>no 3ds firmware update yet
So is Nintendo just ignorant of the new downgrader? Throwing in the towel, raised the white flag to piracy?
>mfw the 3ds library is so small you can fit every decent game onto a 32gb sd card
>No 3ds firmware update yet
They're taking more time to fix the problem by its root, ya goof. If the update were to be rushed, hackers would just find another hole to sneak into. Nintendo's trying to pad all holes by taking their time to release it. Of course, no one knows how effective that might end up, but as of now, Nintendo's on red alert trying to come up with something to finish those blows up.
>haven't updated my 3DS since smash came out
I think I'll run this pirate life once again. Last time I did this was psp Wii days. Anybody have a list of region locked shit I was missing out on?
Rhythm Heaven the Best+
Beyond the Labyrinth
kinda new to this but is there a guide a kind anon can point me go for n3ds? Im on 10.3, is it possible to downgrade to 9.2? Sorry im kinda new to this.
Everything you need to know is there. Do not refer to anon-made pastebins.
Same boat, I have a 16GB and I think that should be enough. I remember the first time I modded my PSP, few hours the first time but I can do it now in 5 minutes. Hopefully the guides are retard proof.
Is the downgrading method for the n3ds xl safe?
or should I wait for a more stable method?
>mfw anons don't know how to fucking read
They deserved their soft-bricks.
>literally retarded guide
>still fuck up part e and update sysNAND instead
>no fixes in f
Do I have to do all that shit all over again god damn it
It's not that. I like playing with my friends. This includes upcoming online games. I would like to play other games too, but I want to be able to play current and upcoming online games.
If the guide doesn't have you backup your sysnand and then you downgrade using the wrong firmware, you're fucked.
Which is exactly what some retard anon here did to a bunch of people. He apologised unreservedly.
You realize that the 3DS isn't going to get anymore games because of the piracy?
This is the last handheld you'll ever get to do this on.
All developers are going to make games DRM only because of you fucking pirates
it can be done, as long as you have the right CIA files (look for them i aint spoonfeeding) you should be good
I already downgraded and upgraded my n3ds 3 times already and no brick at all
Piracy is simply irrelevant.
It's not as attractive as last gen for the average consumer, due to a variety of factors, including accounts.
The large bulk of people looking for pirating did it ages ago.
It's simply a non-issue.
They already have the monopoly on handheld gaming and will keep it now that sony gave up on it completely.
And the PS4 can't be hacked, neither can the Vita.
Sony was smart. Nintendo wasn't.
Nintendo isn't going to fuck up again.
Of course they made new consoles.
But devs aren't going to want to make games anymore for a pirated system.
Let me know when you get a new games fampai.
You realize Sony just made a whole new batch of Vitas right? If they gave up on it they wouldn't have made more, they also still have big name titles in development.
Wait wasn't there supposed to be a fix coming on Jan 11/12?
Also, I have two backups, nand.bin and emunand.bin
The one is for recovering sysNAND and the other for emuNAND. But how is it possible to fuck up the cfw install?
I'm waiting for a functioning sysupdater. Fucking thing softbricks every attempt on my o3DS at the reboot stage. I've heard safe sysupdater is the same program but with some extra steps that don't actually help. At least I have muh wayfu on my homescreen.
If you have old 3ds XL (like I do) with firmware up to 10.3 then follow this guide: http://pastebin.com/EBKipkPW
few notes from me:
*Do not give up if the browser exploit doesn't work the first time. Or the 30th time. Keep doing it an eventually it will work. Clear entire browser data every 10 or so tries.
*if you cannot boot the 3DS into menuhax then you have to run the browser exploit again. All is in the guide, though.
*Same thing above applies when you are unable to enter RXtools menu (which means rxtools boot straight to the emunand without letting you enter the options). Just run the exploit and re-install the menuhax. Worked for me.
*By the time you want to update your firmware make sure you are in the right nand. Enterring the setting alternates between emunand and sysnand. If you see RX in the version, exitting the settings will bring you to sysnand. If it's Ver. instead exitting brings you to emunand. Keep that in mind.
