The Division downgrade
>watch first gameplay video
>car and cover getting riddled with bullets
>honestly the effect is better than any other game and strikes a perfect balance between realism and 'coolness factor'
>animations look great
>enemy AI is being vaguely tactical
>mfw he shoots a guy in the head and a number pops up and detracts from his health bar
This game can go fuck itself.
>Bullet Sponges: The Game
>Ned Pansy name on it, so it features evil communists at some point
>Game not available in English in my region
You can go fuck yourself, ubisoft.
TPS with bullet sponge enemies
we already have that
and it's shit
>borderlands style bulletsponge enemies in a game with a realistic setting and tone
How is this acceptable?
How about they have a realistic estimate of how the game is gonna look like instead of showing us bullshots to hype the game? That way no one would bitch about downgrade or the fact that it can't run on a console/low-end PC.
Yeah we know, there was an insider who came out and said before this preview that the game had already been significantly altered to make sure PC and consoles don't look too different visually.
Graphics look pretty poo, even for current gen consoles.
Game actually looks like a good idea and a lot of fun to play with friends. Only massive downside is the massive bulletsponge enemies that they seem to have stocked the game with.
Everyone who keeps saying UBISOFT LOL AS EXPECTED
do you seriously think Ubisoft wants their games to look like shit? you seriously don't even consider the publishers to be at fault in any way?
time and time again it has been proven that publishers are afraid of PC versions cannibalizing console sales due to superior tech. therefore, many features are deliberately disabled so that both versions look roughly the same. if the console chugs or framerate dips on console, those elements will be removed from both versions to ensure the consumer feels like they will get the same product regardless of platform.
only spergs like /v/ notice downgrades in the final product. normies will buy them and never care that there is less fancy lighting or no dynamic shadows or whatever
they will just be happy when they push the button and he shoot the gun, that's all publishers are aiming to satisfy when it comes to ubisoft
the devs at ubi would obviously not want to strip down their own creation. they aren't given a choice in the matter, meet the deadline or you're fired
pretty much the same idea yeah. The only difference is that instead of the crucible you have a medium sized pvp area that acts like a mini version of day z with some extra features
In an ideal world that would be the law, yes.
Unfortunately the people who actually develop (as in code, render, stay up all night bugfixing, etc) AAA games are basically a step above slave labor and are at all times obligated to obey the unreasonable demands of publishers, investors, and sometimes even a project leader who brings everything to a halt because he/she is not satisfied with something and won't sign off on anymore milestones until their autism is satisfied
>rockstar has been always known to be crazy good at optimizing their own engines
>GTA IV at PC launch
>it's a tactical game so it has to be realistic
It's first and foremost a RPG. You complain about how it's unrealistic for enemies to eat all those bullets yet you say nothing about how you yourself can withstand the same amount of bullets.
Get over it.
"Trash moving in the wind" is a bigger deal than you're making it out to be. ALL the little details are gone. Light shining through bullet holes. Haze, smoke in the air. Texture detail looks last gen. Lighting is bland. Even the animations look shit compared to the original trailers too.
If all you care about is gameplay just play Destiny I guess, it's a better version of this MMO-style garbage than The Division will ever be.
kinda ruins the fun, 3 bullets to the head should be sufficient for every shooter out there
seriously these guys withstand an entire magazine from close range.. Now I dont want instagib, but there is a limit man
I don't know why you're defending Ubisoft. Graphics matter to you too, otherwise you wouldn't even need a next-gen system. Gameplay hasn't changed dramatically since like 1995.
20? I counted multiple magazines
more like 100 bullets to kill an enemy from close range
so a firefight with 10 guys or so would require hundreds of bullets, this is fucking bullshit man
>if all you care about is gameplay
You make it sound like gameplay is bad, it isn't. Gameplay > everything else. Also you can not say Destiny is better when you clearly haven't played Division. I swear, people get the biggest hard ons from hating on a game and ironically, they haven't played it but hey welcome to /v/ I guess...
It's still a mystery to me that gtav runs pretty good on the 360
>5 times less draw distance than next gen console, which is 5 times less than pc version
>3/4 of the static objects are removed
>minecraft tier textures
>npc pop in literally in front of you
GTAV runs like shit on PS4, last gen version is a disaster.
I like the idea of "The Dark Zone" though: a PvP concentrated area that hosts some of the best loot in the game versus the risk of getting ganked hard and losing it all.
Might b cool.
Tactical Shooters and RPG's do not mix well, either it stops being a tactical shooter or the RPG part is largely ignored.
So congratulations, in this bastard child we got a shitty tactical shooter and a mediocre RPG. Hope you preordered.
that gameplay looks like absolute dogshit.
i assumed it was gonna be a kind of multiplayer survival thing and now it's a third person shooter mmorpg
Into the trash it goes, to be expected of ubisoft
Graphics do matter to a certain point I guess, but the game honestly doesn't look bad to me. I'm not defending Ubisoft, I'm just baffled on how you think the atmosphere has drastically changed.
