>>324012982 No, it's exactly what was to be expected. Console DD:DA running at 60 fps @1080p and that's it. It adds nothing to the game, it's the same old experience at a solid resolution and smooth framerate. It's everything I ever wanted
>>324014590 scrap the sorc they get boring fast. Also you feel like it's unfair when you nuke everything from a distance with malstorm. But have to suffer a lot deaths. Roll mystic knight or magic archer after you're like 100. Their spells are way more fun to use than sorc. Also they're both very versatile damage dealers in BBI.
Thank god I didn't preorder it in the first place because boy this game is boring. Besides the combat system there's absolutely nothing interesting about it, and 90% of the side quests are mmo trash kill 10 of X shit.
Me. Aside from combat system the game has nothing. Exploration is boring, encounters are repetitive, all quests are fetch quests, classes are pretty unbalanced in terms of stat growth as to play a decent magick archer you need to play as a sorcerer for a good chunk of a game to get a non-shit magic growth.
It's also hilariously easy with a full party of pawns. To have a semblance of challenge i was forced to play with my main pawn only, and hard mode doesn't fix those problems but instead fucks up entire level progression.
A real damn shame. I can see a lot of good ideas but they lack polish and variety. Climbing your first cyclop of chimera is fun, doing this for 10th time is boring.
it was fun for like 5-10 hours and challenging because the balancing is so weird and enemys could actually fuck you up if you werent careful but now im just butchering through everything while bored and mashing the same buttons over and over again while my guy does le ebin martial arts which is supposed to be the awesome combat system i guess. >b-but there are so many skills to chose from which you can put on your THREE combat buttons woah yeah im just mashing the same buttons but my guys animations are different great combat would refund again world is fucking boring and actually fucking small. the graphics really need some color. there is no story. no rpg value. not a single interesting character.
>>324014859 Sorc is pretty fun with lighting whip and staff attack upgrades. Feels like you are a real sorcerer who levitates to some cliff, unleashes the hell on his enemies, levitates down and whips all the shit from remaining foes.
>>324015614 Dark Souls invented action adventures and western medieval settings? Sure thing buddy. You're either extremely young, or extremely stupid. Even though they're not mutually exclusive. DD is closer to MH than DS anyway.
It's hilarious that this game manages to be more repetitive than a fucking kingdoms of amalur. Very sad at the same time. I want to love it, but the world is just too bland and restrictive combat skill slots ruin the gameplay variety.
to be completely honest, the main reason im buying the pc port is because i REALLY want a sequel
the game has tons of flaws and rounds out to a solid 7.5 for me, but the potential in a game like this is fucking through the roof and i want to toss my dollars toward this port if good sales mean a possible sequel
>>324016182 If only it was a fucking bait, buddy. Even Amalur had better quests and actual questlines instead of endless generic escort and fetch missions. Hell, most regions had some sort of a grand quest going on for it. Even Amalur had more space for exploration without feeling so empty and boring. Even Amalur allowed more than 6 active skills. >>324016316 Amalur was a wasted potential: the game. Pretty much like DD. I don't really rag on it, i'm just surprised that DD has ALL the same problems Amalur had except for hilariously low level cap, and actually manages to be worse at them.
>bland world define bland. I found it a very beautiful world to explore. Fixed monster locations are something I love, means you can encounter shit way above your level if you wander the wrong direction. Also, night time is actually dark and usually has more mobs spawn, making it more dangerous.
>repetitive How? The goal of the game is to kill big monsters. That's what you do. If you think that's repetitive, than you found DaS repetitive as well. >restrictive combat slots You can easily swap out skills. It's for balancing reasons. The only class with really restricted slots is Warrior, but 6 slot warrior would easily be OP as fuck.
>>324014954 No they're not. They're not very interesting, but they're not what you describe. They're more along the lines of "my faggot friend ventured to a camp to the west and has not returned, can you go find him for me?"
He probably only played the first hour and only found the first notice board inside the starting village. Those quests ARE "kill X of those", but they're basically bonuses anyway. You kill those monsters anyway, but now you get a sack of gold and an item or some RC for it on top of it.
It's not like you have to do those quests to advance in levels are some shit, like in an MMO. They're 100% optional.
>>324017264 never said that homeboy, but in a game that is moved forward by swinging a sword, the witcher 3 certaintly takes the fun out of it by having a sloppy combat system that cant decide whether it wants to be action or rpg and ends up feeling like a halfbaked mish mash of the two
>>324016692 >define bland Empty and lacking hand-placed details thanks to which there's no feeling that you're actually exploring the world.
