Why the fuck does everything take years and years to fucking murder in this game? It's absolutely tedious to try and whack the shit out of something for 15 minutes and do little to no damage.
Dragons Dogma had so much potential.
>He doesn't know how to lure it over the edge
>He doesn't know that it's vulnerable while on the ground
You should uninstall that game and play KoAR instead.
>Why the fuck does everything take years and years to fucking murder in this game? It's absolutely tedious to try and whack the shit out of something for 15 minutes and do little to no damage.
You're for a treat if they ever decide to localize DDOnline :^)
To me the side quests are actually engaging and makes me want to do them. I don't just skip over the side quests because I'm eager to see what I'm lead to next. I can't say the same about DD really. Doesn't mean I won't play it (I'm playing KoAR and DDDA both right now), but I'm enjoying KoAR exponentially more than DDDA at this moment.
You should try something a little more your speed OP, like staring at a wall or banging rocks together. If you're too retarded to 1) Smack it on the eye 2) Smack it while it's on the ground, or 3) make it run over the edge,I'm not sure you should be allowed to post on the internet, much less give your pointless opinion on something you tried for 30 seconds
>go up the hill with the boulder after the encampment
>get literally 1-shot by a single bandit
great game design
You're in no place to judge both games if you haven't even finished them. KoA has really bad combat when compared to DD and the world manages to be even emptier, while DD has some really unique areas, KoA has no such thing. Plus KoA is really generic fantasy, DD seems like the same at first glance but it actually represents classic folklore monsters like few games do.
>escort yo boi the merchant from town to outpost
>2 skelly death knight thing
I bought the best gear I could find.
Sorry, but it's really shitty design if you have to jump around like a retard playing bullet hell just to avoid getting 1-shot by a regular enemy that also guard breaks shields in a single hit.
People suck this game's dick too much.
Approximately how many stories involving cyclops have ended with the hero killing it with a blow to the eye? Jesus Christ people, this is fantasy 101 here
>Should I attack the cyclops' single, vulnerable eye? Nah, let's hack at these fat legs until it keels over
>A cockatrice? Pfft, what a stupid looking creature! What's this smoke going to do, give me lung cancer? Hah
>A wolf? Well, it's just one, so I should be able to handle it easily
Only your main pawn does. you don't need to replace them every single level. They'll still be useful for at least 5 levels. Or you can just purchase pawns 2-3 levels above your then you can get 10 or so levels with them.
I've beat the game already (pirate), unless you're playing hard mode, you should never get one hit by anything. You're in the wrong god damn area. This is why casual ass games that scale sell well. Fuck this board.
I am playing on Hard and that ogre had like 1/4th of his last bar when the fight started. The hydra fight ended abruptly after also about 1/4th of a bar was gone. These fights took one or two minutes. Is my game broken or are you people complete shitters?
I couldn't get past those boulder bandits trying to get to Quina so I figured I needed to go to the main city first. I got there and went to the pawn guild/got some new armor and I ran the everfall. Suddenly I find out I lost the quest to help Quina which was complete bullshit because the game keeps saying 'if you find yourself stuck on a quest do another one it might help' every time there's a loading screen. Yet they didn't mention doing quests locks you OUT of other quests...
I was following the quest where I have to rescue that irrelevant whore you meet in the fishing village, and my pawn told me to "check out whats down that path", and so I did.
There's literally no excuse for an enemy 1-hit killing you so early in the game. There was absolutely zero build up in difficulty, it's like I transitioned from starting area to end game just from walking up a hill.
You DD fags are petty as fuck, I really can't understand how you can defend such a shitty design choice. Refunding this dog shit game.
The Bandits shouldn't be one hitting you, and here is a hint.
You can avoid them easily. The forest is an area with lower difficulty enemies than the bandits and provides you with good early game loot
The reason why those bandits are so hard is because they're a deterrent
Congratulations, you actually failed at being an Arisen. That is literally a plotpoint you proved.
>Dragons Dogma had so much potential.
You don't even know..
Guess why open world travel is shit? The game was designed so originally you would grip giant snakes and flying creatures to get around the world, learning migrations of these giant things to know where you were going.
The storyline used to have like 5 more choices than what we got in the end. You were supposed to go to the moon and fight new creatures there too.
>lost to the bandits
people do this shit?
im over at bittlerblack using rook, my pawn and me at level fucking 3 destroying goblins and wolves for some delicious exp and even i dont get one shotted.
Majority of the enemies at the start of the game you just have to run past.
Don't even bother trying to fight the literal cohort of bandits that are in your way to the witchwood.
10/10 game design.
It's a fun game but is let down in so many places.
>Go to BBI at level 40
>see cyclopes with flaming club
>use Lyncean Sight and three shot it in the eye
>Try to do the same with a gransys one
>Doesn't take off more than 10% health
I'm not that anon, but are you autistic or something? There is no indication that the quest can't be done after going to the city, people would go to the city first because the bandits are retardedly hard.
>Literally 90% of the combat IS mashing Attack and jump
>Because of the weight of the attacks, still the most satifsying swordplay in forever.
