Didn't really like the game. I was originally going to write a wall of text about what irked me but I'll just break it down to greentext instead
>Max sounds like what some out-of-touch dude would think a teen sounds like, which makes her really fucking grating >time powers are really underdeveloped and basically become a quicksave replacement, barely any puzzles really utilize them >additionally the developers seem to have run out of ideas and decided to go all Butterfly Effect at the end of chapter 3 which just made me go meh >the whole time thing not being at least explained in some way >the teacher being the big bad was the first thing I thought and it actually turned out to be true, what the fuck >the entire fifth chapter, also what the fuck
I mean sure, chapter 3 and 4 were kinda okay, but that's about it. I don't really get why everyone is loving it. Unless everyone here wants to be the teenage murrican girl.
Do you like the butterfly effect? If yes, then yes. Just like butterfly effect, it's flawed and can be corny but if you liked the overall feeling and story of butterfly effect, then you'll probably like LiS. At least I did.
>>323942487 The music in this game was so good that I would stop progression in an area just to listen to the soundtrack. The game itself was interesting enough, I just didn't like the forced lesbian choice. Max gets so sentimental and emotional around Chloe for no apparent reason.
Ok Bias aside, anyone can tell the pro and con of the game? I kind of want to play a game for the plot right now and i really can't tell if this is the right game. Would i just cringe at the school setting or it's only a background for the story?
>>323947553 >I kind of want to play a game for the plot right now and i really can't tell if this is the right game. How many times do we have to say that the game revolves around plot? You can't randomly leave areas and go wherever you want, it's a modern visual novel.
>Would i just cringe at the school setting or it's only a background for the story? It starts off extremely bad, which is why some people dropped the game in episode one, but you quickly start going to other settings then back again several times.
>>323947553 Gameplay wise this game is a better version of telltale games.
>Would i just cringe at the school setting or it's only a background for the story? I hate any kind of media that has anything to do with teenagers and was very sceptical when I started this game. I've stopped watching tv shows because of this. But this game actually not that bad, I wasn't bothered at all.
>>323947174 Ep 5 was fantastic It was weirdness turned up to 11 All it needed was an over the top jrpg-like final boss battle and good sequel bait >standing near the cliff Chloe and Max are hugging watching the giant tornado >2 possibilities: 1 Kate is alive and she shows up at the cliff >2 Kate is dead and she flies down from the heavens >Kate blasts the tornado with holy light >tornado seemingly dissolves >reforms to create the form of Sako, God of Kaos and the Underworld >turns out Max somehow stole his time rewind power and he's been creating chaos and anomalies to find and kill her to take them back >Kate wants to destroy him, because there's only one true god, Max doesn't wanna die, and Chloe thinks she's in one of her Japanese animes >final boss theme kicks in >final boss battle starts >it's a mix of old school jrpg combat and qtes >stupidly absurd attacks like Kate using "wrath of the Almighty" which causes 1000 stars to come crashing down on Sako >battle ends with the girls winning >or if you lose you get the bad ending >happy ending if you win obviously >post credits scene shows the Underworld going into disarray and the dead coming back to Earth >Mark find Sako's remains, and stares at them >dark energy flows into him >stares at the camera and adjusts his hair and clothes >MAX, I WASN'T WITH YOU
>>323950971 At least it gives an explanation of sorts snd it's pretty straightforward and unexpected >Max got her powers from the devil >devil wants them back and is causing weird crap to happen >after you kill the devil you cause imbalance in the underworld >Life is Stranger set to be released in 2017 >it's about the world getting even more fucked up and Mark becoming the new devil >only Mark is fucking crazy because he was killed but in a different timeline and the collapse of the timelines and getting the devil's powers made him even more fucked up >he still wants to take pictures of Max
>>323951850 It'll be interesting to see what they say during the director's cut. That same doe has a figure in chloe's house, but it might be there as a result of the X-Men tomfoolery happening as well.
I didn't find it emotional. I liked pretty much every character except Chloe, who was written so poorly and unlikable that I think it was Dontnod's intent to kill the dumb bitch at the end. Story was pretty weak at the end, but overall I enjoyed the game. I thought the soundtrack was fucking fantastic and I actually really enjoyed the hipster atmosphere and art style
>>323950706 >Rather they went safe There was nothing safe about using an ending so predictable people were guessing it from episode one. That's just plain lazy. They even had several dropped plot points and cut lines that showed they had something else in mind. My guess is they ran out of time or money. Look up cut nathan lines, there's dialogue of him from the trailer of episode 4 where he talks about the storm, saying it's coming to kill them all >>323950698 The nightmare sequence was interesting, but they completely wasted an opportunity to have max talk to rachel. Instead they just had her talk to herself.
>>323950817 >>323951876 As bad as the ending was, this is even more retarded. They clearly were dropping big hints that max's powers were some sort of native american spirit shit, the burial grounds, the constant talk of spirit animals. All just got dropped out of nowhere though
>>323954692 That's exactly my point. They lead with that text, and then could have had her show up in the nightmare sequence. Instead it just ended up being a spoopy text that lead to nothing. Also they built her up for so fucking long just to have rachel be dead, nothing special about it
>>323954493 Gone Home has many positive things about it, at least on a walking simulator scale. If the ending wasn't so unsatisfying and the lesbo sister was only a subplot, it would've probably been better received. It's great how the "game" constantly teases supernatural elements without there really being anything, and the atmosphere in the house is amazing in general
>>323955895 Have you ignored all the posts in this thread saying the ending was awful? The plot was fantastic up until the ending. Episodes 1-4 were great, each ending had me hyped for the next episode. The ending was awful and predictable though. That doesn't ruin the previous episodes though
>>323956481 Don't tell me the plot was bad when you haven't played it. Some lines were silly, but it's pretty much how teenagers talk now >>323956947 >saving chloe from her fate causes a massive fucking storm a week later >save william >he lives for a fucking decade with no storm
Anyway it's pretty weird, but the best part of Chloe were actually the men involved with her. Mainly David, William and Frank. Or maybe it's not that weird since most of us can probably take their view rather easier than the view Chloe has.
I enjoyed the game. It has both strengths and weaknesses but I can still enjoy it despite that.
Admittedly, the ending was kind of lame. As many people point out, it really only boils down to the final choice. I still think there's a lot of good in the game though. The rewinding was cool because you could explore different dialogue trees and in some instances, uncover new dialogue options. To those who say things like "the dialogue is ultra cringey" think about all the stupid stuff you said back in high school for a minute or rather, when you first discovered 4chan.
>>323961074 >think about all the stupid stuff you said back in high school for a minute or rather, when you first discovered 4chan. No one talked that way. At best, you'd have these made up words meaning awesome and duuuude.
