If you haven't played already, which path do you plan on playing first? Are there any gameplay elements that you're looking forward to or dreading?
What are you talking about? You can marry Camilla. Also:
There's not really any incest, kinda.
Can you customize your protagonist like in awakening? Thats like the only thing I liked of that game
When is Fates coming out anyway?
Yes, customization is still in, but they removed the old man type. And its out in Japan, coming to US in february. Europe doesn't have one since NoA is probably still pissed that they didn't censor tharja's booty in awakening dlc
Damn old man was my favourite
Last question: Can i romance him with a male protagonist
This is very important
>"Hoshido is your real family! Why would you abandon them for a bunch of strangers that made you a princess and raised you?"
>Hoshido isn't actually your real family
At least Nohr actually has some conquest.
Is the fan translation complete? It is not shitty? I've been watching fansubbed anime for years, so this seems like the better option since nintendo will fucking censor everything
Death quotes are a staple at this point. Some characters have some real sad ones.
That's why a lot of people reset anon. It's been this way for most if not all of FE. Some of the characters have fucked up deaths in the story. Sigurd has been a meme due to the way that he dies in his story. He gets cucked and burned alive.
>people are worried about censorship
Remember, Nintendo put this into a ZELDA game that was heavily marketed, and in Awakening you could impregnate a scantily clad loli character. The fanservice is safe. The only thing that you should worry about it is the BIOLOGICAL incest, but I wasn't planning on fucking my sister anyway.
>Nintendo put this into a ZELDA game that was heavily marketed,
Actually KT had full creative control over Hyrule Warriors. Nintendo was not involved in the development at all.
Regardless, I agree to an extent. Aside from some of the dialog in the Amie minigame, I'm pretty sure everything will go untouched. If anything is actually censored, a bit of modding can always fix it (kinda like how Xenoblade is uncensored now).
>Yeah, if you're a shitter. And you SHOULD feel bad about being a shitter
I mean take other RPG, like HoMM or WarCraft, you can't expect a lot of people do clear missions without a single lost unit
But Awakening's DLC was censored, which is a more relevant example. I'm absolutely expecting the worst, like >>324134869 just being the first two and last five seconds in the localized version.
>he didn't dick Nowi
Not to mention she produces arguably the best children (Nah and Morgan) since it gives Nah access to every class, and it gives Morgan access to Manakete.
With awakening it already had its rating. This is considerably more lewd than the content in the base game so it was likely only censored so there would be no problems with ratings
>Pieri's death line
If what some guy around here has been saying is true, never or not for a long ass time. According to him the translation team has moved on. But it's 4chan and /feg/ so I'm not sure how accurate that is.
But I think squiggle snake is adorable anon
>He doesn't want to get murder boners with his waifu
>Implying that's a bad thing
Since feg and Serenes Forest is too confusing, I'm gonna ask here, where the fuck do I check for progress?
I'm just waiting on the supports, is it literally that one tiny tumblr page with a bunch of charts?
>where the fuck do I check for progress?
For the translation patch? If you're too lazy to keep up with the serenes thread, just wait for the thread title to change with a new release.
Chances are the translation patch won't even progress beyond the point that it's at now.
I really hate the new weapon system. I feel like it took something that made sense, had a sense of progression and felt balanced (durability) and totally destroyed it with all the retarded, arbitrary, "gamey" weapon attributes. It makes no sense that a silver weapon decreases stats after using it, that a steel weapon decreases speed, that a brave weapon decreases defense. I get they did this to make weapons all have a payoff, but this looks really unnecessary and needlessly complicated. It's more satisfying to upgrade your weapons over the course of the game and having your guys all decked out in awesome brave/silver weapons, instead of just using Iron the entire game because it's the path of least resistance.
The new weapon triangle also feels too arbitrary. It makes no sense that magic is strong against bows, for example. I feel like all of the mechanics in this game were designed to fit a card game instead of a strategy game which is supposed to have some sort of realism. Like I get hurrdurr it's a fantasy game, but all other fire emblems had a logical flow and reasoning for the way things worked. this one just feels like logical anarchy.
Even with that it's my most anticipated game right now. I'm really glad that they didn't take the children characters out, and they become a series staple from here out.
>Chances are the translation patch won't even progress beyond the point that it's at now
As far as I know they've translated all the romantic supports, but not the regular ones.
fuck now I want to play it. is the english translation complete? is it worth it to play it or just wait for the official release?
>I'm really glad that they didn't take the children characters out, and they become a series staple from here out.