There is your problem. DD doesn't enjoy this idea of "Branching paths in the same direction"
The Bandits you're trying to fight are supposed to be tough enemies for a level 14-15 person in decent armor going for another quest focused around the castle the bandits have holed up in.
Running around them is easily the best choice, this isn't Skyrim, sometimes discretion is the greater part of valor friend, running away and living is better than dying.
The game LITERALLY tells you if you're struggling with a quest to do another one and come back to it. I did two other quests and suddenly I can't go back to it? I hate it when games have pointless lock outs.
>people saying you have to run away from the bandits at the beginning
>people getting fucked by bandits at the beginning
how? fucking how? you can literally solo these assholes before level 10. how shit do you guys have to be? are you even paying attention to whats happening?
That was my main gripe with the game
Doesn't even matter if you're on easy mode
Everything in the game is a health sponge and it's fucking tiresome
Hard mode wasn't even hard it was just boring, it's not very fun dodging the same attack animations for 20 minutes
I can understand some people's concerns about overworld content since they haven't seen BBI or everfall yet, but OP and everyone complaining about "hp sponges" must have downs.
This isn't even a hard game folks.
I crept past the bandits and finished the quest in the forest . What loot are you talking about? The only enemies in the forest were wolves amd spiders and aside from spider venom I didn't get shit.
Srill walking around in starting cloth gear and some slightly less shitty daggers I bought from a blonde bimbo, who by the way had bigger tits than the ones available in character generation.
>playing the end-game dungeons on the PS3 release
>character is a tiny old man support wizard with very few attacks
>have to find a beholder alone
>literally an intense, 50 minute fight
I won in the end. Probably the most satisfied I've felt in a video game.
yeah i can tell you didn't explore shit. if you around the edges of the witchwood you'll find a good number of chests. hell there's even one below the stairs to selene's treehouse.
Every game has so much potential during concept and early production stage. You're a literal retard if you believe it's realistic potential. Actual faggots with no idea how software development works.
I don't remember dying and crying about it so much when I first played the game.
Maybe only when I faced Matt Daimon.
Are people, on the videogame board nonetheless, really so bad at videogames?
No it fucking isn't, every enemy in the game has a certain weakness, being it a body part or just elemental/physical weakness. Literally kill yourself for shitposting this hard.
There's a difference between irrational scope and content cuts due to limitations.
These limitations just happened to be because of consoles.
And it's even evident as DD runs like absolute shit on consoles.
Get better pawns, they don't level up with you like your main pawn does.
Get better gear. You're kinda limited here since gear is kept behind main story quest progression. Though there are drops that can be more powerful.
Get better skills, see the inkeep and spend that discipline.
Enhance your gear, all that random crap you pick up from defeated foes? Stick it in storage and use it to get as much gear to 3 stars as you can. This greatly improves their stats and makes them lighter, weapons being the priority.
Exploit weaknesses, every monster has it's own vulnerabilities. Cyclops for example are pretty vulnerable to electric damage, hitting their legs can topple them and their eyes are a weak spot with almost no defence.
Ogres are covered in flammable fur and are susceptible to poison, their face is a weakspot and when they are on their back they have little defence.
Just fight smart. You sit a mile back plinking away with normal arrow shots and no shit it's gonna take forever.
DAILY REMINDER TO FIX YOUR PAWNS INCLINATIONS THE VERY SECOND YOU HAVE THE RIFT CRYSTALS TO DO SO. IT WILL INCREASE THEIR EFFICIENCY TENFOLD. IF YOU PAWN IS GUARDIAN/MEDICANT, FIX THAT SHIT. IT LEADS TO A GARBAGE TIER RENTAL.
Well I couldn't see shit because it was so dark. Also the thick fog and twisting tunnels made it look like one of those "stray too far off course and you go back to the beginning" type mazes.
Well, the cave you directly use to get out of Witchwood contains a greatsword.
But I can see you're going to be fucked in DD with this zero initative.
Shit, I bet you haven't even got the fire sword.
It's not even a question, shitloads of the complaints are from people who have blatantly never played a RPG without level scaling before.
This is the "PC master race" on /v/, folks, Skyrimbabies.
get pawns that will protect you or either go out to attack the enemies while you stay back and get ready to cast. also if you get the shit knocked out of you, then use one or two ogre bones, to stay standing. also if you get pawns with utilitarian and the same spells as you, you can multicast spells to get them out way faster than solo and with more power.
This happens literally every time a console exclusive comes out on PC
Happened with Dark Souls too
I'm sure if Red Dead ever came out on PC there'd be dozens of threads like "WTF I CAN'T WRANGLE THE COWS BRO THE FUCK STUPID CONSOLE SHIT"
at the entrance of the map during the quina quest they show this glowing little circle thing that you can attack. quina even says something about you destroying them. if you get rid of them, the fog starts dissapearing from the areas they were in. eventually you can remove them all from the map clearing any and all fog.
What's up with this Quina quest? Does it have a time limit before it becomes unavailable or does it stop being available after you do a certain quest or what? Because I'm talking to Adaro here and he's not giving me a quest.
How does the scaling work for party size. My party bugged out and alone i could easily killed enemies with a couple of hit that took me way more before.