A good example of an actually good game world is Gothic 2. Everything is placed by hand, exploration is heavily rewarded by unique weapons and stat-boosting items, certain items you can simply find can be a game changer.
DD has a very empty world filled with samey bandits and wolves.
>The goal of the game is to kill big monsters. That's what you do All good RPGs have a way to break you from repetitive monster killing. Good quests, lots of dialogues with NPCs. It's fine for an ARPG with mostly linear structure to be focused entirely on combat and monster killing. Not an openworld game.
>balancing It's not a balancing as you end up equipping all strongest skills. It just prevents you from using fun ones. Game is piss easy already. Let it at least be absolutely cuhrayzee.
>doing pretty fucking well on hard >level 35 assassin (warrior maxed already for that sweet STR augmentation) >the the quarry quest with the several ogres who 1 shot me when enraged and take like a million hits to kill
This is where I've stopped my hard playthrough and switched to normal, not even ashamed as that's a tedious way to handle difficulty. Otherwise waiting for the retail game to unlock, 5 hours to go.
>>324016951 the world is ridiculously empty and has almost nothing to explore. how to describe it as a beautiful world to explore is seriously beyond me. it's an ugly box with mob points you run into to do some fighting and here and there find a chest. you do that multiple times even at the same locations since the backtracking is so heavy and you run down the same bland road over and over again while mobs respawning. the amount of doing the same thing at the same places just for the sake of it without any real story progression or interesting value since there is no story and there is no rpg value makes it repetitive. its in the same way repetitive far cry 2 was. but if you disallow calling it repetitive just because "you do things in any videogames and you keep doing these things so its just same same" then fuck you buddy
I just finished the game, it was good but other than the boss fights it was boring as fuck. Traveling was annoying as fuck with all of the low level enemies blocking your every step and other than the post game and dlc the game was way too easy. The side quest were tedious as fuck and the reward usually never worth it so the best you can do is to accept all of them then just hope that you will accomplish them while dong thee main quests. I would say it worth a purchase it just for the bosssfights and it's a must play if you are a Berserk fan.
and its not shit because its easy, its shit because its not skill or execution heavy enough yet happens all in real time. its like this shitty illusion that you are the one doing all of this cool stuff yet if you're the appropriate level for an encounter, you can simply roll around and balerina flip between enemies with your sword gliding through them with no sense of weight until everyone drops
>>324013180 I'll let you in on my secret to naming characters that is 100% unique doughnut steal. it's a simple two part process
what real world ethnicity does your character look like? if it's a game with fantasy races then go with their closest real world parallels based off of inspiration/stereotypes/folklore/voice actor accent
what keyword(s) describe the play style you'll be going for? could be magic, sorcerer or wise to describe a standard wizard. or crusader, holy, protector for a crusader/paladin type. you get the idea
take those to google translate. pull up a thesaurus if you have to. or check out one of those sites that gives the meaning for names and then shows the equivalent in other languages - wiktionary is typically good at that
basically fuck around with some descriptive words in languages that kind of match your character
I sometimes have more fun doing that than actually playing the game I came up with the name for
>>324017524 >Empty and lacking hand-placed details thanks to which there's no feeling that you're actually exploring the world. >chests, items, looting spots and secret herbs literally EVERYWHERE in secret locations
Wew lad, first point, and you're already blatantly lying.
>Not an openworld game. Because? Any arguments? No? You just said it doesn't fit, not the reasoning why, and you're still wrong anyways.
> It just prevents you from using fun ones. LMAO, speak for yourself retard, nothing is preventing anyone from using Vortex Arrow and Grand Scension with Magick Archer. And the combo works great.
Damn son, please stop posting, it's painfully obvious you don't know what you're talking about, but it isn't obvious enough to make people think it's bait. You just sound dumb.
>>324018004 I heard playing as a loli negatively affects a lot of things. Such as being knocked over by gusts of wind and other weak attacks, and having your lantern extinguished when walking through streams because you're too short. Is that true? I mean it makes sense, but I'm still a bit disappointed that I'll have to play with a handicap if I want to be the little girl.
>>324017845 >chests, items, looting spots All of which are MMO-tier in terms of content and partially random. Not in any way comparable to Gothic 2 which lacks respawns and actually has hand-placed items. >Because Because the game positions itself as an actual RPG. If it was a tighter ARPG experience with smaller but more detailed world where all encounters are hand-placed and unique, then heavy lean on combat would be fine. But DD positions itself as an openworld rpg while lacking most of things that make openworld RPGs good. Fighting samey respawning wolves is not really engaging when you do it for hundred of times.
i'm so glad consolefags beta tested this for us so we could run it at maximum fps on PC. feels fucking great to be a PC user and not have to result to making bait posts in a thread full of people enjoying themselves to feel good about myself because of the fact that i once again lost to the master race. loving the game btw, can't wait for the release and joined the steam group!
