A Mary Sue is a perfect and flawless character who everybody adores (except the characters who are obviously evil) and never does anything wrong, and who is often a self-insert of a writer.

Ignoring the self-insert part, this applies to basically every Mario character, or none of them, since they are all so flat and character-lacking (in the mainline Mario games anyway) that they don't have flaws.

Anon, just because you dislike Rosalina doesn't mean she is a Mary Sue.

Are you really insisting on doing character analysis on a Mario character of all things? Theyre meant to merely represent different features in the gameplay or act as simple player avatars in the spin-offs. In Galaxy Rosalina acts as an expositionary device that happens to have a little bit of extra backstory because of a developer who wanted to put it in the game.

Rosalina's just a powerful character.

A Mary Sue is a character who is Right by virtue of the author saying so, and who cannot lose because the author decides so. A Mary Sue in a Mario game would be able to have both Mario and Bowser forget about Peach, effortlessly beat the game in an instant, and make everyone recognise her as the legitimate Best Person In the World... unless the ones who commit the hateful crime of not agreeing with her, without any character flaws.

I always wanted a series of storybooks for the other Mario characters, possibly with their own printed hardback versions. I think this would be profitable enough to do, plus serve as marketing for the games.

The superhuman size and such is just traits of her, not traits that are portrayed in a away that she's better than everyone (otherwise, she can't lose even in 3D world by a Goomba or just lose in general) Plus doesn't in kart 8, she shares like the same stats with a few heavyweights now?

Also top tier in Smash was more of an unforeseen consequence. They made her with having a unique gimmick in mind but didn't actually had the full logistics of a puppet character and her properties would have in the tourney scene (hell Sakurai still hates tourney shits anyway, of course he wouldn't give a shit to care about how things work competiviely) And it seems like they're not fixing her because in order to fix the roots of most of her issues, especially with luma, she would need a lot more rework to her system than just changing some values here and there, so I guess they couldn't be bothered to without running her into the ground.

Also the amiibo thing is just coincidental as hell. They only had like one small restock of her and before that Nintendo was still stupid with their Amiibo stocks of anyone that wasn't the commons. If there's one really good thing that came out of Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, it's that it showed Camelot prefers quality over quantity. They would rather have a polished, working game at launch than one that has more content but is messy and perhaps even broken.
