Can we have a Skies of Arcadia thread? Been playing it lately, game is still great, but that encounter rate is rough.
Still my favorite RPG ever.
No other game gave me this much sense of adventure and discovery.
Also OP I hope you're not playing the DC version.
Can we all agree Fujimoto draws the best fan-art for this game?
even though they obsess over the Vyse x Glider pairing.
My favorite game ever, still hope Sega will ressurect the licence and make a sequel. This game also indirectly make me a One Piece fan
It's been a glorious vacation i'll say that. Back to work on Sunday, but i'm having a good time for now. It's been a punch in the gut in terms of nostalgia
Same here on the One Piece thing actually, I still need to go back and catch up, stopped reading shortly after the time skip, a bit after they teamed up with Law I think on that Fire and Ice island.
I have the Gamecube version.
I'm actually not a huge fan of this game. I think I played it until I got that prince guy in my party, and then I quit.
The encounter rate was too high and I didn't think the battle system was all that great. The battles were very repetitive.
I did like the exploration, hidden discoveries, and characters.
>My favorite game ever, still hope Sega will ressurect the licence and make a sequel.
You're thinking of the same Sega who has been butchering Sony for the past years.
Do you really want this to happen to SOA?
It's generic shit, only reason people like is because they were young when they played it or something.
Nobody has been able to give me a single reason in years about what is good about the game.
In b4 something about how I didn't play it, I spent 20 hours on it before dropping it.
The whole game was censored in many areas.
It's fine for the most part though.
Nostalgia is a factor with me, I won't deny that, but it's also a time and place thing. When it came out it had very high production values, but it was also a time when RPG's were trying to be a little more self serious, so it kinda stood out in that regard as a cheery game. It also has a satisfying sense of discovery in my opinion and none of the main characters strike me as hatable. I totally get someone not liking it these days, it has aged and the encounter rate is nuts. The storyline on the whole is also a bit basic, but I think the little moments with the characters are what salvage that.
This is still the only game where I feel like I am exploring the entire world and beyond rather than just a collection of small places. The sense of progression from Vyse, Aika and Fina looking at the sunset on Outlook Island at the beginning of the game, to sailing through familiar areas, then places they haven't been to yet, then places no-one's ever been to yet, then up to fucking space is incredible.
Also, I love the borderline autistic amount of descriptions for random stuff you can examine while exploring on foot and of different messages NPCs have, your ship crew in particular says different things after every single story event.
>that comfy feeling being on your ship in the dark rift
>meeting the chinks for the first time
Holy fuck yes, this is also one of the thing I love about this game.
EVERY. SINGLE. ITEM. have their own fucking flavor text, even in the overworld you could go anywhere and interact with any objects and they all have their own flavor text.
This blew my mind so hard back then.
>MFW VYSE IS VOICED BY THE CURRENT VOICE ACTOR IN Valkyria Chronicles is currently SONIC.
I would welcome it.
>HOOO WEEE WE'RE IN TROUBLE NOW HAHA~!
>TAKE IT PUNK!
>A....A ika...... *dies*
I was honestly impressed that they got Christopher Sulliven to reprise his role again in SARST.
Ramirez was EDGY and you know it.
Possibly the most EMOEST silver hair I ever met in a vidya game
Bit strange but when I first played the game I was reading through the first book of the Death Gate Cycle (which is about sky islands too) and it was such a synergistic experience.
First4Figure's Vyse figure. He huge! I paid an absurd amount of money to get the exclusive edition (which was way more expensive and just came with an extra arm that was holding one of his scimitars).
It's so ridiculously edgy compared to the rest of the game it just works.
>"Repent your sins through death. Sword of the eclipse."
>sword freezes, ice shatters and he cries a single tear of blood (only blood present in the western DC release and Legends)
>target falls through ice and gets impaled by a humongous stalagmite
I played it when I was a kid and my jaw dropped.
One Piece / SOA
>Both have 17 years old child heart who live for adventure
>both have greedy red head girl
>Marine / Valua Empire
>Ancient Weapon / Giga
>Alabasta / Maramba
>Skypiea / Ixa'taka
>Sanji / Enrique (both are from royal family blond hair)
>in both, moons have important role (not yet in OP... not yet)
>both will have a ridiculously big war at the end
>Fighting Rupee and Barta
>I'll take Rupee out first, less health and he's the magic user
>mfw Berserk Rupee
Here is a shitty photo of the Vyse statue next to a Link amiibo for size comparison.