>when IS randomly adds and removes features when they feel like if
And the new weapon system is balanced so you actually need to STRATEGIZE and not use broken weapons all the time
At first I felt the same way about the new weapon system, but it's grown on me.
As you said, in earlier games once you have access to silver/Brave weapons there's no reason to use anything else. If you don't want to deal with status effects you don't have to use anything but Iron weapons in Fates, but the game encourages you to keep various weapons on-hand. You never know when you might need that Reverse Katana.
I know that, but I thought it was said either in-game or in some of the supports that the Nohr siblings would visit you, the just couldn't take you out of the castle you were held in? I know Camilla talks about wanting to take Kamui shopping and on trips but she couldn't.
>in earlier games once you have access to silver/Brave weapons there's no reason to use anything else
That's not necessarily a bad thing. But they could have avoided that by making other, comparable good weapons instead of nerfing them with bizarre nerfs which make no sense.
In my opinion, iron-steel-silver should all just be attributeless weapons.
Silver and steel were broken?
The new weapon system is pretty fantastic. Gameplay wise, Fates shits on every other game in the series by a wide margin. No other game comes close to matching how well designed Nohr is from a tactical standpoint.
DLC has bumfuck nothing for story, except for the Awakening DLC and one other. The rest are either fanservice (beach DLC, etc) or no text text to begin with (the item/gold/EXP grinding DLC).
DLC getting translated is lowest on the priority scale. According to the team:
Fixing typos/errors > Finishing supports > Doing select DLC (beach and Awakening) > Doing all DLC
>no other game comes close to nohr
Nohr still has issues that are gamewide like shit forges and the messy child system(also maps like ziegbert's paralogue suck) so I can't put it above games like FE5 or 10.
Still pretty good. Unfortunately nohr is only 1/3rd of fates.
A lot of them moved on to do The Great Attorney (or whatever translated name they're going with). They claim they'll finish up all the typos and supports, but the rest is in the "if we feel like it" range.
>almost finished Nohr chapter 10 on Lunatic
>didn't count the tiles properly and Aqua gets one shotted because I moved Elfie out of the way to get her healed on turn 10
fuck my life
Nohr is infinitely better than Hoshido in terms of map design
>Gameplay wise, Fates shits on every other game in the series by a wide margin
Totally disagree. Too much RNG and weird, arbitrary attributes attached to everything to have that feel of seamless consistency of earlier fire emblems.
He's actually a trap in the straightest way possible. He once asked his dad what girls like and got that they like cute things in reply. He figured that girls were cute, so he could get girls if he was like one.
>Passing up on one of the best units on the route because he's generic
His growths are fantastic and his skill set is amazing. You fucked up fag.
You'd be having a much better time right now if you had him
story wise it doesn't make much sense to side with Nohr, and the game basically berates you for picking the wrong side the entire time
however the route is a lot harder and has much better map design so I think it's well suited to play second after warming up with hoshido
>Too much RNG
This is a retarded argument that can be applied to every game in the series.
>weird, arbitrary attributes attached to everything to have that feel of seamless consistency of earlier fire emblems
There's nothing weird or arbitrary about it. It's plainly obvious how well calculated and placed enemy units are in this game. Weird or arbitrary bad design with too much RNG is something much more fitting of FE5. Xavier's recruitment is a complete mess precisely for these reasons.
Post best Fates music
>Tfw we could have had this awesome lighting sword samurai guy in the game instead of Kamui.
I wish nintendo would start showing some stuff off about this game. They were doing xenoblade shit for what seemed like forever, but this game has just two ign videos of some dumbass stumbling through the game. Fuck man I just want new english names to shitpost about
>Gameplay wise, Fates shits on every other game
It's only at it's best on the Nohr route. The fact that Hoshido and Invisible Kingdom don't properly give enemy units good skill assortments on any level drags it down, along with the lack of objectives in Hoshido and the over all rushed quality of Invisible Kingdom.
Invisible Kingdom should have been another Radiant Dawn style 4th chapter once you've got everyone.
Having 2 games worth of units but only 12 deploy spots for most of the maps is shit. Your army should have been split between 3 leaders and each should have been given 2-3 maps.
What other games are supposed to be better? The NES, GBA, and DS games have no where near the features Fates has. It's an objective improvement over Awakening. All that's left after that are FE4, which has tons of problems in game design, FE5, which has some of the worst game design in the series if not the worst, FE9, which is pretty much just the GBA games with skills added on, and FE10, which is just a slight improvement over FE9 with third tiers.