Should i bother with the fourth party member i do not really need or should i just go with a three man party?
Climb on his back and attack his head/neck area. Drop down, recover your stamina, then do it again. If you have ranged or magic, attack his eye.
Literally every monster in the game has weaknesses you can exploit to kill them swiftly. If you just spam attacks at their shins like a fucking moron, of course it's going to take forever to kill them.
You being pants-on-head retarded doesn't make the game bad.
The drakes, wyrms Abd wyverns are my favorite enemies in the base game, each one represents a base starting class because they were all human in the past.
Now to killing the Drake on devilfire Grove. If you are a ranges class shoot at his heart while he is in the air preparing to breathe fire, if you ate rolling melee pop some demon periapts qnd hammer his heart until it breaks.
Also, he's pretty much a midboss tiver enemy, dont sweat if youre having a hard time
>tfw went into the cave near Gran Soren and got the quest to open the gate and clear the monsters
>tfw I have to beat 3 giants
Jesus they're kicking my ass
in a matter of speaking yes. if you go forward with the story too far the quest is failed and removed from your quests. this can have negative effects on future quests for you.
> Shitty game design.
Well, every enemy has a weakness, and if I found an enemy too hard, I'd try to debilitate it first. The game provides you with a lot of items that inflict status effects, and unlike traditional turn-based rpg's you're free to move around and evade attacks.
As I said, I only thought that Daimon was kinda bullshit with him roundhousekicking my face and sending my pawns into oblivion, but then again I was playing a warrior against him and I was kinda fucked. So it was all a matter of gitting gud and exploiting his weaknesses.
In resume, if you suck less, maybe you'll enjoy it more.
Nah, the other's Dragon Dogma thread is also wrecked by "game's too hard." Hell, one anon ragequit at the very first chimera and then called the game bad.
Shit's almost hilarious if not depressing.
>The Quina quest closes as soon as you finish the caravan I think.
Jesus fucking Christ that's dumb. I really, really don't want to start a new game for this shit but I know for a fact that that will frustrate the shit out of me for the rest of my playthrough. An off-hand comment by an NPC that doesn't even give you the quest is not a good indicator that you need to go all the way back to the starting village in order to pick up the quest.
I didn't actually think the quality of a DD thread could reach these levels of garbage. They were actually right when they said these threads would turn to shit when PC got the game.
I'm just now trying to lay siege to the capture castle full of goblins and cyclops, fuck my life.
Fuck, my fucking life.
FUCKITYFUCKFUCK. This shit is FUCKED.
Managed to get the door open, managed to survive long enough to get told to chase down the goblin chief, only to meet yet another cyclops that pushed both my pawns off the castle wall to their death.
Like any good Arisen, I chased down after them to my own death as well.
Really sucks, I hate fleeing, I hate running like a bitch.
I want to kill these assholes but its nearly impossible between everything going on and having babysit the pawns.
Am I just going to randomly fail this quest as well if I just keep fleeing till I meet up with the chief?
If you're all seriously this fucking bad, go back to Cassardis and buy some throwblasts/dragon's spit. That shit will wreck pretty much anything you're having issues with. If you want, friend someone who is actually good and rent their pawn for free.
>thread is literally perfectly fine
>console faggots entering the thread
>WOAH THESE THREADS ARE SO SHIT GUYS LMAO WHERES THE LOLIS
Fuck off you garbage shit poster.
No one forces you to be here.
It's not an extremely demanding quest, but it's a good indicator of how Dragon's Dogma does things.
If you want to enjoy everything in this game, explore and talk to people and take every hint possible.
Yup. I guessed it too.
I figured the game would be too difficult and lo' and behold. Now I'm wondering just how bad a reception Monster Hunter would get on PC if it was ever slated for western release.
>why does my secondary weapon do less damage than my primary weapon
>why dont arrows go through thick ogre skin
Climbing enemies is one of the selling points of the game, its gonna make you do it.
But the hint in no way even implies that you need to go back to Cassadia. The hint is "She's in the forest, I hope she's okay" or something like that. I figured I could just head into the forest and find her, not "go back where you came from and talk to the old man there and THEN you can look in the forest".
Ignore the console nigger. It's just retarded confirmation bias. A couple guys shitpost like they do in any other thread but retarded console niggers like this guy >>324181172 pick on a couple posts to confirm their notion that a game on PC gets bad discussion.
Actually the quest says "Where the fuck is Quina, does her old man know maybe?"
So yes, it actually does tell you.
Also it gives you a fucking indicator on the map man.
It gives you a fucking quest marker.
I can't wait to see the whining when people try to do A Fortress Besieged.
Two Cyclops, a shitload of goblins and three ballista shooting exploding bolts at you.
Also they don't work with m+KB controlsthen another fight with an armoured Cyclops on top of some ramparts where it's very easy to get punted off to your doom.
>end game mage skills
only game to ever make me feel like a truly powerful magic user
just did that fucking quest, the two cyclopes would be fine by themselves but those god damned balistae kept killing my pawns till I hugged the far wall like a bitch
also I just knocked that armored one off the ledge
>Tfw killing the chained goreclops at level 40 hard mode because you can pawn sync maelstroms on it
WHAT A GAFFE
>pick on a couple posts
Have you not been following the threads? Because holy shit it's FAR more than just a "couple of posts." It's enough to where I doubt DD is going to be able to be discussed without it being shitposted into the dirt.