(Don't judge the quality of Vyse based on this photo from my garbage phone.)
>examine box of spicy food in the Nasrad port while playing as Vyse, says that Aika wouldn't like it
>examine it in the ten minutes you play as Aika, she confirms she doesn't like it
>examine random painting of Pirate's Isle on the ground in the hangar on Crescent Island
>Vyse states that his dad founded his base when he was 19 and takes pride in having beaten him by two years
I've become jellyness incarnate.
I wonder if I could still buy it somewhere... lemme check.
I REALLY would like these VAs to be in the next game. If not the originals to make it back.Spin off or not. Skies is a hot game with likable characters and I am sure they can continue the plot with new characters along with the old.
Usually instead of Alicia Rush I use Aika instead. Does that make me a bad guy?
I never played this game but from what I understand, the Scout are so fast that they can capture the base enemy in a single turn or something?
Still haven't played it but I must to someday since it's from that kind of jrpg I'm pretty sure that I will like (like Grandia 1 since I have heard that SoA has similar, great sense of adventure).
Exibet A, Alicia is OP.
Now take her Buffs and give it to Aika but without the Regen and pretty much shes the same thing. Cept you have to use a ORDER buff for Defense from Crossfire.
You should really play it sometime.
I wish it was Aika's face and not Alicia's.
Replace Alicia with Aika and we be A-OK
Wished games would have more Orange Hair Tomboy women in them.
I wish Vyse had a Stubble or Goatee in 2 or something. He's pretty much the most "FAMOUS PIRATE" in the skies.
> comfy feeling.
Nigga that rift still gives me the creeps. I grab everything necessary in there and then never return.
I think I feel that way because all the lore about it is that it destroys ships that get caught in its winds. What happens if your ship runs into the walls?
Flying in Skies of Arcadia always had me a bit uneasy. Like on a regular boat you can at least swim. On an air ship if you fall or there's a problem with the ship you're fucking done.
Your ship does get slightly weaker in defense while in the rift, Battling the monster in there is really a test of your tactic prowess and planning. SHould you heal or focus on attack? Should you evade or should you buff up your defense/Attacks parimeters?
What I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW. Is why isn't there more Airship Battles sims that is alot like Skies of Vyse? I mean theres Guns of Icarus. But I figure there would be more to it then that.
Oh yea the rift itself is creepy, especially when you find out Polly's husband has been trapped there for years. I mean when you're hanging around the inside of the ship and talking to your crew.
I loved flying, dat freedom and all that. The dark rift, 15 years later, is still my biggest nope in videogames.
You are right though, falling from that height into the abyss where Fina's ship is would be a bad way to die.
The debuff isn't permanent is it?
The ship combat was 10/10, more games should have it.
Yeah. On my first play thorough he was the last passenger I needed to 100%. When I found be was in the rift I thought "yeah, he can stay there."
dat black moonstone teaser though
I mean, I don't think a sequel is necessary. A remaster for PC maybe with the soundtrack of the Dreamcast version and the content of the Gamecube version, but that's about it. I'm fine with more cameos though, was very happy to use Vyse in All Stars Racing Transformed.
>Getting that one missable captain's stripe from the deloco fight
Really? I don't remember getting stripes from that, but then again that was years ago. Was the giant looper airship fight even in the gamecube version? All I remember was it being DLC along with the tuna cutass/lolipop boomerang on the dreamcast.
Which is more devastating?
KEFKA"S TRIPLE TRIAD LAZER RAZE
or RAINS OF DESTRUCTION?
I believe nothing could top the RAINS OF DESTRUCTION.
Whens its the powers of the
Soltis and ZELOSactivated.
If you equip the White Map item on Vyse, the encounter rate for monsters will goes down.
Conversely, if you equip the Black Map item then your encounter rate will go up.
The Ship Battles in this game give me warm fuzzy feelings and dread while playing it. Its surreal. Its almost like I am fighting the real thing.
