you get to the undead dragons - I don't want to see any more rage threads from you.
help me out here. So i'm like lvl 12 and I went to Bitterblack Isle because some message popped up saying i should go there.
everything is literally killing me in like 2 hits, is this game really hard or am i not supposed to go there yet?
Mages with levitate can slide up the cliffside and grip that ledge.
I'd imagine MA's with their quadruple jump could easily get up there as well, but of course by the time you can do that you'd have little reason to. Could make doing the final witchwood stuff a little faster though.
in my playthrough I would have been killed at 0:15
I dont know what you're doing but you survived 4 attacks from the warrior and a combo from the strider.
Not only survived actually, you barely took damage.
A single hit from the warrior deals 300 damage on my strider.
Not OP but dodgng their attacks isn't the issue. I killed all the bandits except the sword and board guy ez. Sword&board though, doesn't take any damage. He's easy to dodge but he just won't die. Even with a pawn holding him still so I can just wail on him my weapons don't hurt him. Didn't know I could throw him off a cliff though, gonna try that next time.
Shit man, what level are you? I just did it at level 15 (I did pretty much every other sidequest and board quest up to that point) as a rank 2 Strider with only Biting Wind (though I had the ring equipped that upgrades it).
I also only had my main pawn with me who's a Challenger/Acquiring Mage. Boon spells help out a ton early game. Just keep mashing Help until they give you one then Biting Wind the shit out of the enemies.
>He can't beat the bandits before witch woods.
>There's even wonky terrain to expoit their shit AI.
Why do you think that? Most players end up going to the Undead Burg first specifically because the Skeletons in the graveyard are too hard.
It's very clear the game is directing you that way.
Did you read the part where it says theres a bug which causes the fight to reset when you throw them off a cliff?
throwing them wont kill them instantly.
They lose aggro and disengage and run back to their spawn location.
once at the spawn location, they regen all their HP.
throwing doesnt work.
Audio is really quiet so if you play other music/videos on your PC during gameplay you'll have to have it really low.
Oh and pawn rating/rewards are borked at the moment so you won't know if your pawn was hired unless you see a new enemy in their beastiary.
>Why the fuck didnt capcom fixed this?
Because they knew you would buy it no matter what quality it was. They knew you wouldn't care about the final product enough to research your purchase before making it. I've been telling you dumb faggots to be better consumers, but all you want is a mouthful of dick.
I've managed to get rid of it a couple times but I pick up everything so they follow suit and BOOM it's back again.
I don't have the RC for the potions yet.
Also, i haven't had an issue with them ignoring threats, their main inclination is Challenger which I believe overrides secondary in battle.
So your just bad. Got it. By the way your bow skills can stagger them.
Because I just watched my friend, who only made it to gran soren on the PS3 version take out a chimera at around lvl 15.
This game is amazing if you
git gud you fucking faggot
Who's got the sweetest disposition?
One guess, guess who.
Who never ever starts an argument?
Who never shows a bit of temperament?
Who's never wrong but always right?
Who never dreams of starting a fight?
Who gets stuck with all the bad luck?
No one, but that OP fuck.
He's talking about a design choice, not a technical issue. Theres a group of bandits in a starting area which are very easy, but amongts them they have 3 bandits who are visually no different from the others who are several levels higher and who can kill you almost instantly.
As for the port, its bretty good m8. Greatly optimized and keyboard icons (no xbox icons bullshit).
But I did noticed 2 issues:
Sound is too low even at max.
And when a monster grabs you and you're prompted to press A and D repeteadly to escape their grip, the bar fills very very slowly even if you press the buttons like a maniac, so its basically impossible to free yourself when that prompt appears (and this can mean instant death with some monsters)
other than that its fine
>getting owned by bandits ever
You're still ignoring the fact that the bandits one shot you (this is regardless of skill) and that you deal 1-5 damage to them (regardless of skill) and that the fight resets if you throw them off a cliff (regardless of skill)
so please explain to me how am I bad?
because it really sounds like you haven't even played the game and you think im speaking about every single bandit when im talking especiffically about the 3 bandit warriors near witchwood entrance.
You remind me of a guy in a mad max thread who was trolling people who critizised the game, one guy said how it sucked that your car was the fastest in the game so no enemies could catch up to you and the retard said there were dirtbikes in the game that could outrun you (theres not any kind of bikes in mad max)
Turning on volume normalization in windows seems to work. Sound options in the control panel, go to the sound device with the green checkmark, hit properties, enhancements, check loudness equalization.
This probably isn't the best choice if you're an audiophile, but it works great for general use. They should eventually patch the game's volume though.
oh why hadn't I thought about that?!
So I should just avoid their attacks for 1 hour straight right? Nevermind that a single mistake will kill me and I'll have to reset.
See this is why you're a retard.
