bought the superior Evolution versions instead.
I bought Trails of Cold Steel, which is my first Legend of Heroes game, I was impressed to find a solid jRPG so I'm going to go back and play TitS once I'm done with CS
>starting a series on the 3rd arc
>unironically not being an Estellefag
Cold Steel was made to be a starting point for the series. Though I'd wait for Cold Steel 2 in a few months, easy to get burnt out on long RPGs like this, but than again maybe not for you.
You know that whole scene was bad althought Walter did push everyone back with his strenght but when Joshua appeared and kicked his ass was awfully bad, its like they completely understimate Walter abilities and made Joshua too op.
We dont know Yu Kanfai neither, maybe he is evil and part of Ouroboros in that case Arios was his best lol there is that theory among fans. Why an old man would be that mysterious?
>that Fateful Confrontation
What the fuck did they do to it? Why?
I downloaded it today, I can say the first disc is good. Most normal bosses, normal battles sound really good. Then we get to the second disc where the enforcers theme, fateful confrontation and Silver will >>324091917
among others totally suck.
Its a mixed bag.
They could have used part of the arrange at least:
The Estelle posting is making me go and buy the game once and for all, I want to see what's the deal.
Just tell me one thing: As someone who falls asleep with generic-ass fantasy JRPG, will I like it?
probably not. I like the game, mainly because it's the right type of "comfy" for me. However, I will say that it is a very slow burn, FC at least, and if you don't like that, you won't like the game. That being said, I still enjoy it for what it is
I don't mind a slow burn as long as it's fun or funny (slice of life stuff doesn't get enough love in JRPGs); I'm just worried about it being extremely generic and with nothing particularly standing out.
I stopped playing the game since it was boring me out of my skull. I heard the plot gets better than just generic fantasy I gotta find out who killed my dad shit, but then I got spoiled by someone saying it was just secret society mind control stuff.
Is it still worth playing?
>Spent 42 hours on FC.
>Literally no story or development whatsoever.
>It's one of the slowest games I've played.
Fuck it I'll just pirate SC.
>Play 14 hours of SC.
>Better but still has a shit ton of flaws with it.
>I literally could be having more fun playing Dark Souls blind than this.
I don't get what the big deal with these games are. I really couldn't recommend this game to anyone. I honestly regret even buying the first.
Sure did. Though you didn't make it easy with your endless hiatus translation hijinks and Falcom being dicks by insisting on "no japanese grunting for you!". Pity sales suck so far, which will probably mean we won't even get the third game.
It's Towa, that's why she is training Rean, to make him the perfect Enforcer.
That might be true, but I kind of doubt it.
I feel it might be someone we have met already, but that is an interesting theory.
This is probably most likely.
According to some japanese gook from 2ch the entire Trails series is only about 60% done. Can't wait until they show the rest of the people from Ouroboros and their backstories.
>this shit gets an anime series
Wait so Millium works for the same Intelligence Division that Cassius was running circles around in that report during FC? Wow, no wonder they are so bad if they have a kid like her around.
My only complaint about this game is I just can't seem to get into a grove for a long play session.
I think it's because I can't help but constnatly check a walkthrough. I'm too afraid I'll miss something because I didn't walk to the other end of the map in between taking to two npcs that are right next to each other.
Considering how many people actually beat FC and there is little point playing SC without beating FC, the numbers pretty much match up within expectation.
>tfw I was 5 points away from becoming rank A bracer
Oh boy, you're going to love Cold Steel then. It has a limit on the number of saves you can make. I had to overwrite old saves because the system wouldn't let me create new ones, it was hell
A boy falls in love with a boy.
Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with his sempai's arcus number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls him, and is overjoyed to find out that he has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the boy, he only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the boy he called is not the same sempai he fell in love with. In fact, he doesn't exist in this universe at all. He is his sempai's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of his crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
Estelle is best girl.
