Anyway, in SOTFS they basicly softban you if they detect you are using a program that injects into the game (which is what things like reshade and enb do).
What it means is that it just puts you into a pool where you can only play online with other people that got softbanned.

So for example Siegmeyer can die heroically "defending" you from the Chaos Eaters but I consider the canon ending to be the one that takes place at Ash Lake.

You start as a hunter slaying beasts in Yharnam and I was so intrigued by these 'Hunters' that I didn't know anything about and how the people in Yharnam reacted to me. It wasn't in the network test, but using embers (the new humanity) gives you a big health boost. Without being embered you have less health so when you die and loes your ember you have less health, but it doesn't keep going down the more you die.

In lordran time is convoluted and folds in on itself, there are countless timelines converging in this one point, every timeline has a chosen undead, some light the fire, some walk away, but it doesn't matter, both endings are canon, fire WILL fade, if the chosen undead rekindles it, it will only burn for a short time, couple decades, centuries maybe, then it will start fading, if the chosen undead walks away, the fire will only fade sooner, the outcome is the same. games simply play far enough from one another chronologically that fading of the flame has played itself out regardless of the action taken by chosen undead.
The only thing I'll be pissed about is if the serpents don't show up in 3.

Didn't bother finishing DSII: was it ever explained why the world was still around? I thought it pretty much dead in DSI, with you either giving it another cycle of life, or pulling the plug.
We don't know what a complete Dark Souls would do. What we see in the game is the world in a chaotic limbo from having neither proper life nor proper death. Who's to say that the age of Dark would be less prosperous than the Age of Fire? Would of course be prosperous in a different way but we have no idea how.
Killing and taking humanity from others isn't necessarily the only way to unite the Dark Soul's power, just the simplest. Gwyn already proved it's possible to do other shit with the Souls from the first flame.
As it turns out regardless of whether you linked the fire or not some random Undead keeps showing up from nowhere to link it in your place. And then a new kingdom will rise up. And then the fire will go out. And then ANOTHER undead will link the fire. And this just keeps happening in a cycle non-stop.
Actually, people claim that it shouldn't be possible that gear from the first game is still around but it makes sense. The Monastery Scimitar claims that they were simply replicated from the Painting Guardian Scimitars from DS1, so it's safe to assume every piece of equipment is merely just mass-produced gear.