You can literally say the same for every single action RPG
"Oh no monster is too hard, you can just avoid their attacks! its very easy to beat every single enemy in the game at level 1 anon, you just have to avoid their attacks for 1 hour straight!"
>consolefags still defend this shit game even thought he PC release exposed it as a mediocre piece of shit
I bought the best armor the current merchants had to offer.
Nope, still getting 1 shot by the charge attack and stunlocked-killed by their combo.
You need to realize not everyone plays as a fucking warrior.
I'm not a fan of the game, but I got past them on the first try, then died to some dumb shit and lost the next 2 times.
It's not impossible, but it's a tougher opponent than most games throw at you early, and the fact that it embraced no lock on means that the learning curve if you go straight for them can really kick up.
>Okay Arisen, if you take this quest all quests related to this thing will become unavailable
>Do all those quests
>Accept other quest
>Fail completely unrelated quest from someone that has nothing to do with him
let your pawns take the beating, and when the opportunity presents itself, take firm hold of his ass cheeks and make him stand still while your pawns wail on him
a grappled enemy takes FAR more damage than normal
>wandering out at night from the dripstone cave
>suddenly beset by wolves
>start getting my aught wrecked
>manage to pull through due to shields not being useless
i really hope this gets a sequel
I've played this game as a mage first bruh, then strider. So yes I do realize that not everyone plays a warrior first. And it was still not nearly as hard as you and the OP are making it out to be.
of course your going to be getting one shot, specially if you are a mage regardless of armor.
So this returns to the fact that you are incapable of getting good.
you're outright full of shit. i just went to the witchwood 2 hours ago. with my MAGE. i died once to a charge attack and didn't let it happen again
yeah, those fuckers are annoying, but with a little bit of finesse you can easily overtake them
>decide to say fuck it
>do the escort the town leader guy to the shadow fort at level 9
>bandits at the top of the hill kill him once
>hob goblins get him once
>chimera almost gets him but by continuously picking him up and throwing him I get him out to safety
>pitch black midnight sprint to the shadow fort
intense as fuck and tons of fun
>textures not touched
You clearly have no time spent in 360 or ps3 version the textures are clearly higher res, increased draw distances, superior lighting and shadowing to create textured appearance on the environment.
I know the game isn't 10 out of 10 and the visuals may be dated but to say it is a straight port visually is false.
I thought the only high level bandits in the group where the guys with shields. They kept one shotting me but I could survive a few hits from the rest. I managed to beat them on the fifth try on hard mode
Guys, how the fuck do I switch my vocation to mixed? I want to have sword as my primary and daggers as my secondary, I believe that's Assassin, but how do I achieve this?
Does this game not support crossfire? It keeps randomly crashing and giving me this message. Is AMD just fucked as usual?
Thanks /v/eddit. That really sucks because I just bought fucking awesome daggers, but I really want to use a sword.
So if I understand this, You can only main either sword OR daggers and bow OR shield respectively?
New to DD and I was surprised by the bandit as I did no damage to him and he killed me in one shot. So I just ran past him and it was just wolves and spiders after that. Not sure if that was how it is suppose to be solved but was pretty easy to do.
>running through world on the way back to city
>ambushed by cyclops duo and Hobgoblins
>kill them easily and continue on
>ambushed again by saurians and chimera
>barely get by and continue on
>it's night now and I have to go through the forest
>ambushed again by hobgoblins
>hear a roar
>turn around and see a fucking dragon
>destroy most of the goblins and run like a bitch
This fucking game. I'm sorry I didn't listen to you sooner /v/.
>How do you use the second dagger while holding a shield?
Shield is on the back and only used when needed like mystic knight.
>Also assassin sounds like it has way more usable weapons than anyone else.
That's right, it's the only class that can use 4 different weapons.
seeing this only reminds me that everytime I boot up the game everything runs smoothly, cut scenes, the intro... then the game starts and it all goes slow motion.
All I want to play my favorite vidya man... instead I got a shitty weekend with nothing to do but wait for classes.
Thanks OP you are the reason games have evolved into sand boxes like JC3 where you are god and literally nothing can touch you or spin2win witcher 3 or QTE to win like platinum games or left click to win like skyrim, or counter to win like bamha, yeah that about sums em all up. Geez I wonder why you see so many people that are into souls games are always asking DD to be like souls.
Shit, that probably has to do with that quiz when making the pawn, right? I knew I would regret just answering whatever. Thanks though, I was worried it was just the AI is stupid.
you can swap out at any time retard, you can even swap weapons from the inv in combat as long as you arent swinging shit, I use the dagger double jump to grab onto cyclops, swap to sword, then gouge his shit
I love this game but
>the slow traveling everywhere even with portcrystals
>the damage sponge enemies that take forever to kill and make hard mode not even worth playing
>how fucking short the game is
God damn is it annoying
The AI can be either extremely smart or stupid depending of inclination/bestiary knowledge. With good choices in both pawns could basically finish the game without you. Also your main pawn copy you so if you're standing back and attacking from range he will eventually do the same.
