Fuck you /v/ this was the only game since dark souls that actually made me feel good.
/v/ is hipster
We hate it because it's popular.
>all this love and hate for this dumb game
It's a completely mediocre game that doesn't deserve such extremes in attention.
It is clever and breaks the 4th wall in unique ways, sure. Story is neat, yeah. But the actual GAME part of this videogame? You have nothing to explore, items/equipment are barley important or even in the game, the fighting mechanic gets monotonous half way through (excluding a few nice boss battles) and it is short, which is good or bad depending on who you ask.
I can see why this resonates so much with people who probably prefer story over gameplay at least, but because I am not one of those people it seems like a completely average game to me. It's not bad enough to be worth hating on; it's just forgettable at worse.
I hear you OP, it actually made me feel good. It's not the best game ever, but I enjoyed it
people who hate the game because of an autistic fanbase are worse than the people praising it
Why would you hate it for that? Children's opinions don't matter when taking a game's quality into account, and if you are referring to the GOAT poll, it was obviously rigged, so who cares.
It's another game that /v/ hates because of the fans. Undertale had amazing threads when the demo released, as did Dark Souls - the problem is that shut-ins across the internet take a good game and warp their personality around it. It's disgusting.
This. Other Earthbound clones have done better games with a better gameplay-to-story ratio.
That being said, for a game as short as Undertale, which could be completed in less than 10 hours, i think it has enough content.
no "we" hate it because you tumblards ignore any posts with actual criticism against it while pretending /v/ hasn't already shat this game down the toilet so much already it deserves nothing but shitposting anymore
>make demo that groups you associate with like
>game finally releases
>said groups love game
>suddenly the completely wrong crowds likes your game after some time passes
>sales skyrocket but these people are completely taking your game out of context and getting the wrong message from it
>spawning awful content that isn't porn or in character comics
Holy shit, you really are autistic. /v/ is not tumblr, and most of us understand critisism and maybe even agree with it. You're taking everything way to seriously.
That's why i'm tired of this fucking generation: everyone take everything too damn seriously, turning the first things that appears under the sun into a flamewar. It's stressing, i cannot have fun or enjoy art in general because of this.
You're all the same. Tumblr, reddit, 4chan, facebook. You just chose one side of the playground. And i'm watching as everyone beat eachother into a pulp.
Playing the game the first time without any intervention from the internet and only knowing about the porn that came from the demo really was a trip.
Especially when only going for pacifist just because Toriel told you so.
I'm kind of old (27) so games make me feel at least decent just by playing them.
Undertale was completely neutral to me. I'm not a furry or a moron, so it just felt like Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest with some idiotic hipster flavor.
The writing is alright, the design is pretty good but I think emotion played far too much into the critique of this game. People did insanely innovated shit ten years ago but nobody cared because hipsters hadn't regurgitated into gaming yet.
>Fuck you /v/ this was the only game since dark souls that actually made me feel good.
The problem is that you want to feel good.
People hate it because its getting overhyped. It was fun and neat for what it was, but people are treating it like the second coming of jesus when it isn't.
This kind of thing tends to happen when it comes to games that elicit emotional connection.
Other examples of this are:
The Last of Us.
And were else are we supposed to discuss videogames? Tumblr and Reddit are full of children who just discovered something deeper than mario, and other forums are full of autists.
Maybe you should take notice, or understand that we know about this sort of thing (gaming).
>I'm going to be a game designer!
Yeah, that's nice. Meanwhile I see no reason to justify what I do to others, kid. I remember my dirty, grubby hands being excited about those tiny pixels on pokemon red.
We're not old, we're seasoned.
I'm seriously having problems trying to understand this post.
>Undyne is smiling as if nothing is wrong
Ultimately, you're right.
It's not a game for this portion of time. It relies heavily on story. If it was a game released in the 90's to early 2000's it would have been slaughtered..
It would have had to deal with games that are the staple, and built the boundries for our time. Nevermind how you fucked around with 8-16 bit.
It's OK to have a stick up your asses or even fail to move your dead heat cold hearts. But there is no justification of trying to bait or trash talk Underail, an indie artist poured his heart into this game and it accomplishes more than what you shit triple A game studios can shill out.
Go out and play in the sunshine you are wasting your mother's income
If you have a non-hypocritical reason for hating Undertale, then by all means, you're more than welcome to hate it.
If you hate it for some dumb reason, like "le graphics are terrible" but you enjoy 3DS games, or the latest PS4 movie that lags at 10 FPS, then I'm afraid I'm gonna have to call you out for having a double standard.
Or if you hate it because it has memes, but you play Splatoon or Metal Gear Solid or Kid Icarus, then again I'll have to ask you to hold up.