Fates is the pinnacle of the series from a gameplay perspective. No other game comes close because no other game has the features and thought put into it to match it's design and challenge.
>Having 2 games worth of units but only 12 deploy spots for most of the maps is shit.
Don't worry, they made 2/3 of the cast literally useless so you don't feel guilty of not using them.
They're already having that discussion.
I don't get what you're saying, he's still in the game. Actually he's considered to be the most OP unit. Unless you meant something different.
>Having 2 games worth of units but only 12 deploy spots for most of the maps is shit.
That really isn't that different from the rest of the series. At least there are maps where you can use over 12 units.
I tried the grinding dlc and it's complete bullshit. Like awakening, the enemies will generally run away from you, except when you have a unit in range that takes significant damage from it. You're pretty much fucked if you want to train a weaker unit. Only 20% of the enemies are the enemies that give out gold exp and they run away moe often than attack. Large squads of enemies + a balista unit that inflicts stop also spawn at random points and will fuck up any of the weaker units you want to grind.
I don't recommend paying money for this unless it's endgame grinding you want to do because it is leagues more frustrating than awakening's grinding dlc.
Number of features don't dictate how well designed the game is. FE5 and RD had tight level design made around their mechanics and that's what makes a tactical game good.
The fact that you call FE5 one of the worst designed games make me cringe. Other than how much of a jerk move was the minimum hit rate being 1% and the maximum 99% and giving enemies status staves with infinite duration and infinite staff range are the only real complaints, all other stuff worked really well. Low stat caps made so rotating units wasn't an issue, stamina made it so you relied on more than a handful of elite and the overall map design was great with various objectives.
FE10 had really great level design too, only real issues were how overpowered the Greil Mercenaries are and I guess you can complain about the Dawn Brigade if you can't handle your units being overpowered.
You're looking at things from a mechanical perspective, not a level design one. But level design is what makes a TRPG good. And
>No other game comes close because no other game has the features and thought put into it to match it's design and challenge.
This only applies to Nohr and you know it. They didn't even give any skills hand crafted for difficulty in the other routes, Hoshido is just a bunch of rout maps like Awakening and IK is full of gimmicky maps that you can easily ignore them and one turn said maps.
Which cute boy are you going to let Stick It In™?
Still hunting for a Special Edition. Going Nohr first.
Kaze's cooler brother.
Damn. Any experience with it as early as is possible to access it, assuming it scales? I had heard it's pretty punishing at later chapters but if I can use it from the start I can do all the crazy reclassing I'd like to do.
>The fact that you call FE5 one of the worst designed games make me cringe.
Piss weak enemies.
Warp skipping, which the game actually expects you to do in its ranked runs.
Capturing being largely unnecessary to beat the game.
No real way to generate money and being forced to use capturing as pretty much your only source of getting items.
Scrolls and broken stat boosting items.
Enemies being unable to move in certain maps because they run into each other, to the point where they can't move the turn their summoned.
Terrible choke points that only serve to aid to the above problem or make maps like chapter 14 a joke.
It's ranking system is almost completely RNG based. Xavier's recruitment is the biggest example of this because all his knights have movement stars.
The game does not feature various objectives as outside of two maps, every mission is either escape or seize.
The map design is nothing special compared to other games in the series, and things like chapter 11, 14, or 18 are just flat out bad.
You don't recover from status effects.
Ballista take away more stamina than other attacks and deal an unnecessarily large amount of damage, which every other game in the series has been smart enough never to do.
Magic is completely screwed since the vast majority of enemies only use dark magic and you can't ever reduce weapon weight from them.
Then you have the min 1 max 99 problem as well for an all around mediocre game that people overrate because they find it hard the first time they play it and then realize how easy it is from a high level.
>They didn't even give any skills hand crafted for difficulty in the other routes
Neither did FE10 and most of FE9 and Awakening. Most other games don't give enemies the ability to support either anyway, which at least Fates does.
>IK is full of gimmicky maps that you can easily ignore them and one turn said maps.
Just like FE5, except only worse in FE5 due to the large abundance of warp skipping.
Rout maps aren't strategical at all because there's no other way to tackle this objective, you can only kill all enemies and that's it.
Mix that at how those maps usually are either giant squares where you are bumrushed like Awakening and some lategame Hoshido maps or are just gigantic maps that last forever because reinforcements keep spawning like FE8 or earlygame Hoshido ones and you get one brain dead objective.
