play 3 or 4. either one really. You can play 2 if you want but they're pretty different in tone/setting. Play 1 if you're curious, I guess. I personally like DQ but most people don't'.
Start with BoF II, then III, IV, and leave I for last (BoF I is mediocre).
People hate on DQ because its pretty different from the other four games, but it isn't a bad game at all.
Did someone say "Momo rape"?
Also posting BoF6 Ryu and Nina
Ryu is your older brother apparently and looks ok
I think that 3rd is the most overrated BoF game.
Lots of filler (especially that entire Rhapala arc which was absolutely pointless, second part of a game basically re-uses all locations again), weak plot outside of the very first arc, uninteresting cast of heroes with the exception of Rei and Garr.
The only thing it has going on for it is dragon transformation system which makes an already piss easy game even easier.
4 is a highest point of series with amazing and surprisingly brutal plot. Yuna surviving the entire events and going unpunished was a very ballsy move and made the game truly amazing, eastern empire was one of the most horrifying depictions of militaristic Japan i've seen in games.
>tfw BoF5 has great official art but they decided that the best thing to do for the english release is to put the wonky looking 3D models on the cover
2 GBA, 4 and 5 art was done by the same artist, familia.
I know that. I'm just saying the US BoF5 box is just
DQ has a scifi setting instead of fantasy like the others
but the main reason people hate it is because of the dragon system
every time you use your dragon form, your dragon counter goes up, and if it reaches 100% you get a game over
which will happen unless you use a guide, the game is made the be started over and over again
you keep some of your shit when you start a new game and get new cutscenes and shit
I just finished BOF3
>dem torpedo tits
I got a boner when i met her.
>playing this game when I was 12
>fight the first boss
>use the dragon form and hold the dragon breath until I hit 100% and get a game over
>wow this game is gay
>never play it again
>fights by using her insides as whip
>that PCB in the background
What did they mean by that?
Dragon form is hilariously overpowered and not really needed, if you use it as an emergency "oh shit" button you will have more than enough d-counter to last entire game.
There are few encounters designed to push you to the limits though, like that ambush with robots and sword using chick.
So we can all agree that Nina3 is the most useless party member in the entire franchise right?
Something about him reminds me of the MC from Soul Chain.
Still waiting for an animated adaption to happen.
Wow, that's bad. At least EU got this one.
This thread needs some music
Japan got the best one though. Capcom USA has never been good with box art.
Well until the european boxes started to get really stale by doing this with everything
>hey we got these new Megaman games coming out how should we make the box art look?
>just shovelware my shit up
I wish DQ Ryu looked more like his artwork. His 3D model looks so weak.
it's just jarring when the 3D models clash so much with the official art. Besides, he can still look like a tough guy even if his rank is low, that number doesn't transform your appearance...
I think Yoshikawa's only weakness is when he draws this particular serious face.
3 and 5 are still two of my all time favorite jrpgs.
the 3D models are the case with everyone. Bosch is 1/64 and looks just as sickly, if not moreso because he's blonde and most sickly kids are blonde.
in those shots, it does look better, but the artwork in >>324014897 looks just as frail and weak as the model does
he isn't exactly very muscular or strong-looking in >>324012147 either
It gets better in the last dungeon, but only if you got the shamans. The most fun I had was playing with shaman and party combos, then storming the dungeon with shaman Katt/Lin, shaman Sten and shaman Jean/Tapeta, annihilating everything in my path with their skills put together. You don't know what shaman Sten, Katt and Jean are capable of when used in combo? Poor soul.
I like BoF4 Nina, it's just that BoF3 Nina is BUILT FOR SEX.
BoF3 Ryu is still the best though. Clean yet distinct design that looks great and unique. Also he does a fireball animation when casting spells.
Why does everyone shit on 5 anyways? I'm interested in trying it now that I got PS2 emulation rolling and I really liked BoF3 and fucking loved 4. I know the game does this thing about you restarting it or something? Beyond that I'm unsure.
he also looks incredibly thin in this piece of art, too
the model looks a little wonky, but it did capture the frailty the artwork conveys quite nicely
now if only he looked a little more determined and less as though he's about to run away in fear
>it's just that BoF3 Nina is BUILT FOR SEX.
I think that Nina3 is more for being a waifu, along with Nina4. Now Nina2 on the other hand is very much built for sex.
Next-gen BoF on PC/Plebsole when?
I don't acknowledge the mobile abomination called BoF6
I love all of them equally, I think. Each game has its own charms and is worth a playthrough.
I put off playing BoF4 for so many years, but I absolutely loved it.
Still haven't gotten around to playing Dragon Quarter just yet, but maybe once I get some free time later this weekend I'll start on it!
