>>324023763 Any sane person who wanted the small version waited, after they literally pretended that the N3DS didn't existed just because it wasn't announced for NA I was sure they would release it soon or later
Fatal frame-censored and digital only was a kick in the pants >why would anybody prefer physical over digital!? Gee I don't know you stupid fuck because it's been $50 since its release in October? If there was a physical version I could probably find it for $20 >lol poorfag! No
>>324023328 >Amiibo scarcity That seems to be a NoA problem. Here in Europe you can still get a shitload of amiibos, even some of the rare ones. Scalpers aren't as common here as in the land of the scam.
>>324024140 People will care about it, because it's content and on disc disc locked content. You should be able to access everything in a game for free, except the online connectivity between two people.
I thoroughly enjoyed Twilight Princess, but it ended up being my last zelda. The ones after it never caught my attention enough to get me to buy more Wii games, and I didn't even know the Wii U was a separate console. I thought it was like the Kinect for the 360. What horrendous marketing on Nintendo's part because I probably would have considered a Wii U over an Xbox One had I known.
i think when they announced the nintendo DS and released the wii, my faith in nintendo died. it hasnt changed since, i really thought we were gonna get more core games on nintendo gamecube and maybe wii. that never happened.
>>324024404 >If it were Sony or Microsoft doing this it would be universally hated They already are without the physical plastic part, dunno why the fact that the dlc is in a badly modeled plastic figure excuses of anything.
The Wii U. It proved without a doubt that Nintendo is behind the times, content with making gimmicky, underpowered toys for children and banking on name recognition alone to push products. It's even worse when you consider their regional branches. Nintendo of America is backwards and out of touch with its market, pandering to the wrong people and doing so in an embarrassing way. Nintendo of Europe is as apathetic as their market, they don't try because they know their consumers don't care. Nintendo Australia is... well, Australia.
>>324024484 I still remember watching the reveal. >all those leaked animal crossing amiibos before >Wii u animal crossing plaza >it's all but confirmed >trailer starts, think to myself "here it is! I knew it" You know the rest
>>324024827 I own like 4 amiibo because of bundleshit and a couple of them are even better than the ones shown online, but it might just be because Nintendo got better about the amiibo situation after they started selling a bit.
Especially the Animal Crossing ones. Look at that fucking sweater.
>>324024976 pokémon was never good. Play one and you've played them all, and it is painfully unbalanced. The game doesn't urge you at all to train more than one pokémon, on my first game I just used my cyndaquill only and I never had to stop and train or use another pokémon because typhlosion would just quick-attack everything dead in one hit. 2/10 okay concept but needs to be reworked.
>>324024974 I like breaking appendages but they really could have made locking onto different appendages more graceful.
It's fine when you're in a mech and you can just fly around to the appendage you want to break but not all appendages are open to the mech and then you have to move to ground combat and in ground combat you've got to jump around, wiggle the camera around, jump up a wall, spin around in circles if you want to get the game to decide to lock onto the appendage you want to break.
It's MMO combat, and the character building is fun and full of depth and customization. The combat itself is more or less like the previous game, sure chain attacks are out but you've got overdrive and robots this time so I think it balances out. What were you really expecting though that made you so disappointed with this one?
I don't know what it is, but I've recently realized how behind the times Nintendo really is. It's like they're stuck in the 90s and refuse to progress, so no one but rabid fanboys takes them seriously anymore. I've often seen them completely excluded from the conversation when discussions of modern games come up, or if they are mentioned, it's for a quick joke.
>>324024976 >>324025236 You're both wrong. It's a perfectly average game series. Every entry has numerous flaws, but it still stands as one of the only competitive jrpgs that allow you to choose from hundreds of party members.
>a game from 2009 by a 3rd party studio >a game from 2011 that only turned out bad because they needed to rush out content for 3DS >it's okay when other companies do it >white Wii U and N3DS is actually a fair complaint, they should've gotten that right from the beginning >an unreleased spinoff game by a company that isn't known for making proper metroid games in the first place
I wonder how you've even became a fan of nintendo in the first place. this is literally NOTHING. you could list just as many crappy things any company has done in the same span of time (we're talking 7 years here), and by comparison Nintendo's recent mistakes wouldn't look that bad at all.
