Both of those were conceptual entities. Cloud of Darkness is a fundamental force representing its namesake (its counterpart being the Flood of Light, who the Dark Warriors defeated in FFIII's past), while IV's was the manifestation of a moon man's butthurt.

In the majority of Final Fantasy games, the final boss is someone who became very powerful through magic, usually a human (Tough we've seen a tree and an alien). The exception would be Final Fantasy XIII, the in the first game you fight A God and in the last game you fight The God. In some games, there are actually hints to either God or A God, which you don't fight. In Final Fantasy 1 and 7, there are churches, tough we don't know what God they are from, but both of these games' final boss is a human who became powerful through magic (And a bit of science in Sephiroth's case).
In the majority of Dragon Quest games, the final boss is usually a demon. Sometimes the demon is A God, like DQ2's final boss is the God of Destruction, however even in those cases, it is never The God. In Tales of games, the final boss is usually someone with powerful magic, often from a non-human race who looks human anyway and even when the religion is evil, it's not evil because it's god is evil because there was no god to begin with.

I'm just going to stop here, I haven't played all those games.
To call all of them "God", you'd have to have multiple definitions of the word God. The definition you'd use to call Sephiroth a God would have to be fundamentally different than the one used to call Corvus a god. So either Sephiroth or Corvus is a god, not both; whichever definition you use would not apply to the other. Therefore "God is a final boss" only becomes a trope because you change the definition of God to apply to whichever character you're currently talking about. If you stick to one definition, it stops making sense.
How can Corvus be a god when God is actually a different character? You'd have to make the definition of God be something like "All divine beings are gods." But then, none of the other bosses I quoted except maybe Necron is a divine being. By sticking to one definition of God, then it invalidates most of the other bosses as being gods, therefore "Final boss is God" is no longer a troper since it only applies to a few games.
The only other way to call all of them boss is to have one definition of God that is so vast, so vague, that the definition would end up also describing minor bosses, playable characters and NPCs. At that point, what's the point of even saying it? Might as well say "Final boss is a living being" is a trope.