Other objectives are like the flagpole at the end of a Mario level. They just dictate how you end the map, but bear no relevance in how the whole thing plays until there. Rout is just a "bash all baddies" bonus level from DKC2 and 3.
I thought it was easier at higher levels, since I sure as fuck couldn't do much during my prepromote levels. The enemies are a hell of a lot stronger than the gold ones from awakening and you both start in the same area. They run away from you as opposed to towards you, so you need to find a way to keep up with them as the same time as you're trying to keep your units from dying, and they will die to two or three of them. Doesn't help that they spawn in large groups. While in the middle of keeping up with the first group, assuming you're still alive, 2-3 groups of 6, including the ballista unit will spawn at the halfway point, so now you're stuck between two groups of enemies that will attack any unit that they can kill. Even if you survive the map, you probably didn't get any noticible exp to make up for your work, esspecially not to your weak units.
I've been personally using the money dlc map to 'grind', since half of the units are boss-type units that give up extra exp.
I really just wanted to make some non-shit kids in my hoshido run, but it's been a pain in the ass.
>Capturing being largely unnecessary to beat the game.
>No real way to generate money and being forced to use capturing as pretty much your only source of getting items.
These contradict each other desu
You can beat it in one turn. RD's defense maps are actually pretty awful. Jill has a decent chance of dying before you reach her in 1-5, 2-F can be one turned, 3-5 just has to have you deploy Ike and never move to easily win, and 3-13 is either two turned or easily beaten securing all the choke points by the short spear halberdier since laguz can't attack at 2 range and there aren't enough flying laguz for the archer's not to be able to easily kill them.
Katie's note on this comic was both hilarious and sad. She was legitimately terrified of being arrested and was physically ill over a fictional dragon character in a video game no being completely covered up.
I know, but those two points contradict each other too much.
It means it's a bad mechanic since you don't need to use it to beat the game, but are pretty much forced to use it as your only real means of access to more of something else when other options are available, but the game essentially tries to make sure you only use the former.
I like all FE games, I just find FE5 to be heavily overrated and would say FE4 is one of my favorite games in the series. And since when do mods favor games that rarely get discussed?
Mentioing the ways you can trivialize the game shouldn't take away from the overall experience. I didn't even find Thracia that hard and I still enjoy it a lot.
Complaining about no sources of money when the game expects you to capture to get items to use or sell and them say that capture is useless for beating the game sound conflicting.
I mentioned the status effects.
Warp skipping isn't unique to this game.
The fact that you criticize all those and then go to defend Fates as a whole is hilarious. Hoshido and IK should also be guilty of being easily trivialized given that Hoshido enemies are so pathetic that Ryouma and Crimson can do all the work while IK is full of gimmicky maps that can be one turned if you ignore said gimmicks. Why wait for a bunch of platforms to move into place when I can send a flier to kill the boss in one turn?
Nohr is the only one where they put real thought in the level design, and with this comes enemy positioning, the skills they have at their disposal and the objectives in play. You mentioning that RD and PoR not giving enemies skills excuse the other routes from enemies having skills for difficulty purposes is stupid when the two games skill system differed vastly, Fates was made for units to have 5 to 6 on them while RD and PoR weren't, capacity was a thing.
Warpskipping or no warpskipping doesn't change that you'll be one turning those maps, at least Warp skipping requires some resource management or need you to go out of your way to get the staves, IK just needs you to pair Ryoma or Xander with a flier.
That's what I really liked about RD's design. There were always different ways to play maps.
Like in Elincia's gambit you COULD go down there in one turn and rape Ludveck, but there's also a bunch of treasures lying around the map and potential EXP from enemies, so there's an incentive to stick it out too.
3-5, the boss actually has a stealable Power Drop. If you play very offensively and rush the enemy, you can escort Heather down so she can steal it. You COULD just stick it out with Ike, but your team would get drastically less EXP.
3-13 gives you the option to KILL Ike and the GMs if you so desire. It's really difficult, but the option is there if you want to go for an early win. Otherwise you can just soak up all that transformed laguz exp. Or you could just block chokepoints with your prepromotes.
He literally spammed pictures of Deidree and Sigurd fucking in the thread going "Mods, don;t delete this image because it's not Micaiah and Ike, it's Sigurd and Deidree so you shouldn't ban it you biased fucks"
He then reposted the image whenever it got deleted and just restated that "it's not Micaiah and Ike"
>Mentioing the ways you can trivialize the game shouldn't take away from the overall experience.