>quest with that girl Quina and witchwood
>all this goddamn fog
>suddenly rented pawn, who must have already done the quest, says "master follow me"
>starts jumping up rocks
>witch's house shortly after a clearing
God DAMN, based pawns.
>be hype as fuck for this game
>actually spend fucking money on it
>cant play it becasue i'm a week behind in my online class
>the day after my online class ends an 18 credit semester begins
fuck my life
>asks about simple mechanics instead of just looking them up instead
Oh the bandits near the fucking keep before the beaches and cliffs??
That's because that area is higher level you fucking idiots.
That's the same place with the swamps with the dragons living in them.
Like, how do you not figure that's a bit later on?
How autistic do you have to be to encounter a hard enemy and instead of thinking "Oh ok I guess I'll come back when I'm levelled" you quit the fucking game and cry on 4chan about it 3 years later.
Worse than when my best friend wouldn't play Kingdom hearts because Sora had a bit of a delay before moving after he landed a jump.
Her weapon was the silver rapier before aka griffith set rapier. So i am wondering if she uses something different or if it is npc only rapier now especially since she goves it to you at a certain point if you waifu her hard enough
>how to exaggerate: the post
I dunno anon, considering how there's 1 guy (You) that is having trouble on one group of bandits and the rest of the thread hasn't, I'd say you're the retarded one really.
>How do I git gud at blocking?
you git gud at blocking.
That's all that can actually be said.
Fighter and Mystic knight both of augments that make it easier to perfect block, but in the end it comes down to you learning how to time.
Playing Hard. Got to Soren, bought best armor I could and working through Everfall. Small mobs still two-shot me. Is Hard mode gonna be like that throughout? I mean, I'm all for a challenge but it starts to get aggravating with swarms in dark environments or lots of spells obscuring view.
I broke the crew apart in half and killed them all easily. Also I waited until about level 20 to do it with a decent party composition.
Yes. It is about gittin gud. You are a scrub.
are weak to fire
Radeon 7770 (5 year old card) and FX-6100 here and everything on the highest setting and hasn't once dipped below 60. What kind of toaster do you have anon
Here's my shorthand impressions:
Very neat open world with lackluster weather system.
Some good TECHNOLOGY moments like your physical build influencing combat, using destructibles, damage points on monsters etc.
Very good class variety.
Very obtuse and unnecessary stat system, item overload, endless cascade of menus you have to fiddle with every step of the way, detracting from the experience.
Cities are well designed scale wise but their layouts are far from impressive and points of interest seem too conveniently placed, they quickly become just hubs you run in and out of.
I view pawn party system as completely lackluster addition to gameplay and don't care about simplistic AI tagging along and helping with battles. I'd rather it was pure single player experience than this. And I know you can play it like it's a SP game etc.
While movesets are varied, playing with warrior gets you caught up in spamming two different moves over and over again, even playing with Zweihander in DS offers more variety.
Love the archery.
The game on the whole feels like a definition of "unpolished gem" or whatever. Will play it more to see bigger creatures but I mostly enjoy it for sprawling fields. Night time is underwhelming.
>instead of gitting gud, bitch about it on 4chan and say the game is shit
>wondering in the woods going to next quest
>chimera crashes the scene
>climb on his back and bash his brains in
something about beating the big guys in this game is profoundly satisfying
What the fuck is up with item combinations?
Should I just arbitrarily try combining items and see what I get? I'm not sure what's good, what I should sell, etc.
The optimization seems to be really inconsistent when looking on the steam forums. Some people running it on a toaster have reported getting 60FPS while others running on modern hardware keep getting frame drops. Another issue is no one is getting gifts or comments on their pawns for some reason.
Shit could anyone answer this? I might not buy it if I can't main my favorite weapon.
>"Oh ok I guess I'll come back when I'm levelled"
And then they play too far into the main quest and get the failure notification for the one that led them into this situation.
OP just fucking sucks.
I do need some advice, anons. I can't decide whether to make my main pawn a mage or fighter. When I played on 360 I had a mage pawn, and I liked always having a capable healer on hand. Does anyone have an opinion on this?
>Also I waited until about level 20 to do it with a decent party composition.
Are you retarded?
That's like saying "hey I dont know why you couldnt afford that 2000 dollars car, I simply saved until I had 4000 dollars to buy it!"
If you get to level 20, you're just 10 levels below those bandits and you'd obviously be a lot more competent than a level 10. That area is level 10, if you're level 20 by that point you either grinded the fuck out of the game as soon as you left cassardis OR you already cleared the dungeon below gran soren.
Its a starting area, you're meant to go there when you're level 6-10
a lot of item combos are redundant, probably just in case you're stranded out in the middle of nowhere, you can still create curatives, arrows, bombs, oil, etc out of random shit that is only found in that area
As far as I know, the game wont let you combine items blindly, you NEED to have both items on your inventory to be able to combine them, its not about discovering combinations, the game will spell them for you, but you need the materials.
