>Enemy has undodgeable damage
How hard can it be to include the possibility to skip them?
>Enemy shields itself
>Nothing to do but wait until it's damn good and ready to let you play the game again
It is in general really annoying when devs design bosses that force the player to be reactive instead of active. If you're wondering where QTE bosses came from, they evolved from things like armored bosses that only reveal the weak point after chasing you around for a bit.
>Enemy gains invincibility mid-combo and counters your ass guaranteed
>rest of the fight ends up just poking him to death
After playing through No More Heroes that shit frustrated me to no end. Bad Girl took too damn long even with suplexing her crazy ass
>tfw Cr1tikal lives in Tampa FL
>literally an hour drive away from where I live
>complete escort mission
>escort dies in the next cutscene
>Cr1tikal said he'd never show his face
>says he'll never tell us his name
>says he'll never become a cancerous facecamming LPer
>meanwhile /v/ is gay for him now that he shown his face
>look down in a first person game
>don't see legs
>playing the game only means mashing buttons and stabbing stuff constantly
>Boss does guard all damage mode that cuts damage to 0 or does vicious counterattacks
>Have to literally sit there skipping turns because there's nothing else to do during it
He's a qt, no homo
Seems like a cool guy to chill with though
Yeah kinda disappointed about that too. Kinda wished he would have remained a mystery to everyone. His recent WR videos were funny though.
>enemy can become completely invincible to all damage and debuffs for 3 minutes at a time if you take its health down too low
>spams unavoidable, extremely powerful magic attacks
The only time I've gotten a gameover in this fucking game.
>He's a qt, no homo
>Seems like a cool guy to chill with though
see what I mean?
>random shit that devs made only because they didnt have any idea on how to amp the game difficulty aside from that
this includes health hitting ridiculous amounts, bosses who oneshot you if you try to kite them, enemy spam and enemies who are unabe to be affected by anything.
If you hate cheese tactics so much, remove them or improve your game, not put a huge band-aid over the symptoms.
Yeah, not everyone likes his humour and that's okay. Not everyone likes his stories about his shitty life and that's okay too.
But he's a good guy. He also pissed in some girls mouth, I believe, and recalls it as a fond and funny story.
Dudes pretty chill. I wish him all the best.
>said he'd never show his face on youtube
>doesn't want to tell his fans his name
>feels he'd gotten too personal on his videos to keep it a secret
>still no facecam
>Game gives away too much ammo and/or resources, devaluing the impact or importance of it. Never forcing you to think strategically.
Too many games are guilty of this.
I really appreciate a game that isn't afraid to make your inventory starve.
>parry is a vital aspect of the game
>barely gets explained on the tutorial
>enemy has undodgeable, 100% instant kill priority attack that hits the whole party and is an instant gameover
>always uses it when its near invincibility is removed by killing minions
>can't avoid killing minions because they charge absurdly powerful attacks when left alive
>use burst skill to stun it
>petrifies whole party with different move
fucking Metal Gear Rising did this shit. I played through the entire game without knowing I could parry. I beat the entire fucking game without parrying. I got fucking destroyed by Jetstream Sam over and over again.
>Getting loot isn't instant and is tied to a skinning animation
>getting hit by a minion stops the animation
>bodies disappear before I can get any loot.
Monster Hunter almost made me snap my 3ds in half.
Maybe I just fucking suck or something, but when I played the demo for MGR I could never pull off parries against that boss. I think I might've nailed it once, but otherwise it was not happening.
> Hear someone complain about how obtuse parrying is
> Get it right away, and make it through the game, I hard, but only boss I really banged my head on was Sam, and ArmstronG
> I don't know why everyone complained about parries, seemed simple to me
>Replay the game later
>go to "parry" an attack, and Raiden blocks it, then does an immediate counterattack
> I'd just been blocking all game, didn't even realize there was a level above that
Holy shit, it's so fucking obtuse
>you have to get killed by something first to know to avoid it
> Enemy has super move
> It's completely invincible, like his hitbox just took a vacation
> You do a super move
> Hit out of it by the most basic attack
I wasn't expecting that much out of Kingdom fucking Hearts BBS but Vanitas' bullshit burrowing move followed by that uppercut was complete ass
>healing and stat boosts act on a fixed number instead of a percentage even though there are spells that deal a percentage of health in damage
>can't buy mana-restoring potions in shops
>bosses have no strategy other than "buff your party and hit him until he dies"
>tutorial forces you to take damage and waste a potion so you can know that you need to use potions to restore health
Resident Evil 4 was good in terms of making you thirsty for Ammo. Resident Evil 5 however is guilty of giving you the option of carrying every gun in existence in your backpack and giving you the option to hoard endless amounts of bullets.
>Visit a town for the first time
>Giant gate is closed
>Guard demands to know your business before he'll even open it
>Once you get in, they never close the gate ever again
>The main character is always stronger than the rest of the cast.