Then you why are you yourself mentioning something similar as a flaw of Fates?
>Warp skipping isn't unique to this game.
It's a flaw in other games as well.
>Hoshido and IK should also be guilty
Hoshido and IK aren't the only games in Fates. I'm not purely judging RD by easy mode am I?
>You mentioning that RD and PoR not giving enemies skills excuse the other routes from enemies having skills for difficulty purposes is stupid when the two games skill system differed vastly, Fates was made for units to have 5 to 6 on them while RD and PoR weren't, capacity was a thing.
It's the same issue on a conceptual level. The point is that they're both ways to give the player an advantage over the AI that the AI still can't make use of. It's the same problem as enemies in Awakening not being able to use pair-up.
Then talk about Conquest, Birhtright and IK. The fact that only one route of the three games is good averages the thing down immensely.
I'm mentioning it as a flaw due to the effort or obviousness on a first playthrough. A first time player won't thing of how much he can break the game with staff abuse, while you can easily see that Seth or Ryoma wreck shit with no investment needed.
And about skills, Conquest did it. No excuse for the other two routes not doing besides making the game easier for the new target demographic.
Because he'd kept writing essays about how FE4/FE5 get special treatment in the threads and that people are allowed to be obnoxious about FE4/FE5 while if they get obnoxious about other games their posts get deleted. He's whining say Pro FE4/FE5 shitposters get special treatment and don't have to follow the rules
>not getting an amazon prime free trial
>not getting free two day shipping so that you get it on release day
>not getting the 20% discount on pre orderd games through amazon prime
>not immediately cancelling the prime trial after ordering so you don't have to pay for it
When I saw Aqua's black outfit I really though they were gonna do a situation where she wears black for the whole game if you pick Nohr and white if you pick Hoshido.
>Then talk about Conquest, Birhtright and IK. The fact that only one route of the three games is good averages the thing down immensely.
Conquest being the best of the three doesn't mean the other two are that much worse due to some differences in game play.
>I'm mentioning it as a flaw due to the effort or obviousness on a first playthrough
A first time player isn't guaranteed to know that you can safely use Ryouma and Seth for the whole game either.
>No excuse for the other two routes not doing besides making the game easier for the new target demographic.
Well, they were both advertised as being easier than Nohr.
I fail to see how someone can't see that Seth and Ryoma wreck shit when the "Jeigan trap" is something so common with new players.
And the other two routes aren't worst because Conquest is better, they're jut bad by themselves and happen to look worse compared to Conquest.
And I guess it's true, they were indeed advertised as being easier than Nohr. Doesn't change that it's disappointing and makes Capture really useless outside of Nohr.
Everyone thought so, anon. It was a major disappointment.
I'm playing both on hard and I'm not really enjoying it. All of the enemies have gank skills that negate your stats or prevent you from baiting one on one interactions. Every map is sitting under a waterfall until it runs out of juice.
So how is Nohr's side?
Unless I can get it for cheap, I don't really plan on playing Hoshido. I didn't really dig Awakening. So I'm wondering if the Nohr side, while a bit more old fashioned, is a decent game. Does it have a decent difficulty?
Well, legally and biologically it's not incest unless there's blood relation. So someone who isn't part of your family biologically but was raised by you isn't incest.
You're just biased on a psychological level.
>playing the japanese version
>had no idea that you could customize a castle and use it to battle other players
>tfw finding out that you can invite units to your room and pet the shit outta them
>tfw petting Felicia all day everyday
Holy fuck my heart will finally give in this time!
This just made me love her even more! While in Awakening I had a hard time deciding on who to marry, in IF Felicia just destroys the competition.
Well except for Camilla, but I dont have her in my party yet.
Yes. While my favorite game is RD, Nohr is definitely up there, both for difficulty and gameplay.
You can get Hoshido as DLC for 20 bucks after buying Nohr anyway, if you really want to. Just don't expect low prices for the physical copies.
I'm playing a translated version and only a mission past the choice on hard difficulty. Is just me or does the game feel pretty hard, possibly with just new weapons and mechanics.
Learning how to utilize the new classes and such, i'm having to restart quite a few times, and a few maps have felt a bit gimmicky.
Like the mission
where you first turn into a dragon, are you supposed to just cheese the whole map with the avatar? All the units are balls hard.
Also archers are fucking boss now that you can attack with them, and have units next to them getting a free attack in every time. Gotta plan your strats differently now near corridors with enemies on the other side.
It's not socially unacceptable only if there's blood relation.