>>324024914 Maybe if we're just talking about the black spats and sports bra under the swimsuit I could understand, but with he swimsuit over it? Fucking no, that looks terrible, what's wrong with you?
>>324022160 The game and a half they released for Wii U.
I mean the Wii was shit but that was expected. Wii U they pretended it had a real controller which they promptly ignored, that we'd get high quality graphics which has yet to happen, that the gamepad would be awesome and change the way we play but lolnope it's just for maps.
I don't even mind Amiibos becauae you can ignore them. I don't mind the shitty half assed games because they showed last gen they were out of ideas.
Fuck Nintendo. NX could literally suck my dick and I wouldn't buy it.
>>324025721 I don't even like Lin or dress characters in swimsuits, I just don't like the fact it was changed in general.
It's like now I know my game is forever tarnished compared to the nip version. It's just this niggling feeling like when you're hanging out with a guy you know used to go out with your girl and you know they at some point fucked before they she met you. It not enough for you to ever say anything, but it's there.
censorship has been around in nintendo vidya for DECADES
this isn't new, you're feel like this is something new or unexpected. Nintendo only let up during the GC/early Wii days because they were feeling pressure from the other companies for being for more "mature" audiences and they were losing relevance.
Except that won't work because the average /v/ user isn't Nintendo's primary market. They go after kids, families, and "casual" gamers who still snap up every Mario and Zelda and party game Nintendo shits out. A handful of virgin 20-something neckbeards not buying their shit would barely scratch their profits.
It will probably be the insane censorship/content removal in FE Fates. If they fuck it up I'm just done with them. Honorable mentions go to the game draught over the past year or so and stream of incredibly bland titles. Oh and scarcity of amiibo and collectors editions, NoA in general, and refusal to grow with classic fans to try and gain a new generation that just isn't interested in Mario.
>>324026479 >GC/early Wii days because they were feeling pressure from the other companies for being for more "mature" audiences and they were losing relevance. How is that different from right now? the wii peak audience fucked off to minecraft and mobile, all they have left is the deep fans and they still do this.
>>324022160 Probably the announcement of the Wii U itself
Other notable breaking points include: -Censoring of games brought to the West -Announcement of Amiibos and Amiibo-exclusive content -Announcement of the NX less than two years after the release of the Wii U -NX set to replace both the Wii U and 3DS -Lack of shipments for Nintendo games, bringing to sky-high prices early in their life cycle
>>324022160 Has there been any official word if the amiibo will be sold separately or included with the game? If we have a case like with the new Chibi Robo where only people who bought it used miss out then I think this is fine. If you have to pay the usual $12 for the amiibo then this is bullshit.
>>324023328 Nintendo was really banking on the 3D function to catch on with the 3DS. But yea it should have had at least two analog sticks from the very start. Even the N3DS nipple stick feels weird for some games.
>>324025898 I never needed to grind. Your starter levels up enough to beat anything as you go through it. In pokemon gold atleast. The game gave me no reason to switch it up, and games that require you to "make your own fun" are dumb and lazy.
>>324026479 >censorship has been around in nintendo vidya for DECADES When did I say anything to the contrary?
>Nintendo only let up during the GC/early Wii days Well, no. If you recall censorship used to be pretty bad back before we had an ESRB because no one wanted to offed the stupids and attract the ire of those people who were at that point still focusing on rock music, violent action movies, and comic books. Then Mortal Kombat came along and ruined everything for everybody and after a major shitstorm and some congressional hearings we ended up with ESRB and censorship kinda died back down.
That's not to say it wasn't happening it just wasn't as much as a big deal and so long as a game wasn't getting an AO it could do basically anything it wanted.
But it's back and as a result Xenoblade X is got this black mark on it that you can't just wipe away. You can try to ignore it and tell yourself you don't care, I mean they censored away Albedo's knife in Saga on the PS2 and that was kinda worse, but you still know what's been changed you still know there should have been a booby slider in there, and telling yourself it doesn't matter or you don't care isn't going make it go away.
It's just regrettable and stupid, but it's the game we got and that's better than nothing right?
>>324027079 >Even the N3DS nipple stick feels weird for some games. The nipple is fine for camera control, but for aiming its atrocious, i have better time playing Kid Icarus with the face buttons for aim than the nipple.