She single handedly changed my perception of the name Estelle from "old lady name" to "really nice name that I would consider using if I ever have a daughter."
Don't get me wrong, the game is good and all. But for my first play through I feel like I have been playing for a long time already.
Also would you a Joshua?
Xseed has not officially commented, but Tom on the xseed forums said something along the lines of SC's release seemingly causing a bunch of new sales for FC as well, and that of course gives them more money and could be looked at as success. For what it's worth.
Anyway, they seem to be expecting SC sales to be a long-term thing.
There is no shame in admiring Rixia Mao's ass
>mfw I remember a time, not that long ago, when I had to resort to going on 8ch to talk about Trails because Trails threads would get few replies here before they died
It's nice to see that Trails is doing better in the west now than it's ever been. Hope they can bring over the other games too.
I think this one would fit the description more for that.
Falcom pastebin guy here:
I just acquired the Trails SC Evolution soundtrack so here:
tell me what you think of the new tracks!
some guy put up a youtube playlist of them.
>tell me what you think of the new tracks!
you'll notice I didn't include the MP3 version in the actual pastebin. some guy was bugging me super hard for the MP3 version of FC Evo so I pre-emptively made an MP3 version so people wouldnt bitch at me for that version.
Get to it /v/, you got this month's request.
I personally hate the new Silver Will and Looking up at the Sky. They completely mutilated the latter.
Yeah, she's Megumi Sasaka of Falcom's recently formed idol group Real SPiKA. Not a fan
You're welcome man, your thanks is what keeps me going. Also yes
mfw seeing Laura play the drums during the concert. Holy fuck it looked awful
Le memelizations xD
The real problem vocal do not fit the song. Her voice fits the SPIKA songs as they were made for her vocals but not Trails in the Sky SC opening song. They would have been better off just making a new song for her.
If they really needed a replacement the singer who did the vocals for the Crossbell games and Sen games would have been a somewhat better fit.
What kinda bullshit power does he even have? And how does he compare to Kevin and Wazy?
yeah I get you, my big issue with the new opening track is that it doesn't have that cool low tone intro anymore and feels more like a traditional pop song
>Read the thread
The church in Kiseki is pretty interesting because despite all the churches we've seen (in the English games at least) being staffed by really nice people, you also get the impression that they're not an organization you wanna fuck with.
Wonder when we'll get a game set in the country where its Vatican is.
seriously i cant get over it
original Looking up at the Sky:
what the fuck man
Sen was made on a new engine and it was the first LOH they made not using that modded napishtim engine with pre-rendered sprites and isometric view.
>>Sen was made on a new engine and it was the first LOH they made not using that modded napishtim engine with pre-rendered sprites and isometric view.
I mean, I get that, I honestly do, but I feel that it shouldn't be so bad. I mean Sen is that demanding, so is that coding that bad?
How did the people responsible for Tita, the best and most endearing loli character ever, manage to create a character as awful as Millium? That little brat is straight up Neptunia-tier.
The lolis are really bad in coldsteel. Even if Tio has shitty cat ears on her head, she was still a good character. Renne get more development in crossbell and Kea was fine for a genki loli that brought the S.S.S together.
Enforcers are agents of ouroboros and ouroboros is a shady conspiratorial organization with massive resources and not much is really known about them. The final boss of Trails in the Sky SC was one of their Anguis, which appear to be like a higher level ouroboros agent. Cod Steel introduces another anguis at the end of the first game
Celceta is honestly my second favorite game after Oath, the world design was incredible and the dungeons in the second half of the game were a ton of fun.
Gale Shoes should be a requirement for every future Ys game
Oh yeah...? Well, I respect your opinion.... NOT, you fucking cuck! Die! *instacasts Ebina Clock (this is a double speed buff for me and a double speed debuff for you) and gets 3 turns in a row where I kill you before you can do anything*
They're good games, but combat will be a step diwn from CS to TiTS. CS has the more fun combat system.
