It is in general really annoying when devs design bosses that force the player to be reactive instead of active. If you're wondering where QTE bosses came from, they evolved from things like armored bosses that only reveal the weak point after chasing you around for a bit.

fucking Metal Gear Rising did this shit. I played through the entire game without knowing I could parry. I beat the entire fucking game without parrying. I got fucking destroyed by Jetstream Sam over and over again.

People complain about block being hard, and I didn't even realize counter existed.
Resident Evil 4 was good in terms of making you thirsty for Ammo. Resident Evil 5 however is guilty of giving you the option of carrying every gun in existence in your backpack and giving you the option to hoard endless amounts of bullets.

Fuck any game that does this. No matter how easy they are to kill, no matter how hard they are to kill. Enemies that can tap you and run the fuck away with you having no chance to catch them, so you have to chase them and wait for the AI to fuck up and decide it wants to hit you again.

Enemies that run away constantly are garbage. If you are gonna add enemies into a game, make them actually want to kill the player and not pussyfoot around. And don't make them mindlessly run at the player nonstop either. Make your fucking game AI even average. Just average since that's all you can do nowadays.

I cannot stand enemies that are made SPECIFICALLY to hit and run though, it's bad game design.
>Archers have ranged attacks but piss-poor damage against almost everything and get killed by any magic damage while kiting bosses for 10 minutes

>Wizards have damaging spells with absurd cooldowns and mana costs, have to sit on their asses waiting to regen

Was about the same as FO3 or New Vegas really, and those first three aren't even a good thing to get pissed off about, I bet you can't even name one rational reason for why making combat based less on luck and adding random miniboss enemies that drop a good or valuable unique weapon makes a game any worse.
I don't mean to start shit, really, but I only got the game a few days ago and it seems like a lot of the complaints don't really make any sense.

FUCK. It's like they tried to make the most annoying boss. It combines:
>Long periods of complete invincibility
>Lengthy animations during which no one else can act
>No cast time on it's attacks so they always interrupt yours
>Attacks have a chance to instantly KO, with no way to mitigate the risk

>Use one of my 10 million healing items
>Healing is a gradual process instead of instant
>One hit kill animation starts just before my health gets out of the get fucked zone
>Still healing throughout the entire animation
>Still die
Any sort of unskippable segments that halt your progress really.
Borderlands is the worst in this regard
>Single-player game adds leaderboards
>Now has to constantly connect to access leaderboard server
>Gameplay interrupted should the connection be lost at any time

>you can even see unarmed weapons you have equipped on your hands
>boss has the ability to summon minions
>whenever it summons, it goes into a dormant, invulnerable state
>can't deal any damage to the boss until all minions are defeated
This isn't even particularly bad, it's just extremely annoying and pads out boss fights unnecessarily. It's even worse if they can heal while doing this.