I love it senpai.
Random encounter rates of this game will haunt me in my nightmares.
I think I have a coupon for Walmart Online to like give it 25% off any item over $100.....Let me look for it.
Was a Mystery Shopper for Wal-mart ya'see
Its a one time use and I will only give this code to someone else who is planning on buying this statue.
(I already have it so I don't want to buy another.)
That feel when you're already enjoying the shit out of a JRPG and then you get an upgradeable home base out of nowhere.
What other JRPG give you the option to be the BOSS of your own BASE where you can cater to EVERY SINGLE ASPECT IN THE PLACE by your command?
DESU this is WAY better then FF7 or hell any of the other Final Fantasy games for that matter.
The World building is tight and exploration is just as well amazing.
>but that encounter rate is rough.
I do not understand this complaint. The encounter rate is fine. A lot of the encounters are avoidable anyway, when you hear that Dreamcast GD-drive start spinning and you can interact with something on the screen and the encounter goes away.
>It's a ship battle
Just the English version, or was the Japanese Gamecube version also censored? I know sometimes they base later versions of games on English versions and don't bother to change anything but language settings.
Alright, a Skies thread. Haven't seen one of these on /v/ in a while.
I might as well dump some 1080p pictures and gifs I have a collection of. Recently bought the limited Edition Eternal Arcadia for £80.
Unbox thread soon.
It's not for everyone I guess. I played it four years ago. It was truly an amazing experience. This anon puts it very well. >>323963339. For a 16 year old game, it makes you feel like you're going on this huge adventure with friends. One minute you're in your home town, the next you're bartering with some Amazons on their forest island, then before you know it you're exploring an icy ruin, the game feels massive and like there is always something to do. The characters play each other off well, the music is brilliant. The only complaint I give it are the encounter rate, and slow as shit ship battles.
Always good to see people reposting some of my screenshots.
I should really replay this, create some webm's.
Here, have the webm for that scene.
No I am not alright. I need my SoA fix.
>Belle will never luster your bombshell
Dreamcast emulation isn't bad. I completed Skies of Arcadia on the DC easily, and was able to play it in 1080p widescreen for the most part. (Pic related) Oh, you've stolen my pic for this post >>323976524. Let me use another.
NullDC is surprisingly easy to emulate, the only downsides are the skies themselves, which you'll traverse a lot but it's not like it's impossible to navigate. NullDC is also a good option if you're finding running Dolphin to be difficult. I get 30fps playing Skies in Dolphin with everything set to native, whereas I can get 60+ fps in Skies on NullDC, at 1080p widescreen.
If you can run Dolphin, go for it, but if not NullDC is always there.
tfw no Sega brawler with Vyse
tfw Sega makes said brawler and Vyse is missing
Rare instance of in-game being bigger than promo.
Just imagine it man.
>Has a SSE like Brawl
>Starts out with Sonic trying to stop Eggman from stealing the Master Emerald
too slowand Eggman escapes on his massive airship
>Suddenly out of nowhere he is getting attacked
>"What is going on?" he shouts
IT'S AIR PIRATES SIR
>Proceed to fight Badnicks as Vyse and Aika, storming the ship to steal the Master Emerald from Eggman
>Eventually team up with Sanic and co similar to how the SSE did it.
It could truly be something.
If you need help setting it up. I'd be glad to help.
Just give me a shout if you need some tips on how to get it in stunning 1080p pseudo widescreen
The worst part is that Sega still trows Vyse around every now and then so I can never stop dreaming about the impossible, I'm still salty that Vyse didn't make the cut for project X zone, those games look like shit but I would have bought it in a heatbeat for Vyse.
Could anyone who's playing SOA right now take a good screenshoot of Fina in her front, side and back view please?
I've been wanting to commission something with her for a while but there's a lack of good Fina reference out there and my toaster can't play SOA...
So, how'd you guys come across Skies of Arcadia in the first place?
I found it in a charity shop for £10 back in 2012. Such a great find. Didn't even know I had a masterpiece in my hands until I finished it a year later. I found Legends for £22 months later.
I wasn't even meant to go into that charity shop. My mother told me that Zone of the Enders was in there for £2, and I should get it. I followed her advice, and saw Skies. Had to buy it when I saw it was for the Dreamcast.