Most anything else about the game is fair game to nitpick.
It's complete garbage.
I've played Undertale twice, just trying to figure out why it's supposed to be good with no way to figure it out.
It's fucking bad.
I can only assume it's fur bait or there's some other reason for people liking it. It's very mediocre.
I commend the developer for doing it by himself but it's not very good.
Why does anyone give a shit about graphics in a game like this? It had a couple of cool looking scenes despite its stupid pixel direction that made me think the creator is probably a talented artist and the simplistic look is a choice. Either way, I really don't think it would have been necessary for them to invest the time and money making it look different. If you're not determined to hate it, the look has kind of a charm to it. I much prefer it to generic games with AAA graphics.
I tried to like it from every point.
It's just an empty, unlikable game. I tried to like it but it's just not very good. It's very tedious and just very hard to enjoy.
It is at the core, a bad game. There are game boy games better than it.
You don't like it. That's fine. If someone says you have to like it, or they try to force you to like it, then they're in the wrong. You're entitled to your opinion.
It's okay. The mean men won't make you like something you don't like.
>I can't understand why people like it.
Don't worry, its not your fault that you don't have a soul. It does however get really tiring always having to deal with you at the end of the game.
I don't understand this criticism. I've been playing it today, and I really like the sense of purpose it has from not having any meaningless sidequests. I don't think it's my favourite game ever, and it's certainly overhyped, but I don't think it's empty at all.
Deal with it.
I severely respect the effort that the developer took to make this game, I do. I mean, even try to do anything in some simple shit like Unity.
Nothing is clumsy about what he did. Yet it's very badly done.
It's like crafting a turd into a swan. Then the audience is like "LOOK AT THIS TURD, IT IS AMAZING."
I think it's incredible what one guy did in development. yet this is not a great game. His effort is incredible, and worthy of awards, his game is not.
> /v/ hates Undertale
> /v/ loves FFXIV
I understand. Its one of those games where you either get attached to the game's story really quickly, or you find it boring and predictable and quit. Its ok yo, I respect you're opinion.
The Witcher and the new Call of Duty.
Games were never, ever meant to project your dumbass message. Games are for having fun.
You love your fans, and art comes later. When your forget about loving your fans then you're not making games anymore, you're just masturbating.
>games are for having fun
>likes Call of Duty
I thought it was pretty nice. My only experience was playing it with my sister and her boyfriend for ten munutes with Advanced.
10-1 on an Xbox one or whatever. God they're terrible. They might be well...not shit if they played quake or unreal.
No offense, but I found it to be boring garbage. Another generic brown shooter where you kill people with guns. It didn't show any improvement from the previous installment, and was the epitome of rehashed.
But you did list Witcher 3 as well, so I will give you credit there. That's a tight game, despite me having some issues with it.
Eh, I'm impossible to beat in Unreal Tournament. These new games are pretty strange to me. They still didn't know how to take me out because I understood the Quake engine immediately.
I typically don't like multiplayer games now anyways.
Its a fucking meme trash game.
Full of tumblr touchy feely junk, and it even punishes you for wanting power, what's up with that? The story is the worst, nothing but power of shonen friendship shit you have heard time and again. I honestly can't understand it, cause in this world, its ki, I mean gameplay as the important point of the game, or nothing. I just don't get it, which is why I abandoned it a while ago.
Oh look its this thread again. Reminder to sage and block undertale subs.
I honestly hope that the new Unreal will be good,or even great. Fast combat is making a full circle in the FPS genre and they really should not fuck it up.
We don't need more Halo. and the new Doom seems to be shoving that out. It's strange because Unreal used to be about flagrant insults, and predated all this shit.
It may be hard for those new to the genre, but hearing SANS IS TEH HARDEST BOSS IN VIDYA is really annoying. Trust me, a lot of people really think so
To add, back then mostly educated people played Unreal. Scientists or doctors from all over the world used to make other people angry over banter.
We should not change that.
It made it insanely fun. It could only be better now.
>dodging his attacks with ease
>Mastered fighting Turiel and Assgore
>suddenly rainbow visuals and guitars
>he says, posting using a character from the game
This fucking nails my thoughts on Undertale. The combination of a clever narrative and some unique gameplay mechanics that don't immediately fall flat on their face served as the perfect distraction from how painfully average Undertale really is.
It gives me flashbacks of how pic related was received upon its release. (granted, at least Undertale tried something new.)
Oh really? I wonder which of us is the real idiot here?
You just want to see me suffer, don't you faggot?
He was just referring to /v/, just like the OP is mentioning, retardos.