An adoptive father boning a daughter is way more shunned than non blood related siblings. But both cases aren't illegal unless any relationship happens between a minor and an adult.
>I fail to see how someone can't see that Seth and Ryoma wreck shit when the "Jeigan trap" is something so common with new players.
If they know the "Jeigan trap", then that gives them the means to know not to use Seth by default? I don't know how casual new players will look at Ryoma since he gains 1 exp per battle. They might just use him as a last resort, not in the way that we know he can be used.
I didn't say the know the Jeigan trap, I said new players fall for that trap. If new players fall for that trap, there's no reason why a new player wouldn't use Ryoma and Seth.
It's a middle of the road between the two difficulties. Not as hard as Nohr, not as easy as Hoshido.
But story wise, you choose neither side and pick up units from each side as you progress.
>Is the third route some sort of combo of the two?
Only in that it lets you use units from both routes.
The most cost effective way to buy Fates is to only buy two versions.
>All three Fates
>$80 for all three versions
>$0.86 per chapter
>Two copies of Fates
>$60 for two
>$0.83 per chapter
>One copy of Fates
>$0.93 per chapter
>Would've cost at minimum $30 at the time at ~$60 with inflation
>$1.2 per chapter at minimum
>Would've cost at minimum $50 at the time at ~$80 with inflation
>$1.13 per chapter at minimum
>Would've cost at minimum $50 at the time at ~$80 with inflation
>$1.56 per chapter at minimum
>41(44, but three were practically unobtainable unless you were a super special Japanese snowflake) chapters
>$0.73 per chapter
>$0.68 per chapter
>49 chapters (including ruins and the coast)
>$0.61 per chapter
>33 (3 other maps required you own FE7 or FE8) chapters
>$1.51 per chapter
>$1.19 per chapter
>$1.02 per chapter
>$0.80 per chapter
It's not that everything is gimmicky, it's that you're a fucking casual who got use to Awakenings "No Thinking Required" style of play.
Look at the weapons and stats of the enemies before you fucking throw someone at them. If you're playing Nohr make sure to check the skills too.
Anon, such romances that get exposed are the ones where everyone know they aren't blood related, else the news headline are about someone being arrested. Are you stupid or what?
Alright, I'll have to check it out. Thanks again.
If you buy a physical copy of one route and then download the other ones, you get three save slots by the route you own.
If you get the SE cart, you get 9 save slots from the get go.
If you buy physical once, then you should never buy physical again and only get digital since you can only get the discount for other routes buying digital.
For every route you own, you get three extra save files. I believe because of how everything beyond the first three save files works, saving in any of the newer save slots takes maybe one or two seconds longer.
that chapter is easy if you pair up Rinkah with Suzukaze, it turns him into a bit of a tank
also yes you can rush down the Wyrmslayer guys with Kamui so long as there aren't any left in his range by the end of the turn, he 1 shots them
>Most of those games were $60 at release.
The only ones that could cost that much are the NES and SNES games which I couldn't find exact prices for. Them costing more isn't a good thing.
I was able to very easily bait into groups one at a time and just have the avatar 1shot an enemy, dance, kill a 2nd, and the rest of the crew cleanup the last enemy per group.
Quite possible, my old GBA games have long been lost, and I've played Awakening a few times through because it's easy and mobile, I can get a good hour in a day inbetween the tasks I do at work. Don't get me wrong, awakening is an okay game, very easy to just bring to work and play for 10 seconds, like all the mobile games; but it is a weak point for the series.
I suppose my biggest issue is learning when to use defensive and offensive pairings. It's pretty much required and i'm so used to always defensively pairing.
Who are you pairing with who?
For Nohr, I'm doing:
>I suppose my biggest issue is learning when to use defensive and offensive pairings
You can clear the map with zero pairings.
Its piss easy, you are give a unit that can oneshot everything on the map and a dancer. Not to mention two melee attackers who can kill the mages on the map and survive the hit back.
Anon, you'd never be able to compete.
Her and the ninja can kill mages, Rinkah is hot shit in general.
If it failed it means you were utilizing your dancer wrong or were running into multiple mages attack range at the bottom like an idiot instead of baiting all 4 of them out.
Read the fucking posts anon, I'm a few past that chapter, I just felt guilty for over abusing dragonpowers. Cleared that chapter first try, other units couldn't hit baddies for shit so they got cleanup duty.
Yeah, me neither.
I don't know how it became like it is now, especially since it was still going strong when FE12 got an English patch, but whatever.
