>that canceled feature/level/etc that would have made the game much better
What was it?
This is the only thing you should never fucking mention.
The original dragon's dogma map. The moon was the original final battle location as well.
they cut elves too, shame if you're into that
I forgot this was even a feature that was planned
god fucking damn it
>That anon who has no idea how game design works and has never made any vidya ever but still thinks hearing an idea is the same thing as it actually working well
Everything in destiny, until they cut it all 3 months before launch because activision.
Most notably the player duel with Shin Malphur which would've rewarded you with TLW. Fuck, I can even imagine it. Even a highly botched execution would've made it the peak of the game.
It was a fucking retarded idea to begin with, glad it was removed. Can you imagine how many retards would have yanked out the cartridge at the wrong time (or too vigorously, or rushed to jam it back in within the time limit and accidentally broke the contacts, etc)? It would have been a customer service nightmare for Nintendo to repair all those busted consoles and cartridges.
WW is still my favorite but I do wonder how good it would have been with those missing dungeons.
The broken archstone(spelling?) in Demon's Souls. I watched a video of someone who cheated their way into the unfinished version, and people in the comments were talking about how it was the biggest area and how great it would have been.
>those Pokemon games that remove features in previous installments in the newer games
My guess is that they were the easiest to make into one dimensional bad guys coupled with being one of the newer factions. They ran outta time and legion was easier to butcher.
>they removed the ragdoll button in gtao within the first patch
That was more than enough to realize how bad it was gonna be
Enemies in Dark Souls walking around the map instead of standing still waiting for you to show up. There would have been sections of the game were you coupd have snuck past enemies.
A box specific to the platform you bought it on.
PS4 and Xbone boxes might have acted as just head gear early on but was reworked to be a box.
The Steam box could create steam and make noise.
India I think.
If there is yet another China level in MD instead of literally anywhere else I will be disappointed. Why no Japan or Korea or Philippines or Thailand? They could even do India this time and fulfil their Sinoboo obsession since China is meant to annex India at some point.
Somewhere in India, iirc. The developer commentary mentions that the Harvesters were originally supposed to operate from there.
It was kinda frustrating to play through the game with constant comments about this big, super-awesome section which they had planned and were totally making great progress on, only for someone from the dev team to go "But yeah, we didn't do that".
THE NUMBER ONE 'WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN' IN VIDEO GAMES IS THIS
THERE WERE PLANS FOR THE ORIGINAL XBOX TO BE BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE WITH DREAMCAST GAMES
THEY GOT REALLY FAR, ONLY BREAKING DOWN BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T AGREE IF ONLINE GAMES WOULD BE REWIRED TO USE XBOX LIVE OR USE THEIR OLD INTERFACE
IMAGINE A WORLD WHERE THE XBOX LAUNCHES AND HAS THE ENTIRE DREAMCAST LIBRARY AS GAMES INSTEAD OF JUST HALO
Well, China being a major political and economic player in the near future isn't really surprising and Lower and Upper Hengsha were going completely different from what we've seen in game.
Why not Russia or Brazil? Both are influential nations, Brazil expected to become moreso. They're are plenty of other cultures and countries they could use without falling for the cyberpunk cliches.
No, I like having a concentrated and focused game. Or would you rather have a game full of aimless padding? I shudder to think of what Zelda would be like if it kept Kinstones, and crafting, and fucking rabbit catching. Fuck that.
You're the dumbass who changed it to >wanting less content
Stop being such a bitch and just play the other games to access those features. You can already backup Pokemon and insert them into save files so you don't even need to hunt for them all over again
Something must be wrong with your brain anon, kek. I can't believe someone is actually defending the removal of integral game features
I suppose you'd also be okay if the next Mario game removed jumping?
>integral game features
Like what? Absolutely nothing integral has ever been removed from Pokémon. All the integral stuff had only ever been expanded more and more. Better over world movement, better box management with more storage, physical/special split, more types, etc.
They removed non-gendered pokemon which was integral to the enjoyment of the series by trans-people and Nintendo should be deeply ashamed of themselves for appropriating this problematic anti-equalitt culture
Star Wars: Battlefront 3 was pretty much fully completed all the way back in 2008. Made by Free Radical (original developers of Goldeneye 64, Battlefront 1 and 2, and the TimeSplitters series). It was canceled at the last minute due to the lack of funding needed to release it.
A game needs funding to be released. In 2008, the vast majority of game sales still came from retail outlets (unlike today where more and more sales are coming from digital downloads). If no big publisher was ready to fund distribution, they had no choice. Besides, it was a rough year for them seeing as how they almost went bankrupt, and were bought out by Crytek. So, the game was largely forgotten.
That fucking moon idea in Dragon's Dogma. It would've been end game around with you around level 90 and you literally go through this big ass dungeon tower to and get to the moon and fight a god there or something. It may sound very ''that kid'' ish but that's what an Anon translated for us with a picture before. If only....
I was just about to post this. Truly a tragedy. Surely there has to be a copy of this somewhere they could throw out?
What I think would be a pretty neat idea is if companies put out lists of games they made way-back-when and have no intention of making a HD remake. Passionate fans of the series could use the assets they have remaining or whatever and make a HD copy of the game, which then gets sold. The fans get a slice of the profits for their work and they get to replay the game in decent quality and the companies get to receive profit on a game they've done no work for but still hold the license for rather than let series sit around and gather dust.