With that said, prince Olivert is a playable character in the Sky games and he's fucking hilarious.
well, the roadblock standing in the way is that the zero/ao PC versions were chinese ports that dont even run at 1080p and are filled with DRM. only one of them, zero, was released in Japan on PC but that was just the chinese port with the DRM ripped out.
basically, who knows how much programming is needed to make them acceptable for a steam release - XSEED has high standards for their releases, so they're not going to leave all the shittiness of the chinese ports
thanks man. check out some of the other soundtracks, too - Ao's probably my favorite of the entire Trails series soundtracks
get a better portable music player, even my 200 dollar phone plays FLACs. sorry man I ain't converting over 100 gb of falcom music to MP3
>but combat will be a step diwn from CS to TiTS. CS has the more fun combat system
Yeah, I heard it's slower and arts are more of a focus than crafts. I heard the quartz system is more complex though.
Oh yeah the quartz system is definitely more complex. In CS you get arts right from quartz, but in Sky you need combinations of quartz to get different arts. And each character's orbments have different setups in terms of lines and such so WHERE you put the quartz matters just as much as which quartz you use. Moving a quartz from one line to another on the same orbment can make a big difference
>All these cool arts and stuff you can learn
>Game has a chart that shows all the ways to set things up for different magic powers
>Most efficient way to beat enemies is to ignore all that and whack them in the face
they backported the PSP improvements of trails to the PC version where the PC original didn't have them, put in higher res character art, et cetera. most localization companies don't bother with that kind of thing.
for ys, they added widescreen support when the originals had none, and even added a new difficulty setting for napishtim.
as someone who works in dev myself I can totally see how some of the issues with SC ended up accidentally making it to release, and they fixed most of the problems on the first week of release. note, i understand where the consumer's coming from in this case but, like, they really did a shitload of things for FC/SC. you should see what their bug-fixing blog looks like, whether it be black voids or teleporting or model swapping.
>they backported the PSP improvements of trails to the PC version where the PC original didn't have them
This was a mistake and only added to the bug load. I respect Sara's efforts to release the "best" possible versions, but sometimes her frankensteinizations can backfire on her and she's their only programmer
to be fair, i'm not saying you should waste space with FLACs because you can totally hear the difference. for me maintaining the pastebin I don't like wasting time converting bullshit.
i keep things in flac for archival purposes, not because i'm a hardcore audiophile
FC was unplayable for a lot of people on release day, it crashed on startup, when opening shops, it was a mess.
SC had significantly less glaring issues but still has its fair share. Exploding sprites, floating corpses for the minor stuff. Invisible walls everywhere (Chapter 6 is a gigantic pain in the ass with this shit) and broken event flags in the final chapter making a lot of people miss out on a boss fight for the really bad stuff.
Yes, it was a Christmas gift. But I'll have to wait until I finish the first game (I'm getting to the end of Chapter 3 of 4). Too bad I (obviously) can't move save files between the PSP and Steam.
MUH WIND's best costume is actually free
>tfw this moment will never be topped
Noel doesnt get enough love anywhere.
What about a fight with Grandmaster? Surely they are way more powerful than arianrhod.
>Arts come bundled with the quartz instead of being determined by total value of quartz in a line.
So is there even a point to different lines anymore apart from fucking with slot unlock costs?
Depending on how you did your first run, all you would need is the maxed notes instead. Max BP seems overkill, and too expensive.
No, you can only fast forward them. Shit sucks, you also have to play the prologue again
Well, I think we're judging based on different criteria here. I say pick max BP because the story and character interaction is what I play the series for, and max BP will let you see all the bonding events (minus festival stuff) in a single playthrough which is nice.
If you're trophy hunting or want completion then yeah, it's not the optimal choice.
Problem with the new system is that with the old one you could balance Stats and Arts, while the new one only let's you choose one or the other (Unless your grind your ass for U-materials to trade for rare quartz on Micht's shop)
>What about a fight with Grandmaster?