Something like 3+ years of shitposting, still going at it.
Isn't Rinkah like one of three units in all of Hoshido with a respectable Defense growth rate? How do you go without her assuming you don't throw caution to the wind and rely on dodging?
I'm okay with that in moderation but when it's 90% of the discussion that's when it gets grating. Even the Kingdom Hearts general knows when to hang it up for a bit and close the general down until there's something noteworthy to talk about.
I didn't care about the fanfiction stuff, but when people started doing threadly things that would take up the first 1/4th of the whole thread and never discuss anything other than Awakening/Fates, I had to get out. When people started calling others Grandpa and ignoring anything else, I had lost all faith.
Who you use in Hoshido doesn't matter because of grinding and from a non-grinding perspective, you pretty much only need Ryoma and Crimson to beat the game.
Rinka's problems as a unit are that:
1. She has poor base stats
2. She works much MUCH better as a pair-up unit
So you won't "actually" use her that much.
>Awful as fuck name changes (Xander seriously)
>Probably won't include dual audio
>Games stories are split into three
>Games stories are split into three
That's incorrect. The game story isn't split into three, it's literally "here are two routes where everyone acts like retards and you don't solve the real issue or only get a few facts, the DLC route is the one with all the answers and people suddenly not acting like idiots"
Adding on to this, he is literally the most suave character in the game. His confession dialogue is something along the lines of:
>"You look so beautiful in your clothes, but I'm sure you look infinitely more beautiful bare."
>hardworking country girl
Why does this make me so hard.
And I'll play the fan-translation.
Don't trust the treehouse, they are assholes.
>Using Eyvel to take down the deadlords, that's pretty fucking ballsy. Also Where's Mareeta, unless you're planning on warping her next to Veld t one round him before he can use stone again
>Are children good for lunatic runs
Very specific children are useful.
Ryouma's son on Hoshido.
Flannel's daughter on Nohr.
Harold's son less because he's a good unit but because his map gives you LOADES OF EMONE
All others are piddling to mediocre
Children are more usable this time around than Awakening. Depending on when you recruit them, they come with an item that auto boosts their level, though their joining chapter is later as a result.
Depending on how their set up, they can be very useful.
As far as postgame goes, people are hoping for another round of DLC at some point.
>probably wont include dual audio
Where do you people get these ideas? My god. I know this is /v/ and all but holy shit get over yourselves.
>not liking Xander
Yes, you're playing a shittier one made by amateurs. They couldn't even get a competent translator like Gringe on board.
Xander is fucking awful.
How can you even like that name?
>Do you have a reading comprehension problem?
Do you? That anon clearly understands that they don't share DNA, he's just saying it's weird to fuck someone you grew up with as a sibling.
>you will never nurse at her breasts like a child while she straddles your lap with your arms tight around her body and her hands caresing your head and hair
Enjoy your no supports, then. Because they aren't continuing it.
>All this treehouse dick sucking
This place truly is nintengaf
Jesus fucking christ, I bet you faggots think the Wii-U console is good too and amiibos are okay
I'm not nearly as buttblasted about it as you are. And if its Tharja-tier censoring, I won't be bothered by it at all. Hell, I kinda hope that scene showing off Camilla is edited. It's stupid to have, regardless of how good the unit is.
>OH MY GOD YOU PRO-CENSORSHIP FAG KILLING VIDYA
Boohoo. If I want to see half-naked bitches I'll go to rule34. Paula from Earthbound has no lewdness to her in the game and there's plenty of fan porn of her.
Not him, but I'm worried about the popular perception of the game when it comes out in the west. If it's seen as a game for perverts, I probably won't want to take my 3ds with it around on my college campus.
I'm not angry at all. I'd just prefer it. But I'm not going to foam at the mouth if it stays or is edited. Censorfags are very entertaining.
This is also something I worry about. I hate seeing all these dramatic-type games conform to moeshit because people want it so badly and it's all that sells anymore. There are plenty of games already out there that are nothing but ecchi crap with awful gameplay and people eat it up. I wouldn't want Fire Emblem to go down the same route.
I'm not gullible enough to believe the shills (I still remember when they insisted Awakening was the most well-designed title in the series), but I recently downgraded my 3DS so I might as well give Nohr a try.
What are the difficulty modes in the game and how hard are they? What do you recommend a veteran player start with? Should I play ironman or not?
So what happened to Pokemon Birthright?
I genuinely hope we get a sequel to this.