I can't put it down to minute graphical details, I can't tell you exactly why it looks bad, it just does imo. The original reveal had a true NYC vibe, a really good sense of place, this just looks like a cartoon to me. Looks like a last gen title.
Don't act like I'm the only one, there wouldn't be this much of an outrage if people didn't think there was a big difference
Only way to show them that it's Bullshit and stop them from doing it, is to not buy it. But you and everyone else will at some point so they have 0 reason to stop until they see that sweet bank account empty.
Patriots is basically a mix of both, isn't? Siege was made after their original plan for the hostage situations and other in-door sections of the game, perhaps even Multiplayer. The Division seems to have borrowed some story elements from the rough draft of patriots and taken them in a different direction.
We'll never know, though, because now that Tom has died we won't even get his idea in a book. Fuck, man, patriots was gonna have an original story by him and shit and now it ain't happening.
I didn't pre order but I'll buy it. I like wall cover games and RPGs, especially if its third person. That's why I played Gears of War professionally and I still play TLoU online pretty much everyday.
Also why isn't it tactical, because bullet sponges? If anything, it makes it more tactical because you need to use other means of getting damage done or even combine attacks with your buddies.
You realize power is relative right? PCs have ALWAYS been more powerful. The jump from PS3 to PS4 is still huge. It doesn't make sense, the consoles should be able to handle the original graphics of The Division. Ubisoft is just absolute garbage at optimization.
This is amazingly, spectacularly bad. Obvious graphical downgrade and animation issues aside, even, the game just seems terrible. The AI is awful, enemies just kind of run to their target and sometimes take cover (in illogical places too), instead of, like, using guns to shoot. The guns don't seem to do much damage against mobs, which is fine if you shoot aliens or robots or demons, but against dudes in hoodies it just feels weird. The guns don't seem to have much weight or recoil to them either. Who are they targeting? Borderlands (shut up, I like it) has flashy art style and setting and crazy explosive and elemental weapons and huge monster enemies. Destiny has... uh, really cool weapon designs. This game was supposed to have amazing graphics and vaguely tactical gameplay, but it's obvious now it lacks either.
I think they could work together, but honestly a boring ass setting like the Division's doesn't really work. It would be a lot cooler in a high tech setting with cyborgs, aliens, mechs, mutants, etc. Common human enemies only work for fantasy rpgs.
>This gen consoles are practically mid end PC's from 2013
You are overestimating consoles. They are like a low end pc from 2011 actually. The components are like toaster laptop tier.
"Bullet Sponges" >>>>> AWP one-hit-kill garbage
low-ttk only rewards the shittiest types of players, this is why Halo is more enjoyable than CoD
you do realize it's PvE right
Haha, oh god, I didn't even realise it. Maybe it's something about how they gotta keep the chaos high to loot or whatever nonsense they'll come up with to explain hordes of looters running around like it's a bad Borderlands knock-off
which is kind of is.
What the fuck. It's a shitty third person shooter. You don't need fucking experience points and levels in an online shooter. The only reason devs shoe-horn this bullshit into online shooters is so they can sell pay 2 win bullshit in their in-game shops.
This game is shit.
>Bullet sponge enemies
>It's ok cuz RPG
I'll never under stand why people got so hyped for this.
Everything about it looked incredibly generic and repetitive. Not even mentioning how it was over promising on the online connectivity.
>PCs have ALWAYS been more powerful.
Compare the N64 version of Rogue Squadron with the expansion pack to the PC version. Not to mention I'm not even sure how much said computer would cost.
PC gaming being so powerful and better in every way to Consoles is more of a recent development.
It looked shit in E3. It's a generic game piggybacking off of The DayZ survival MMO craze, minus base building.
The only thing it had marginally going for it was the graphics, which you should have KNOWN were going to get downgraded.
The setting is bland and uninspired, the gunplay looks like shit, the enemies are all bullet sponges and it's yet more PvP "emergent" gameplay bullshit that gets boring after 5 mintues because you realize "emergent" means they did fuck all to program cool environmental mechanics in the hopes that the people playing it make it interesting.
It's unadulterated shit and it will flop and flop hard.
The only decent looking game coming out from Ubisoft is Ghost Recon, and I fully expect that we'll see lots of LOD drawbacks the next time it gets shown. Hopefully it manages to actually innovate in the open world sector of video games, something like Dwarf Fortress with an actual persistent population.
Ubisoft publishes their own games, you drooling imbecile.
All their fuckups are entirely their own fault.
their company has divisions idiot, the coders and people who add all those nice visual effects have no say in whether those get to stay, if it can't work on console they are told specifically to downgrade until the game looks generally the same on both platforms at a stable framerate