Also you can just hoard all the shit you want and save it on your item storage, its global, and when you're upgrading gear, it automatically access to the storage so taht you dont have to move mats around.
Fighter/warrior can get kind of boring. If you want maximum options, start as fighter, then switch to assassin as soon as you get to Gran Soren, if you want the greatest variety of non magic offense. Plus if you don't plan to ever use magic, assassin will give you the best stat growth. Ultimately, only two stats matter in DD, strength, and magic, and no class has better strength stat gain than assassin.
>You will never get your own personal pawn harem.
>when you're upgrading gear, it automatically access to the storage
So I don't need to every carry around any items besides my equipment and like health/battle items? Is that what you're saying because that would be fucking great.
>tfw I made my main pawn look like
the mother I wish I had
Not that anon but dagger classes have always been my favorite archetype. No matter the game or combat system. Rogues often get the shaft compared to fighter/mage types in fantasy settings. It makes every stab through a mage's robe or piercing a fighter's armor feel pretty satisfying when daggers are typically forgotten. Plus the thought of the epic hero being some creepy sneak thief is entertaining to me.
DD doesn't really seem to care about your class as far as story goes but where many games make daggers just plain weak outside of burst damage so far I don't feel too gimped playing a melee strider.
For me the game runs amazingly everywhere except Gran Soren and the surrounding field
If I go anywhere else it's 100+fps and constant 144 in caves and other instances. Around Gran Soren it'll drop to the 50s
Yup thats what I'm saying, forget about running back and forth to the storage because you forgot a chunk of ore.
If you have mats on the storage, the upgrader will acess it instantly.
Its literally the best feature in this game, I'm surprised nobody ever mentions it.
>Get to Gran Soren once again
>Reveling in the feeling since I haven't touched DD in quite a while
>See the weapon shop
>Start feeling nervous
>But I need to get new gear
This is not a hard game, I'm sorry you are having trouble with it. I'm sure there will be a trainer made available to you soon.
Have you considered playing on Easy mode? Good luck!
WHAT'S WRONG ANON
THEY'RE CLEARLY MASTERWORKS
>thinking this game is hard
How, there's no limit to the amount of times you can revive your pawns and the amount of healing items you find or can buy with all the extra money from side quests is excessive. The only problem with higher level enemies is that they take longer to beat for no better reward.
I'm done with the bait.
No, it doesnt takes "2 minutes" to kill them, it takes at least 10 minutes to kill one of the warriors, and theres 3.
Also this is obviously if you go there when you're supposed to (level 10 average), because some retards here came laughing at OP and then it turned out they were level 20-30, no shit sherlock if you go to an area while overleveled you wont have any issue.
why the fuck is it sped up?
you should really get the game, its amazing. BTW I'd recommend you to buy it, not pirate it. Its very cheap (30 at steam and maybe you'll get it at 20 on some keys site)
I'm telling you to buy it because if you play it offline (pirated) you wont be able to access user-created pawns (default pawns are shit and hard to find)
guys i cant think of a good name for my warrior loli
surprisingly spot on, the default keybinds are a bit weird, but with tweaking, its leagues better than a controller. And remember, if you have an item selected
SUCH AS THE LANTERNand hit a number 1-5, it will bind that item to that key.
that weird beast on the stairs that gets excited when it sees women how are you suppose to fight it? i managed to kill it by dropping the gate on it so i missed something
Run away, and I don't just mean flee but run away during battle. You're supposed to be striking weak points as a strider. Let your fighter(s) tank. If you fuck up, back off for a heal. If you get one shot, well don't let it happen again. This isn't a game where you are just going to stack avoidance, you have to actually avoid things as a strider.
>Decide to be a badass and do hard mode right from the start
>Well Sarurian farts on me
I literally never said the game was hard. I mentioned a specific issue which is bandits from a starting area being 20 levels above the rest of their group, with no distinctive visual features to tell them apart.
WHEN DO YOU GET SOME BETTER FUCKING CLOTHES JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I LOOK LIKE A FUCKING JACKASS.
>ASYMMETRICAL BLIZZARD-TIER ONE-ARM ARMOR
>ALADDIN DIAPER PANTS
I'M THE FUCKING ARISEN WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS.
generic pawn that people will only hire by accident/10
You are a total bitch. The shield bandits are a bitch at low levels, so either run the fuck by them and suck up the fact that you wont be killing them the first time, or try try try again to kill them.