I think before we even consider what fighting the Grandmaster would be like, we need to know who the Grandmaster is.
It's Aidios, isn't it?
I hope Gaius, Emma and Millium have some character development in Cold Steel II, they're so boring and one-note in Cold Steel. Rean too, but I figure that's because they want him to be a harem everyman protagonist.
The problem with Gaius is that he is pretty much near grown up already and has the perfect life by kiseki standards with no baggage(Kiseki world is much more idealstic than our own to begin with anyway).
Well we should be learning what's the deal with Emma in Sen II, and Millium has that fight with the black robot girl in that game too, so they should have something set up at least.
Don't mind me goy, I'm just a bumbling archaeologist! :^) Without spoiling anything, is there a character in Cold Steel that's as sinister as Weissmann?
Well considering Fie, Alisa, and Laura are the three that are shown with Rean the most I wouldn't be surprised if they became the Robot pilots in Sen III.
So like, I got a bunch of cold steel tapestries I'm looking to sell one day
All of them from official limited editions, some are from falcom approved stores, and another from a Comiket Falcom stand
Do you think people would buy it if I put them for sale?
Why is Altina so much better than Millium?
The tail and her silent behavior makes it easier to take it seriously.
Depends where you sell them.
Laura is the best bet for the next robot pilot, but I get the feeling Alisa might be one since she is basically the main girl. Fie's arc is pretty complete, I feel and probably wouldn't benefit from a robot.
Well Rean's interactions with Altina and Dubarry are meant to be comedic. Heck most of his interactions with the antagonists in the intermission are rather comedic in nature.
sora and ao completed the main character's story
>Cold Steel I ends while everything is maximum happening and shit is going down hard
>people still say Cold Steel II is "nothing happens for 60 hours"
How? I mean, I'm not necessarily doubting it, but considering how the first one ends it just seems impossible.
FC doesn't really end with shit going down, it just ends with a twist. The main conflict has been solved and things are quiet on the surface. In comparison, the main conflict literally STARTS at the ending of Cold Steel.
That's not true
Shit happens I guess
It's just "eh, ok story doesn't go anywhere until end of the game"
Falcom said they had more serious parts of the civil war happening in the western part of Erebonia, well this is also said in the game
But Sen 2 draws out the eastern part of the civil war in Erebonia...where things aren't "that bad"
Falcom said it was because of vita's limitations they couldn't draw out more of the story in Sen 2, which is kind of an excuse for releasing the game the way they did
Seriously, people say "woahh Sora arc has slow ass pacing"
Well Sen doesn't move the story forward in 2 fucking games
That's 0 kelvin tier pacing
In the next game Patrick will get Rean to accept him as his brother in law.
They could have handle her better but oh well.
>still haven't finished FC because my wine config fucked up
Don't think I even got that far anyway, wish they'd release it on ps4 or something
>Galaxy Van Jyo as Galbalan
Where can I listen to this drama CD?
Wow, people weren't kidding about Cold Steel's ending being a blueballer.
>Sen does not tell a complete story.
It almost does. If the game ended after chapter six, replacing the festival shit with a duel with Japanese Name Man in Ymir, it would be about on par with FC as an ending.
It takes Sen two games to tell the story of internal political conflict whereas FC took just one game. FC's cliffhanger comes after the coup is resolved, not while the coup is about to happen
No it wouldn't, not even remotely. FC's main storyline is completely resolved by the end of the game, Sen's main storyline barely starts to reach its stride at the very end of the game.
Larger scale, smaller scale. FC and Sen 1&2 both tell of political struggle. The second game is supposed to bring Septerrion into main story, but Sen 2 fails at that too and still dawdles on civil war, and only relegates the exposition about Fire and Water Septerrion in ng+ novel volumes.
Sora arc you have the Sky Bandits as diversion villian. Sen arc you have the terrorists. Imagine having to fight the Sky Bandits until nearly the end of FC, and ending the game as you're beginning to retake Grancel Casttle. Sen I&II is so bloated that it needs two games to tell FC's story of political conflict while not even setting up the story of the two Septerrions in Erebonia.