>>324024782 On disc DLC, physical paywall for said DLC, 60 dolaridooos for a remaster with only one extra level. This is literally wrong whoever does it. Remember all the shit ea got only for the On Disc dlc?
>>324027454 I see your point. Usually big games like Zelda are only a few bucks cheaper used so getting it new isn't too big of a deal for many people, but places where finding a new copy is more difficult would have issues with this.
>>324027469 Extra characters and classes in a game that could be considered complete without the DLC isn't so bad considering the state of western DLC is that you get a 60$ game with no single player and 5 maps and you have to pay 30$ per extra map.
>>324027809 I did have a 360. I regret both and should have just got a ps3. There's not too many ps3 exclusives I wanted, but they're better what the 360 and wii have to offer. I learned my lesson though, I stick to pc and never will buy a console again.
>thinking that boycotting Nintendo will change anything
Literal retards, all of you. Nintendo will only see you as being not part of their audience. The only way to really change things for the better is to constantly email Nintendo, post on miiverse, etc to let them know about your complaints. They'll find out sooner or later that people hate getting locked out of content and forced to buy amiibos and shit, but only if you actually DO SOMETHING other than angrily post on /v/ about how you're "done" with Nintendo
>>324024782 What? The standard is having 2-3 games remastered for 40$. Look at Kingdom Hearts 1.5HD, 2.5HD, 2.8HD. Look at the Sly Cooper collection. The Ratchet & Clank collection. The Ico/SotC collection. The Uncharted collection. The Metroid Prime collection. The Master Chief collection. I could go on.
Nintendo released 4 Zelda remasters THIS GEN individually and at full price for their system. This time around, they are apparently adding extra content but they're locking it behind a sold-out trinket.
>>324028131 >Nintendo released 4 Zelda remasters THIS GEN individually and at full price for their system. This time around, they are apparently adding extra content but they're locking it behind a sold-out trinket.
Yup and people are defending it. Its fucking disgusting.
It doesn't even need defending, since those were among the best selling games on the system. Nintendo is just being smart and realizing that Zelda fans want remasters enough to pay full price for them, and they're taking advantage of that fact. I doubt the Sony remasters have enough demand on them to charge full price, but you can bet that Sony WOULD charge full price for them if that was the case.
I just don't get it. I really don't. Why are Nintendrones so cucked? I mean if it was EA pulling this shit they would be shitting themselves in anger, but when Master Nintendo does it they just bend over and accept it. I don't think even Sonnygers would excuse this.
>>324028554 because there is nothing more pathetic and pitiful as a Nintendrone. Their lives are so shit and meaningless that Nintendo is literally the only dim light in their otherwise bland and useless existence and they cling to that aka Nintendo HARD. Also somewhat of a Stockholm syndrome.
Not him, but I have tons of games I still haven't beat back from the wii mini exploits. Granted some of them are virtual console games, so /v/ probably won't count those, but there were some really great indie games I haven't had a chance to play much because of splatoon and xenoblade x taking up all of my free time
>>324024772 The amiibo costumes can all be gained through normal gameplay. The one amiibo-exclusive thing that Mario Maker does have is the giant mushroom that I'm pretty sure can only be used if you tap that special limited edition voxel mario amiibo.
>>324029153 Not them, but I have more games on PS4 than Wii U. The game I've played the most on Wii U by far is Mario Maker... I don't really see how people could end up with a backlog unless they're playing multiplats on Wii U.
>>324029454 Making sure the game was family friendly was a part of it. In fact, perhaps the most important part. They wanted to make sure parents could buy any Nintendo game without concern if it was appropriate for their child. In a way this is part of the reason why Mortal Kombat and Night Trap caused so much controversy, because Nintendo had previously established that all games are made for children.
Here's a developer account of what getting through the Seal of Quality check was like, everything was about censorship: http://www.crockford.com/wrrrld/maniac.html
Prime games take a long time to make. You can't just shit them out every year and expect them to continually impress people. If Retro had gone to make Prime 4 they wouldn't have had time to make the new DKC games which were MUCH more needed than another Prime game.
The breaking point for me was the launch of the Wii U back in 2012.
Ever since then I've been front and center watching the spoils of Neo-Nintendo from 2008 onwards culminate into what we have now.