I just got done doing this, shot the first cyclops to death with the ballista after shooting the other 2 ballistae, then the goblins open the gate so you can just run past the other 2 cyclops and kill the chieftan
all my pawns died though
>Cyclops on top of some ramparts where it's very easy to get punted off to your doom.
Seriously just had this happen to me. Well, to my pawns at least. It's really not that bad if you just keep moving, but christ the pawns are dumb as a rock.
Pretty sure it uses a quest marker for going to talk back at the old man.
A yellow one.
Hell, a super prepared one could probably hit 2 mins
>First hour spent grinding BB isle for loot and EXP
>Unlock door to get OP fire bow
>Spend all the gold on blast arrows
>Finish quests in seconds, blow up the griffon before it flies away to save 45mins off the game time.
The hidden systems in this game are kinda shit though.
I gave so many gifts to the qt blonde shop keeper and that emo bog witch was still picked
plus i cant for the life of me get that delicious brown knight to stay
> each one represents a base starting class because they were all human in the past.
And I love how they all have different personalities that can be seen from the little dialogue they have.
The drake is proud and mighty, Wyvern is arrogant and dickish and the Wyrm is Wise and Calm.
Seriously though, shitposting aside what is the weak point for the sword and shield guys? Pawns don't say anythng useful and there has to be a way to kill them besides death by a quintillion cuts.
Why do people dislike long battles? In any case, we should hate fights that end in 2-3 minutes do to how stupidly weak enemies are. I would understand if hitting in this game had no weight behind it, but you gotta love how a strong attack makes everything tremble and sends enemies flying.
Did you try, you know, setting it as your target quest? It will show you markers for the quest you are actually tracking. Go into the quest/mission section of the menu and see.
1.penalty for using weapon's with very high stats destroy your stamina
2.you have to do the caravan quest which takes a few minutes to complete
3.you have to walk and talk with the king. takes about a minute or so.
Throw a woman off the cliff.
Every enemy type has their own rules and weaknesses. Listen to your pawns they give hints on what those are.
Is everyone in this thread playing on hard mode or what? I'm playing through on normal with mystic knight, 2 mage and 1 ranger pawn and I breeze through almost every fight. Does the game get harder or did I fuck up by not going hard mode?
that was probably your fault, but this game design is absolutely awful.
i've played several games (risen for example) where enemy level scalling didn't hand hold the player and therefore you could sometimes face thougher enemies - but you would know before fighting them because a.) they would be in a high level place where the enemies would get tougher at every single fight OR b.) their height/armor/aesthetics in general would imply they were strong - none of those exists in this game: you can be fighting enemies weaker than you, then after a wrong turn you might be fighting satan himself.
but it's a weeb game published by capcom so you this type of problems were pretty much impossible not to exist.
I failed it after reaching Gran Soren not knowing it would close that soon. Kind of bullshit considering when I went and tried to complete it earlier the later packs of bandits on that road were unexpectedly too hard and killed my whole party. I assumed the sudden difficulty spike meant I wasn't supposed to be there yet so I turned around. I'm going to just restart from the beginning I guess.
1. Nigga I will carry no less than half of Granysys full of tonics and meat, fuck your stamina loss.
2. punch the cow in the dick, it moves faster
3. Nigga ain't that slow.
All of that time and more is saved simply preppring to one hit the griffin.
Blue tower is literally a 5th of the game at least.
>Game reminds you that THERE'S NO SHAME IN RUNNING every other loading screen
>You still don't understand that sometimes you just have to run
Around level 15-20 those bandit chiefs become a lot easier but they can still combo your shit
Just git gud.
This game gets a large boost in fun when you always kill by tossing over the edge whenever possible. Sure you lose some materials, but damn it's satisfying to see a wolf fall down a cliff and crack it's head on a rock only to slide down it and have the brine take it away
It's beautiful. The tears are real.
>v told you warrior isn't fun
>warrior is really fucking fun
If you want to minmax MK is best as fighter to 10, Assassin/warrior to 40, Sorcerer to 100.
But the stat gains by levels are tiny compared to stat gains through armor and weapons.
You might find it beautiful.
I just find it depressing.
I remember that I sucked at the game at first when I played it but once you get your hands on some decent skills and wrap your head around the combat system it's really hard to die unless you go in over your head. I can go as far as to say this game is completely doable without Pawns, especially as an Assasin.
>WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS
Is that really how hard mode works? That doesn't sound
funeither. I guess I'll just keep on playing on normal cause I really don't feel like reseting 9 hours of playing. Also I got a sweet ass mace from a dungeon I don't want to lose.
You niggers know you can latch on to enemies right?
>all these scrubs who will drop the game and never know the joy of immolation + latching onto a griffin and thousand kissing it to death with daggers
>they will never fight death in BBI
Ya I don't understand some of the damage sponge as well OP. Going this my first playthrough on hard as sword n board and everything soaks damage while one shot'ing me if I don't block mid attack. I recently switched to sorcerer and now I poop all over everything so i'm guessing it's just a balance issue.
how do I got gud with archer??? The fucking war pawn and sorcerer is doing way more damage than me. Is archer a bad dps?
