Is it weird to download games you already have a physical copy of? Big games like Xenoblade or Bravely are too big to waste space on but tiny games like 3d Land or Triple Deluxe barely take up any space. :/

So I injected FBI into sysNAND H&S so that I could play custom GBA VC games. This also has the side effect of making H&S a blank app that softlocks the system if I try to run it without rxTools.
So would a factory reset of sysNAND brick the 3DS because of this?

got stuck on trying to install rxTools, black has a 16gb but freezes at the black and red screen, the red has a 32gb and freezes when I select rxTools.

I'm too much a chicken to update my custom firmware, so I can't play happy home designer.

Only Smash and Xenoblade require new firmware (Xeno requires 10.1, Smash requires 10.2 and will probably require 10.4).

It's advisable to do it now though. If you update to 10.3, everything's guaranteed to work. At that point, if any games come out requiring 10.3 you'll be fine. When 10.4 releases, there's a chance, though slim, that it could tank your emuNand. Of course you can fix this by recreating a new one and reinstalling everything, but it's much less hassle not to. If that were to happen you'd have to run SysUpdate to bring emuNand to 10.3 and hope someone's dumped it, which doesn't actually always work.

tl;Dr: update your emuNand to 10.3. Nothing bad happens and you might save yourself a headache.

DS games run in a completely separate mode on the 3DS - it runs a different set of hardware internally. The only way to play DS games through a hacked 3DS is either through a flash card (which will run with 100% compatibility) or through a DS emulator, which hasn't been created and if it had it'd probably run at 5fps.

It's not possible to hack the DS mode of 3DS without very specialized hardware that's not and likely never will be available.

I got some questions. Do I need to unlink nands? And what's the process of transferring everything over to a bigger card.

Actually I own over 30 3DS carts and a lot of 3DS eshop titles.
I have 3 3DS's. An original black one I bought on launch, a red XL, and an ambassadors n3DS.
If anything I probably buy at least 5x more games than the average consumer, and a lot of games I buy on launch still.

That doesn't mean I won't pirate shit though. You wouldn't believe how much of a relief it is to have all your games on one SD card. And I love undub and translated games.

Sega are doing a better job than them with game collections and bundles, and they don't even give half a shit.

You install the GBA games (Cia files of course) the exact same way you install the 3DS games and then they play with the native emulator. The only reason it's flawless is because its the built in emulator from Nintendo.

All those other emulators run between 25%-75% speed and compatibility, and work on them has stopped because we have access to the native emulator.

INSTALLING GBA GAMES

If you have linked nands, just install the GBA Cia via FBI and you're good to go (this is literally the only reason you would want linked nands, and its not a good reason).

If you have unlinked nands, you need to be able to install cias to sysNand. People say you need to install them to emuNand as well, but you don't only if you want to play on emuNand).

I'm not explaining the whole thing since there are guides on the backing and homebrew general, but basically:

It was what I tried before doing what I have now. Also, if it helps, The bottom screen scrolls. Didn't use a maze because there's so many to choose from and the typical green one doesn't fit wit the color-scheme. I remember the maze I tried was also a soccer one that had cones. Looked cool but didn't scale well to look right on the 3DS screen.

Yes you can play online. There's been no bans so far, and it's unlikely there will be, but we don't know with 100% certainty what kind of system Nintendo is running, so its possible.

Yes you can play locally. This will never be an issue.

If you have o3ds, you can download the Smash patches from the eshop and never have any issues, and will be able play friends locally or online. If you have a n3ds, you'll need to wait until you can safely update to 10.3 and get the patches then. Rei supposedly can update, but it's brand new so perform at your own risk.

If you're wanting a step by step tutorial on downgrading and installing games, go to the general and read the entire guide twice before doing ANYTHING.

There are something like 700 titles but a lot of them are ports, multiplatform or shovelware. Of those that are left, only a fraction would appeal to any singular person. Bravely Default might be a great game but if I don't care for RPGs then it may as well not exist, for example

What? You install RxTools after unlinking and updating and it plays any CIA no problem. I'm obviously skipping steps but you don't have to do anything special to run it region free.