I know how you feel man. I just want something Skies related to occur soon. I'd love a remake, sequel, port, prequel. I don't care. ANYTHING would be good.
If I can also see that Fina picture as well...
Here, have one for free.
I ended up grabbing it and Evolution Worlds for some GCN RPGs. Sadly both were lost during a move back then as well.
I bought it from GS for about $15 back in 2008 Good snag too. I have a Gamecube and my files are still intact.
Its a shame I can't transfer my PERFECT Vyse the Legend file over to the PC version. At the very least I wouldn;t mind playing it.
IMAGINE THE STEAM BACKGROUNDS AND CARDS FOR THIS GAME LIKE VALKYRIA CHRONICLES.
I don't remember. I played the shit out of it on Dreamcast but I don't recall at all why I might have been interested. It was probably an EGM review that sold me on it, and I was already a fan of FF7 and 9. Didn't care much for FF8.
When it was ported to the Gamecube with additional content, I shit my pants and bought it day one. It's easily one of the GCN's best games.
I will never sell Skies of Arcaidia Legends/Original. No matter if someone offered a MILLION for it.
I just can't. There is literally only 90,000 copies of this game ever released.
Some people are lucky I guess. 2012 was my lucky year, since I also found God Hand at the end of the year, introduced myself to the MGS series and loves it, passed all my exams I needed to pass and spent the whole of summer having fun playing vidya with friends.
Funnily enough, 2013 was one of the most unluckiest years of my life. Go figure.
Hey no problem.
Just make sure the commission can be seen by some other fans as well.
That's a shame. I still wonder where some of my games have gone. I remember I found a game I lost for 8 years in my box of Lego's I had since childhood. Weird that.
I miss those guys. They used to sell old games for decent prices.
If Skies got a release on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One. I'd buy all three in a heartbeat, and platinum it on the PS4. I'd craft a badge on steam and trade to make sure I had all the cards in my inventory as well.
Is Enrique actually hated? I saw someone say that the other day but I never see anyone hate him.
Royal goodie goodie two shoes gets hitched to a literall 10 out of 10 Jap goddess.
I rather have Gilder in my party for his skills though.
>So, how'd you guys come across Skies of Arcadia in the first place?
My friends found the GC version back in 2005 in a video game shop.
We played it together, or watched him play, his 4 brother, our friend neighbor and me.
Everydays after school we were going to either of our house and play the game, we didn't want to miss anything we just fucking loved the game.
After a while I bought the game for myself and played it alone.
I randomly dug up my old
THU diskaround Christmas. Need to clean it up and see if it still works.
>Royal goodie goodie two shoes gets hitched to a literall 10 out of 10 Jap goddess.
I like the goodie two shoes characters in a lot of fiction for some reason. It's also good to have a "not all high class Valua citizens are bad" character.
Is it better to play alone or with friends?
Also who wouldn't love to see this game get crushed in Game Done Quick?
Same, mine was pretty much an impulse buy. I still wanted more DC games at the time. So I would've bought any DC game, but still.
Nice, it took me a whole year to finish the game. Mostly due to my DC resetting itself every 20 minutes. Had to sort it out.
You gave it back, right.
I wish I got it back in the day, but I guess it'd be in pretty horrible condition if not broken at this point.
IIRC it sold somewhere around 108,000 copies. I don't know if this was, or wasn't counting Worldwide sales. But it might just be American.
Sounds like fun. I made a friend from our love of Skies of Arcadia. It was an incredibly experience since we spent the next 30 minutes just talking about it together since we loved it so much. Made uni a hell of a lot more enjoyable.
I might greentext the story if the thread dies.
Hope you have fun.
Good to know.
Well on the second run I was a bit more older so I catch up on some things I had missed out back then but yeah, it was definitively a lot more fun all of us together, discussing about the story, fighting with each other on which tactics we should use in the flying boat fight etc...
The only other good time we had like this was when we were playing Tales of Symphonia with 4 controllers.
From a gameplay perspective he's probably the best 4th in my opinion. Justice Shield is ridiculously good. As a character I think Drachma (and Gilder to a degree) is more interesting but I still like Enrique.