>giving a flying shit about what random starngers think about what games you play
And it's hilarious how you think Camilla will be on the screen 100% of the time or something.
Birthright is more like Awakening. Grinding and generally easier for a while. Also has the least retarded story.
Conquest is more like traditional difficulty and gameplay. Has some great maps. Worst story out of the three, though.
I don't care what people think of the games I play. I care about the developers seeing what the fans like in the games and then downgrading to that level of work just to appeal to them.
Yeah, I can totally see the makers of FE completely and utterly dropping Fire Emblem out of nowhere to make hentai games because a few gaijin on an anonymous image board have the hots for ONE whole character.
Choose Hard over Normal if you want regular difficulty, just like Awakening. There's also Phoenix Mode which is even more casual than Casual mode, your units come back the next turn if they die.
Lunatic and Lunatic+ are also back, and seem a bit more balanced than Awakening. I've played Nohr Lunatic all the way through and it wasn't as reset-heavy as Awakening's RNGfest. Things felt more down to my army comp and decision making.
I did read it, and that's what you assume they'd make. Or do you assume they'd make all the characters scantily-clad big-tiity girls with dating options, more like an ecchi dating simulator?
>scantily-clad big-tiity girls with dating options, more like an ecchi dating simulator
A wild assumption but it could possibly happen. Maybe not to the extreme but it can definitely deter from what the games originally focused on.
Goes right into the trash along with fatal frame and xenoblade
That's for saving me money nintendo
No, I meant that compared to 10, you get good units earlier instead of being saddled with useless fuckers for huge segments.
Camilla is one tier below Radiant Dawn Haar in usability
Not really because Mikoto is not Hoshidan. She came to country later with you in tow and Hoshido king married her after his original wife, the one gave birth to hoshido heirs died.
Avatar literary has more reason to think himself as a Nohr.
I just started the series with awakening, what exactly am I missing out on with the previous ones?
There's maybe a few bits of Tharja looking like that. Camilla was designed to be like that. Next game will just be "we fight only in swim suits because island nation and other shit!"
Same as you anon.
I've read that Awakening is among the easiest and most accessible. Starting there isn't bad but there can be more challenge in the old games.
I grind too much in Awakening and my units are so OP it's almost boring. Older ones don't let you do that.
>she killed a bear by herself with nothing but a knife
They already said they weren't going to go back and edit the last route since the official release was so close.
Honestly just suck it up and play the fan translation if you aren't going to buy the full thing. The last route is the only one that's rushed to fuck. Hoshido and Nohr are translated fine for the most part, and there's a pastebin for like 95% of the supports. The only thing you really miss out on is some of the flavor text while talking to units in the Castle.
Awakening has grinding via a map. The games like this are much easier you can grind if you're having trouble. The game has decent characters at best, a large cast, and decent replay ability through making OP children or no grinding on your own end.
The biggest flaw in the game is that every map is a route, kill everything and stand on the trees/forts. Huge step back and is a big flaw on the game as it becomes trivialized to pairing up strong units on tiles.
Other games have more variety in tasks and generally a LOT more strategy in managing gear and characters. You don't have to drop any characters in awakening, but in other games you do.
It's still an alright entry point, next recommended games would be either FE7 on the GBA or FE9 on the gamecube.
I like the girls's design but BALANCE YOUR FUCKING GAME IS.
Nohr because it has the best big bro
will make your Kanna a cripple unless you're going for magic
he has decent genes, I don't see problems with this one for any build of either Grey or Kanna really. Kanna could end up a bit slow but that's it
a reasonable choice for hybrid children, I went for this on my first playthrough and ended up with a useful Kanna and Draconic Curse on Deere
>because you shit on the fan translation means you approve of the memehouse
Do the people with the warp staves have good enough AI to only grab a dude if the nearby units can kill them, or can I bait them into pulling a unit with high Res by not having anyone else in there?
Two questions for those who played
I heard magic got fucked in this game. How badly did it get fucked?
By extension, I kinda wanna marry Nyx or Anna, how badly does that fuck up Kanna?
>playing the translation right now
>have the DLC
>Opening with good amount of Nohr and making most of them likeable
>evil king, making evil plans with me apart of it
>get into Hosido side stuff
>all good guys besides that one kid
killed you biological mother
You have to chose to either aid in the invasion or defend a totally nice seeming place
Jeez, I though this choice was supposed to be hard? They could have dont a bit to make Nohr me appealing. Though I say that, but still want to know what would happen if I went nohr.
Excellent taste anon.
The anikis are cute! Cute!