I predicted 3D World, NoA's increasing incompetence and memeage, amiibos (Pokémon Rumble using figurines), Sticker Star and Awakening being shit, and the slow DLC and F2P integration.
People get the idea that I'm a shitposting sonygger, but I have legitimate qualms with Nintendo the way it is right now... Except to me they are no longer Nintendo. They are Neotendo now. It's a brave new world out there now.
The last Nintendo anything I own was a 3DS XL. It was given to me as a gift. I didn't go out to seek one. I have played nearly all 1st person IPs on the handheld through various means. The 3DS library is decidely mediocre.
I have a friend whom I pass by occasionally and Ive played on his Wii U. The only games Ive earnestly enjoyed were 2/3rds of Nintendo Land and Super Mario Maker. Everyone admits its just a $300 Tr4sh machine. So really from here on out its just nothing but Tr4sh.
I feel sorry for several people who bought it but the indignation comes from REAL Neotendrones who honestly defend the system and eat nothing but shit.
I stopped with Nintendo at the Wii/DS, that generation was awful. I bought a Wii U about a year ago thinking it would be good because of Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8 They were fun games, but the Wii U was still trash and didn't even get any other support for games like Monster Hunter 4. The Wii U games then started to focus on plastic toy games, so fuck it, I dont care about plastic toy shit I would've kept my Wii U if Twilight Princess HD was just a remake with a justifiable price and did not come with a plastic toy
there's been no breakingpoint for me. Nintendo, for all its flaws, is still vastly better than any of the other consoles and AAA devs. Their whole idea of how to do the videogames thing (innovation-drive) would save gaming if it was universally adopted.
I didn't buy my Wii U until around mid 2014 in prep for smash
I thought it was a fuck load better then Wii and almost on par with Gamecube but the lack of games coming in a consistent rate is a bit underwhelming waiting almost 6 months for one game is pretty damn long.
But all this amiibo shit is turning me off from Nintendo and their constant ass backwards thinking for their consoles and marketing is just getting annoying.
>>324029943 >>324029993 >spending his free time day in and day out to montor threads for "trouble makers" who hurt MUH FEELINGS AND NINTENDO'S HONOR HAHAHAH holy shit. If I were that pathetic faggot I would probably kill myself. Shit is beyond pathetic and bizarre.
>>324030512 The only two good Wii U games are Splatoon and Bayonetta 2. Too bad the Wii U and Nintendo in general are complete SHIT TIER. It's a god damn shame, really. Splatoon is like a tiny glimpse of what Nintendo once used to be and Bayo 2 is a third party exclusive not even made by them. I will just cherish my memories of the good old Nintendo before they turned into turbokike Neotendo who don't give a single fuck and will avoid the NX like the plague.
>>324032176 Except it's true. That's how the system works behind the curtains. Janitors are just pathetic lackeys of MODS who are already pathetic useless shits irl. But janitors are those scum of the earth hoodrats who snitch on people that disagree with them or have a different worldview, so they report those people until a MOD checks whether the report was legit or not. And that's the only thing they are allowed to do, except when they report you it gets up in the priority list, so MODS will see those reports first on the list.
As a Zelda fan, this Wolf Link amiibo hit me pretty hard.
But my breaking point with them relies on Zelda U now. If it turns out to be dog shit like SS or mediocre like any of the Zelda games we've been getting in the last 10 years, then I'm never buying another game or console from them again.
>>324022160 Man, I just wish things were as simple as they used to be. You buy the game and you get the full game. Why can't they just make amiibos normal figures that are just that and nothing else so people who do enjoy that stuff get it and the people who play their games aren't effected?
>>324022160 Nothing. I'm not loyal to any company, if I like their product I will buy it, if I don't then I won't. If one console is good this gen maybe next one next gen will be shit, I won't care I'll just get the best one.
I had just abandoned Nintendo after years of not using my Wii and buying games for my 3DS I never played.
I got a Wii-U because it looked fun and I had cash to burn, so I picked it up refurbed with Nintendo Land and I also grabbed Splatoon at the same time. Went splitsies with a buddy so that I actually ended up spending $100 on the system + games.