I already started all over again after reaching capital, because I saw some guide about missable quests and realized, how much I skipped by simply playing blind.
Now that I have missable content list opened all the time and once again delivered hydra head, can I finally go on some exploration around? Or there is really no point? Im level 13 right now, still as Fighter, with only 5k in pocket.
Also, if I want my main pawn, to cast some healing spell from time to time, do I really need to keep her in mage class forever?
Generally, issues with Hard Mode are that you'll have your ass kicked early game if you're still a low level, but will more quickly outpace enemies than in Normal. You're fine either way.
When MGR came out on PC there was a ton of people complaining about not being able to cut the metal gear chunks Armstrong threw at you. PC only gamers are so stupid they can't even align a line across three squares in slow motion.
So /v/ I really love magic in DD but one of the most cool things about this game is climbing the giant monsters and smash them, archery is also good.
While magic is great I kinda can't stand staying back and let my pawn tank while I do the casting shit, should I just go with magick archer?
>He didn't learn Dragon's Maw as a Fighter
Literally unstoppable anon.
Grab a healer pawn from offline.
If you don't like fighter change vocation.
Yes you can explore I suggest going near the rivers or in the underground pass.
dark souls 2
dark souls 2: scholar of the first sin
dark souls 3
apart from late game bosses, most things die quickly
and the combat is engaging and not shit
I think he meant the shitposting. I didn't believe this shit because I've played PC mainly for quite a while, but I don't know anymore. It could be salty console poorfags, or it could genuinely be neckbeards here bitching that they die and therefore the game is bad.
>ARTIFICIAL DIFFICULTY, WHY DOES MY HUNTER HAVE TO FLEX AFTER HE HEALS IT'S FUCKING RETARDED
>MOVEMENT IS SO FUCKING STIFF THIS GAME IS SO BAD HUAHUA
>WOW NICE "GAME" FAGGOTS I SURE DO LOVE GRINDING ALL DAY WHILE THEY CAN KILL ME IN 2 HITS
>skyrim baby literally dumber than a pawn
Tis weak to fire arisen.
You have oil, you have dragon's spits
Set the thing on fire.
>Pick archer mage
>get holy lighthouse arrow
I forgot that feel, jesus christ.
Reminder not to use this cloak unless you like having your pawn's inclinations shift to Nexus.
>game comes out on pc
I wonder why no one in the media has complained all the weird stuff you can do in this game
like making out and fucking a loli npc, or make your loli pawn wear a string bikini
First time playing this, are these good Inclinations for a melee 2hander pawn?
Here were your options:
>Do the other quests around town, complete as much of the bulletin as you can, and explore the well to level yourself up
>Once you're capped out on things to do, tackle each set of bandits in small chunks
>Prepare yourself before each encounter, instruct your Pawns when to heal, when to fall back around you, and when to attack
>Keep banging your head against the wall until you eventually progress all the way through
>Run past everything
>Experiment, try again at night to find that the Bandits all return to their keeps, and instead you'd have to deal with much more manageable wolf packs
Like the other anons said, the bandits function as a wall to deter you from progressing that way until you're actually ready. Either be more crafty, be more adventurous and experiment with different things, or just ignore it. Don't blame the game for trying to organically teach you how to go about certain encounters.
Also, if you just went ahead and followed the main story with the plan to come back later, then the quest would disappear. THAT'S actual bullshit,
Oh, ok. I got it for PC but didn't remember. It's an overall easy game, with a couple of harder fights. Can't believe people were bitching at it. They'd probably kill themselves with Ninja Gaiden.
> You will never fight Grigori on the moon.
> The canonical explanation for the darkened post-game skies will never be that the fucking moon just exploded.
> You will never explore the second half of gransys.
Wasn't the framerate on consoles locked to 30 FPS? I got it some months after release on my PC and loved it and how smooth it was once I got a full screen fix.
Anyone calling it unfair should kill himself, it's one of the easiest action games.
This thread made me realize how I much I hate all of you, less skilled than reddit which is abysmal. Then again, you've always been notoriously bad at games.
What the fuck is wrong with you apes, this is one of the most average games in terms of difficulty and when you read posts about people having to run past basic enemies like bandits you have to wonder what sort of brain damage there is.
>have Ranger pawn
>read about inclinations
>decide on a Challenger/Mitigator/Utilitarian setup
>Utilitarian always winds up the primary after time
>don't even touch d-pad commands
Does high bestiary knowledge cause this?
Happens every time.
>having a blast smashing things down left and right like im Guts
>suddenly run into a metal golem
I wish Warriors had some way to at least throw daggers or knives
It might also have had something to do with those chunks' movements being tied to your framerate, so a slight drop could cause the time freeze to activate when that thing was right in your face and you still had two more QTEs to go.
>To me the side quests are actually engaging and makes me want to do them.
Holy fucking shit how can one man have such shit taste? Amalur's quests were fucking awful.
