A few years ago this was true, but recently Sonic has become very self-aware on pretty much every front. Most of the fans constantly poke fun at how hammy and tryhard it is, leaving very little left to take it seriously (and those who do are usually very young, which you can't really blame them for.) Guys like Chris-chan are relics now and even he has mostly moved on from his Sonic obsession to his weird tranny adventures. Sonic is now far less autistic than a lot of fanbases because it's so steeped in irony. It's one of the few examples of normalfags entering a hobby proving to be beneficial.

TES lore is deep and actually requires you to play the game and absorb it yourself - even with secondary materials like a wiki it's almost impossible to find all the lore and story to it and that keeps it from gaining an autistic fanbase.

That said, the fanbase is basically tumblr distilled. They're obsessed with the identities of the gems, way more than they are about the actual content of the show. And they're violently militant about it. Enough that they badgered a girl into trying to commit suicide and then acting like she still owed them an apology.

And they're incredibly self-righteous about it. You know the types, right? They're convinced they're on the right side of history, or they're in some special group, or some other nonsense which justifies all of their horrid actions.

And that's just scratching the surface. There were plot twists planned out like 7 years before they actually happened. Bionicle lore is anything but accessible, but manages to have one of the most autistic fanbases I've ever seen, almost exclusively because of the create-a-character aspect being so encouraged.

The tumblr side of the undertale fanbase can get bad, but nothing, NOTHING, can get close to sonic levels. It is the king and it will stay the king for a long time. Fnaf and mlp tried to dethrone it and did a good job but still failed.
I hope i live to see the day where a fanbase gets more stupid and cancerous then the sonic one.

Five Nights at Freddy's is an interesting case, because a lot of people don't give a shit about it anymore. Most of the horrible autists that made up the fanbase moved on to Undertale, and a lot of the few good people dispersed elsewhere. Overall, the ratio of good to bad is still the same, but the bad isn't as bad, the good isn't as good, and the total autistic output is way lower than most other bad fanbases.