>tfw no reason to pirate because I already bought or played demos of games I've had even a vague interest in
>only game left that i'd still be interested in playing are Hyrule Warriors, which isn't out yet
Guys, I've got and old 3DS XL with menuhax and Rxtools. I'm currently on 9.2 version of both sysnand and emunand.
Can I still downgrade sysnand to version 4.X so I can use my old flashcart?
>decided to downgrade and install cfw before Nintendo fixes the browser
>cant find anything for that fucking micro sd
T-thanks. I sure hope they wont fix it tomorrow, where I will be able to lend a reader.
Alright, so I've been trying to downgrade my 3DS from 10.3 to 9.2.0-20u and I've been having trouble. I use sysUpdater and it installs the update and says reboot in 10 seconds and once it reboots, I get that "An error has occurred" shit and everytime I turn on my 3DS it'll always have that error meaning it's semi-bricked but I've redone these step 5 times already and Idunno what the cuk I'm doing wrong.
But I've noticed that my sysUpdater looks a bit different from this one
It doesn't give me Steps #1-#8. It only gives me the option to update, downgrade and exit. So I don't know what the fuck.
This is how my shit looks like if it makes a difference.
I had the same thing you did. After it rebooted it at on the black screen. I waited about 10 minutes then pulled out the sd card and of course it went to the home screen and kept giving an error. For me i just restarted my system without the sd card and it worked
Alright, but I still have the problem of semi-bricking after I do the update. As in I'll get an error has occurred.
It's not the home screen where I get the error. It's the moment when my3ds is on. Everything else will be black and in white text it'll say "An error has occurred see nintendo blah blah"
I got the everything working except I can't import any of my saves. When I try to I get:
Level : -7
Anyone else have this?
Well looks like I'm going to need to get a bigger SD card. What's the process involved with that? Just copy the files from my current SD card to the new one or use that system transfer tool?
Okay so the guide says to put all the files from the zip under sysUpdater but do I extract them all from the updates folder inside the zip and move them directly under sysUpdater or is it fine the way it is?
Yes, it is. So long as you aren't an idiot and listened to literally every single guide when they tell you to create a copy of your SysNAND and keep that shit secure in case you fuck up.
Why would they be? Unless some dumbass decides to update, there's no reason why they would. If someone does update, odds are pretty good that piracy won't work on 10.4 right out of the gate, and they'll end up with an expensive paperweight anyways.
This is the error I get after trying to downgrade
Correct me if I'm wrong, you said you have to redo the entire process if you want to switch to a bigger SD, right? But once the update comes out, we won't be able to continue using that method. So anyone wanting to upgrade their SD to a bigger size are screwed.
And this is what I get after using sysUpdater
>buy a black EU N3DS for ~$150
>downgrade it on the first try
>tfw coldboots to rxTools instantly with no annoying browser bullshit
>tfw playing FE If, MHX, and a host of other games
I am thankful that I somehow got through it all without a brick.
Well I'm at the emunand part where I need to make a note of my sysnand folder but I have two folders with relevant naming. Anyone run into this?
In all honesty the prices are probably what drove me to piracy.
>this came out three years ago, going on four
There's just no "waiting for the price drop" with Nintendo unless it's a bomb like Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
I hear people saying to get a 32gb SD card instead of a 64gb one since the 64gb can't be formatted for this purpose or something, can someone elaborate?
Also I just learned you can back up your saves with the regular settings application instead of using some save data filer thing that I see other people use, is there any detriment to this?
Saw some threads with the link to the full explanation on how to use the exploit.Didn't got time before. Anyone got the link?
I think if the SD card was in the newer 3DS before the transfer the SD card would have been set up for its old version or something.
There's really know way of knowing which folder is the right one, so either go with the bigger folder, or just do what I said before, play about with it and see what breaks it
What's happening? Is it locking when you try launching or does it boot you to the home menu? Try deleting your history and cookies.
The 3DS was dead to me when they decided not to localize DQM1, DQM2, and DQVII.
Yeah, I delete my cookies and history every 3 or 4 tries.
It says "Terminated script execution", loads for a bit, the bottom screen turns yellow, then grey, then it freezes and kicks me into the homescreen, followed by the message: An error has occurred. Please save your data in any software currently in use, and then restart the system.