And no, they arent level 20-30, they get easy as shit at level 16 for me, and that is as an assassin that started as strider
Pretty much, if you want to be in the thick of it, and be a whirlwind of death, but also be able to snipe fools with a bow, then assassin is the class for you. If you decide you want to dabble in magic, then switch to sorceror from level 101 to 200 for the best magic growth. That build will leave you with a jack of all trades that can do any class decently once you factor in the stat boosts from equipment and the appropriate augments(I can not overstate just how useful the right augments are). Oh, and try not to spend any of your discipline points before you get to Gran Soren, to ensure you have the required 1,000 to unlock the assassin vocation.
I have a 970 and I drop to sub 30 in the fields around Gran Soren but I run it well above 60 maxed everywhere else.
Looking on the steam forums this seems to be a pretty common issue for 970s.
Best bet with Ogres is to smack them in the face.
That ogre however is just there to be a cunt and unless you're gung ho you either run or trick it into dropkicking off the ledge.
Armor actually matters - why do you think the one bandit in armor is such a tank? Red classes get much higher defense, not to mention warriors get passives to take less damage if they are charging an attack - though I don't know if the anon in that webm would have that already, being only level 14.
Wait were those bandits supposed to be hard?
because the fight was pretty long, felt like 2 or 3 groups of bandits and maybe a group or 2 of wolves. didnt have much trouble at all even with stock generated pawns.
>Enchant your weapons with fire
>jump on its face
>stab it in the face
>repeat until dead
If you're still having trouble you could try using a female tank pawn, you can also try petrifying it but I find some of the status effects not great. Also if you're a strider use a rusted bow to slow the shit out of everything you fight. Torpor is OP as fuck.
They are a bit difficult to avoid, and unless you are a warrior or fighter, 2-3 hits will have you eating dirt, so the best move at that level is to run by them. 5-6 levels later and they are as easy as the other bandits
If you're not having trouble killing them then why do you need to be able to tell them apart? If you start fighting them and notice that they're taking to long to beat the run away and go around them next time, enemies don't even follow for that long.
Don't climb their backs as they will fall backwards to crush you, and they are susceptible to fire and getting petrified.
Regular ones will go rape mode on females while later ones go after males. Don't let one grab a pawn and dash off or they will most likely get killed by the time you chase it down. If it grabs you then you better hope your pawns aren't morons and come save your ass.
I already ignored the guys, since I created the thread I actually, I just wanted to point out how this horrible design choice was kept rather in the game.
But let me keep this going: yeah tanking doesnt do shit because they still one shot my pawns, yes even warrior pawns.
I'll say it again: I was level 10, the party was level 10, its a level 10 area.
People here have been saying "ohhh you just need to git gud I killed them on my first try and I was only level 95"
Pretty self explanatory.
Its a fucking RPG, have you played one before?
Were you expecting to have a full clad golden plate armor with a diamond-embedded cloak and a fire sword 20 minutes into the game?.
Also EVERY merchant in the starting area (shopkeeper in cassardis, shopkeeper in encampment and the blonde bitch) sell leather armor which effectively makes you look like a mercenary rather than a pleb, so I dont know what you're whining about.
>thinking there are level areas
>Thinking it's a shit design when it's literally a game about gitting gud at actually dodging attacks
>crying because you can't do what other people have done at your level with the same gear
The only thing self explanatory is you are a dumbass that refuses to understand what "dodge" means.
Also you are suppose to do it low level because lo and behold if you go to grand soran with out doing the quest you'll fail it iirc.
its a starting area.
Its the only path to get to witchwood, which is part of a starting quest.
Yes you can exploit the terrain to reach witchwood from other side but this wasn't intended.
I know that if you keep going down the hill you'll actually find some ultra tough monsters there, but that specific area is level 10, and the bandit striders there are adequate for a level 10 party, but the warriors are much, much harder.
Don't even bother until you finish the main story.
There's also the fact that if you do go hang around BBI before you finish the story, you will eventually gain a shit load of levels and equipment you aren't supposed to have at that point and end up turning the final story bosses into a joke.
Grigori's scenes and battles take a bit of a hit in the drama department when you one or two shot him immediately.
>mason is a massive dickbag who deceived someone and then couldn't even have the fucking balls to kill him himself
I'm not going to feel bad about missing out on his shitty escort mission. Fuck him.
Are you starting out on hard because you think it gives you street cred or something? Because I was just there earlier today on my strider and could survive a hit before going down - pack more curatives.
>its a level 10 area.
There aren't exactly level requirements to any area.
There are actually a shitload of things you can do about that fight. Try actually using items. Try actually using support abilities. Fucking walk around them. There's no good reason to bitch so hard about it.
>arrived in Gran
>rested at the inn
>did a few more quests, lots more messing around
>went up about shitton of levels, lots of gold ect ect
>start doing the tomb quest
>go to the first location up north which takes about an hour
>port down south
>come across the guy who is being attacked
>try to rescue him but fail
>think, oh thats okay, ill just reload and spawn back at the city
>back at the Inn
>all that progress gone
At least I have an excuse to delete this character in rage and then make a new one I guess.