Can we have a Skies of Arcadia General?
Hell make it Skies of Arcadia/Valkyria Chronicle General to make it more active? I think its worth a shot to try a post our memories and (Drawing requests) there. What do you guys think?
It'd take 12 hours. Last I checked that was the fastest speedrun for the game.
I wish I bought more games for the Dreamcast when it was in it's prime. The only game I still have is Virtua Fighter 3tb. And I still don't know how it remained in a playable condition after all these years.
It's a shame it basically went under when I started to have more money to buy things in that store with. I used to just browse several games, and not buy anything. It would've been great to buy some more games from there.
Concept art is weird.
I think it'd just devolve to me talking to myself in the thread.
You sure it's the disc, and not the console you're playing on. My DC did that once or twice, before I had to fix it.
That's a /vg/ thing, I mean, no one is going to stop you from trying it, but that crap devolves into hugbox shit that barely has anything to do with the games at a point unless it's a multiplayer or current game.
It's amazing how well that stuff holds up actually. It still looks really good and the emoting has a lot to do with that.
It's why a lot of these screenshots are just emotes of Aika. Plus she's a cute.
You could try it on your Wii if you own one, or try to triple clean the disc to see if it'll work.
What I find incredible, and honestly don't know if i've seen it replicated to this day, is they made the spunky tomboy redhead hothead female, and didn't make her a bitch in any way or overtly obnoxious. She was prone to letting her emotions take over, but never to an annoying degree. That was masterfully done, and I still don't necessarily know how they knew how to approach that.
like the game setting a lot, ship combat is fun af, but I think doing delta shield/shield of justice every fucking round gets monotonous
also this guy
>mfw my name is Ian
>I don't write comics
The series handles its characters well in spite of being on the surface very cliche. Aika isnt really an obnoxious tsundere, Fina isnt a super submissive moe blob healer or slut, and Vyse isnt your mopey emo protag.
>Vyse isnt your mopey emo protag
This is one of the reasons Vyse is perhaps my favourite game character. When something goes wrong he doesn't complain or try to find an excuse, he just decides to fix it.
Quite possibly the best NPC's in a JRPG.
Skies of Arcadia is the best game I've ever played. It's not even a nostalgia opinion, because I first played it only like 3 years ago and have replayed it every year.
The first time I played it I got fucking rekt constantly.Every single ground boss was hard as shit. The first lion boss, the robot boss in that island, the bile monster in the sewer, the executioner, the turtle, those floating heads in that island where Vyse and the others are separated, they ALL took like 20 tries to beat. I got my shit pushed in so hard by this game.
Gilder was the best companion, Drachma was cool too. Too bad the faggy prince was the "best" one because of his shield move.
Post your REACTION faces when you used the "BLUE ROGUES ATTACK AND PROPHECY"
+ points if its Skies of Arcadia.
Also does anyone want me to dump the OST to Skies? I got a MEGA if anyone wants a RIP.
I would love the soundtrack.
Then play it man, pirate it, buy it, do what it takes.
I guess the writers knew what they were doing with their characters. Here, have a gif.
Thanks for the picture.
The only difficult parts of the game for me was the first ship battle, because I was low on healing supplies and would always die and had to win the fight out of luck. The second was the last ship battle. I don't know why but it was just fucking difficult. Surprisingly the Final boss fight was easy.
Buy it or emulate it. I'll tell you how to set up NullDC here and now if you'd like.
>mfw in Rixis right now, while posting in this thread, no sound but my snoring cat on the bed and the game, it's snowing and night time out and I don't have to work until Sunday
This is the best feeling.
Nice one anon. Sounds comfy af.
I have a test in 12 hours, and I haven't revised for it. I couldn't sleep and found this thread while trying to make myself tired browsing /v/. I hope I enough on my coursework to pass the whole course without having to get any answers right in the exam....
The entire soundtrack was god tier.
I'm currently listening to the whole thing as I browse this thread.
It truly did feel like an RPG where both female leads had no problem with each other liking the main character and would glady have a threesome with him.
You're one lucky guy, Vyse.
I'm on it.