Granted most of DD's quests are pretty bad too but at least the combat is somewhat interesting and has some semblance of challenge whereas in KoA you overlevel any possible challenge within 2 hours of starting the game.
>People suck this game's dick too much.
It's always this way when a playerbase gets a new game, no one is willing to accept the game's flaws and the only argument they start spouting is your run-of-the-mill gitgud.
There's only one exeption of course, and that's when the game sucks so bad is not even defendable. Obviously this is not the case with DD, but is the game really as good as some faggots in this thread make it out to be? No. I played it on the ps3 and while not being a piece of shit, is not really anything to gasp at, just a really average title. But holy fuck some of the shit you read in this threads is hysterical, especially if count the fact that when it was console-only no one really gave a shit.
The amount of people complaining about health sponge enemies is hilarious
When fighting a cyclops did you ever try climbing it and striking it in the eye?
When fighting ogres did you ever think to use fire?
When travelling the roads, did you ever think where they always seem to lead?
When fighting wolves, did you ever consider that they might hunt in packs?
The only real sponge opponents I've come across were dragons and wyverns but a long fight with them is to be expected
Its not like I dislike fighter, Im still learning how to play properly, right now all I do is using this charge skill, sometimes followed by that "slash + backstep". I dont even block, since my character covers the vision and I still cant get used to block with left alt (inb4 "change keys" - I cant really think of more intuitive one, in Dark Souls, I was using Shift key to block, but here Shift covers running).
I miss dodges/rolling, would save me more than once.
As for pawns, I already use Warrior pawn from Steam friend (Queen dress + HUGE hammer, she send everyone flying), Strider and said main, Mage pawn.
Should I stick to Fighter until I unlock the last rank, before trying other classes? Since Im at level 13, I assume that there is too late for minmaxing anyway.
Just fucking jump and hit him in the face until he falls over
>YOOOOOOO YO YO YO OOOOOOOOUOUO
I allways laugh at the cassardis theme.

How is mystic knight supposed to work? I get that its a mix of a melee fighter and a mage but you still need your staff to cast spells and your melee weapon to use melee skills. So you can't just sling spells on the fly while acting as a swordsman?
Most PC users aren't jaded enough or stupid enough to enter threads they have no business in and just sit around shit posting.
If only the same could be said for retarded peasant consolefaggots.
>no frying into free
what is this HORSE SHIT
>Run into the bandits past the boulder looking for herbs to finish the first quest
>Kill all the normal bandits when suddenly giga nigga from Hell with a shield fucks me and my pawns up
If you don't like blocking, you're not going to enjoy fighter or Mystic Knight, who get great fucking advantages from causing a monster to take a critical block and then follow up with unleashing some serious pain.
Fighter is more like a slow and steady melee character than say the Assassin/strider or the Warrior.
You're not supposed to lose your ground as the Fighter, and the shield skills are pretty valuable for that.
But one of the late skills for the fighter is Dragons maw, a skill with invincibility frames, and alot of damage VERY EFFECTIVE.
I'd rather see people put effort and consideration into their pawns than not, personally. Have fun with it.
> Arc of obliterating the grim reaper.
How often does the orcs, chimeras and griff spawns? Are they random spots or always the same one?
When you read all the posts about "bad design", "artificial difficulty", and shit like that in various games, you have to wonder why filthy casuals are on this board in the first place. As if the fags require Skyrim-tier of retard proof in their games, and even then they have trouble. Some actually didn't know how to "solve" the dragon claw shit.
It fucking blows my mind. Fuck this place.
Mystic Knight is similar to mages and sorcerers where his spells do take a bit of time to conjure.
But the thing is that most are buffs that are meant to augment his or her ability to fight close. And goddamn do those buffs work.
Not random, strange would be more appropriate.
>Even a simple anodyne is enough to drop the fps to 30-35.
>Full 60 inside Gran Soren running around like a madman.
Scared to think about what will happen when I try the infamous 3 magick cannons.
Is that determined by CPU and not GPU? Got an i5 6500 recently and it'd be nice if I could go more than medium.
They're user created sidekicks that are extremely customizable in appearance, AI, AI mannerisms, gear, etc. Without online you cannot access other players' pawns, nor will your pawn have the ability to be rented by other players.
>mfw got tossed off a cliff by the tutorial cyclops
>beginning of the game
>wonders why it takes time to kill giant enemies
PCfags can't be this retarded right?
So I took a quest to go see what's wrong in the everfall and at the bottom was
a portcrystal and what looked like chains meant to hold a big beast.I picked up the item and these tentacles spawned and they kept coming, so I ran. What else is there to do down there?
Not too much until the very end of the game, it used to be the old end game before Dark Arisen released BBI.
Early game though, some money and some random loot and such.
Nothing to fret about.
They're the last two members of your party, you can hire them. If you play online, they're other players main pawns which they create themselves, your main pawn can also be hired and gain quest and enemy knowledge. Offline they're generated procedurally.
>Tutorial cyclops fell off the cliff
I fucking believe it now. I play pc only, and these retards are blowing my mind with how fucktarded they are. I have waited 4 years for this to be released on pc, and its been great so far
>playing Magick Archer on PC with KB+Mouse
Should I play magic archer since the beggining or wait till I have more abilities with archer and sorccerer?