Would be nice if the game actually fucking autosaved reliably though.
That part is designed to teach you how to run away. Not everything will go your way, and sometimes you learn the hard way you can't beat the opponent easily. You CAN do the fight though if you want... I don't recall my fighter being one shot either. I was in a battle against them and the wolves, survived by isolating enemies and having my pawns stick close. 2 striders, rook and a fighter. Yeah I had to get them up a few times but it's doable.
>But this wasn't intended
Running, dodging, and generally getting the fuck outta dodge was completely intended. You may be the arisen, but you were a piece of shit fisherman that by chance happened to scratch the dragon a few days before
>people have explicitly being saying how they were level 20 at that part
>one of them even posted a webm showing him being level 15.
>still say they were "my level" (10)
>a lot have also mentioned how they failed that quest because they advanced with the main one
Its not like the area is deleted if you fail the quest, its still the only path to reach the ruined fort.
>they still one shot my pawns
then it's your own fault, there's no way something is one shotting your pawns that early unless your not buying gear or running around with them at half health to begin with
>the area is level 10
No it isn't, you're not expected to kill chimera/armoured cyclopes at level 10, which roam that area, the expected level progression is a straight line to gran soren, very comparable to dark souls way to the belfry gargoyles, those bandits are the skeletons of this game. Also comparable to running a straight line to new vegas and getting your ass torn apart by cazadors and death claws.
although the boss isn't pathetic like pinwheel
Don't bother with NG+ unless you really like the pre-endgame's scenery, or want NG+ exclusive vanilla shit. It's probably best to equip yourself with dragonforge stuff before going into BBI.
I've never done any of the optional escort quests, I played through the game 3 times on ps3. You're not really missing anything.
In fact almost every optional board quest is meaningless.
how do you lose to those bandits? like its sort of a hard part when you first start the game but the whole point is to teach you to plan and not just charge in, its always the first thing i do so i'm surprised to hear that someone had trouble with it
Also, fuck the quests in this game. Apart from all the instant fail ones if you progress the main quest (which is just utter bullshit), actually finding the damn things is a total fucking bitch without a guide.
Im still enjoying this game, but holy fuck is it an unpolished mess in every regard.
Poison helps on big things, where the fight goes on long enough that it can actually add up to something decent, but it's not going to do a whole hell of a lot on its own.
You can go through the ogre tunnel if you really don't want to fight the ones on the hill. Not that you'd be able to figure out how to get past ogres if you can't figure out how to get past a dude with a one handed sword and shit reach.
Is this game pretty short? Apparently the main quest is split into 7 "parts" and I'm on the 6th at only about 16 hours and barely any of the map uncovered. Deny Salvation and The Final Battle are apparently the next quests for me
Whats that message about "keeping darkness at bay" when it gets dark?
I know it tells me to light the lantern, but I do notice that the screen gets progressively darker if I dont have the lantern lit.
will anything actually happen to me if I dont light the lantern?
Is there a way to turn off that shit where in the middle of battle time slows down and camera shifts to my pawn yelling something like "Fire is effective!" or grabs a guy and says "Now is the time to strike!"
Its really, really annoying.
Stat growth doesn't matter, items give you much more stats than levels and min maxing will shave maybe a minute or two off a fight at the very end BBI post-game on hard, its a waste of time.
There is a difference between a game being challenging and a game being poorly designed
Putting important quest lines without signposting them in any way that you can utterly fail is shit game design. It doesnt need a fucking exclamation mark but it should become apparent to the player that if you dont do the quest you are going to miss out on important shit.
Physics are deceitful here, Arisen!
Are there any more instructions like this one?
I have zero imagination or creativity to create my Arisen.
It's both enjoyable and frustrating seeing people complaining about enemies being able to fuck their shit up. Funny, that was always fun in RPGs for me - made things more unpredictable. Recent RPGs are boring since I know the game won't really let me be at risk. God forbid these guys ever play Gothic.
>about to block an attack from a cyclops
>suddenly cinematic cam activates
>pawn is holding a tiny half dead goblin screaming
>as the slowmo pans and zooms into them the screen flashes red and my corpse flies into frame
Are you really going to try and tell me that one guy having 4 levels on you is going to have some superior advantage? Guys got like 20 attack/defense from those levels at BEST. Plenty of valid strategies have been posted by now - get over it.
It gets really dark, you shouldn't have any real issues though.
But when endgame starts, just never leave town at night or these niggers will come for you.
>Has a warrior pawn that can literally solo every bandit in South Gransys without even being healed at level 10
>Still can't beat them
Man just refund your purchase and play something else.
So you can see why being lvl 10 and lvl 14 means jack shit >>324224296
A 4 level difference isn't what stopped those people from completing that area. You are shit and just want an excuse to try and say you aren't shit, just shitty game design.
Does anyone else feel that when enemies get killed with the charge arrow shot that they go flying much farther than in the console versions?