>single player fps
>level design starts off really well
>detailed industrial, office and civil map
>get about 2/3 of the way through the game
>just an excuse to say, fuck it - rush through random and lazy shoddy level design equals dimension X
>games that fill your inventory with healing items
>games that have very scarce saving points
>games with boss whose main gimmick is that he constantly heals himself
>games with interruptable healing animation
>games with level/zone that constantly deals damage at you
and only way to stop this is to leave the level/zone
>games with tutorial that forces you to make specific choices just for the sake of the tutorial
>the Main Character is a "jack of all trades"
>haha just kidding he's shit in every stat
>you can't take him out of your party
>The joy mutants having one hit perma kill moves
I had to save scum so many fucking times in LISA because of this
>minions will spawn infinitely and will only stop spawning after the boss is killed
>Can carry shitloads of healing items
>Healing is done instantly from pause menu
It's like the game is allowing you to cheat.
>enemy has not an attack animation and you just take damage when you touch him
>Ally disbands from the party
>Takes all of the equipped shit with him/her
>"You lost your weapon" sections
>stat effects are useless
Humanity Sprites in Dark Souls gave me more trouble than they had any right to.
>Game gives you a shitload of healing items and skills
>After a few hours you're lucky if you managed to get a single item to recover SP
>Said items are expensive as shit in any store
>Magical attacks are useful as shit
>Fighters make as much damage as magicians but more consistently, have twice as much HP and four times as much armor.
>enemies in the middle of an attack animation don't flinch when you hit them
>if you get the slightest scratch, you're sent crashing into the nearest wall, causing a 3 second recovery animation
>enemies can hit you again during the recovery animation
Fighters have shit all range and magic defense, not to mention lack of utility.
>Kill one enemy
>Every other enemy in a 2km radius is instantly aggroed
>can stand on minion spawn point to stop them from spawning
>game let you chooses from a million characters
>limited party pool
>only 1 character can buff up
>only 1 character can heal and you don't like her
>play on hard
>enemies out-hp and damages you
>"fine I will just grind some more"
>enemies scale with your grinding
>live an hour or two away from tampa as well
follow cr1t on snapchat
>one news years eve he asks on his story if anyone in tampa wants to go to a bar with him
Literally nobody cares, you didn't need to correct a minor typo in a stupid blogpost anyways
I know your natural reaction to this is going to be "Fuck you buddy" but come on now son what a waste
Resi4 is my all time favorite game. I wonder if that is part of the reason.
I'm playing through pic related right now too. And it's pretty good at times at limiting your resources. Although I suppose that depends on how you play
>boss only deals phys damage
>minions only deal phys damage
>can get 100% phys resist by that battle
>boss battle on a timer
>boss uses drawn-out moves that make it invincible
>boss can only be damaged at specific times through some arcane ritual
>twiddling my thumbs watching the timer run down while I wait for the next thing to happen
>Gee whiz you better play these games exactly how I tell you to otherwise you're autistic! Yes you, not me, the man who calls people faggot if they reload when things aren't going their way instead of winning and fucking yourself over later. Fucking autismotron. Fucking autismus maximus... Mum better hurry up with my tendies
>Mission difficulty: Hard
>It's easy as shit
>Mission difficulty: Easy
>It keeps pushing your shit in
>enemy can fly, go through walls and become intangible in order to avoid both physical and magic attacks
>enemy can also heal itself
>enemy can become intangible, go inside a wall where is totally invulnerable and heal itself back to full shape while you watch
>Enemy randomly moves out of your reach and you have to wait for it randomly move closer.
Fucking Hyrule Warriors
>Defeat 800 enemies in 10 minutes
>Every 100 enemies, a boss character will spawn
>Every 200 enemies, a giant boss will spawn
>Both types take so long to kill that you'll fail the mission if you even try fighting one
>Boss characters buff every other enemy if ignored
>Spend your time getting chased around the map by three Manhandlas while scavenging kills
>Eventually get shot in the back by a Manhandla that instantly kills you because of how much it had been buffed
It was a fun game until it decided to be a straight motherfucker all the time.
>Look down while crouching with a rocket launcher
>the barrel becomes half the size of your upper thigh
>enemies made specifically for hit and run and no other reason
>these same enemies can easily outrun you
Fuck any game that does this. No matter how easy they are to kill, no matter how hard they are to kill. Enemies that can tap you and run the fuck away with you having no chance to catch them, so you have to chase them and wait for the AI to fuck up and decide it wants to hit you again.
Enemies that run away constantly are garbage. If you are gonna add enemies into a game, make them actually want to kill the player and not pussyfoot around. And don't make them mindlessly run at the player nonstop either. Make your fucking game AI even average. Just average since that's all you can do nowadays.