The Great Silvite TempleAnon.>>323982039
In fandoms I see a lot of OT3 things like that, but I honestly feel like, with how they're portrayed in the game, how they all interact with each other that really Vyse, Aika and Fina are the only trio that could work as a polyamory group. And even if they don't, the three of them will clearly be together forever, not a one of them would be willing to walk away from the other two, for any reason.
>Pinta's Quest on the VMU
>Horribly high encounter rate
>Lower encounter rate
Bought it at GameStop back in 2006 I think, $16 used. I'd look for the receipt but I put all my old stuff in the basement and don't feel my rummaging.
However, I didn't actually get around to beating it until like 2010 or 2011, the first time I played it I was disgusted by the slow battle speed and muddled audio quality, I tried again later on when I was clearing out my GC collection and I played it right after Paper Mario TTYD , which is another game I held off on for dumb reasons. Two of the best RPGs I've ever played on ANY system.
Music quality in DreamCast is better + Pinta's Minigame for the VMD.
But if you want more of an adventure. Legends is your best quality despite the whole encounter rate being bad. There is more content in it. New Hunts, New Weapons new Explorations.
>MFW Ramirez Razed my Base for the first time and I had to surrender.
>tfw Skies of Arcadia developer cried when hearing the ASRT track for the Skies stage
SEGA's got a lotta guys in the back with passion, but fuck if they aren't lettin them shine.
There are so many IPs that Sega is just holding onto. And even if those IPs never get a new game, they should at least be on steam. Not only is Skies not on there, but there's also the likes of JSRF, Monkey Ball, Shenmue
There was that last burning moment of glory for Sega that still lasted a little bit even after the Dreamcast bit it. JRSF and Monkey Ball are among the greats and yes, should be on steam. I still bust out my Super Monkey Ball 2 on Gamecube from time to time, and I want them to rerelease Chu Chu Rocket as well.
oh fuck you /v/
I lost this and all my gamecube games during a breaking last year...
God I loved this game.
>tfw they brought back Vyse's voice actor just to do that
You're not that one anon who was going to crossplay Vyse were you? Because if you were, I wanted to add you on Steam so we could talk Skies. Still if not, can I add you on Steam so I can see that dank cosplay?
What character, by the by? I could post of them specifically.
Are you me, anon? I was the same way when I was in high school, I passed up on so many great games of that era because I was only interested in Halo and the like, pretty much if it wasn't a shooter I didn't even look. Dropped out of school and went into a depression phase for several years, started playing ROMs and ISOs of old vidya and Skies was one of those games that still affect to this day in a positive way.
From being a NEET 7 years ago to an EMT and now a firefighter, this must be how Vyse felt getting the delphinus.
I lost a lot of my stuff from a theft 6 years ago, Skies of Arcadia Legends was a casualty.
The very next day I ordered it, as well as replacement copies for Viewtiful Joe, Paper Mario Thousand Year Door, and both Super Monkey Ball games. Still have yet to replace the Baten Kaitos games.
I would like more pals to actually talk to about games I like. Hell once I get my gamecube hooked up and a program to actually record it via a program or something. I pull a marathon of Playing the game beginning to end. Attempting to 100% it again.
I lost chibi robo which I loved playing with my little brother. When he was really little I'd play the intro over and over for him because he loved when the dad yelled, "HOT DIGGETY DOG"
The ones responsible probably deleted your savefiles ON PURPOSE
So it seems I can record some
crappywebm's for Skies.
Anyone want anything in particular? I'm at the end game tho.
>Sky pirates is absolute favourite thing in fiction
>No one ever fucking tackles it
Laputa: Castle in the Sky and SoA so far are the only ones I really like
Naw man, I still have my memory cards, system and controllers. That was all plugged in, they just took my GC, Saturn, and DC games off my shelf. And my roomates TV and systems.
Can I get the endgame specials in webm form? Also, the ones from Ramirez if possible?
Dark Cloud 2 and Dragon Quest VIII came damn close, but didn't beat it. I still need to play Grandia one of these days, I hear it's also got an amazing sense of adventure.
Fuck man, I can only imagine some of the rare shit in that Saturn collection.
Same developers so I think it was just a fun little shout out they did. The fun was lost on the people who did that anime adaption though.