What I'd give for a HD remake of Dino Crises on PS1.
Trans people don't want to be "special" or "legendary"
No pokemon should have genders because genders are a social construct and just because we force them on our kids does not mean we need to force them on our pokemon
Do you fags even know how much shit was cut from that game due to time constraints?
Dante and Nero were supposed to have their own unique campaigns. Each with unique levels, bosses and weapons.
DMC4 Dante was supposed to have even more weapons than his DMC3 counterpart had.
So yeah, thanks Capcom.
I remember when it was first revealed, they talked about Splinter Cell conviction would have fully interactive, detailed, environments where you could dynamically interact with every object. It was later scrapped and seemed like a pipe dream to begin with, but I thought it was cool at the time. Also they showed a cool level where you were being chased through offices or something.
Shenmue 3 deserves to be listed here.
>B-b-b-but... Muh kickstarter!
Fuck the new kickstarter shit. I'm talking about the truly epic $70 million dollar game we were supposed to get way back in 2002.
This shit looked bananas, a real 24/JB simulator. I can't find decent videos of the presentations though. The rumor (or was it confirmed) is that it was scrapped because it looked too much like AC (and it did, only better). But if you gut a game because it looks too much like another and that one ends up sucking then what was the point?
To be fair, it looked like shit. By today's standards it would be outdated right away. It would be limited by the 360/PS3. Also the campaign would have sucked ass (Dark Kenobi, kek). Way to miss the point of the character.
Yeah I remember at the time there was a longer video showing the whole sneaking stage where he's wearing a hoody or something, but I can't seem to find it.
The only E3 footage I could find was that one level where he breaks into the house after the interrogation. Maybe it was a tech presentation at a panel or something.
>biological sex is a myth and has nothing to do with reproduction
Alright Tumblr, feel free to leave any time.
The only not-retarded thing you posted is that, being fictional creatures, Pokemon didn't necessarily have to have genders.
I'll never get over this shit, Special Edition was good but it didn't fill any of the cut shit.
Imagine if DMC4 was released as fully intended, it'd be the best action game ever.
He is right you know? He wants a feature to choose the sex of the Pokemon just like in real life parents can bully their children into becoming girls/boys. If that's not a healthy representation of gender then I don't know what it is.
With the cut ending and cut content, the game would've literally been GOAT
Uhhhh, did you just call me a "he?"
I identify as non-binary, please use the gender-neutral "they"
Here is an article you might like to read about the gender neutral they becoming word of the year
Pokemon are fictional but the Pokemon world is directly based on the real world for a number of reasons. It stands that the basic tenets of science still apply like gravity and sexual reproduction.
>yfw you were suppose to be an arisen who takes orders and quest from a White Dragon as the main function of the game
Makes the name a bit better as well.
Nah, Pandemic did the work on the first two Battlefronts, but i agree the version they had done would have been much better than the stinking pile of shit that EA released.
On another note, does anyone have the before/after picture of the Battlefield 3 Alpha/Beta(released game)?
Along with the game having a blue haze on your screen constantly and having most of the color sucked out they made the gun play almost akin to call of duty, in the Alpha of Battlefield 3 you actually had some distance inbetween teams because the guns were a little more powerful and you had to use cover to your advantage, making it pretty much impossible to run and gun like most people do today. Oh, and if you tried to use a player developed tool to remove the color filters that were put in during the beta, they would ban your account.
I think I found your problem
You're trying to apply real world social conflict to a game about globalized, legalized cockfighting
In the first Banjo Kazooie game you could collect these 6 ? eggs and an ice key. If you completed the game 100% the ending would be a tad different and show where you could find them. Basically, the first game made a huge deal out of these items. The method on how to get them was to be revealed in the sequel. The items are actually totally useless in the first game, but the mystery surrounding them and them being findable in places you couldn't normally get to made them such a big deal.
However during the development cycle of the second game Nintendo decided to change the hardware of the N64 a bit.
Normally, old N64's store data temporarily within the console for 10 seconds after shutting down. The idea was you'd get these items, turn off the console, then swap the Banjo Kazooie cardridge for the Banjo Tooie one and turn on the console again, transferring the item data between games. Hence, Stop 'n Swop.
Nintendo however decided to lower the time N64 would store data temporarily from 10 to 1 second in newer N64 models, making the transfer nigh-impossible to complete. The devs were forced to drop the feature and made a half-assed attempt to still make it happen.
As such, 2 of the eggs and the ice key where obtainable in the sequel by simply bashing in-game BK cardridges, with no mention anywhere in the game how to get the items in the first game. Hackers however found in-game cheatcodes to unlock the locations where you'd be able to get these items within the first game's data, allowing everyone to get these items in the first game.
It is obvious these items would unlock extras in Banjo Tooie, but what exactly still remains unclear. In the Xbox360 versions of both games the feature was restored, but it unlocked an Xbox 360 theme and Avatars, so what it was orinally meant to unlock remains a mystery today and the devs are still very tight-lipped about all of it.
The guy that made this post should kill himself
Snake Soul sword.
I mean, who doesn't want a talking sword?
I will never not be angry to EA for that.
>casualized the game mechanics and made the artstyle too cartoonish to appeal children
>trashed great and innovative ideas to not anger the christfaggots
>killed everything Will has done
Spore was probably the first game that I legitimately hyped for.Seriously fuck EA.