Fight has decent traits.
Really Traits > level stats for characters, early late class traits are a godsend, so I would focus on a vocation type ( the colors ) and use them
I use Left alt because it's also a Menu for the shield skills.
So time the left alt click to when an enemy is attacking, get that sweet critical block, then follow up with some Shield skills.
>chimera appears in the tutorial and you kill the different heads one by one
>run down the everfall and throwing the zombies off the edge because you don't have any fire on hand
>running up to cyclopses and ogres and jumping up and stabbing them in the face
>getting ambushed by a golem and clambering around the weak points
I'm having loads of fun as strider, maybe people are playing the wrong class?
>Everyone has a PC now
>Kids don't know how well said PC will run games
>Everyone bitches about "optimization" thinking it should mean it runs on their mom's 300 dollar ASUS
>These people are also discussing games
And that's why it is this way.
Take a look at Steam's hardware pages if you want proof, the amount of mobile graphics cards in the top percentages is staggering.
>console game finally gets PC release
>first threads are bitching about difficulty
>full female party
>ogre falls off cliff
This nigga was more homo than the BBI ogres.
Is there a way to edit my save easily, i want to add 5000 rift stones. Or someone can take my pawn and give her 5000 RC. I just want to edit my appearance. Well, my pawns actually. She's not good enough
>mfw immolation works on golems
why even play other vocations?
Dragon's Dogma is a game where you have to figure some shit out on your own.
As you do things, your pawn will learn from you.
For example if you climb the cyclops and stab it in the eye you'll down it easily. If you stab his head/neck, you won't do as much. If you sit on the ground slapping his ankles like a fucking retarded mongoloid who has no imagination or lacks the ability to think a little bit then you're going to be there for a long time.
Your pawn will remember things like this, or he'll remember which enemies are weak to certain elements
My pawn for example was a mage that I customized to enchant my sword with whatever elemental weaknesses our enemies had.
Ogres, for example, are weak to fire. If you're shitting the bed against one try dousing it with oil and burning it, or tricking it to charging off a ledge if there's one around
The fact that this is causing so much grief on /v/ just proves how casual this board really is.
Red and yellow vocations are the most fun. Retard blues and their hybrids just love playing ez mode.
So how shitty is my character? I still haven't got around to going to the pawn guild.
>those tendril fuckers under Gran Soren Pawn's Guild
>kicking me ass
>try to git gud
>still kicking me ass
>read in loading tips "don't be afraid to flee"
>LEG IT NIGGER WERE OUTTA HERE
>turns out that's what I was suppossed to do
What the fuck is the main story quest for this game? Is it doing the "Wyrm Hunt" thing? i have reached the big city, right now i'm doing some mission to destroy a goblin fortress, with 2 cyclops bosses and stuff.
Also i was ambushed by a dragon, but ran away because that fucker was too fucking strong.
HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE!
so i'm not the only one who get that 1 (one) immortal bandit spawning near the boulder, to the left after the encampment.
fucking broken game
Getting optimal Magic Archer build means that you don't even get to play it until level 100.
If you don't want to minmax at least get augments from Sorc that gives you 20% more MATK.
Also few levels as Assassin probably doesn't hurt.
There are sort of two builds for Magick Archer.
Either you go burning man mode, with Physical/Magic mix and ride monsters all day.
Or 2hu laser mode.
Burning man benefits from a ton of stamina and shit from the yellow vocations
2hu is pretty much mostly blue.
>weehhhh why can't I just kill him
>what do you mean I'm underleveled amd I shouldn't go there
>fuck you the game's broken, the game should suck my dick all the time
What is a high level enemy doing anywhere near the starting area of a game?
>doing lost and found before moveing the hydra head before it becomes unavailable
>"just go to witchwoods"
>this fucker blocks the way and instakills me and my pawn
im level 20 now but i still cant do damage to him
>So time the left alt click to when an enemy is attacking, get that sweet critical block, then follow up with some Shield skills.
Looks like I would need to keep training then.
Where would be good ground for that, for such low level character?
For a moment I thought I could plug in xbox controller (have one since around year but only played two games and in general consider it bad idea to get one) but at the other hand, one day I could try out Strider class. And aiming with mouse is superior, as everybody knows.
'There's no shame in fleeing an overpowering foe'
dude this guy is bullshit
>Game points out obvious level advancement without killing the Ogre ahead
'There's no shame in fleeing an overpowering foe'
>Fuck this I'm going to post a shitty thread on /v/ because I suck. What a load of bullshit lmao artificial difficulty
It's Dark Souls all over again
You will be able to purchase an item that can change you and your pawns appearance once. Soon after, you can buy another item that can change your appearance and your pawn's an unlimited number of times.
Seriously, play the game you fucking autist. God you PC faggots are so whiny.
So should I be going for an even mix of stats for MK?
I originally wanted to play Ranger, but playing the game above Powerpoint FPS made me want to go back to my one true love. This time with slightly better base stats.
If you're around level 20, I advise going into the underpath mine, you fight two ogres, and if you're really unlucky/stupid fight them at once, but there is terrain to help you and the education into fighting Ogres translates well into fighting everything else.