I could have sworn that wolves didn't fucking fly 3 miles when killed by one before, but my memory is kinda hazy.
>get to the end boss
>kill the end boss
There's your one important quest.
Everything that needs to be done to reach this point is clearly laid out in the game.
Everything else that isn't isn't required.
You didn't save Quina and now she's some horribly mangled bloody dismembered mess laying at the bottom of some ditch in the woods? Too bad.
The final phase of the game is focused on fighting big monsters and getting better equipment.
There's also BBI which is a ton of new content you're meant to run through twice.
You can just do a new game + for whatever you miss out on, it's not like there are any game crippling decisions you can make here.
Also, just fucking manually save from time to time. Holy shit it's not that difficult of a concept.
>friend gives me a copy of Gothic II
>" it's sorta like Morrowind, kinda, a little. "
>woo let's get out of this tower
>DIE HORRIBLY TO THE VERY FIRST ENEMY
Man, those games don't fuck around.
>You didn't save Quina and now she's some horribly mangled bloody dismembered mess laying at the bottom of some ditch in the woods? Too bad.
That is a prime example of how shitty the quests are, so thanks for proving my point for me.
NPCs only roam at certain times of day, he's like midday-ish if I recall.
It's pretty clear that entire area is optional exploring/challenge before you go to gran soren.
That's what I was thinking, just wondering if others had seen similar stuff.
Pretty funny though if you get it just right since the right shot will make things skyrocket off into the sunset.
Reminder that if your Mage pawn doesn't have Anodyne he's not getting hired.
>Also, just fucking manually save from time to time. Holy shit it's not that difficult of a concept.
in his defense fast traveling is supposed to manually save but doesnt often. Iv had it save right after i fast travel and other times not at all. Capcom always fucks up saving. Also
>1 save slot
I did that quest twice (pirated and non pirated), first time he didn't ask for money, then I bought the land from fornival, on the steam release I paid him 30k and had no option for that.
I may just be insane though.
Nope, sorry. GIT (fucking) GUD.
Only fight I've really staggered on in this game was running across a drak (or dragon or something) when wandering around in the woods at a lowish level like an idiot. That and fighting the floating salvation dickheads
right before the dragon tells you you're unworthy. Those guys wrecked my shit a bit.
You're going to look fucking retarded for a while, but eventually you're going to look cool as hell. Like DEUS VULT cool.
>That is a prime example of how shitty the quests are, so thanks for proving my point for me.
So because you can't complete it in that run and it's shitty?
And literally any quest that leads to finding and killing the dragon is a side quest.
Took me a while but I finally found a good one m8, just gotta keep an eye out for those ornate chests.
>your in/actions have effects in the world
>this is bad
2 strength growth is exceptionally shitty, magick defence is useless to me because I very rarely get hit by magick in the first place.
So I got the port crystal or whatever the fuck its called
I can just place them anywhere on the map and i can teleport there if i have a ferrystone is that correct? I dont want to waste it
Okay, hello magick archers who want to use their daggers, the first daggers you get in BBI have 1000 strength on them unupgraded, but you'll probably get the final daggers in the game before you reach BBI which have about 500 strength on them unupgraded at around level 40-50.
By that point in the game, if you were min-maxing you'd have about 60 more strength than if you gimped your character on purpose. That 60 strength is largely meaningless, I'm sorry autists.
Are you saying the game is quiet? If so that's your headphone's fault and you're not driving them properly.
Or you just have gay men headphones like an idiot.
I can make the game ear piercing if I want to.
Then use magic knives? Get a pawn for regular enchants? Stick to the utility skills? Deal with doing slightly less damage on a couple of your attacks? There's plenty to work with.
Keep playing and you get better/cooler looking shit. Your stuff is kind of just mixed shit for a certain amount though.
You can pick them up and move them at any given time, so don't worry about wasting them. Also check your storage once you get to gran sorren, they give you the eternal ferrystone. If you don't want to use that you can buy the things from Fornival or the Black Cat for pretty cheap.
Whose grave is this? Its relatively hard to reach and secluded so it must be important
Futa was literally invented by console gaming. Poison was the original futa.
>Thinks it's the level of the person I'm calling out
You can pick them back up at any point in time.
I actually just keep one on my person as a way to go to Gran Soren, dump my loot, and then just port back to where I was, pick up the stone, and continue my journey.
A good pair of headphones could still make it perfectly playable, or even too loud.
I think it's mostly how they can swarm you with numbers and pull other groups in on you. Get hit by the guys with the shields is pretty much an instant death. If you take the quest as soon as you're notified of it you and all your pawns you can pull from are completely shit. You can't do the quest later apparently.
You can take the quest at night but then you'll be fighting never ending packs of wolves. It's possible to just run by them if you aren't having any success.