I cannot stand enemies that are made SPECIFICALLY to hit and run though, it's bad game design.
>Archers have ranged attacks but piss-poor damage against almost everything and get killed by any magic damage while kiting bosses for 10 minutes
>Wizards have damaging spells with absurd cooldowns and mana costs, have to sit on their asses waiting to regen
>Swordsmen are unkillable tanks with faster move speed, AoE on nearly every sword skill, dirt-cheap mana costs and burst damage to cheese almost every boss in the game
>Clerics are swordsmen that can heal themselves
Really wanted to like ToS but come the fuck on
>Entire party can have their stats and abilities completely changed on a whim so your party is always exactly how you want it
>no enemy variety
Was about the same as FO3 or New Vegas really, and those first three aren't even a good thing to get pissed off about, I bet you can't even name one rational reason for why making combat based less on luck and adding random miniboss enemies that drop a good or valuable unique weapon makes a game any worse.
I don't mean to start shit, really, but I only got the game a few days ago and it seems like a lot of the complaints don't really make any sense.
>Flying at subsonic speed through the air like a giant shuriken
>Enemy doesn't even flinch
>Great deal of buildup to a boss
>You are in a huge area with lots of cover and he doesn't know where you are
>Try to sneak around the sides to get him
>He kills you instantly
>Try to go away from him
>He kills you instantly
>Try to go out of the arena area to get a vantage point
>He kills you instantly
>The entire boss fight is literally just "Walk up to him and punch him ONE TIME"
>If you do anything other than that he kills you instantly
Why even have a fucking boss, then? Why not just make it a cutscene?
>Read a bunch of things about how hard it is to parry or block
>Raiden literally begins blocking a second and a half before their attack animation would hit on Normal
>Parrying is incredibly easy
>You can buy a powerful dodge move
I don't get why people had so much trouble with that part of the game. I guess because there isn't just a "Press to block" button?
>Play as a non-fighter class
>Able to give yourself buffs to allow you to fight on the front lines
>Able to give yourself buffs that make you even stronger than a fighter
>Literally no reason to go into any other class/build because you are able to turn yourself into anything, do unique stuff, and also do the stuff that other class can do, but better
I hate this in RPGs more than anything else.
this always bothered me, and is one of the few things FF13 got right, most of the later bosses, and all optional stuff you needed to have the status effect class out constantly debuffing them to keep alive.
>Single-player game where combining certain skills make you extremely overpowered
>It's actually fun as fuck to use them and since it's not multiplayer it doesn't harm anyone
>"Upgraded" version of the game is released
>It either doesn't allow you to combine those skills anymore or just nerfs them to shit
fuck this shit in tf2
>see heavy shooting
>can lay a few stickies down and kill him
>turns at me after i finish laying down 4 stickies
>suddenly starts spewing crits
>literally one letter
>WOAH FUCK BRO IM SO TIRED HAHA NEED THAT SLEEP KNOW WHAT IM SAYIN
I really despise you people
I meant some character build with very small chance for normal player to make and only known beacuse someone said about it on the internet.
I see nothing wrong about game having one OP build you can use for fun when it has plenty of normal builds you can do too, I'm talking about single-player only of course.
>Paling has fallen around Zodiark
>Start charging attacks
>Zodiark uses Scathe
>Can't attack until his animation is done
>Zodiark casts Darkja as an interrupt
>Death kills my entire team
>Start reviving them
>Zodiark casts Scathe as an interrupt
>Need to wait for the animation to finish before I can revive
>Revive my A-Team, start charging attacks again
>Zodiark casts Scathe as an interrupt
>Animation finishes, finally get a hit off
>A Paling has rising around Zodiark
>Attacks hit for no damage
FUCK. It's like they tried to make the most annoying boss. It combines:
>Long periods of complete invincibility
>Lengthy animations during which no one else can act
>No cast time on it's attacks so they always interrupt yours
>Attacks have a chance to instantly KO, with no way to mitigate the risk
>game continues to play in background when home menu is open
>Horror game spawns enemies behind you
That shit's not creepy, just annoying.
>Enemy hits you for just enough damage to be in the one hit get fucked zone
>Use one of my 10 million healing items
>Healing is a gradual process instead of instant
>One hit kill animation starts just before my health gets out of the get fucked zone
>Still healing throughout the entire animation
>mod for New Vegas that lets you see the rest of your body when you look down
>you can even see unarmed weapons you have equipped on your hands
>boss has the ability to summon minions
>whenever it summons, it goes into a dormant, invulnerable state
>can't deal any damage to the boss until all minions are defeated
This isn't even particularly bad, it's just extremely annoying and pads out boss fights unnecessarily. It's even worse if they can heal while doing this.
>final fantasy: crystal chronicles
>that one boss that constantly heals back HP unless you take out his lamia wife first
>Game let's you look at your body when you look down