Something I regret not recording was galcian's super move where he leaps into the sky and pummels through dozens of battleships before he pummels you.
holy shit all those reactions and then this guy
> you'll never travel the world of Arcadia for the first time again
> you'll never gather a crew from around the world with your two best friends for the first time again
> you'll never save the planet with your best friends and crew for the first time again
> you'll never sail off into the setting sun with your best friends for the first time again.
I don't have any reaction images to express the extreme sadness I'm feeling.
I was desperately dreaming that I'd have a full group including that character since I have a friend who would fit the build but I don't know enough Skies fans (or have enough friends that would bankroll me making costumes for them).
Nope, I have plans to cosplay Aika and make my partner Vyse. I've had them on my list for years but I keep putting them off because I want to figure out how to make the weapons translucent, non-fragile and light up +color changing, which has proved difficult. I don't want to give out any contact info on /v/ but I'll repost this photo of mine >>323964839 on instagram tagged with #skiesofarcadia if you want to go through the trouble of tracking me down.
I think it's how it's presented and paced. When you go to a new area, you're there for quite some time and get to feel to location for a long time. When you finally leave the desert town and go to the forest town. It feels like you've actually travelled to another part of the world. The time it took to get there and the encounters add to the adventure of going from one place to another. You were exploring a whole world here, it had to have different continents.
Fuggg, I don't think I'm gonna try and complete Skies one more time. It'd take too long. I'll definitely replay this game and record webm's in the future, for possible upload on some site, but for now I don't think I'll be able to.
Sure, let me just try and find the guy.
Hmm, I might try this one if I don't have to deal with a million fights along the way.
When you do get to the end-game you need to record Ramirez's attacks, especially in his final form where he stabs the fuck out of you before blasting you with his mouth laser.
HD remake when?
If you're able to, add me on Steam.
Hell, anyone can I don't mind.
I have 200+ friends due to the fact I played fuck tons of L4D2 throughout 2013-15 and added a lot of friends from the servers I used to play on so that I would know who was and wasn't on so I could jump on or avoid them if I didn't want to play with them at the same time they did. I've yet to remove them.
This game scares the everloving fuck out of me. I have a fear of heights to the point where living on any floor but the first or second floor of any building makes me think the building will crumble and make me fall to my death.
The entire world in Arcadia is just... Floating. Anything happens to knock your continent out of the sky and you'll fall.
DFW! you going to PAX South? This thread is making me hypothetically consider trying to rush out a Skies costume for the event.
Sorry anon, I mostly make stuff for myself and those close to me so I'd rather not post 'em on /v/.
Here you are guys. A good clean RIP from the DC version of SoA.
Enjoy this beautiful OST.
>Imagining an HD Remake with expanded battle system and modern character models while staying true to the story and characters.
Here's a question for you guys. Would you be OK with a remake that kept the same sense of adventure and had the same ship combat but was an arpg in regular fights? If not how would you do a remake?
>that point of the game where your reputation plummets and shopkeepers start trashtalking you for no reason
The dark rift or whatever it's called was fucking great, in any other game that would be an annoying travelling part where you simply want to be done with it and move on but in SoA I really felt the atmosphere the game was going for and everything, even getting lost, felt exciting.
>Imposter grills look 100 times better than main cast grills
A remake/sequel needs to expand on the base building, turn it into something like peace walker/mgs5 where you can send your crew out on missions to plunder ships and treasure.
>Still go back to SoA because no one else has fucking stepped up and made a better pirate JRPG or pirate game in general
STILL REIGNING CHAMPION
This was the moment I realized that the game was not going to be a cakewalk the whole way through.
>DC version encounter rate
>Playing the DC version
>realize that every time your about to get into a battle the dreamcast audibly revs up.
>Pause the game until the revving stops
>never get into another random battle
It was stupid to be able to beat the encounters that way, holy shit.
It will, I tried to kill Rupee first when I first fought them.
Big fucking mistake.
This is where i'd post the Berserk Rupee webm if I had it. that caught me completely off guard.
Delta Shield and focusing on Barta made the second go much easier.
They only show up in Legends, the original didn't have them.
>Building crumbling down and falling to your death
But the building falling on top of you and making you a sandwich is perfectly fine? I rather not be in a building that isn't sound PERIOD!