>Get on ballista
>Barely get a chance to aim before the other ballistas blow it up
>Let soldiers in
>Fighting two cyclops a dozen goblins with fire bolts raining down
>Captain dies in a single minute
>"Return to report your failure"
>Think I'll just reload and kill the cyclops first before letting the soldiers in
>Return to main menu to reload latest save because for some reason you can't fucking do it in game
>It autosaved after I opened the gate
>Loading from last checkpoint takes me back to Gran Soren, eliminating 2-3 hours of game time
>Haven't touched it since
Glad I pirated this. I mean I was somewhat enjoying it, but there's too many "what, why?" moments for me to understand why people praise this game so much. Seems like it could have been a great game
>And then they play too far into the main quest and get the failure notification for the one that led them into this situation.
Sometimes you fail. It's not the end of the world.
>wanted to make myself a tall lust lioness of a woman and pawn a teenage protege whom i molest
>accidentally make her a loli and am not as tall as i thought id be
fuck why can't they have like a scale in the character creator so you can actually tell how tall/short you're making someone
Good to know this game is incomplete then and its compulsory to use the wiki to play it. 10/10 Capcom
I seriously dont understand what point you are trying to make, I love DD, but the entire quest system is utter shit and thats just a fact.
>still wants the game to lay everything out for him like he's some baby who can't explore and find things for himself
>this is the game's fault because it's not coddling him every step of the way
You're going to get Aelinore killed later.
I had so many plans for a dark elf harem and then I remembered you can only make one of your own
What bandits? The two groups on the way to witchwood are nothing special. Now that other large group to the west of the actual entrance, near the keep is the real problem. I was lvl 23 and they killed me easily. But that was after I've finished witchwood so you don't even need to fight them at the first place.
>is there a fast travel mod yet?
Casual, you unlock fast travel points as you beat the game and get
port crystals and ferry stones
Your casual cause you didn't bother trying to finish the game first and find out shit like that.
>>still wants the game to lay everything out for him like he's some baby who can't explore and find things for himself
Third times the charm, you missed the point AGAIN
Seriously, get some reading comprehension, not going to waste my time on someone who wont even respond with relevant posts.
absolutely, but i usually game while also on team speak and listening to music on youtube, and the volume isnt balanced for being one of multiple audio sources. still a great game though
>all these years later
>it's still people crying about fast travel and missable quests
>yfw your pawn perfect blocks an enemy for the first time
People have been spoiled by Skyrim and GTA.
>I want the game to hold my hand and tell me the quests I need to do
If you can't determine what looks like a an important quest
something that will help you find and kill the dragon
And what looks to be a character relationship building quest
Which is just about every side quest in the game
you deserve to be beaten by the bandits before witchwood and then cry about losing to them cause you are garbage.
Yes and no. Most big mobs will proably still one shot so get gud but Im at a point where I can walk through most blows. Get the warriors support skill that makes melee attacks hurt less.
Stupid people maybe, yeah. That sort of environment where you don't 100% everything all the time is what I've always wanted in a game. 100%ing an rpg is garbage. What role were you playing that you were perfect all the time? Where you succeeded in everything you did? That's not playing a role, that's playing... god, or messiah or something. You fail. Tough shit. That's part of everyone's role in life.
>they don't let me win
Fuck games that let you win. That's not a game. That's just charity.
This game isn't even the perfect example of that. The repercussions aren't felt as strongly as I would personally life, but it's a step in the right direction.
I've been enjoying it blind. Why would I ruin it with a wiki? If I fail or miss a quest, I live with it. It's pretty obvious which ones need to get done and which ones are whenever you come by it.
i wanted to be an amazon but not a freak of nature
i thought all the way left was loli so i chose off that
i didn't realize all the way left was literally fucking dwarf
how 2 fix
Lol no, I didnt.
Go play a real RPG with actual consequences and actual choices, come back here, and tell the quests are well done in DD.
This is your last you since im pretty convinced you are just going to keep being retarded rather than coming up with a valid point.
>Pawn screams off-screen "NONE MAY TOUCH THE ARISEN"
>Charge arrow out of fucking no where
>Knocks me out of the monster's grasp
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtilBmwDUNQ starts playing
>I dont like 100% so no one should be able to
not him but thats terrible logic and you know it thats like me saying you should not be able to switch your class because i dont like anything other than the starting classes
Most games have absolutely disgustingly sound quality on high though. On my headset I almost always have to put the windows volume for specific games down to somewhere around 2%-10% to be tolerable.
DDDA is where it should be right at the start.
>people on /v/ are literally triggered by a game being more difficult than they think it should be
The times they are a-changin'
Rate me, please. Arisen on the right, Pawn on the left.
Would you hire this Amazon to protect you?
I've read from a few things that starting as a mage you're really weak, is it that bad? I just wanna magic people
you literally play as god in dragons dogma
Not as a perfect god.
And all you do is perpetuate an eternal circle and the only way out and breaking the circle is to kill yourself