>I never tried anything else since i didn't like 2 and though the others must be just as boring.
they're not as interesting but they're all good
Why is BoF so comfy, /v/?
>recruit-able only for the last portion of the game
Why is this allowed? Not to mention that she's also the best fusion in terms of gameplay.
So uh whose the best
Though because they censored the fact that he was a drunk, he just seemed like a stuttering tard in english.
I tried playing 2 recently and gave up rather quickly. It's like the game placed some required events before me without providing any motivation or reason to care. Supposedly I'm off to prove my dog buddy innocent, but but nothing that happend was connected to it. I went forward for no reason, did some stuff for no reason and a few people joined me for no reason. Gave up shortly after the boss in the well.
>the first time you played fou-lu doing over 2k dmg each hit
>using shiny blade the first time after scias joined your party
>ryu transforming into kaiser to finish that robotboss the 3rd time
>the comfy isles in the north of the western continent, fishing and chilling with your party
BoF4 is an easy 10/10. Played the shit out of it as a child on ps1 and later on pc. It has so much great content
lel never noticed he was drunk
>Mami becoming a living nuke aimed at her beloved
>Elina being continuously tortured and turned into a monster whose mangled body is barely contained in a giant building
>that SS officer murdering an entire village full of children
>western government being a bunch of weak pussies betraying members of their own alliance
>extreme poverty in eastern empire
>that beast who kills itself while clearing a path for Fou-lu
>general sacrificing his own life to beg Fou-lu's forgiveness
>Yuna avoiding any punishment at all
Such a comfy game.
>Such a comfy game.
Yes. Very comfy.
>tfw you'll never be an eldritch horror
All I want is for Capcom to return to the amazing character design and art days. Why is it so difficult? Did 3D really killed good character design?
>mfw realization that Barubary literally rapes you.
>generic sad looking animu girl
get fucking original already, japan
man, rand will always be my favorite beefcake type character in any game. simple farm boy who wants to just chill type of character that plays like a paladin with tanky stats and heals, but punches like mike tyson. i think garr comes close, but honestly i cant think of any kind of character i would take over rand.
pick one, he has a slow start for sure but he can also hit everything on the screen for 9999 damage for free every turn without much effort.
if the steal magic spell wasnt such shit she would be a bit more useful. but with only 3 party members you want more reliable damage.
Hey what if the rest of the game was simply Ryu's vision of how his journey might have continued, had he not died then and there?
But that's just a theory, a game theory!
>for free every turn
By free you mean mammoths wiping your entire team and you before you take an action. Let alone he charges for 1 turn.
Shaman Katt with shaman Sten are better. Katt and Sten are faster that all the enemies in the last dungeon but one. Attack formation, Katt charges first since she's faster then Sten, Sten uses his special ability and replaces current random encounter with another. Katt keeps her charge from previous battle and acts first in the next, in attack formation most likely eliminating a single target. Most enemies come in packs of 2, so your casualties in form of HP are reduced in comparison to when you use Jean and watch yourself being beaten for 2 turns. Buffs like attack up are also kept when Sten generates a new battle, which means Katt can securely -1 tough targets like breaking-through-the-floor demons or dragons before their turn. All you do is letting Katt cast attack up (or any buff) from MedusaSH/Ares Shield on herself or anybody and Sten use Switch. Repeat as needed. This way you can get your entire party buffed before desired encounter (like vs. Goo Kings or Night Riders) without getting hit. TigerSD/Vigor Sword from minigame which heals for 100 HP is very useful here and I am pretty sure you don't need me to explain why.
Shaman Jean also keeps his charge between Sten's switches, but as he's slow, he isn't that useful. He also misses a lot vs. Night Riders. Speed buff may help him, but it works only in GBA.
>think about playing BOF3 again
>remember that desert
>remember that apogee at the center of the graph bullshit
>remember that pirate part where you help that beta score a 10
I had my fun with the game and I beat it once, but I'm never going back sorry.
Am I the only one who doesn't have any problem with the desert especially now that I know the correct way through it? I find it relaxing and a good place to level up your less used characters.
I however hate the Rhapala arch and the Black Ship part as they feel like unnecessary filler.
No! No I do not!
You fuckers destroyed my family! The next time I saw Rei and Teepo I had to fight them and it was all your fault! Fuck you! Fuck Mikba! And fuck Myria too!
1 was the first rpg I ever played and I loved it even though I didn't finish it until years later. I remember not figuring out what to do around the time Nina left.
I think it could be remade and do well. They would have lots of creative room to fiddle with the story and add elements. Being able to see a fully 3D version of Nina's kingdom, the stone robot, the desert tomb, the underwater kingdom, etc. would be neat.
It has some very charming music typical of Capcom back then that could be rearranged.
and it would be great if they could fit the Chun Li cameo in again in Karn's home town.
