So looking at the forums it seems people have been testing the pawn system, and even when your pawn is rented and returned and you rest at an inn:
-Your pawn does not give you a notice, or any items or rift crystals
-Your pawn does not receive any ratings
-Your pawn does not add the other pawns it fought with to its "Pawns it knows" lists

So basically while uploading your own pawn to the server works fine, sending other people's pawns back doesn't work at all. Even if your pawn has been rented constantly it will appear as though it hasn't been rented at all.

Having enemies that you can't kill is meant to be fun. It gives you an "Oh shit" moment when you see one and makes it more rewarding when you are strong enough to kill one.

Striders tend to have a lot better AI than rangers, probably because they do well with either melee or ranged, while the Ranger should never be using their daggers but they don't know how not to.

But yeah, I'd imagine most people play a damage-dealer so they immediately grab a "tank" and a healer from the rift, so 2/3 of rentals are going to go to those specific vocations while the last 1/3 is split between all the damage-dealer classes.

That works well until they decide to just start climbing up large enemies and punching them for no reason. Sometimes you get lucky and Rangers work perfectly, and sometimes they're just total dogshit regardless of their inclinations. Strider is just a safer choice.

Reminds me of the time I took a ranger to kill a metal golem, and it literally refused to hit the last disk hanging from a tree. It spent the fight punching the golem in the head while I stood under the tree desperately hoping it would stop being stupid.

Nothing is really a natural progression.

Advanced vocations are basically offensive-focused version of based vocations. They trade defense and/or utility for damage. Losing a shield for a two-hander, losing healing magic for stronger offensive magic, etc. Hybrid vocations are mixes of two base vocations, and likewise have their own trade-offs.

Because defense often isn't super important in the game and you can literally pause the game to heal from a menu at any time, players tend to view glass canon classes like Assassin as the best, but the class differences aren't really designed with having a "best" in mind.

if you're dying to bandits i think thats the road to get to witchwood which has an early level quest in there so either get good at dodging and enchanted weapons and curatives or run past them I beat them all when I was level 10 by being smart and separating them.

Honestly, the overworld is always kind of shitty outside of the occasional surprise encounters, but you get a lot more interesting encounters quickly by doing main quests which also tend to lead you through the cool stuff on the overworld to reach them.

Place portcrystals well and use ferrystones. The less time you spend walking through the same places the better the game gets, because those goblin and wolves will always be at the same places.

My biggest problem during that fight was my main pawn was a mage/healer. However she would always walk right up to enemies like a retard and get annihilated so in close combat fights I was almost always without a healer.

Always hire a healer pawn and make your pawn some sort of fighting class seriously.

Bandits are notably stronger/weaker based on their gear and vocation. The bandits wearing bulkier armor are much harder to kill than ones with bare chests, for example. Rangers or warriors tend to shit out a ton of damage compared to striders, etc.

The game is designed around there occasionally being stuff in your way that you don't have to fight. Running away or past them is a totally viable tactic, or getting smart and using the tools the game gives you like throwing heavily armed bandits off a cliff. Or you can just overlevel it and come back, the game allows that too. Part of the joy of exploration is not knowing you'll immediately be able to overcome every single thing in your way, but you can do a lot more than you think with ingenuity.

Actually the more difficult bandits wear different things and have different weapons.

The really hard warrior bandits use a large mace instead of a lognsword, the fighters are fully decked out in plate armor, and some of the striders get replaced with rangers.
