Her portrayal was fine, the character was just poorly written.

If you're gonna have a character who doesn't speak you have to have them establish their character and traits in certain ways. She has a few of these moments but they're few and far between. Her character not being properly expanded upon ties in with another of the game's major problems, that being Mother Base and how fucking sterile and empty it is.

You never get to hang out with Quiet. Talk with her, even if she can't talk about. This ties in with ANOTHER problem, probably the biggest in the entire game, that being that VENOM NEVER TALKS. By the end of the game Quiet has spoken about the same amount as Venom. That right there is fucked up. You never feel like you've grown closer to Quiet, no matter what some fucking sterile "affection meter" tells you. All of a sudden in Chapter 2 she just uncharacteristically does things for seemingly no reason. A Quiet Exit should be the high point, the end of a friendship and love forged through hardship and effort between both parties. Instead it feels like one of the only actual glimpses you get at Quiet as a character.

People complain about the "rain" cutscene a lot but I loved it. The range of emotions both her and Venom go through over the course of the whole thing is some of the most refreshing in the entire game, creepy sex stuff notwithstanding.

Like the rest of the game she should and could have been so much more. It's really sad.