It was absolutely plundering. I'm also pretty sure Vyse's dad put a bullet in the back of the head of a soldier. It only turned into a world spanning quest when the stakes were revealed and Vyse took the chance to branch out from home.
My nightmares are fucking full of me on the top floor of a skyscraper that's about to fall apart and I have to get to the bottom in time somehow. If a house was about to fall apart then nigga I'd just leap out a window.
>yfw Vigoro has a lock and key over his chest and dick
Well then Vyse must be a shit pirate in the end, huh?
>Not just running to the roof and riding the skyscraper down THEN jumping off at the last second
In an ideal world we'd all be Dante in our dreams instead of fat, and in our underwear.
And he would have gotten away with it too, had he not put a fucking bike lock on his crotch
I am glad peeps got their RIP of the OST. Hope the quality is good on your end as it is with mine. Cheers.
If those that are new to this thread. Its a Skies Thread and I posted a MEGA for you all to rip.
No worries its clean and its not filled with Dolphin smut. I swear on me dead mum.
Did this motherfucker traumatize anyone else as a youngster?
This fuck and OoT's Deadhand could have been brothers.
>no near rape scene as Vigoro tries to pin Aika, then desperately fumble around pulling his necklace off as he tries to put his tiny key into the lock only to have it fall out of his hands and down some drain
But anon, I don't swing that way. I just get penis envy as I'm a 5'7 manlet with a 6 inch cock. Some women say it's 'great' but I wish I was packing an onix instead of a diglett.
If I do make them for PAX I won't fret about the weapons, I'd just make them later and instead make the flag as a prop so I'd at least have something to pose with.
Say hi if you see us!
Bleigock will always be hilarious to me. It's the Executioner right afterwards that's the scary one.
This and Grandia are two of my favorite JRPG's, if ONLY because you really feel a sense of wonder and discovery over EVERYTHING.
Also Aika is hot.
>he's stranded on an island
That part is one of my favourite bits in any game. Most games I try to hurry to get back to full power, but here I took it slowly and really enjoyed it.
for sure ill keep an eye out
Sucks that SEGA's left Skies in the dust pretty much. Does anyone know if Puyo x Tetris is any good by the way? I know the series does ok in Japan, but ive been meanin to see about that particular one.
that reminds me.
Once I was talking to one of my friends on the phone while I was playing SoAL and, during a fight while using the Delphinus, I heard "moonstone cannon, fire!" but it wasn't even my turn.
It turns out my brother sneaked down into the room I was playing in and watched me playing while listening on the phone, and just said that to fuck with me.
Those were good times
I still have to give Skies a lot of credit. It helped me make friends.
Might as well greentext the story since the thread's dying and
I want attention.
>Went to uni
>Really hated it, everyone in the dorm was a normie and I kept to myself
>Eventually started to consider changing uni's, since I really hated it here
>I had no friends and nothing to do
>Eventually see there is a vidya club at this uni
>Decide to go
>See three people bunched together, talking about MGSV
>I join them and discuss the game with them
>We eventually talk about other games,
>Ask one of them what his top five games are
>"Well, Skies of Arcadia has got to be my number one favourite"
>"NO FUCKING WAY" I shout in sheer joy I've met someone who shares my favourite game
>We start discussing the game for a couple of minutes
>I eventually meet all his friends, and we all become good friends over the next few months.
I stayed at their house in the 5th week as we went to a comic con. Great guys.
GC, more content, lower random encounter rate. Only issue is lower quality music.
GC for more content, better encounter rate but butchered soundtrack. DC for better sound, but a worse encounter rate. DC is far more easier to emulate than GC for the true 1080p experience.
Is there a way to use cheats on Dolphin? I may want to play Arcadia again but only if I can turn off the encounters and boost the XP/gold gain.
Eh, might as well dump some scans.
Aren't they generics steampunk goggles?
I don't even remember how I have this part of the story. So I dunno.
It's funny, I always tell myself I won't dump this every skies thread, but I always seem to.
I've lead several skies threads into bump limit before.
>You will never be alpha enough to wear a codpiece with a lock on it and carry the key around with you
Any kind of game would be amazing. Anything at all.