And then three days later, Nintendo announces they're doing a new console and the Wii-U is dead.
at that point I wasn't fully broken of Nintendo, but what really did it was the crazy scalping rumors. I didn't see any sign of this phenomenon in my area, and then I realized I could easily buy all this stuff people bitch about (like the gamecube adapters, which my best buy had stacks of when there was a shortage) and hawk it for extra. For some reason, that realization cheapened the whole thing, and made me feel like I had stepped into a world of obsessive worship-based consumerism I wanted no part of.
So, I want no part of future Nintendo purchases. I don't want to be associated with the type of person who would spend $200 on Splatoon Amiibo, and I feel cheated by Nintendo's decisions lately with regards to Amiibos and their shortage. (I haven't bought more than one - Pikachu - because I don't want to go on Tolkien-esque quest to unite the Amiibos and go broke doing so). The way they treat youtube is stupid, the console I adopted is being discontinued and at least with my computer, I can pretend I'm above and beyond console zealotry.
>>324022160 Mario 3D World being the only 3D Mario game on the Wii U. I was already fed up with the NSMB and 3D land was mediocre at best, to see that NSMB had fully cannibalized one of my favourite series was the last straw. That and Pikmin 3 being really short and not having a Piklopedia when they'd been working on it for at least 5 years.
>>324022160 Guys I need some help getting wifi to work. Due to nintendo being ridiculously retarded in the modern realm of public wifi; I'm stuck at a Uni that utilises WPA2-Enterprise encryption which the 3DS can't handle since it requires more than just a password. I'm trying to use a virtual router; which my phone has already connected to without fail; but the 3DS just seems to be unable to detect it; even when entered manually. I've tried this with two seperate types of virtual router now; and both times the 3ds is incapable of connection; do you guys have any experience with this?
I didn't have to reach breaking point with Nintendo, they've been shit for ages, but I was willing to put up with their flaws for the handful of games I enjoyed. But those games have either been ruined or have just disappeared.
>Microsoft and Sony remove significant amounts of content to release as digital dlc No one on /v/ complains. >Nintendo doesn't touch the content in TP but adds in a small optional dungeon for the HD release and makes it so you need the amiibo to use it /v/ makes threads for months complaining about it.
Don't you guys realise physical dlc is way better than digital dlc. When you're finished with the piece of physical dlc you can sell it, you can't do that with digital dlc. Also, physical dlc gives you more bang for your buck since you get a figure and not just a bunch of 1s and 0s.
>>324042612 >I don't think they showed off a single interesting game Pretty much exactly my issue. Wii U is maybe getting one more E3 conference before NX comes out, and the second to last batch of new games was almost all duds.
>>324042702 Except it's never ever ever ever easy to get the amiibo you want. Either Nintendo never ships enough or sperglords buy out all the stock so they can scalp. Amiibos would be fine if they were constantly being restocked and it was easy to go out and buy literally any amiibo you want.
>>324043412 >There's literally nothing wrong with amiibo. Except for everything that's wrong with it. >DLC for a dozen of games for just 10 bucks. IF YOU CAN FUCKING FIND IT. IF YOU PRE-ORDER ON THE DAY WHEN THEY GO UP FOR SALE.
Does anyone remember that bullshit when the New 3ds first came out?
I went to gamestop for the midnight release and there was a huge crowd of people waiting outside. We were all talking with each other and having a good time, getting hyped up about Monster Hunter 4, and then midnight hits. One of the employees comes out and tells us that Nintendo only sent them 2 systems. TWO. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME NINTENDO?!
It took them 3 weeks to get another shipment, it was complete bullshit and I don't see anybody talking about it
>>324044964 I particularly loved how Capcom refused to give the okay for a midnight launch of MH4U even though Nintendo was doing midnight events from Majora and N3DS.
My experience at midnight was insane though. I wait in line for three hours and asked the staff at EB multiple times if there would be extra N3DS hardware for people without pre-orders. They said yes. So I waited in line. Then they started a "Platinum" line for people with Platinum EB Edge cards. Worrying the special lineup was the only way I'd get one of the non-pre-ordered consoles, I bought a Platinum Card for $15. When midnight finally came, they had absolutely no extra consoles. Luckily however, I was very high up in the lineup, and so there was 200 people waiting behind me. I stood there angry and stubbornly until they refunded the fee I paid for my Edge Card. Turns out they refunded me, but never deactivated my card. I still use it for discounts.