Otherwise, I'd look at board quests and fill them in.
>what do you mean I'm underleveled amd I shouldn't go there
The first quest after the hydra is to go into the forest just past him though. Add to that all the people complaining said quest fails if you don't do it fast enough so I thought Ibm should head to the forest ASAP.
Do the damage-reducing augments from fighter and warrior stack or have I been wasting augment slots all this time?
Question about my story progress: I just got told to look for the Dragonforged on Hillford Knoll (or whatever the hill with the man drawing was called) and the quest is literally called "Final Boss" or "Fight" or something.
Is this really already the end?
If you literally can't damage him, as in, your hit connects but his health doesn't go down, it's probably a bug. I killed him as a level 8 or so. My pawn grabbed him and I beat the shit out of the nigger.
Okay, I totally forgot about those whole quest boards.
Last question -
does she look cute enough or I should save those RC?
You can pretty much use anything to kill it. But you will lose sweet loot and a really cool quest.
>4 enemy types
How many times does it need to be said? Level up stats account for almost nothing. The difference between min and max is like 15% of a decent BBI weapon. Just play what you want when you want, it's a singleplayer game that isn't even that hard.
If you still want to ruin your own fun to make your numbers more optimal most MK skills scale of strength not magic. Even magic cannon only uses like 40% of your magic stat.
Yeah, this. I don't play games with level scaling ever, but usually RPGs are good at letting you know when an enemy is out of your league. I expect a damage sponge when I see a huge dragon or golem. I don't see why out of a dozen bandits, 11 of them should be weak pussy shits and the 12th is nigh invincible.
Yes, that's the bandit chief. Strong mofo.
But like I said, if there is no damage, shit is bugged. Try another chief later on and hope he was the only buggy one.
Never happened to me and it's the first time I've heard of an immortal bandit though.
Dragon's Dogma is the quintessential example of bullshit /v/ hype for a game that is utter garbage. All the goddamn shitposting in Witcher/Bloodborne/Whatever threads about Muh Dragon's Dogma and its supposedly amazing combat and great boss fights. All the hype for the "definitive" PC version with 4K and 60fps to overcome the console limitations. And here it is, we finally have it, and it's a fucking shitty janky awful action RPG with shit encounters, awful hit detection, awful combat flow, and monotonous grinding.
Utter turd of a game. I can't believe I fell for /v/'s lies. Never ever ever again.
>he is literally immortal
He isn't. You're too low level and have shit equipment. Run the fuck past him or knock him down and throw him off the small cliff. It won't kill him but it will prevent him from chasing you. Then just book it to the witchwood and forget about coming back to that area until you're stronger.
I killed the cyclopses, although it was kind of tedious whacking at them for 20 minutes
Right now i'm a lvl20 Mystic Knight with one of each class as pawns
I had a hard time keeping the captain alive, though, because i spent too long trying to kill the cannons, but i immediately F4'd after he died, should be right before opening the gates
>4 years worth of online footage to check it out and see if you'll like it or not
Sounds like you have a severe case of being a retard. Please kill yourself. I'd ask you not to breed, but we know it's not necessary.
>Select mission to escort that french chick everyone likes to shadow fort
>Don't know shit about port crystals and the infinite warp stone yet (which I had in my possession, and I had visited shadow fort before)
>Sprint through a shitload of annoying places
>Run into a chimera and some harpies
>Think it's weird that harpies were able to spawn here, but think nothing of it since these enemies are easy enough for me to take out quickly
>Focus on the chimera since harpies are 2 shotted easily at this point
>Kill the chimera, there's 2 harpies left
>While I'm aiming at one of them with the bow and arrow I see the chick I'm supposed to escort fall from the sky and die
>Turns out a harpie picked her up and dropped her, and her health was low enough for this to kill her
>Think nothing of it and head back to Gran Soren to restart the mission
>Can't restart the mission, she's dead for good
>Game already auto saved a few times and i saved it myself on the way back to gran soren
>I stopped playing blind because of this
It really sucked
>have a mage-warrior-ranger pawn setup
>ranger is my pawn
>fighting phantasms in watergod's altar
>mage pawn has literally 4 different affinity spells
>uses absolutely none of them
HOW DOES ONE HUMAN BEING TRAIN THEIR PAWN SO FUCKING POORLY
women belong.. in the kitchen..
Welcome to post eclipse anon
7/10 kinda weird face
how about you r8 my tomboy knightfu
Supposedly that's what people keep saying.
It's how defense is calculated in the game. If his defense is higher than your strength, you do exponentially worse damage going down to like 1. This is a problem early on for some weapons because you literally can't punch their their defense. As you get better weapons, upgrade them, get better stats, augments, etc this quickly becomes a non-issue because enemy defense never really gets better but your offense does.
Then in BBI, defense jumps up again and it can be a problem again for certain weapons. Especially split damage weapons, where going half-and-half means it's just that much harder to overcome either defense.
That said, running past enemies like that is a good idea for a while. Alternatively, you can stagger him, pick him up, and throw him off the cliff. Can't defend against gravity.