>>324018145 do you? post 100 levels have lower stat returns. The difference between a sorc that goes MA or MK at 100 (in magick attack) is 200. Not that big of a deal when as soon as you get to BBI you'll be able to get a staff with over 1000 magic attack (unforged/rarified)
>>324018472 >All of which are MMO-tier in terms of content and partially random. You can keep calling it "MMO-tier" all you want, it's not going to be true anytime soon. Also, I'm glad that Gothic 2 has hand placed items, DD's itemization is not "bad" because "it's not like Gothic 2"
>Because the game positions itself as an actual RPG. Does it now? Source? >If it was a tighter ARPG experience with smaller but more detailed world where all encounters are hand-placed and unique, then heavy lean on combat would be fine. But DD positions itself as an openworld rpg while lacking most of things that make openworld RPGs good. >I have a very strict definition of what games genres are and if they do not follow my aribitrary criteria, they're bland and boring That almost sounds believable.
>Fighting samey respawning wolves is not really engaging when you do it for hundred of times. Thank god you don't have to.
It shows that you started playing the game with an idea in your mind of something else and no one ever promised (or maybe you read it online idk) and then got inevitably disappointed when it wasn't that, and started comparing it with Gothic 2, for no other reason that you like that game better.
Then, instead of re-learning how to play a new game with a similar genre, you shit on it because it's not exactly like another one you already played
>>324018710 Cry me a bigger river faggot, if you're going to throw a tantrum because I used words you don't like, then do everyone a favor and don't reply to me. I'm not going to change the way I post because some random faggot got upset.
Yeah me, I can't believe I was stupid enough to fall for the meme again, people just hype up former console exclusives like mad and then it's just complete shit. The same happened with dark souls, all these console kiddies praising it like it's the second coming and then it just turns out to be ultra obtuse garbage.
>>324018782 >DD's itemization is not "bad" because "it's not like Gothic 2" Gothic 2 is just an example of a game with good itemization. Games with random chest content are never as good. It takes away all the feeling of exploration and reward when instead of a good staff you can find a fucking healing potion at the end of hard dungeon. >Thank god you don't have to. Sure, shame that except for killing random mobs the game has nothing going on for it. >re-learning how to play There's nothing to learn. It's just a very generic experience.
>>324019297 Next few days are going to be very entertaining. It takes more than 2 hours to get into it so they won't be able to refund it when they understand that they are playing in something that has similar problems as Amalur and DAI but manages to actually make them worse.
poor pc fats who played the beginning and thought it was fun are in for such a harsh surprise when they realize the entire game is back tracking over the same tiny strip of land fighting the same enemies in the same places using the same abilities to achieve the same mmo quests. this game is buyers remorse and wasted potential, more so then anything youve ever experienced. when i first started playing i nearly came during some of the fights due to how intense they seemed plus with the excellent sound track but you would be surprised how fast it gets old when you realize youve worn out everything the game has to offer after a few hours of playing. youl want to kill yourself when you know the wolves are going to spawn there because youve back tracked there 200 times but your pawns keep telling you wolves hunt in packs a minimum of 30 times per fight, and you know youl have to rinse and repeat a hundred times more
>this terrible thread full of shitposting I'm not really surprised, every time an anticipated game is very close to release this happens, it's like people have been saving up energy to shitpost at full force just when it counts. It also might be related to timezones.
>>324019918 You can make anything sound bad if you simplify it enough you jaded retard. >"Lol all fps games are just fast point and clicks!" >"RTS TOO!" >"This platformer is just about jumping all the time, it's shit!"
>>324019850 can you blame them millennials have been raised in a age of media that almost exclusively features rude/condescending protagonists with drug habits who's only redeeming feature is there intelligence. Since they can't emulate the last one without effort it's only natural they'd go for the first.
>>324019901 Bloodborne is an actual ARPG with smaller world full of little neat details with shortcuts and teleporting. Plus you're not limited by skill slots, you can use two incredibly detailed weapons at the same time plus hunter tools and other things.
DD is an openworld ARPG where enemy respawn constantly but ferrystones are sold in limited quantities. It makes backtracking hilariously boring and exploration too repetitive.
>>324020106 It wasn't really loved outside of /vg/ circlejerk community to begin with. I've just always dismissed claims that it's an even shittier kingdom of amalur thinking that it's just a shitposting. Turned out it's not.