>>324046507 I personally have never had a genuine issue with amiibos, but I'd REALLY like to see a game that supports all of them. A la Lego Dimensions or Disney Infinity.
I think with Nintendo's game design sensibilities, they can put together an amiibo-centric video game that would put all other toybox titles out on the market to shame.
I mean, they've already tapped into the adult market to a certain degree with Smash support, all they'd need to release is a game with enough depth to garnish the praise of those fans, and they'd have a goldmine on their hands.
Currently, I only own three Amiibos and have no intention to buy more(outside of Cloud); but if Nintendo announced a fully-fledged quality title that required amiibos to play, I would feel -very- inclined to buy more of them.
The only way A toybox-esque game with amiibos would really work is that if it was like Mario Maker and you could win the ability to use characters by just playing. Sadly that already diminishes the point of having the Amiibo in the first place.
There is no way to come out as fair with the Skylanders/Disney Infinity/Lego dimensions strategy.
I admire the way they utilize the toys-to-life concept, I admit, but I cannot just turn away at the fact that they have tons of unlockables that SHOULD be part of the game being blocked away because "You need to buy the toy first". Skylanders and Lego Dimensions are the biggest offenders of this: "Oh, you see a path to the right that could have easily be part of the level to not make it linear? Too bad, you need an specific element figure to cross the literal wall!"; "Look at all these worlds and collectibles that in previous LEGO games were rewarded to you by collecting stubs and beating levels and getting characters? Nope! You need figures that have the corresponding abilities to reach collectibles now."
DI is slightly more passable because of the "create your levels" part, but still having access to one developer-made campaing plus being stuck with one character unless you pay for more figures seems really frustrating.
>>324047897 Fucking this. Lego dimensions is the one that hurts me the most.
Used to play all Lego games with my little cousin and it was always fun getting a character or unlocking it later in the game, then return to a stage and use his abilities to find more stuff. In Dimensions what was once a staple of Lego games became basically a physical manifestation of On-Disc DLC.
what the fuck anon? i like the bright colorful designs. Something vidya doesn't have much of a lot of the time. Thankfully I am seeing less and less of the brown drab n' gloom we've seen even in darker games.
>Zelda needs to be all dark n gloom >Uses shitty quality images for the Wii U side.
>Implying DK Dong Freeze doesn't have some of the most interesting levels and full of life environments in platforms in this past few years.
>Yoshi's Woolly World >Using shit quality images to pose as if his argument is right when the textures and colors look fucking great on HD
>Using Mari's Brawl model as a sign of deevolution, even that Mario never had those textures beyond Smash (Melee Mario looks more detailed as Sunshine Mario and it came years before, so your argument goes to shit.)
>Kirby looks the fucking same, but is still used as an argument.
If you're gonna cherry pick your argument falls flat. The only ones I can really give you the right on are Mario and Mario Party.
>>324023750 >See this >Obviously bait to get underagedb& to unwittingly use racial terms when describing N64 colors with their black friends >Check wikipedia for the real list of names >These are all canon wtf
>>324048070 >>324047897 I dunno. I'm being naive, I know, but if Nintendo could somehow put together a toybox game that felt like a complete and total game, and had amiibo support do enough that it felt like it was worth buying characters that you liked, but didn't make it so that SO MUCH of the game felt like on-disc DLC; I think we'd have something really cool on our hands.
It's all about balance at the end of the day, but if I'm being honest, I wouldn't mind paying a little above what the value should be if Nintendo could put together are really quality toybox experience.
>>324022160 >Smash 4 Not Duck Hunt in general, but the game was just so far from what I wanted it to be. I feel like this installation has less love poured into it than any other one and some of the decisions such as releasing a 3DS partner game or magnet hands + ledge trump just push me over.
It's worth mentioning the lack of Wii U games, the initial amiibo crisis, and that stupid smash data glitch that erased my friend's entire save data all the way back to wii stuff.
>Amiibo Scarcity It's been fixed, and only has about 6 figures that need reprints >N3DS is what it should have been Sure, but we are talking about a pretty old console now >N3DS skipping NA Nope, we had a HHD one and have a upcoming pokemon one
