Serious question, but is Rosalina an actual Mary Sue?
>Godlike figure in the MArioverse
>Fully fleshed out, tragic back story
>Superhuman size and athleticism in Tennis and Golf, one of the fastest racers in Mario Kart
>Top tier in Smash 4 with very rare nerfs
>One of the rarest amibo despite coming from Nintendo's flagship series
>I don't see how having a tragic backstory helps make her a Mary Sue
Considering how out of character the material was for Mario
>Speaking of Mario Kart, does /v/ not do MK8 weekends anymore?
They keep doing Tr4sh for reasons I'll never understand.
I don't wish death on him, though I do want him to lose all power within Nintendo. He did some great things back in the day, but now he's an out of touch old man with power (within Nintendo anyway), and that's just not a good thing.
A Mary Sue is a perfect and flawless character who everybody adores (except the characters who are obviously evil) and never does anything wrong, and who is often a self-insert of a writer.
Ignoring the self-insert part, this applies to basically every Mario character, or none of them, since they are all so flat and character-lacking (in the mainline Mario games anyway) that they don't have flaws.
Anon, just because you dislike Rosalina doesn't mean she is a Mary Sue.
What do you think Rosalina's measurements are?
Are you really insisting on doing character analysis on a Mario character of all things? Theyre meant to merely represent different features in the gameplay or act as simple player avatars in the spin-offs. In Galaxy Rosalina acts as an expositionary device that happens to have a little bit of extra backstory because of a developer who wanted to put it in the game.
That's not what a Mary Sue is.
Rosalina's just a powerful character.
A Mary Sue is a character who is Right by virtue of the author saying so, and who cannot lose because the author decides so. A Mary Sue in a Mario game would be able to have both Mario and Bowser forget about Peach, effortlessly beat the game in an instant, and make everyone recognise her as the legitimate Best Person In the World... unless the ones who commit the hateful crime of not agreeing with her, without any character flaws.
I always wanted a series of storybooks for the other Mario characters, possibly with their own printed hardback versions. I think this would be profitable enough to do, plus serve as marketing for the games.
She's not a Mary Sue.
She's just a canon goddess figure yes but a god character =/= a Mary Sue
The superhuman size and such is just traits of her, not traits that are portrayed in a away that she's better than everyone (otherwise, she can't lose even in 3D world by a Goomba or just lose in general) Plus doesn't in kart 8, she shares like the same stats with a few heavyweights now?
Also top tier in Smash was more of an unforeseen consequence. They made her with having a unique gimmick in mind but didn't actually had the full logistics of a puppet character and her properties would have in the tourney scene (hell Sakurai still hates tourney shits anyway, of course he wouldn't give a shit to care about how things work competiviely) And it seems like they're not fixing her because in order to fix the roots of most of her issues, especially with luma, she would need a lot more rework to her system than just changing some values here and there, so I guess they couldn't be bothered to without running her into the ground.
Also the amiibo thing is just coincidental as hell. They only had like one small restock of her and before that Nintendo was still stupid with their Amiibo stocks of anyone that wasn't the commons. She just haven't had a proper restock, just like Palutena, Pit, Robin, Lucina, Meta Knight, etc. They still need to remove her exclusive status like they did with Shulk and Lucario for her to finally be more readily availible

How is it coincidental? They deliberately underproduced her compared to every other Mario amiibo
look at every pokemon that wasn't Pikachu. They were rare as hell, even Charizard and Lucario for being as popular as they were supposed to be.
it seems like she was underproduced because she's just not at a high priority compared to Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, who are the staples of the series. Bowser Jr. and Dr. Mario didn't have this much of an issue because they finally fixed their shit with handing out stock by then.
She's just due for a proper restock is all nowadays
>look at every pokemon that wasn't Pikachu. They were rare as hell, even Charizard and Lucario for being as popular as they were supposed to be.
Pokemon isn't the mainstream force it used to be.
It's still considered one of the staples of Nintendo, just below Mario and Zelda tho. And Pikachu's the face of pokemon to the point even normies can point him out, even more so than Charizard.
>Compile massive Rosalina folder on laptop
>Laptop in shitty condition
>Try to create backup on flash drive
>USB ports won't respond
>Will probably lose everything when this piece of shit finally dies
I care more about having another good Paper Mario game at all, rather than having a paper Rosalina.
Which is also never going to happen
You mean all the lumas that sacrificed themselves saved everyone, including Rosalina. All she did that game was stand on her observatory, and waited for Mario to do all the work.
in a game with a story like mario's I couldn't even begin to imagine why anyone would care
I'm seriously thinking on buying the Mario & Sonic @ Rio 2016 just for the fap material of Peach, Rosalina and Amy.
But is there a character that could even possibly EVEN TOUCH Madara Uchiha? Let alone defeat him. And I’m not talking about Edo Tensei Uchiha Madara. I’m not talking about Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara either. Hell, I’m not even talking about Juubi Jinchuuriki Gedou Rinne Tensei Uchiha Madara with the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan and Rinnegan doujutsus (with the rikodou abilities and being capable of both Amateratsu and Tsukuyomi genjutsu), equipped with his Gunbai, a perfect Susano’o, control of the juubi and Gedou Mazou, with Hashirama Senju’s DNA implanted in him so he has mokuton kekkei genkai and can perform yin yang release ninjutsu while being an expert in kenjutsu and taijutsu.
Why do they do this? Do they play spin the bottle and on which former high quaility franchise it lands, will only get mediocre cash grab sequels from now on? They did the same with Yoshi too.
Rosalina is sobbing uncontrollably after telling you that her mother asleep under the tree on the hill. How do you comfort her?
Beats me. It seems like it would be obvious that just making another game like Paper Mario or TTYD would make money while also pleasing fans, I even thought Super Paper Mario was alright. But now we just get stuff like Sticker Star and Mario & Luigi featuring paper Mario, with none of the charm that the original games had.
To be a fan of Nintendo is to see your favorite series slowly fade into obsolescence.
In fact, thanks to the Star Children moniker, the main cast are all textbook Mary Sues and Gary Stus.
Rosalina's power source comes from the Lumas, and the Observatory's is the Grand Stars, so her power can be removed from her or denied her. That makes her not a Mary Sue.
>but she's pretty much the best at all of the spinoffs
Which may have more to do with her being a new character in retreads of older games. May. It could be intentional, but it just doesn't seem likely.
No, I'm an actual Rosalina fan, but the thought slipped in to my head when I considered the things mentioned above. It's completely baffling to me how fucking rare her amiibo is even with the Target exclusive shit.
>he didn't get Rosa and Jiggly when they were on Target.com for a whole day
Add it to the end of your google search link.
Nigga i know thats X-teal2 but i can't find that image anywhere be a bro, and give me a link
That's actually how it was in the storybook's illustrations, but for Rosalina's teenage years the artist had complete freedom.
The last installment had an infant version of Rosalina instead, and they didn't even bother to give her the correct hair color.
If there's one really good thing that came out of Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, it's that it showed Camelot prefers quality over quantity. They would rather have a polished, working game at launch than one that has more content but is messy and perhaps even broken. I really hope they're not rushed like they were last time with their next game. They aren't the main ones to blame for Ultra Smash being as mediocre as it is.
Only thing that needs to happen so that Paper Mario can get good again is for the FIre Emblem series to get unpopular and fail. Intelligent Systems can only make a good Paper Mario if they aren't tied up with making the next FE game all the time.
I don't think Mario is the kind of series that you can apply typical literary criticisms to. None of the characters are made to fill any deep or storytelling-impacting role.
Now post more cute or sexy Rosetta.