>>324019943 People falseflagging and trying to piss each other off at the same time. It just happens and there's no real reason, making discussion impossible for anything remotely high profile is just natural here.
>>324020106 Tribalism, and millennials happened. Combine them and you have a recipe for shitposting. You have a community that's fan bases constantly are pitted against each. Then you take a generation that has no meaningful life experience that has had to find meaning in their existence through consumer media. It's why they keep comparing it to Alamur. Because a) just about no one's played it and b) it's not something they'd ever like. So they can bullshit knowing nothing about either game and no one will call them on it because it's too vague to pin down. While shielding whatever their fanbase from actual criticism. I
>>324020786 Yes, it was made to be that way to prevent people from renting their own pawns and just funnelling riftbux into their characters, which obviously is obsolete now because of trainers and CE, but the Japs kept it in anyway.
>>324017264 I agree that combat isn't the only kind of gameplay, but in its simplicity it's actually TW3's better part. At least the movement controls work pretty well in combat, while out of combat Geralt feels like a tank, making it very hard to really get immersed as the spell breaks every time you accidentally move past a corpse you were trying to loot. The equipment and levelling systems are absolute shit, like you're playing a singleplayer MMO, and because they're so restrictive with the items you can equip it's literally impossible for any loot you find to be anything cool. In games like Morrowind you can actually find amazing magical heirlooms that enable you to do new things, which ends up being a memorable experience despite being unbalanced. In TW3 you never find anything but a sword with a few numbers a bit higher, and if they're too much higher you can't even equip it until hours later. It kills any fun that could be had while exploring. I struggle to think of a single gameplay mechanic in TW3 that doesn't actively get in the way of my fun.
>>324020106 >a legit critique of a game is met with shitposting and memes I don't even want to say that DD doesn't have redeeming qualities. But it's so incredibly flawed and annoying in some aspects i can't enjoy it, it triggers my Amalur PTSD.
>>324021148 Not an accurate depiction. It runs tolerably for the most part, but some classes have skills that absolutely TANK the fps down to less than 15, and some areas in the game do the same thing. Generally it runs at less than 30 fps during normal gameplay.
>>324021148 If I remember correctly, the menu takes a little while to load, making changing your equipment and using items a chore. It's not PS3 Bayonetta levels of terrible, but if you have a laptop you can probably just play the PC version instead.
I really loved this game when it came out (original release and Dark Arisen update). Then Dragon Age: Inquisition came out and blew this game out of the water, doing nearly everything this game does but better. It's not content-rich as compared to DA:I and it's not immersive or difficuly enough compared to Dark Souls, so it's just kinda generic middle of the road.
4chan has always been plagued by people trying to get a rise out of others, some of them are fucking good at it too, they've had years of practice afterall.
The more something is loved and liked, the easier it is to upset people over it, what I think has been the main factor behind such /v/ epic shitstorms as Dragon Age 2, TORTANIC and Mass Effect 3. Also how Dark Souls community got so fucked up after PC release and why some people have shown concerns about DD maybe going the same way. If it does, it's almost always started by trolls, and from their the shitball that gets rolling is a bit more complicated.
If there's one thing Dragon's Dogma does well is the sense of adventure. Travelling north across the woods at night, fending off the attacks of the undeads only to be ambushed by a group of bandits and their trained cyclopes is amazing. 'tis weak to fire
>>324022479 >Bayonetta was playable This. Besides that level where it's raining. Fuck that, it's 10fps city. >>324022487 Hire pawns that know about that enemy, you can check their knowledge in the rift. They will tell you how to fight the monster.
>>324022265 Not everything is trolling, there are people genuinely mad that others enjoy something they dont
Also dark souls community is terrible because of people hating that it went on PC, fact, before when it was console exclusive they called it best game of all time, now they call it worse than DeS, even though DeS is inferior in just about any way and any non biased person that played it can tell you that, of course disregarding personal preference, but bosses are weaker, less gear, way more straightforward world design and so on
>>324022698 there's 7 states a weapon and armor for that matter can take >no start >1 star (money only) >2 star >3 star >dragon forged (red) >rarified 1 (silver) >rarified 2. (gold) dragon forging come's from as the name implies killing a dragon with it equipped. It's not guaranteed though except with Grigori. Each item is rolled separately upon killing it. The higher the item is upgraded as has a positive impact in it's chances of getting Dragon Forged. Rarification takes place in BBI and is similar to normal upgrades except I don't think you can skip stages like you can in the main game.
>>324015274 >climbing your first cyclop of chimera is fun, doing this for the 10th time is not You realize you're suppose to be able to kill these monsters in 5 seconds or less towards the end without climbing them right?