You can trade for cosmetic accessories at Micht's shop. The huggies are DLC. That said, Renne huggy when? I want my waifu to be there to motivate me to play the game more.
If only DLC codes work cross PSN region cuz I got like 8 Renne/ Tio dlc codes for Asia region Sen II.
Sen 1's story isn't a larger scale than FC's when it's not even a complete story.
Sen 1 + Sen 2 are small time compared to the stories of the other arcs by the end of their second games.
SC incorporates Septerrion of Space to main story
Ao incorporates Septerrion of Mirage to main story
Sen II talks about Septerrion of Fire and Water in black history volumes that's only somehow related to justify two robots fighting at the end of civil war
because the story of Sen I and II areabout the political war, not ouroboros and the septerrion. This is not that hard to grasp. I honestly can't help but wonder if nipfags have autism, since all the shitting I see on Sen from them is "waahh it doesn't follow the usual formula boo hoo'
I don't even give a fuck about there being Septerrions in the story or not, I'm just not happy about Sen 1 & 2 covering less ground together than any other single game in the entire fucking series.
FC didn't tell a complete story simply by way of ending on a cliffhanger. The game ends with the mastermind of everything, coup included, being exposed. That is not a complete story, it completed one story arc.
Sen told us what was at the bottom of the schoolhouse, but didn't resolve the terrorist plot. It's not that different.
>The game ends with the mastermind of everything, coup included, being exposed. That is not a complete story, it completed one story arc.
Now you're just arguing semantics.
FC concludes the coup while setting stage for the real mastermind in the next game as well as resolving the minor Sky Bandit plot and telling us what was at the bottom of the Grancel Castle.
>It's not that different.
You're right, it takes Sen 2 games to cover as much ground as FC did in one game.
FC's main storyline is the Intelligence Division's coup d'état to take over Liberl. Its secondary plot is the story of Estelle and Joshua, which isn't resolved until SC.
Sen's main storyline is the civil war in Erebonia. This isn't resolved until Sen II (if you can call that a "resolution"). The secondary plot, the mystery of the old schoolhouse, is technically resolved, even though there isn't any explanation given for the result of it (even in Sen II).
tl;dr you're a retarded Sen apologist
Taste aside, wasn't he able to choose a girl? I heard the girls will raise a flag if Rean choose one of them as a dance partner
Also my link with Alisa and Laura is at lv.5 so that couldn't be the issue
>game tells a full story
>reveals a twist that sets up a completely different story for the next game IN THE EPILOGUE, IE AFTER THE END OF THE GAME
>durr it's not a full story
Fuck you. Sen ended on a cliffhanger. FC ended on a twist.
>so triggered by people playing the games in order and not conforming to the same shit taste as you that you that you refuse to play a game and shit on characters from the games you haven't played out of anger
>somehow this is more cancerous than not liking mediocre games
I said I dislike Renne, bog whoop.
Maybe if you would stop treating your Sora games as a religion you might be less rabid. And I still dislike Renne, too bad.
I think I'm just going to stop going to Trails threads, you Skyfags are literally the worst and most elitish.
You guys make Soulsfags look tame.
Because Kevin is a grown up man who already found himself in live, loves kids and almost always cheery and optimistic. Affiliated with religious organization on top of it plus a bow user. Typical JRPG player needs something far more generic, preferably with a sword or katana.
like, i'm totally just a guy enjoying the games casually and that's normal, lol
people who enjoy it in a deeper and more interested than me
i'll just call them autists, that will show those nerds
it's not like i have shit taste, no
i just don't care about the series like they do
why can't they just let me enjoy things casually?
fucking autists i tell you, we're not obsessed like you are, we barely even care about this series
of course our opinion matters just as much as yours
right...? if you don't agree i'll just call you an autist again
