What's the "scariest" mimic you've ever encountered in vidya?
this is the scariest mimic i never encountered
King Mimics in Dark Cloud scared me as a kid just because of the way they jump and roar at you when you open them.
Overall though, I'd probably go with OP and give it to Grimrock. They look pretty similar to the Dark Souls mimics, but they don't have the goofy body and they feel more dangerous since you can just trivialize the Dark Souls ones forever by smacking every chest before you open it.
Kills you instantly if I remember correctly.
DaS mimics are deadlier than grimrock's, sure, but in grimrock, the fact that you have to peer your head into them in order to find out if it's a mimic or not is sheer terror.
that's fucking awesome
By the way, did the DaS2 devs just not know that you could break free from the mimic in DaS by smashing the shoulder buttons? It's so dumb that it's just an instakill without giving you a chance
They just do lots of damage. If you have high phys def you can survive. You can also mash L1/R1 to reduce damage from enemy grab moves. It actually completely negates all damage from Nito's and Centipede Demon's grab attacks.
The one in Dark Souls.
Because Dark Souls invented the idea of Mimics.
No mimics existed before Dark Souls. And no Mimics can ever be as good as the one in Dark Souls.
Dark Souls is the end all be all of gaming. Whatever existed in Dark Souls was something that it invented. Action RPGs, for example, didn't exist before Dark Souls. Difficult games also didn't exist before Dark Souls.
I think the Grimrock ones are more dangerous to be honest. They're some of the tougher enemies in the game, you frequently encounter them in tight spaces where they're difficult to kite around, and unlike the Dark Souls mimics there's no real easy way to deal with them.
In Dark Souls you might die to the one in Sen's once when you don't know it's coming (assuming you're not warned by bloodstains/messages) but after that you'll probably start hitting every chest you come across, and if you do that you can kill most mimics before they get to do much.
RE2 Police Station Basement
RE2 The Second Malformation of G
When I was a kid, both of these tracks terrified me. The basement was a lurking, ambient fear, even though there were only dogs and maybe a licker or two. The second Birkin fight was when shit got real, that music was awe inspiring and frightening the first time around.
>They're some of the tougher enemies in the game
Not really, they're easy to kite and start to become trivial pretty quickly after you inevitably start encountering them
>you frequently encounter them in tight spaces where they're difficult to kite around
Well in that case you just had shitty luck, because the majority of mimics are random in each playthrough
>there's no real easy way to deal with them.
Just box them in with the forcefield spell like any other enemy if you're too inept to deal with them
Assuming bonfire mimics are pre-lit to indicate the deception that would be cool. Especially if it was just a one-time encounter that makes you paranoid for the rest of the game.
But THIS is just evil.
That save point on in Final Fantasy. I think it was 10 or 12
well that one doesn't look friendly but they should make it look qt and sexy to fool people
like, literally a semen demon mimic giving you this look and then eating you with its sharkteeth vagina
>tfw mabinogi had a cute mimic pet you could hide inside in
It was 12. I distinctly remember limping through that forest all kinds of fucked up and breathing a sigh of relief after finally finding a save crystal.
Then it killed me and I lost like an hour's progress. Fucking FF12.
Has there ever been a mimic that steals shit from you? Like when you open it up and reach in, it pick pockets you or something? I was thinking about it the other day and discussed it with my brother. Go ahead and use this idea for anything, a thief mimic would be cool and refreshing.
>KI:U chapter 24 where there are around 6 of them in a room
>aggro 2 of them on accident
on a 9.0 run