>>324023624 >>324023634 Is assassin more fun than ranger? How much more does the magic archer add to the archer playstyle? I played mystic knight for a bit as well as the fighter/warrior, and a tiny bit of strider on a different character but that's it.
>>324023873 >Is assassin more fun than ranger? yes and no. Assassin has some hyper armor skills like perfect kill that's just great for being able to toe to toe with things way above your level. But it's archery skills leave something to be desired. They don't have cloud burst volly but they do have five-fold flurry and some other status related skills. All in all they're a weaker archer than strider or ranger. But a much more versatile melee fighter. A lot of players use a rustbow+five fold on assasins for the topor effect on larger monsters making them intensely easy for the party. They also excel at climbing since they have access to both hundred kisses and dire gouge depending on their main weapon. And that's where the fun of assassin really comes from is all the skills you can have equipped and change between by switching your main hand weapon.
>>324024630 play ranger for like 10 levels (the stamina growth is fucking great and a boon to any class with high stamina consumption). A lot of their main damaging skills take time to charge up. Which can be infuriating if you really want to be in there with your pawns or don't like waiting for openings. After ten level of it you'll probably have an idea how much you like it.
>>324025215 Game launches in an hour and a half, people can't try transferring saves until then
Of course, your save gets associated with a dummy in the crack and your account in the real version so it will probably see it as someone else's save and not load it (an effort to prevent people from uploading other's pawns)
In all likelihood you cannot transfer saves from the crack to the legit version and we've known that for a week
>>324024985 Is it worth staying as a strider for long? Or should I just switch to ranger asap, then maybe to assassin if it doesn't click so much? I'm aware about how the growth works so am I fucked if I don't level any mage sorcerer then later decide to play magic archer?
>>324025096 >daggers Here's what I did as a sorc, and it should work with your double hop too. >shoot the fucker to piss him off >run around like a headless chicken until he starts his charge(you'll know) >hop off the edge >float around the pillar and land back up on the walkway >ogre fell to his death giving chase
>>324025519 just switch to assassin and play it like it's strider without helmsplitter or downpour. Or ranger whatever. Do it while levels come easy. That being said it will be harder to find a good longbow than it will be to find a good short bow early on.
>>324025017 But it's so much fun. The game has a ton of depth to it regarding the different vocations, the pawn system, and different strategies to take down monsters. Having said that it does have its faults, and it's far from perfect, but it does things other games don´t.
A diamond in the rough would be the best to describe it. You just gotta make the effort and dig a little deeper.
>>324022265 >The more something is loved and liked, the easier it is to upset people over it, what I think has been the main factor behind such /v/ epic shitstorms as Dragon Age 2, TORTANIC and Mass Effect 3 >loved and liked >all bioware games lol >Also how Dark Souls community got so fucked up after PC release
anyone tried running it on an i3? steam minimum requirements lists i5 660. I have a 4160 and I've been able to play some games that list an i5 for the minimum before. just want to be sure if possible before buying
>>324025550 >People asking for advice >Talking about differing abilities and classes >Talking about modding >Talking about save transferring >Talking about/showing off pawns >Talking about controls Yet you chose to focus on the shitposting
>>324025949 Nope. Stats mean jack shit. It's all about the equipment. You might want augments from different classes though, so you're encouraged to switch around every so often. Don't listen to minmax faggots.
>>324025519 >am I fucked if I don't level any mage sorcerer then later decide to play magic archer? no
>Is it worth staying as a strider for long? Or should I just switch to ranger asap, then maybe to assassin if it doesn't click so much? Strider: Mobile, quick climbing, dagger jump attack, bow for skirmishing as a sidearm, can move at regular speed with bow drawn Assassin: Parry moves to counterattack (both dagger and sword), sword for massive damage while climbing. Using sword makes you lose out on dodgeroll and double jump, using the massive damage skill while climbing allows you only 2 skills on the ground. Bow as a sidearm for skirmishing, can move at regular speed with bow drawn. Ranger: Massive damage from range with bow, insanely good aiming with M/KB, great range, relatively stationary with bow, slower movement speed with bow drawn Dagger as a sidearm.
>>324026130 I generally don't care about minmaxing but if it really fucks me then it's a problem. So I just level up the classes I like even if they're completely different and switch between them when I feel like it?
>>324026494 >So I just level up the classes I like even if they're completely different and switch between them when I feel like it? make sure whenever you switch to buy uptodate equipment or you will struggle
>>324030872 What exactly does full reset do? I have trouble understanding why assassin would need it since most attacks are over fast enough. That sounds like it would make a lot of more sense for a warrior though.