>recommended jp releases
>just doesn't work
naw nigga here's what you do
1. Download that shit https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-3ds-simple-cia-converter.384559/
2. extract that shit
3. open that shit
4. put your .3ds files in the rom folder
5. run the application
6. click "create 'ncchinfo.bin' file"
7. drag the newly created nccinfo.bin file into the root of your sd card
8. get on your 3DS and boot up rxTools
9. go to Decryption Options->Generate Xorpads
10. put the SD card back in your computer and put the newly created Xorpad files in the folders listed "xorpads"
11. run the application
12. check "FW Spoof"
13. click "Convert 3DS ROM to CIA"
14. be patient
just like that ya done son, I just did Theaterhythm last night with that
I'll help anons who are looking for smash DLC
The files are US only
The files include
Smash Update 1.1.3
0004008c000edf00.cia (All of the DLC before Cloud)
sm4sh-cloud-DLC(0004008c000edf00).cia (Cloud DLC with mii outfits)
BigBlueMenu.cia (Regular FBI installer can't install the DLC correctly so use this)
Make sure you install the update first and then the DLC
This shit, there is already a folder in the files I have to copy over titles 3DS, and I have another folder titled 3ds already on the SD card though.
>have all these games on my 32 gig
>only feel like playing 2-3 of them
>have all of these .cia's downloaded on my PC
So is this what it's like to be a pirate. Kind of unfulfilling after you achieve what you're going for.
500mb / 500mb / 1.8gb usually. There seem to be some 3GB ones like DQ8 now though. A 4GB kinda works but the main problem about it is the fact that the emunand used to install CFW already eats a fucking 1GB out of the sd
Waiting for 3DS emulation. Can't wait for Monhun in glorious 4k with full controller support.
Nope. 3Ds is at the end of it's lifecycle as a main handheld. There will be games for it after this year as well but expect it to take a back seat like Vita is to Playstation.
On average about 1GB, I managed to fit in the following in a 4GB SD card by installing them from largest to smallest.
>Puzzles and Dragons Z/Super Mario Bros. Edition
>Ocarina of Time 3D
>Story of Seasons
>Ultimate NES Remix
Plus some 3D VC games like Kid Icarus, Cave Story, and Ecco; along with some custom VC games from NES to GBA.
>still have the old 2gb default sd card
>cant even complete emunand because not enough space
What should I do if I wanna secure my ability to pirate later?
Already downgraded. Haven't done anything after that.
This happened, among other things maybe.
Ps4 got linux, yes. But the only thing I've heard about the vita is the dumb thing where you have to p2p the games you want to play, and even then it's only if someone on the network has a retail copy of the game currently in the network.
Whatever. This year was already planned to mark the beginning of the end for the 3DS and with smartphones and shit dominating I think anybody could guess that this was the last generation for dedicated gaming handhelds anyway.
Why does pirating Nintendo games feel so good?
>get to the part of the install where I'm supposed to start rxtools in SysNAND mode
>browser just hangs on PLEASE STAND BY screen
>menuhax just cuts to black screen
Fucking hell. I knew this would happen.
Because Nintendo are assholes and never actually put their games on sale. But they're also super high quality games so you feel like you're getting something great without having to pay the usual huge cost.
I haven't downgraded yet though because there's nothing I want to pirate. Probably will in preparation for the eventual Dai Gyakuten Saiban fan translation though.
$50 on second hand? Seriously?
Can't you find some forum or place where they sell second hand games in your area and just meet the vendor? I'm sure you can find someone who'd sell $25 or maybe even $20.
Here's the thing: instead of spending time shifting through all that and possibly coming up empty, I can just pirate it and enjoy it within the hour of searching for the .cia file. It's convenient, clean, and fast. And the best part is if I do happen across a copy at a mom and pop game store or something for around $25 then I can buy it, uninstall the game I have, back up the saves, and enjoy it just the same as if I bought it from the beginning.
Well good luck to you then I usually do the opposite:
>Yes? Is it available in my area for 2nd hand?
>>Yes? Buy it.
>>No? Is it available brand new?
>>>Yes? Save up for it.
>>>No? Pirate it
>No? Pirate it
